Bashful high school crushes in Orange Marmalade

The second teaser is out for KBS’s fantasy romance Oranage Marmalade, and in contrast to the first one’s pain and tears, this teaser’s full of sweet and cute. Phew! Why didn’t they lead with this one? Not that I have anything against sensitive, heartwrenching teen stories about impossible interspecies romance, but too much angsting had me wary. You can only make Yeo Jin-gu cry so much before I just can’t take it anymore.
The new video is less fantasy and more real teen emotions, what with all the fluttery hearts and mortifying foot-in-mouth moments we wish we could un-live. In it, Yeo Jin-gu is adorably embarrassed, several times in quick succession, as he experiences a crush on a girl at school (our vampire heroine, played by Seolhyun). She doesn’t seem to know he exists, which frustrates and aggravates him deeply (as the class president, he seems pretty used to having people know who he is and like him for it). He bungles a few attempts to approach her, to hilarious effect, before he finally makes contact. I enjoy the way he declares his name to her like it’s the most important thing ever, and dearly hope she has a witty setdown up her sleeve.
It’s a relief to see that the show has a sense of humor, not least because Yeo Jin-gu is actually pretty great at comedy but hardly ever does it. I mean, when you’re also great at hardcore drama, I guess you have a lot of options to explore, but cute antics are always welcome. Let the kid have some lighthearted high school fun while he’s still a high schooler! (Omg, he’s still a high schooler. He’s been a high schooler, like, forever.)
Orange Marmalade kicks off on May 15 with a double-header, and airs once weekly thereafter.

As adorable as Yeo Jin-gu is...is anyone kinda worried that all the promos have been putting him front and center so far? I really like the heroine from Orange Marmalade and it is primarily her story, so I'm hoping Seolhyun does a good job.

Makes me wonder if they are doing that because they know it's Yeo Jin-gu that's going to pull in the viewers, or whether they actually switched around the point of view since in the webtoon the story is essentially told from the vampire girl's perspective.

It might just be because Jingu is the better actor and therefore they want to concentrate more on him, but that's just stupid if the story is really heroine centric as you say it is. I hope this is not the reason, and that Seolhyun can at least hold her own, otherwise Jingu's gonna steal the show. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. But if that happens, it would just make me wish they had chosen a more experienced actress.

Like alua said above the webtoon is mainly from her perspective. One of the things I really liked was that Ma-ri's character arc wasn't just about the romance, it was about going from living in fear of being found out as different to finding a group of ppl who accepted and supported her. I really liked her friendship with some of the other girls and her aunt and family, and hope they kept it in. Again, fingers crossed Seolhyun does a good job.

I Think SeolHyun is there for a reason, our heroine is a singer after all. And seeing the story from Jin Goo's point of view is kinda refreshing, because if you really want to see it from the girl's pov then just read the webtoon.

I'm only partially through Orange Marmalade but I think in the beginning she really doesn't do that much talking. At least not with him. She just tries to avoid, so the clips they can make would mostly likely involve him. At least I'm hoping that's all it is.
But this trailer has a much more similar tone I think to what I read which is making me happy.

I'm going to give this a try this purely for Yeo Jin-gu.
I rather wish he was matched with a definitely solid actress... someone like Ko Ah-Sung. So far Seolhyun seems generically bland. I want to already feel why he's enthralled by her. :-/

He said in one interview that he actually raises it higher when acting so it's not as distracting. So it's even lower. :O
I don't sense much chemistry between the leads. I know it's just a teaser, but a lot of times the chemistry is there even in the promos. I remember even in just the promo pictures for Master's Sun you could feel the spark, for example.

And So Ji-sub and Gong Hyo-jin had exploding sparks right from that first promo picture where she was grinning at the camera wearing that cherry hat while he held her waist.

The first equation would have solutions x+y = 5 and x+y = -5.
y=-x + 5 and y = -x -5 --> the solution would be two parallel lines going having y intercepts of 5 and -5, respectively.
It looks like he is supposed to be working on conic sections...

Well, the last line is actually satisfied by x=3, y=2 (x=y^2-1). But yeah if he's deriving line by line that squared term shouldn't be there. (yes I am a total math geek).

I would so watch this but I can already feel the blandness of Seolhyun by the stills and trailer. I might check it out if it gets good reviews because Yeo Jin-gu is such a charismatic little man. Hope it's good! p.s. I always thought Jonghyun looked like a vampire. Funny how things work out.

Just found out that his birth month is also August! Is that a sign that we're meant to be? (loool just kidding) but for me, he's still an oppa since I'm a year younger than him haha

It appears too much estrogen destroys the ability to reason. I think you will all be surprised by Seolhyun's acting abilities. And my opinion is based on watching her act in another series, not based on her idol status.

I've seen her act and she's unremarkable at best. Let's not kid ourselves that she or Lee Jong-hyun would be landing major roles in this series if their agency wasn't involved in producing it.

I've only ever seen Yeo Jin Gu on a hilarious episode of Gag Concert. I see a lot of people stating that they wish he was with a more seasoned actress so I guess I'll be able to compare their acting skills with fresh eyes as I don't have any bias to worry about.
He's a cutie but young. [LOL I say this as an 18 year old and only 8 months older than he is]. For the past four years of watching dramas, I've only seen a handful of high school dramas so its weird for me to adjust to high school drama antics [like that ridiculous bullying which my Korean friend says is mild compared to real life] as opposed to "adult" drama antics.
