Jo Jung-seok, Park Bo-young couple up for Oh My Ghostess

What an adorable pairing: Park Bo-young (Hot-Blooded Youth) is indeed taking on the new tvN drama Oh My Ghostess, and joining her is Jo Jung-seok (You’re the Best, Lee Soon-shin). Woohoo! I love them both separately, and I’m sure I’ll love them together, so this has me very excited.
Plus, let’s not forget the outrageously funny-sounding premise, where a timid young woman is possessed by the ghost of a lustful virgin. I’m sold on that logline alone, but the casting just makes everything better. And in the hands of the High School King of Savvy director and writer, I’m sure tons of hilarity is bound to ensue, showcased in heaps of awesomely awkward scenarios. As an added bonus, with Jo Jung-seok in the lead, you just know he’ll be running wild with the ad-libs (and these producers are likely to give him free rein to go hog-wild).
Park Bo-young’s character Bong-sun has zero self-confidence, and because of her extreme shyness, she doesn’t have any close friends. At the restaurant where she works as an assistant, she’s not particularly good at anything, and mostly just gets yelled at a lot. Her grandmother was a shaman so from a young age she’s been able to occasionally see ghosts, though it’s not until she meets the lascivious ghost that she gets possessed totally.
Jo Jung-seok plays Sun-woo, a conceited star chef who’s overflowing with confidence in his food and his skills. Bong-sun harbors a secret crush on him, though it doesn’t sound like he takes much notice of her — one, because he’s always surrounded by women, and two, because he’s hung up on an old flame. But then one day, Bong-sun starts acting differently, shedding her mousy personality, and ends up constantly on Sun-woo’s mind.
What ensues is a quirky, charming romance — it sounds adorable, doesn’t it? I’m hoping for lots of laugh-out-loud antics and strong actor chemistry, with lots of sweet romance to top it off. Oh My Ghostess is slated for tvN’s Friday-Saturday slot following Ex-Girlfriend Club and premieres in July.

Thank you. The "It is only ok as long as they look pretty and young" thing is frustrating to see. What kind of love counts wrinkles, height, weight etc? A good romance is a good romance. It does not need requirements aside from two consenting adults who like each other.

No problem, because Jung Seok has baby face and he plays well the immature, childish, cute characters. With IU the difference was 13 year (You're the best) but they were believable, adorable pair.

There are plenty of dramas where the woman is 7-8 years older than the guy (INR 3, I hear Your Voice) and they had lots of chemistry, I doubt age will be an issue for these two.

This is true. Omg, how perfect can it get? This project just topped all others coming up in terms of how excited I am for it (and I'm excited for a lot of dramas this summer!!).
My only concern will be how the romance unfolds. I'm looking forward to it, especially all the initial hijinks, but also recognize that it needs to be handled really well. Will the lustful ghost's (can't wait to see who they cast for her actual ghost body!) sudden appearance get his attention, while it's Bong-sun herself who he eventually falls for? And will there be tons of awesome bonding between the ghost and her hostess as she helps to bring her out of her shell? Please let it all unfold perfectly and amazingly so I can end up loving the drama even more than how much I love the sound of it.

Still, I'm definitely interested. It sounds like there might be some hints of Surplus Princess's lovable mermaid in there too and this is a good pairing. Thanks for the news.

I really only remember Jo Jung-seok from K2H and I don't think I've seen Park Bo-young in anything. So I don't have a huge opinion on the actors. However, the premise sounds great. I am really excited for this one!

Park Bo Young has mostly been in movies that's why only-drama viewers don't know her. As for Jo Jung Seok he's, let's say, a late bloomer when it comes to TV. He worked for long years in theater though. Both are capable actors despite people not really knowing them and hopefully this drama will bring them recognition by the larger public

The topic of consent is my fear here. How will it be romantic if she is possessed? Will he be touching and kissing her without her consent or even conscious presence ala 'Master's Sun'? That's a very creepy thought, so I worry.
I mean, done well, it could be great, but dramas aren't too good with healthy romantic relationships most of the time.
Or respecting preferences. Are we going to get virgin-shaming as a joke? The "pure" virginal stereotype of female leads is disrespectful because it is set as a standard, but jumping to another "Horny 24/7" stereotype isn't any better. Especially if they go the "Here is why our pure, shy one is better than that needy s-word ghost" way.
It's just not the type of comedy or romance I'd want to see. Perhaps I'll personally leave it for later, if others speak well of it and its handling of its premise. I think the actors will look cute together though. And hurray for casting young good actresses more.

Nah, I think it'll be more like the sheltered one who is too scared of life will (hopefully) gain more perspective and courage to go for things she likes.

ohh that premise!! hope they executed well... and JJS??ohmaaaayygawwdd! I just love him..! I didnt watch lee soon shin cuz it was like tooo long for my taste but Im glad to see him back! its funny how I was thinking jo jung seok and yo han grabbed my attention in a similar manner with their talkative funny characters but have enough talent to play serious characters too and now theyre back to back in the same timeslot!

Sold sold and sold. Glad to see this young lady getting a leading role. Even of the age gap is there she is an adult 25. That's what acting is all about. And if him and IU and look good together, plus that show actually had a "real" kiss, it will be fine.
