Won Bin and Lee Na-young get married in secret

And another heartthrob goes off the market. After dating for two years (and very quietly at that), Won Bin (The Man From Nowhere) and Lee Na-young (Runaway: Plan B) tied the knot in a secret wedding ceremony on Saturday, May 30. I know Won Bin is known for keeping his private life private, but I’m a little impressed that they managed to pull off a wedding without the press catching wind of it.

The couple met in 2011 through their agency Eden 9, which still represents them both, and made the announcement that they were dating in July of 2013. They’ve since kept their relationship very quiet, to the point that you might not even know about them as a couple if you didn’t happen to catch the start of their relationship. (If this is you and you’re hyperventilating because you thought Won Bin was single until now, I’m sorry. Deep breaths.)

They held a quiet wedding ceremony on Saturday in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do, which is Won Bin’s hometown (and where the Three Meals a Day farm is, for point of reference). Only family members were in attendance at the simple country affair, which took place at a nameless inn. According to their agency, they vowed: “As I remember the reverent vow that takes root in the land where I was born and raised, even when life’s hardships find us, I will live as a steadfast tree, constant and not easily swayed.”

I just hope that they follow up this news with some new projects that are in the pipeline, because it’s been an awfully long time since we’ve seen either of them onscreen. Won Bin hasn’t been in a single project since 2010’s The Man From Nowhere, and Lee Na-young did do one movie in 2012 (Howling), but has otherwise been quiet since 2010 when she did a drama. It would just be nice to see Won Bin more than once or twice a decade is all.

Well it didn't go THAT unnoticed since Dispatch managed to get pictures form the wedding party arrival which... I quite frankly find a bit (or very much actually) creepy bc seeing the pictures it seems as if they were hiding in trees and such which... o_O

Congrats to the couple nevertheless! I'm impressed that they managed to keep their relationship so low key but good for them! It's nobody's business but theirs

By the way, for the first and probably last time in my life I somehow congratulate a newlywed couple a bit cold-heartedly. It's been a running joke among netizens for years that Won Bin isn't real, he's a CGI effect because he's just too perfect (talented, handsome, super low-key, no controversies, not into fame for fame's sake etc etc)

I guess his only flaw is his looooong hiatus/semi-retirement, lol.

Aw, that is wonderful. They look lovely together (or look lovely placed side-by-side from respective photoshoots in any case lol) and two quiet/private people getting together sounds like a match made in heaven. They are lucky to have each other and I wish them lots of happiness.

It wasn't unnoticed. Dispatch made a report about two weeks ago about them getting married and the agency said nope they aren't getting married no way! And yet two weeks later.... haha I'm cool with them getting married but you were caught, why lie about it and two weeks later say oh hey we DID get married haha!

It's unexpected, but somehow this ninja-level secrecy and low-key wedding is exactly what I'd expect of Won Bin. I mean, I think we'd all have been more shocked if the wedding was some huge public production.

(and gf, I join in your prayer for Won Bin to please pick another acting project, he was so good in Ajusshi that it sucks to think he basically ended his acting career at the age of 32.)

Dont think either will return to movies and even more not in dramas. Has he still got it ? Hard to say.
Its difficult when you have disappeared for 5 years and make an impact now. Thats my take.
I loved him in Ajhussi but seeing how he basically retired, I find that rude to the public viewers, he doesnt even bother to connect to us.

....Jun Ji-hyun took an almost equally long break in the 2000s though, and look at her now. Though actually, I'd love to see her in a movie with Won Bin, now.

And I don't think viewers own the actors, they can choose not to work if they don't find compelling material - we can't be that entitled to them!

Jun Ji Hyun didn't do dramas, but she has constantly been in movies though. So I don't count that as a long-break.

What I meant is how hidden must he be, if korean public think he is almost non-existent. He used to be a TOP star at a point, and then just disappeared.
Unless he really is sick of entertainment world ... but then again he has been milking in CFs only since 5 years.

It kinda feels like to me that he has produced a massive shell around his life, and is now scared to come out of it. Maybe thinking, what if I flop.

Since I joined k-ent world, after 2010, Won Bin only exists in stories for me. THE MOST HANDSOME MAN OF KOREA, BUT WHERE IS HE? ONLY IN FICTION.

she took a three year break from all acting work at one point, and still left large gaps in her filmography even after that.

Won Bin, if he really has retired, is a true loss to Korean cinema. He's not just handsome but a fantastic actor, it'd be a shame if he never acted again.

I, too, had forgotten they were together. though it comes up now and again. I wonder how they are paying their bills if neither is working? Or are CF's and magazine spreads paying enough to each of them that they don't need more? As under the radar as they live, they probably live a pretty simple life style too.

So I always hear about Won Bin but I have never seen him in a show before so have absolutely no attachment to him. He seems to be treated as Korea's heartthrob but I find a lot of other actors much more attractive and appealing. Maybe if I saw him in something I would change my mind.
