Kim Yoo-jung considers fantasy romance film starring Cha Tae-hyun

Kim Yoo-jung (Angry Mom, Elegant Lie) is enjoying a pretty nice career streak right now (I hesitate to say “high” since she’s only 16 and likely has a lot of career still ahead of her), and she’s looking to add another movie to the list. The potential project would pair her up with Cha Tae-hyun (The Producers) in the film called Because We Love, an omnibus project described as a fantasy romance about people who are awkward in love.

Ha, well Cha Tae-hyun seems perfect for that description, and Kim Yoo-jung did recently take on a web drama with a similar theme, Love Cells, although in that series she was the savvy one guiding along the hapless. There’s not much about the plot other than the general premise and the fact that Cha Tae-hyun will play the main character, a songwriter. The role Kim Yoo-jung is considering is not described, though it purports to be one with a large amount of screentime.

Because We Love (whose title could also mean Because I Love or Because I Love You; the subject is left out and we can only guess what it refers to) will be directed by Joo Ji-hong (Rabbit and Lizard), and produced by Cha Ji-hyun, Cha Tae-hyun’s older brother. Hyung is the head of production company AD406 and has a couple successes under his belt, having also produced last year’s critical hit A Hard Day and Cha Tae-hyun’s 2012 sageuk action-comedy Gone With the Wind.

Because We Love plans to finish casting this month and begin filming in July.

If I'm reading this correctly, they're pairing a 16 year old girl with a 40+ guy? Am I getting my characters mixed up, because if I'm not, are they even serious right now??

Its not necessarily mean that Kim Yoo Jung will be paired as a couple with Cha Tae Hyun.

An omnibus film usually has more than one set of major characters and lovelines, so I highly doubt they'll be a couple.

Considering they wrote her out of Secret Door rather than have her romance a 30-year-old, I hope they're not actually intending to have her romance an ajusshi here.

Hopefully she's just up for one part of the omnibus and with a rather more age-appropriate love interest.

Yea exactly, because the idea just grosses me out. I'm not against huge age gaps and they're usually fine to me, but she's a minor and he's above 40. It's wrong on so many levels. I just hope they arent smoking something weird and we get more casting news soon.

Oh please... Don't include me in what YOU see. There is nothing clear yet. We have no female lead or another male to pair KYJ up with. Neither do we have concrete character descriptions. So there's every reason for me to suspect things.

That I want my comment to be baseless is a fact, as I've said in my initial comment.

There is nothing clear yet, you're completely right! IMHO Kim Yoojung, while a great young actress, doesn't have the acting chops [YET] to be a female lead as compared to Kim So-hyun. I also extremely doubt they will couple up CTH & KYJ because 1) I don't think CTH would agree to that 2) it's creepy 3) it just feels extremely realistic.

Highly doubt that, in Korea (as well as plenty of other places) this would be a total no-no, since he's literally well old enough to be her father. I think they'll probably be in separate skits within the movie..

In any case, and I say this again: Anything with Cha Tae-hyun is a green light for me. That actor is so pretty in my eyes. Even I do not know how he does it, but it works so mighty fine for me. (I wish not to express my sincerest disgust to a drama that otherwise put Cha Tae-hyun in a top-billed project (1st billed) yet became a sub-character for another actor who exceeded 100% screentime and exposure-- fan service, achieved.) I love Cha Tae-hyun, and I would wish that he'd be given something worth his credentials. He is no less Cha Tae-hyun.

They would never do that, or so I believe. And Kim Yoo Jung doesn't seem like the type to sign up for something like that, right?
I'm super excited that we get to see more of her, now with Angry Mom having finished. And I can't wait till Love Cells 2 comes out!!! Fighting KYJ!!!!

Looking forward to it! And yeah, I HIGHLY doubt they would even think of pairing them up. That would just be crazy. Pairing a 16-year-old with someone in their early 20s is different (e.g. KSH and both guys in School 2015) but CTH is almost 40, I doubt they'd do it.

Such a great news! All these upcoming projects (with Love Cells getting a season 2 and all), go get them Yoo-Jung ah. Hopefully the next news about her is about her finally getting the lead (with age-appropriate love lines unlike Secret Door). I'll be patiently waiting ?

That is one good looking girl in the pic. I really like her acting in Angry Mom. Not overly dramatic, just the right touch and range of emotions. Given the lack of clarity on the plot, I along with the majority here hope they don't pair a 16 year old with a 40 year old. Wonder why the lack of info since it is due to start filming in July (not that far away) unless the main plot is still a work in progress and subject to change?
