Running Man: Episode 250

Who better is there to come and play this week on Running Man’s 250th episode than BIGBANG. These Roman gladiators will face off Joseon-era merchants in a race to return to their respective timelines. It’s time to shed the pristine idol image (and maybe even some layers) to give us an uproariously hilarious episode this week. Only one team will make it back—who will it be?

EPISODE 250. Broadcast on June 7, 2015.

What better way to introduce mega group BIGBANG than with car drifts. Led by Jong-kook, these Roman gladiators include: G-Dragon (or GD,), Taeyang, TOP, Daesung, and Seung-ri.

Haha can’t help but be left breathless by GD, asking the latter to be his son’s godfather. If only, good man. If. Only. Thank goodness Daesung has finally gotten rid of the bangs which covered half his face, but his humor is still very much the same. Now that he’s not running with the handsome guy image (because you couldn’t see his face then), he’s reverted back to his “ugly” image.

After acknowledging that answer from GD sounds cool and TOP’s voice has gotten even lower, we establish our two teams: the Running Man Joseon-era merchants vs the BIGBANG (plus Jong-kook) gladiators. Jong-kook: “You all look like Hong Gil-dong!”

In order to travel back to their respective historical timelines, today’s race is entitled “Time Track.” Only the victors will be able to return home, and winning the two initial games will put them at an advantage for the final mission. What’s more is that both Jae-suk and Haha are familiar with the race track they’re on (thanks to Infinite Challenge).

When Taek PD says that will prove advantageous, Jong-kook voices his disbelief.

At their first destination the teams are met with a mat of various-sized gears, and whoa—they move at different speeds. Here they’ll become human cuckoo birds; the PD will call out a time, they’ll run and smash their faces into and through the plastic wrap. Pfft, that ought to get us some hilarious screencaps. The first team to succeed in this, wins.

Daesung jokes that this game will ruin his recent “handsome guy” image, only to be teased that his golden locks makes him look like a foreigner. It might’ve been nearly three years already, but the memory of GD “ruining his image” on variety is still fresh on my mind.

Everyone starts hopping across the board as soon as the whistle blows. TOP gets there first while Jong-kook acts as a human barricade. Thanks to his help, TOP succeeds calling out the right time (9 o’clock).

Taeyang is the first to reach the plastic wrap clock in the second round, but sadly he doesn’t remember what the time was. Oh no! He starts calling it out anyway, and when Kwang-soo tries to cover his mouth, he chomps down. Owwww.

That spurs on a biting parade, and then GD swoops in to call out the correct time before collapsing onto the ground. The cast realizes that they must do something about Jong-kook, so they plan on attacking him 3:1. But Jong-kook has a plan of his own too, so Seung-ri and Taeyang volunteer to bow out of the brawl.

After learning Taeyang’s secret to his moist hair (“I just put water on it”) Haha and Gary follow suit. While Jong-kook is held back, Taeyang runs forward to poke his head through. He isn’t above biting again, then calls out the right number.

Haha shows off his injuries to the staff — who seem legit astonished — only for Taeyang to pull him back.

We skip ahead to when it’s Jong-kook and Daesung vs. four of the merchants remaining. Jong-kook runs up ahead to create a barricade for Daesung, who is temporarily delayed by spinning gears. He tries to claw his way in, only to be pulled backwards by the Easy Brothers.

Jae-suk and Suk-jin try to poke their way through in the chaos, and it’s Jae-suk who finally gets through.

Daesung finally rushes ahead the next time, and would you get a look of that glorious face? He gets pulled back but gets back in the game and succeeds.

With Jong-kook as the last remaining contender, the RM cast concedes an early defeat. Jae-suk is sure that someone among the trio will betray the others. As expected, Jong-kook charges ahead to grab the win.

The gladiators are allowed to choose one of two racing passes; they choose “water,” leaving “carbonated drinks” to the merchants. For the second set, they go with “straight” vs a “curve.”

Something Daesung said makes TOP giddy and happy, which is just plain adorable. After sharing his frustrations about trying to poke his way through the plastic wrap, he and the others try and decipher what these passes mean.

It couldn’t be as simple as driving in a straight line or with cars, and Daesung wonders if the staff will try to tie them together into a six-legged unit. In the other car, Suk-jin complains how hot it is in here. He has good reason to, because Jae-suk turned on the heated seat function for him. Hahaha.

Cut to: BIGBANG passed out in the car. Aww, poor fellas.

Their second mission takes place in a stream where they’ll be playing a 5 vs. 5 spongeball basketball. And if the previews are any indication, some will lose some layers (and maybe their boxer briefs) in the scuffle.

Only GD could make wearing a towel on one’s head look fashionable and pretty. Daesung makes the first basket with a slam dunk and Taeyang follows with another shot. Determined to impress, Gary gets possession of the ball, and goes for the layup… that hits the rim and out.

TOP then scores a slam dunk, leaving Ji-hyo thoroughly impressed. The score 3:0 in favor of BIGBANG, Kwang-soo tries throwing the ball behind him. Too bad Seung-ri picks it up and Taeyang goes for the long shot. It goes in. Oh yeah, fantastic baby.

Jae-suk subs in for Suk-jin, who then cheers for BIGBANG out of spite. Despite being on the bench, Suk-jin goes ahead with interference, which allows the RM cast to score their first point.

Citing that he’s unaware of what his hand does, Jong-kook gladly suggests that that hand meet his fist then.

When Taeyang’s basket is pushed back out and the other team scores, Jong-kook makes a complaint. The score remains, and Jong-kook threatens to use American football tactics against them.

Doing so allows GD to score another point followed by another. Ever the icon of rule-breaking, Kwang-soo smacks Jong-kook’s head with the spongeball before throwing it in to grab his team’s third point.

He gives a showy apology after it, which is met with a barrage of hits. Kwang-soo gets his physical revenge moments later, beating down on Jong-kook.

Then later TOP throws the ball and gets an assist from Daesung. It’s a great one-two punch basket — rewind, replay!

Not long after Daesung tells the viewers that he is no longer the heodang character like he was on Family Outing, he trips and falls into the water. Smoooth. And his second attempt to steal the ball from behind ends up with him in the water again.

In the umpteenth attempt to steal the ball away, GD and Kwang-soo end up in the deeper end of the river. A little while later, the score is 10:9 in favor of the gladiators, and Suk-jin misses the rebound by a hair.

GD receives the ball to score another point, and it isn’t long before he’s caught in another scuffle with Kwang-soo. Somewhere in the pile-up, Jong-kook cries at them not to pull down his pants, but it’s too late—they’re already off.

Jong-kook has no choice but to sit in the water pant-less, then Taeyang is their next target. Holy crap, there must be a fangirl fainting out there somewhere. Daesung’s attempt to return them is blocked by an interception, and the distraction lets the RM cast score another point.

GD is targeted soon enough, but somehow Taeyang reclaims his pants in time to help him. Jae-suk ties up the score 11:11, earning him the new nickname Yoo-bron James. Jong-kook is on his knees asking for his pants back.

Despite the others letting that moment sink in, Jong-kook is still plenty scary with his shirt wrapped around his hips. Then Jong-kook gets his revenge by pulling Kwang-soo’s pants down.

To make matters worse, he’s holding onto three people by now, allowing TOP to tie up the score again 13:13. The teams only need to make two more baskets each to win.

The merchant scores a point, and before Jong-kook can pass off the ball, Kwang-soo pulls down the shirt wrapped around him too. Why hello gray underwear.

One ripped shirt later… but wait, that’s Kwang-soo with the aforementioned underwear! Is Jong-kook… naked underneath the water?! Jae-suk: “Here, we’ll dry it for you.” And so they hang it on a mic boom. AHAHAHAHA.

With Jong-kook temporarily on the bench, we rejoin the game at 14:14. Eventually Haha gets the ball in to snag another point and the win. At least the ripped clothes gives us a nice look at Spartakook’s pecs.

Afterward, Jae-suk tells him to cover himself up—this is a family show, after all. The RM cast chooses “short” and “big”, then it’s off to the final mission.

It’s sunset by the time they arrive at the track, where they’re told of the final obstacle race. Jong-kook explains how they can’t “go” if they don’t succeed the mini-mission, to which Daesung asks: “Home?” Jong-kook: “No, driving to the next station.” Ha, can you blame the kid?

Furthermore, they’ll be picking up one of the passes they’ve acquired today at each station. They’re told of said stations ahead of time, including downing either sodas or waters, weaving through (or walking straight) on abacuses, circling around to make sure their long or short sticks don’t fall, and lastly destroying a structure to retrieve the bundle lying on top.

Once they arrive at the finish line, all of their team members must get and climb into the one car that will take theme back to their respective point in history.

Jong-kook: “Say if we both arrive at the same time, it’ll turn into a brawl.” Taek PD: “Do whatever you like.” Haha: “Why would you say that?” Taeyang: “What if they try pulling his pants down again?”

Our gladiators feel confident that they’ve made the right choices for this mission. Looking at TOP from the other car, Suk-jin wonders if he should copy his hairstyle. Kwang-soo: “You do have the same hairstyle as him.” It just, you know, gives off a different vibe.

Both cars gun it as soon as the light turns green. Jong-kook pulls ahead but the passengers in both cars are left impressed at how their drivers maneuvers those tight corners.

Everyone piles out at the first station, and the merchants get to work in downing their sodas. Even though TOP is faster in drinking his water, the playing field evens out because they must successfully flip their cups before moving on to the next person.

Given how well Jong-kook and Taeyang flip their cups over, one can only wonder if they’ve played this drinking game before. Kwang-soo is still drinking his when Seung-ri flips his cup over. He and the others make a run for it.

At the second station, GD hops out as the team rep to roll his way in a straight shot on abacuses. The RM cast isn’t that far behind, and whoa—Gary’s pretty speedy.

Rolling his way past the finish line, GD rejoins his team, who is momentarily stalled when Jae-suk parks right in front of them. But Jae-suk arrives to the third station moments after they do. Here, five from each team must hand off their sticks to the next person without dropping them until they make a full rotation.

After a few failed attempts, both teams think of tipping their sticks toward the following person. Both teams call out their final hand-offs simultaneously—the gladiators succeed; the RM cast doesn’t.

The gladiators arrive at the fourth station where Jong-kook and TOP immediately throw themselves into the structure. Jae-suk and Kwang-soo aren’t that far behind, and just as TOP tries to grab his team’s bundle, a few of the other blocks fall on top of him. Ouuch.

Both teams retrieve their bundles and run back, and now it’s the final spurt. Just as Jong-kook turns the final corner, we see Jae-suk not too far off. Who will get into that car first?

Everyone piles out and as expected, things turn into a brawl in the jeep. All the gladiators apart from Daesung are inside, the latter busy pinning Kwang-soo in a leglock. Kwang-soo persists, however, grabbing onto Daesung’s legs…

… then Jong-kook finally pushes him away. Once the door closes, it’s official: the gladiators have won. They whoop over returning to Rome and yell, “Sparta!” Er, y’all should probably check your history textbooks.

Then it’s back to the past, then to the closing where TOP comments on how nice it is to have all his team members here with him today. Seung-ri says it’s just nice to appear on Korean TV (he’s mainly been working in Japan and appearing on variety shows there).

Daesung says it’s good to see his fellow Family Outing hyungs, and GD promises to come back whenever they get invited over to play again. Please do—we’ll be waiting.

I am so glad that Bigbang are really going all out with variety shows this time around. And also they are connecting more to us (fans), with TOP opening his instagram, and their NAVER live cast, and personal TVs which they said they will do.

Never have loved Bigbang this much. And this episode was HILARIOUS. Daesung was just.... haha! And TOP going all out in the first game.
I wonder why Seungri didn't speak much, since he is the most talkative in the group, too shy in variety shows?

Yup, Seungri was quiet in this episode. Kvips said he has a cold or something and that's why he's not as active in this ep. You could tell he still gave it his best though! :)

IDK, Seungri seems way too quiet for his usual personality for this comeback, but maybe it's just like the other members said and he just matured and doesn't like to act silly anymore. It's a shame though. His goofiness was very entertaining.

Seungri being almost non existent was the ONLY part i didn't like, this episode was so fun and i expected to see him go all out being also competitive and fierce(their 1st appearance on BB,the tag/bells is still my ultimate favorite)yet i think he wasn't in his game,he must have been tired with all their packed sheldule,he was even sleeping in the car,i think he felt it more than others

Seungri wasn't that active in their previous RM episodes either though. He usually does better in talk shows than the more physical ones, where Dae shines more with his body gags.

Not to worry though! Seungri's goofiness is shown in the Bigbang special of Happy Together! He really REALLY gives the scoop of every member.

The PDs tried hard to spice it up and added so many captions but it can't make up for the boring footage. This idol group is just not entertaining. Don't see them joking among themselves or have good chemistry dynamics. The interactions are dismal. It's better they come as individuals. It's also a mistake to put Kookie with them. He made them more boring. Maybe they don't talk so much around him since he is the leader and they take a backseat and defer too much.

If only Daesung and Seungri had come they would have killed it. But I agree TOP and Taeyang are not big on talking and GD's stamina is very low. Actually not many Kpop group are funny as a whole team. Shinhwa and B2ST will be an exception, if we take out a few members Infinite and SHINee are funny in general.
Funny in girlgroups is still a foreign concept maybe Kara a bit after Youngji joined.

This was better than the other BB ep (the 2-stage name tag ripping game was pretty boring), but aside from Daesung (and his body gags), it was the RM gang providing the banter, laughs and (this time) "naughty bits."

Agree that having an ep w/ just Daesung and Seungri guesting would be better (even tho Seungri was pretty much absent from this ep, as stated above, he was not feeling well and he also does better in a more intimate, smaller group setting) the next time out.

Even a decade (or more) ago, all the members of Shinhwa were pretty adept at variety.

As for girl groups (or former members) - it's pretty much Hyori, Han Sunwha and Narsha for talking/body gags and Bora for athletic games (tho UEE seemed much improved based on her last outing and Taeyeon is usually fun as well) w/ Suzy getting the nod for Ssireum, taking over th.at mantle from YEH).

I know that they are one of the more "stage" dress/style K-pop groups out there, but that fluorescent colored hair is really ridiculous and years from know, they are going to look as silly as those glamor pop metal bands from the 80s (w/ their spandex, make-up and pouffaint hair).

And there have been plenty before GD who would fashion the towel on their head like-so (such as Chajumma).

I enjoyed it tremendously. Laughed till I cried, w the the basketball game in the river; and the competitiveness in the final game. I was nervous as heck when they tried to push their faces thru the saran wrap. I was afraid sb was gonna suffocate to Death!
How can one be so talented and so handsome? God isn't fair.

With a group this famous you have to expect these type of comments. Not everyone enjoys others' success. If someone considers this boring (which I'm not saying they can't, everyone has different tastes) they wouldn't bother insisting on how awful this was or how much they hated it, they would just say they weren't entertained. It's redundant, unless you really want to hate on a particular group.

Such a sour comment based on nothing, lol. With a group this famous you'll have to expect butthurt fans' comments whenever their idols are criticised or make strawmen arguments that the commentors have a multitude of reasons like they are jealous or dislike the group.

Look, your idols just don't have the talent to entertain in variety, not as a group. Simple as that. They are better as individuals, although not TOP. He appeared in the generally agreed and condemned worst ever RM episode in 170. It was terrible.

Boring is "not entertaining", I wonder why we have to use a thesaurus to comment. We watch every RM episode and comment whether it's a good episode or not. Your idol are just guests in one episode to us, whether they make it or not is up to them, every guest in every episode will be commented on. And in this episode, nah, it is not good. Boring.

I do have to agree that I was looking forward to this Bigbang special. But the last special they had with Bigbang back in 2012 was a lot better (ep 84-85). I thought that the last missions didn't give enough room to ad-lib or slapstick but maybe that's just me. Aside from that, I really do think Bigbang is funny (look at their recent special for Happy Together) and that maybe both parties is at fault a little for the lack of laughter.

Tbh the concept is boring. Don't get me wrong I love Bigbang but the writer could do something better with the games and concept, and because it's Bigbang I expected for more. Well Running Man has been boring but for once I want them to go back to old concept of finding the guest, less game but more intense. That way the guests can stand out too.
Well but who am I to kid when I got to see TOP more on screen.

Worst episode this year. I usually like guests to win but this was just too much. Obviously skewed towards BigBang winning. I'm not a BigBang fan but I really loved their guest stint at RM last time. Some things I hated:

- team distribution. Come on writers! KJK w/ BB? Obvious from the start who would win. Maybe they should have mixed it up, added other guests for balance, or maybe JK should have been less obvious and let BB shine.

- the games. Again, I hate when they let teams choose so one gets more advantage. They should have made things the same for everybody. I would've liked it if they did another nametag ripping episode instead. I usually dislike RM cheating but in this instance, I cheered (the only time I did) when they took off JK's clothes. Since the RM team have been doing this for years, they almost caught up with BB team at the end, but there was juat too much against them.

That's all I remember because I want to forget this episode existed. Can't remember the last time I fast forwarded an RM ep. I didn't even ff when Choi Min-soo & Park Bo-young guested because at least there was tension and it was funny-scary even if it was obvious the Hunter would win.

Agree. The guests are not just 'some' rookie idols/actors or those who appear on varieties a lot, but they make it so underwhelming. The 'back in time' concept is ridiculous to begin with I really can't.... I kinda feel bad for them. They must have been tired from promoting, but they have to play under the sun all day. I honestly want 'find the guest' or hunting games. It's tiring but at least more interesting (+indoor).

Nah. I'm a fan of Bigbang and I watched ep 84-85 of Running Man with Bigbang guested on it, and the situations/games in this episode made the show very lacking this week. I really do think that this episode made Bigbang look less funny and involved. But I have to agree with other commenters on here. Why would you group KJK with BB together? It really made me root for the RM team because of the inequality between the two teams.

Eh, that double name-tag ep w/ BB was more boring; at least here, Daesung and the RM gang proferred some laughs.

"Worst episode this year"...? I think that's a bit farfetched (considering last week's episode with UEE).
I personally found it entertaining and fun. Sure the games weren't any sort of new concept but the BB members did well with what they got.
They were all so hardworking and bright despite how obviously tired they were form their promotions. Never seen TOP work so hard or smile so much. Daesung was hilarious and Taeyang was amazing in the basketball game.

It could have been more entertaining and fun if there were some changes as mentioned in my post. I'm not hating on BB, but it seemed this episode wasn't really about them (which should've been), it was more like KJK's team vs. RM team. It's a shame because I knew they were trying hard to win but KJK's presence overwhelmed them. If not Jaesuk, then Gary or Haha in their team would've been more fun I guess.

I try not to get annoyed by and at JK in RM and I do feel sad when he's injured or whatnot, but for some reason I found him to be an a** in this episode and was glad when RM team cheated on the second game. He should've tried to be more subtle about helping BB win rather than lead & dominate with his strength. I'm not saying he shouldn't have done his best, just that he should be less obvious about it since this episode was not about him.

So impressed that Yoo Jae Suk's a semi-pro racer! In addition to his many talents and shows!

The plastic wrap looked really tough to break through - I had breathing difficulties just watching it.

The river basketball was my favourite segment - it evened out the score, so to speak, even though the game was obviously geared in favour of BB.

Liked the latest Happy Together segment with BigBang as well.

It's a bit harsh to judge them like that from one appearance on one variety show (filled with comedians who you've already seen make any sort of joke that exists). Big Bang aren't on SuJu or 2pm level of idol funny but they hold their own.
Besides we can't expect everyone in a group to be funny, if you check out some other stuff you'll find Daesung and Seungri are pretty hilarious and even TOp when he goes bingu

Definitely! Daesung and TOP on Family Outing was hilarious. The Happy Together ep with BB had me laughing even though that show usually doesn't make me laugh. And even the past RM eps with BB (especially ep 84-85) got me laughing a ton! I really don't think it's a different sense of humor. It's just different circumstances. (I love 2PM too, but I actually don't find them that funny- as in belly popping funny- to watch; it's more of a "awww, you're adorbs" type of funny) As for this ep, I actually think the writers did a poor job in assigning teams and games. It doesn't leave as much room for ad-lib; much more scripted that usual feel?

I enjoyed the first 35 mins of this episode, but after things got out of hand in the second segment (basketball game), things went downhill for me pretty fast.

I'm all for fun and rough games (including most of the tricks and cheating that have been going on in the past couple of hundred RM eps), but i feel that what the RM team did to win that second game has gone beyond the pale. They could have incapacitated KJK in many ways (they have done that to him and other members so many times in the past and I have mostly accepted them as par for the course because it's, well, a variety show), but pulling off his pants and ganging up against him, then taking him and another BB member out of the game in that way did not even seem funny or entertaining at all, which was usually the reason why these shenanigans have been tolerated in the past. This time, it just seemed mean and unnecessarily spiteful (the potential payback from KJK in some future episode hardly makes it any better). In fact, it left a sour taste in my mouth. If this was some desperate gag to revitalize the show or improve its ratings, the effort backfired with an uncomfortably jarring thud (for me, anyway).

Maybe that's just me, but I think it would have done things a world of good if the staff had edited the whole sequence and placed more focus more on the game, or at least inserted some rules to draw the line somewhere. Or, if they really wanted the RM team to win in this segment, they could have just instructed the other team to "ease off" a bit -- they have clearly done this several times in the past -- so as to make the game a bit more interesting and competitive.

Finishing the rest of the episode was a painful struggle -- I guess, I was basically searching for whatever reason I could cling to so I could keep on watching RM after this. The fact that the BB team and KJK managed to win in the end felt like a hollow consolation. By then, though, all of my remaining enthusiasm for RM just evaporated. This is no longer the same show that I have enjoyed for years. Something in it has changed for me (and not in a good way).

*sigh* I was so determined to keep on watching RM for a few more years, regardless of its ups and downs. I wasn't even bothered by the fact that it has been largely listless and uninspired these past few months -- as reflected by its steadily declining ratings, and I think I'm beginning to understand why.

This marks the final (full) RM episode for me. Certainly, I will be watching some of the old episodes that I really liked, which I have downloaded and stored all this time. But for now, I'm signing off from this bandwagon, and finally -- and regretfully -- admit to myself that RM has become a pale shadow of its former self.

Note: If this had happened to another RM member (JSJ, Ha-ha, Gary, etc.), I would still have been similarly turned off and reacted the in same way.

I long got turned off this show and only tuned in for big bang and I loved big bang but the episode was not really great. They were trying very hard to make it fun and epic but it didn't work. I was also horrified at that section with KJK. that wasn't messing around, that was bullying. They took it way, way, way too far and it was uncomfortable to watch. But then kwang soo has always annoyed me and this just gives me another reason. There is fun cheating and then there is this.

It makes me really sad to hear so many people have gotten so tired and wary of the show =/ I mean I understand as yeah I know the earlier episodes were considerably more exciting and interesting but idk maybe I'm just more optimistic as running man holds a very special place in my heart. Hopefully some episode or another in the future changes your mind or the show picks up some steam again!

Ohh your Kim Jong Kook was bullied ohhh god, im so sorry for you.
Many people are really hypocritical, if it was kwang soo the naked one all will be laughs.
Kwang Soo and Jae Suk make the show funny, and are the stars of the show right now, they can make whatever they want.
Kim Joong Kook is unfunny in RM and totally annoying playing games.
Kwang Soo was treat worst than that and was humilliated worst in the last five years of the show, he deserves that from episode 247 and more...
That is running man and it was many other naked scenes, like episode 105, jae suk opens the bathroom and kwang soo was naked on the shower. Gary sleeping naked in the Austrlia episode. Sukjin was almost naked in episode 218 and many other...
This is Running Man... that's normal... and if Jong Kook has problems about this scene the scene was edited out.

If you have bothered to read the whole comment, you would have easily realized that it wasn't meant for KJK alone -- I would have felt the same way if it had happened anyone else.

I was expressing my viewpoint, and because you don't agree with somebody else's opinion, you immediately label that person as "hypocritical"? Wow, you must one one hell of a great individual then. Obviously you are entitled to your own self-satisfied, smug and sarcastic opinion, but that hardly gives you the right to belittle somebody else's comment.

There had been many cases where I felt sorry about LKS (as well as others, but mostly LKS) being the "butt" of jokes too (and I wish they didn't happen, but they did). This was simply the last straw for me.

KJK can be funny, but most of the KJK-related humor comes from others poking fun at Kookie (same thing w/ Ms. Mong).

Kwang-soo can liven things up, but he still sometimes goes a bit too far where it ends up being ridiculous/too over-the-top.

Sukjin has his moments, as does Haha (and Ji-hyo when "bad" Ji-hyo appears), but aside from YSJ, the one who has consistently proffered laughs has been Gary w/ his quick quips.

@ Rikko - what does being hypocritical got to do with this episode. if a viewer found certain scenes inappropriate and a bit disturbing, they have every right to comment about it. RM had young viewers & I applaud vigilant viewers who bring it to the open forum when they feel lines have been crossed for the sake of being so called 'funny' or entertaining. speaking their honest views does not in any way violate yours or anyone's rights, does it? no need to go on the defensive. If nudity in any form or for whatever reason doesn't bother you then that's your personal choice. You are the one being hypocritical when you try to dismiss other people's opinions just bec it differs from yours. There is such a thing as a fine line between what is inappropriate & appropriate. Is it really that difficult for you to practice common courtesy & respect other's opinions?

I was similarly horrified when they stripped KJK. Although most people found it hilarious, it made me really uncomfortable. Stealing his pants were enough to incapacitate him imo, he looked visibly self-conscious and wasn't able to play well.

I thought YJS would return his underwear but well, I was a little disappointed.

Forcibly stripping someone IS a criminal act in many parts of the world. I don't know what sort of law it is in Korea. And then filming it with cameras for the world to see adds yet another layer to the issue. This whole thing crossed the line. They can't laugh it off as variety.

Kookie didn't seem too upset when they mentioned it in this past Sunday's ep (which, btw, is a lot funnier).

Let's get real, if KJK was so upset about it, it would have been edited out.

The RM members have all hit/slapped, kicked, bit, etc. each other - which would be assault and battery in the real world.

Playground fighting cannot be compared to assault and battery where there are real injuries. Stripping someone naked is stripping thou. It's a ridiculous comparison.

I totally enjoyed this episode! Seeing as the running man team cheats, I think having gook was a good thing. But their only advantage was in stage one. I thought this episode was hilarious and it made me love BigBang (I'm only into dramas and movies so I only know TOP).

this episode was kinda boring, i didnt even bother to watch the second mission as i HATE sporta things, this is not a sports game, even with all these cheating.

also, i hate the fact KJK is with Big Bang as it removes the competiveness, when can we see a name tag ripping time? i wanted to see it for over a year.and i am STILL waiting...

KJK does have health problems, so anything strenuous is actually harmful to him. Not sure if you have seen all the tape on his body. But on Healing Camp, he does talk about the difficulties he has on RM because of his image on the show. I suggest you watching that Healing Camp ep because it really gives us viewers a new light on KJK.

"Pristine idol image"? haha what? As much as I love BigBang, even the members would agree that they're anything but pristine.

Speaking of the show, the games could have been better, but let's face it, the majority of the people tuned in just to see BigBang and the producers knew that, so they didn't bother coming up with something more interesting. And it seems it worked since the ratings were pretty damn good. Let's hope next time they'll come up with a better plan though. With all the work Bigbang is doing these days (as evidenced by them falling asleep in the middle of the game because of how exhausted they are) they deserved better.

Have to agree with you on some things. Big Bang were bound to up the ratings but the PDs really tried hard not to try at all. And it makes people assume Big Bang are boring where in fact the PDs could have been more creative. the members were exhausted like you said so why not do an indoor game like quizzes or eating? it would have been better that way and BB would have more energy by the end.

Agreed completely! With a quiz game, they could have at least came up with more jokes than that last mission they did at the racetrack. I really hope people don't think BB is boring, because the RM eps they were on in the past were really fun to watch.

Unfortunately RM ratings were not improved much by Big Bang's guesting. Very disappointing.

May 24
8.1%

May 31
10.3%

Jun 7 (This episode)
10.7%

And Big Bang's Happy Together's appearance recorded the lowest rating in the show's history for 9? months. Some audiences knew enough to stay away whenever there is an idol special.

I love Big Bang, but I agree that this ep of RM was a little boring in some places, and it honestly could have ben a lot funnier if there was a different premise.

As for the Happy Together episode, ratings mayhave been low but it was one of the most hilarious episodes I've seen. The members really shined and provided some excellent laughs. That episode was gold.

Think the games were fine - just that most BB members don't have outgoing personalities (aside from Daesung and Seungri) and aren't adept at variety (which is why it was the RM gang that provided most of the laughs).

If it had been Shinwha, instead of BB, doing the exact same games, would have been a lot funnier.

Staying in a country where k dramas ain't that popular, dramabeans the only source to know about the different shows. ~Thank you ~ Dramabeans.
I have always followed running man on dramabeans but this was among one of the episodes I needed to download and I was really glad to do it as I was ROFL from the moment I started watching this ep and all to the very end.
Bigbang were really the shining stars today but somewhere while becoming that they totally cracked out their idol images.. heh. Daesung .. when we started thinking that he improved jst had to prove himself to be the same heodang. And the dial race was so funny where YB and DS jst kept spinning on&on. And I didn't believe that I wud say this but "Poor Kookie" he totally got stripped ..hah. GD cud nt resist frm competing for the ball against giraffe. And also poor YB he even got his pants taken off. And it was also hillarious to watch YB biting Haroro. Overall this episode was a tummy acher.. You jst can't stop laughing for a moment. Lots and lots if ROFL and LMAO moments.
BIGBANG please do visit again. ♥♥♥♥♥

I couldn't help wondering thru the episode what if Yoo Jae Suk had been the "captain" of the Big Bang team, instead of Jong-kook. Big Bang might have been more vocal, especially Daesung, if they had, and there would be more moments the production time could have used. Instead we got the fighting between RM members & the pants stealing bit, which I think did cross the line. Playfully trying to pull down members pants has happened in past episodes, but I don't recall any time where one person was ganged up on and stripped totally naked. Kwang soo frequent loses his pants during an episode, but he usually does it to himself, and that is fine to me, since that's his choice.
All that said, I enjoy RM tremendously, and even if this isn't going to be one of my favorite episodes, I'm very thankful to all the people who work hard to bring us RM every week!

It probably would have been better if YJS could have been the captain for the BB team. His MCing talent and ability to draw guests out of their shells is incomparable. I do think LKS and Haha got the slapstick comedy covered for the RM team, so if YJS went to the BB team, it would have made the ep more humorous and BB focused, rather than KJK focused.

Wow, I had mixed feelings about this episode, but lost track of the reading through the over the top reactions of the Big Bang anti fans and the defensiveness of the fans.

Putting JK on the same team as a group of healthy, athletic young men and running athletic contests seems ridiculously unfair. Hard to get the logic behind that.

Overall, I don't have much interest in episodes like this because I have no interest in boy groups and therefore no stake in the action.

The other down side in having a boy group in doing jock games is that Ji Hyo has no role to play. She was virtually invisible in most of the show. Too bad.

Wow why people saying this is boring episode. Well I guess everybody have different taste. I like it so more than the last BigBang appear back in 2012 . Didn't expect that much since BigBang is not that good in variety show (except for Daesung and Seungri). But I'm so glad the member trying so hard on this show except that they less talking which is a waste. The only thing I didn't like about BB on this show is Seungri is so passive and he seem invisible here considering he is the most active and talkative out all BB member. I guess they must been so tired from full pack schedule since they even pass out in the car. (Lol Seungri shading that he happy to appear on Korean tv show. Hope their CEO let them appear more on variety show especially for seungri and Daesung because these two so good at it)
I love every game they play even the clock games seem a bit draggy but overall its quite entertaining. I know RM have been gotten boring but this and that jajjangmyun episode is so much fun.

Don't take it so seriously, that's his on-screen variety schtick (being so big and strong that he can boss around or even manhandle his hyungs).

In real life, he's real respectful of them.

And on the show, everyone, including Ji-hyo has been "disrespectful" of Suk-jin, much less each other (which is a sign of how comfortable they are w/ each other).

The more the RM members make fun of a guest shows how much closer/comfortable they are w/ said guest.

If you really watch rm since long ago, the one who most disrespectful was sjh and lks. With sjh hitting, kicking and pulling hair same with lks too even hitting his hyungs head. Never once i think i saw kjk hitting yjs and jsj head or harm them badly no matter how close they are. But they do that just for entertaining but we can see the differences between profesional who do a lot of shows compare to amateur who only doing one or two show and dont know the limit. Thats why a lot of pds from other show want kjk because they know his real ability and personality. Some of you may find he is annoying but do remember something that rm pd choose kjk as member he likes the most in interview in the past. And for producer drama, eventhough the story goes around about 1n2d, but kjk was the one the production team want even from the planning stage eventhough kjk was well known as rm member. Thats how much kjk's value among industry insider.

I was somewhat disappointed with this episode but still enjoyed some aspect of it. When I first saw that KJK is going to be in the BB team, I immediately knew who the winner is going to be. It's very obvious that the writers are pushing for a BB win because the team distribution was imbalanced.

Now for the KJK stripping part, I was happy that he got taken out of the game because it gave Team RM a fairer playing field. However, I did think it was too much for LKS to strip him completely naked. I hope this doesn't become a regular occurrence in future episodes.

The games themselves were pretty enjoyable. Both teams tried their hardest and there were some funny moments.

Wow, so many comments for a RM episode. I'm surprised people feel so strongly about this episode, but I guess it must be due to the desk. I thought this episodes was about on par for this year. There were some really funny moments, especially in the first half (mostly due to physical comedy), but the second half started to drag.

I also was one of the ones who felt uncomfortable about the stripping. If they'd stopped at the pants I don't think I would have minded but, yeah, I think it went too far.

What's up with most of the comments? I enjoyed this episode and they all tried hard at the games. Its just that the concept was too much about playing so there wasn't much interactions.

I also agree with the person who said YJS should have been on the bigbang team, since that way he would have made it more entertaining rather than just competitive feeling.

Only the basketball part provided some fun, the whole concept was garbage.
Since the leave of Troll PD (aka Grab-collar PD), RM has went downhill. There still were good episodes, but bad episodes has appeared a lot more. Changing RM cast won't solve the problem, they must change the PDs and the writers. There has already been a lot of episodes which was supposed to be good but they became so-so or bad because of bullshit concept or bad editing. Some episodes with so-so concept were good because of RM cast's super effort or great guest.
Bad PD + writers has disabled a lot of cast members. Some cast members don't want to be passive but there aren't many chance for them to shine (no more Sudden Commander Gary, Mischievous Haha, Ace Ji Hyo, Race-Starter JSJ). The staffs keep seperating them or making pointless/unfair games which make thing anticlimactic.

Addition: reason why i want to change PD is because of Infinite Challenge and 2D1N. These 2 shows have super troll PD (Kim Tae Ho and Yu Ho Jin). Both shows have something like PD torture/troll cast, cast object or obey in disbelief, cast revenge when having chance, then PD revenge ... It provided a lot of fun and interaction between staff and cast.

They are actually very respectful, and not all of them are that confident in variety - with Daesung, Seungri and occasionally Top often standing out most. There are plenty of shows where they are more open and their humour really stands out there.

As for them sleeping - are you aware that they were planning for a world tour, making their albums and promoting the songs already released? Off course they would be exhausted!

Bad things:
* First game wasn't that good
* They need to stop having Big Bang vs RM. It's more fun if they'd pair up everyone. Imagine seeing Daesung and YJS in a team again - would be really fun!
