She Was Pretty confirms leads, adds Park Yoo-hwan, Kang Su-jin

MBC’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama She Was Pretty has confirmed its leading cast: Kill Me, Heal Me costars Hwang Jung-eum and Park Seo-joon will be reuniting, this time as love interests, and second leads Go Jun-hee (Yawang) and Choi Siwon (King of Dramas) have also signed on. The drama about a reversal of fortunes — in money and looks — will be a romantic comedy about “finding hidden first loves.” I guess those physical changes are going to be pretty drastic if they can’t even recognize each other.
Hwang Jung-eum will headline the series as the heroine who goes from life as a rich princess in her youth to adulthood as a poor, ugly woman, thanks to her family’s latent ugly gene. Park Seo-joon’s fate is in the reverse, naturally — he starts out as a socially awkward overweight nerd, and grows up to be a modelesque beautiful man. But the physical changes aren’t the only reason they don’t recognize each other as adults: It turns out that Hwang Jung-eum has her best friend Go Jun-hee pretend to be her on occasion, creating an actual case of mistaken identity. OH.
Everyone will be connected through a magazine publisher, where Park Seo-joon’s character works as a copy editor and Siwon is the features editor. Park Yoo-hwan (or, as we like to call him around here, Yoobro) has joined the cast as the stylish mascot and assistant on the fashion editing team, a year after his last drama I Need Romance 3. Hopefully it’s an interesting role with something more to do than be cute on the sidelines.
Newbie Kang Su-jin has also joined the cast as a beauty editor who has to juggle planning her wedding while working her full-time job. She was actually in Kill Me, Heal Me as one of the doctors, but more memorable in Ex-Girlfriend Club as Song Ji-hyo’s coworker with good comic timing. She makes the most of small roles, and should round out the supporting cast nicely.
Now that we know there will be mistaken identity hijinks to be had, this drama’s looking a bit more enticing, plotwise. The premise is still a little eye-rolly, but hey, crazier-sounding things have ended up runaway hits.
She Was Pretty follows Scholar Who Walks the Night in September.

Poor boy probably has a one sided crush when they were both young. And try to have a sweet revenge after knowing she turn ugly but of cos ended up in love. Before that we need to have that mistaken identity just like a good old fashioned kdrama.
And I like to see choi siwon outshine his king of drama character before he enlists this year. I like his sense of humor.

I love the chemistry of HJE and PSJ from KMHM. so I'll be positive about this drama. as this is the last project of Siwon before he enlist, might as well watch it. ?? and..... Him and Siwon in the same drama? Whooo hooo so excited for the dramallamadingdongs! But Siwon is pretty chill, I wonder if he even knows who Yoohwan's brother is. The fans will probably be the overdramatic ones about it lol.

Simon definitely knows who Yoohwan's brother is. LOL he's been pretty chill overall with people who've left, so I suppose there won't be much drama. Though it'd be cute if Siwon and Yoochun can meet up or something through Yoohwan. :)

I really like the leads here! Definitely on my watch list. Hope the writing is good. The leads had good chemistry as siblings in KMHM so I'm curious to see how they'll be as love interests. PSJ is quite handsome, so at least there's eye candy! :)

This drama is really fast in locking down leads and the cast which gives me hope about the script. I look forward to it, most of the cast seems to have past interactions with one another some way or the other and proven chemistry between the leads, this has the potential to be a good drama, fingers crossed. This summer has been disappointing so I hope it turns out well.

Aww, I'm happy to see Kang Su-jin get a bigger role! I really liked her in Ex-Girlfriend Club.
I'm not sure what to think of the story, but maybe the execution will be more appealing than the synopsis. Sometimes dramas that are great on paper turn out to be terrible, and sometimes dramas that sound weird and/or bad pleasantly surprise you. I hope this is the latter.

The queen of over-acting melodramatic lousy and ugly actress - Hwang Jung-eum - is back. Someone needs to erase her from Korean Entertainment. She ruins every single drama she is in. Every role she has ever taken - would have been better performed by many others. I feel sad for the talented and beautiful your actors.

I wish they would've cast moon chae won opposite park seo joon instead. They're like my kdrama dream pairing atm (well actually, MCW with kim soo hyun is #1 but her and PSJ come super close) I just love MCW and want her back on the all screen, o miss her beautiful face ??

Hwang Jung eum is leading actress on this drama. She is first choise of this drama. Casting producer considers her acting work. Drama title is "She Was Pretty." She is Hwang Jung eum. Antifans! If you want other actress, why not watch other drama? Other actress? Does Park seo jun make mistake? He desides his choice. Why don't trust him?
