Kim Nam-gil up for thriller opposite Seolhyun, Sol Kyung-gu

Kim Nam-gil (Shark) as Seolhyun’s boyfriend? That is such an odd pairing, I don’t even know what to make of it. The idol actress who recently had her first headlining role as a teen vampire in Orange Marmalade was recently cast in the new thriller film Murderer’s Guide to Memory — she’s up for the role of a murderer’s daughter, and Sol Kyung-gu (Hope) will play the titular murderer. Kim Nam-gil is reportedly considering the film, in which he’d play the daughter’s boyfriend.
And I was totally going to make jokes about it being a dangerous sport to date a murderer’s daughter… but the movie is actually about the murderer dad trying to kill the boyfriend! Seriously. The film is about a “retired serial killer” who gets diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and struggles to hold onto his rapidly fading memories. Dad hasn’t killed anyone in 25 years, but in the face of losing his memories, he plans one last murder to protect his daughter.
The daughter is in love with her boyfriend, but he’s apparently suspected of murder himself, which must be why Dad suddenly makes him the target of his final killing. I dunno, this plot sounds crazy. But it’s based on a novella (by Kim Young-ha) and the focus seems to be on the father’s battle with his own demons more than anything, so perhaps the boyfriend-killing isn’t as insane as it sounds on paper.
Murderer’s Guide to Memory will be directed by Won Shin-yeon (The Suspect, Seven Days) and plans to start shooting in late September for a release next year.

Seolhyun is confirmed for the role already? Nice. She was actually not bad in Orange Marmalade, I kinda wished the drama have sticked with the school concept (and this is coming from someone who have not read the webtoon) but oh well. What is done is done.

OMG!!! it's like brakes don't exist in the k-dramaland. They don't seem to be that popular in any Asian-cinemasphere.
I'd seen more people mowed down just stepping into the street after a year of watching of K-drama and Bollywood (south asian) movies than I did watching cartoons as a child. I'm actually curious if it's a real problem there or just a convenient plot device like "retrograde amnesia.

The idol-actress was better than lots of so-called actresses in OM but this one may be out of her league. We shall see...:-)

Seolhyun will be in this movie with Sol Kyung Gu. Before that Yeo Jin Goo also in war movie with SKK and later in that drama with SH. What a connection. For sure, once it premiere, YJG will come to support both of them.

He picked this after she had already signed on as the girlfriend... Hmmmm. He looks too old for her. Period. It has an "grownassman creeping on a high school kid" vibe. I already feel like wishing "good luck" to the murderous-alzheimer-inflicted dad on that final kill.

people here are always sooo overly concerned about age gap thing as if none of it exist in real world, and regardless if it does or not...must everything in drama/movie land be perfectly ethical? maybe that's the intention of the script who knows...it's not like teenage/young girl attracted to bad guy oppar(or even ahjussi) is unheard of...

I found her beyond terrible in OM. She had like the same exact expression in 90% of the scenes. I get that she's gorgeous but she hardly has the charm that makes an idol like Suzy so likeable.
But whatever. The bigger issue is this insane plot. LOL, that's such a whacko premise that I'd pay to watch how ridiculous it will be.

'The Great Queen Seondeok' got me into Kdrama with Kim Nam-Gil's rôle and Sol Kying-Gul has helped keep me going in the super 'Orange Marmalade' miniseries.
Any drama that has these two should be pretty interesting.

I've seen shameless, well as if Kim Nam Gil also died in this movie because he was stab and just walk without asking for help and the movie end. About this movie Murderer will he also die in the end?.... Hope not I like happy ending just like his movie Pirates... I enjoy watching Kim Nam Gil, He's such a Brilliant Actor. Hope he's next project will be romance/ comedy Or historical again but with happy ending.
