Liar Game PD-writer team reunites for new tvN drama

And A#R*&%$*!!G#^@ it’s not Liar Game 2. WHY NOT, tvN?! WHY. NOT. I don’t know if it’s good news or bad news that the writer-director team behind Liar Game is doing a new drama. On the one hand, I loved that show so I’m bound to like whatever they put out next. On the other, I only want them to be working on Liar Game 2, Liar Game 3, and Liar Game 4. I mean, do they really have time to be working on a new drama series with so much lying and gaming still needing to be done?
The new show from PD Kim Hong-sun (also of Hero and Yacha) and writer Ryu Yong-jae (also the second writer on Time Between Dog and Wolf) is called Pied Piper, and focuses on a police negotiation task force that specializes in tense, worst-case scenarios that require highly trained communication. They handle all sorts of cases, from suicide to hostage situations to terrorist attacks, and even war. They do their work with words, not weapons, to neutralize volatile situations before they erupt into full-blown catastrophes.
The lead character will be a man in his mid-thirties, a geeeeenius former corporate negotiator who joins the police crisis negotiations team and becomes its leader. There’s also a woman in her late twenties, a lieutenant for the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency who’ll be the second negotiator on the team.
I feel like we’re just going to be bombarded with cops and lawyers in the next drama cycle, but this concept has a nice angle to keep the cases tense and interesting. I do love a good hostage standoff, and I imagine that we’ll be getting a new crisis every week to keep the team on their toes and show off their mad… verbal skills? Okay, so I guess you have to be pretty smooth to save the world with nothing but the power of persuasion. I promise, by the time the show airs, I’ll stop being mad at it for being NOT Liar Game 2.
Pied Piper is slated for the Monday-Tuesday slot following Cheese in the Trap, beginning in March.

I don't want anyone to be sad about liar game season 2.
the writer has update his twitter acc saying that he is working (writing) on 2 drama one ( that you writing about -up- ) + liar game season 2.
last week he update again, thanks the fans for waiting for 1 year + share PDF of liar game EP1 - s1 script
kimsoeun also said ( I found the news in her Korean club today ), that no one talk to her about liar game season 2, but she knew that the writer is working hard to make liar game season 2 happen.
he planing to make it in the middle of the next year. she also said that it maybe difficult to let all the cast meet again , but if they cast again they'll be happy and trying their best to ( organizing their schedule for filming it)
so let's wait a ltl bit longer ... we may hear good news soon ^^"

Ok, I had wanted Lee Sang Yoon, but he needs to be available for Liar Game 2, and honestly, Mr. Oh would be PERFECT in the role. (I know he's older but I don't care.) And it should never be one or the other, he should always be with Geu-rae in some form!! lol

Ahn Young-yi should be the 20-something female negotiator from Seoul Metropolitan Police.
Jang Geu-rae can be the not-elite negotiator starting from scratch, following Mr Oh around and trying to learn from him.
(So basically, Misaeng crew dropped into police work. Heh~)

Coz Lee Sung-min is hooooooooot as hell. I am sooooo attracted to him. This drama, about a very good negotiator, belongs to Lee Sung-min. No matter who his leading lady is... It does not matter, he can pull off sizzling chemistry with anyone! Dang Lee Sung-min. You've been sooooo hot in Miss Korea. Of course as Chief Oh also in Misaeng.

I mean I won't lie that my first thought was LSY but the man deserves a rest after Twenty Again and he's already booked for Liar Game 2 (HE JUST IS OK).

As much as I liked Liar Game, I agree with you, my friend.
[Maybe because I watched the Japanese version first]
[But I am still wanting a Season 2 of more Lee Sang-yoon as Ha Woo-jin]
Korean version wrecked the whole thing re: Kanzaki Nao is meant to be the protagonist from start to finish. What the Korean version did was focus on the rooted rivalry of Kang Do-young and Ha Woo-jin, and lost interest with Nam Da-jung being the driving force in the near-end episodes. That was why I kinda dreaded it to be honest. But it is a notable show for me, just not better than the original. Well something's better than the original... HOTTIE Ha Woo-jin!!!

For some reason, it doesn't show up on Viki when I search through a Roku. Even when I follow it online, it doesn't transfer over. But then I could find it through the app... so weird.

Between the two projects which the writer and producer of Liar Game are working on,
I do understand they will give us this drama as Appetizer,
And of course i want Lee Sang Yoon for my main course, LIAR GAME.
They need to make a proper preparation for Liar Game,..
Lee Sang Yoon did tight diet to perform well in liar game season one,
and for liar game season 2?, i bet he has to diet too... ^_^
Dear writer nim, just make sure that Liar Game will be aired Next year with great plot and actors, neee..? ^_^ Shin Sung Rok, Jo Jae Yun, and Lee El, they definitely have to go back on screen for Liar Game2

My wish for this show:
The lieutenant for the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is a naive young woman with a tendency to put too much trust in other people. Like the police lieutenant she is, when an old woman comes up to her and asks for her help carrying a large briefcase, she immediately accepts. She ends up losing sight of the woman and opens up the briefcase to find... a BUTT load of money. Her immediate thought as a police officer, of course, is to bring it back to the police station for investigation... but she's almost home, anyway, so she might as well bring it back home and then bring it to work the next day. It'll be perfectly safe with her.
However, the next morning she receives a letter inviting her to participate in a game meant purely to deceive others. One might call it a "liar game" of sorts.
Recruiting her coworker, a geeeeenius former corporate negotiator (who also may or may not have a side job as a psychology professor at a university) to help her win the game, these two officers of the law find themselves into a much deeper, darker, twisted situation than they could possibly have anticipated...
Oh, and the roles are played by Kim So Eun and Lee Sang Yoon.

Of course! Logically a lieutenant wouldn't be too naive... but this is a Kdrama and the chances of a police officer actually being competent is probably about 70/30 in favor of incompetence (coughGirlWhoSeesSmellscough).

Been watching House of Bluebird recently and really enjoying it but I miss his days as a badass prosecutor in City Hunter.

Sounds similar to Missing Noir M but I am not complaining. I'd love another Liar Game though. Despite the lack of dimples shown by Lee Sang Yoon in LG, his character just blew me away!
