Bu Bu Jing Xin remake Moon Lovers courts Nam Joo-hyuk

At this rate, every flower boy actor in dramaland will be cast in this drama. Totally not a complaint, by the way, but then you probably already knew that. Moon Lovers, the Korean drama remake of the hit Chinese series Bu Bu Jing Xin, is adding another name to the “considering-favorably” list of cast hopefuls. Nam Joo-hyuk (Who Are You—School 2015) is being courted to join the series, despite the fact that his next drama Cheese in the Trap will be airing from January to March of next year. No rest for the new kid on the block, I see.

The original drama was a time-slip romance that took a contemporary heroine and sent her back to the Qing era, where she was embroiled in a royal love triangle (Square? Hexagon? From the way you guys talk, maybe it’s more like dodecahedron?) with princes. The Korean remake will take a heroine from present-day Seoul and send her back in time to early Goryeo.

Lee Jun-ki (Scholar Who Walks the Night) is being courted to play Gwangjong, Goryeo’s fourth king, and Kang Haneul (Misaeng) is confirmed to play his main rival. Additional princes will be played by Hong Jong-hyun (Mama) and EXO idol Baekhyun, though we haven’t heard much detail about their roles.

It hasn’t been announced what role Nam Joo-hyuk has been offered, though I’m guessing it’s safe to assume he’s probably another prince? I could see him as a flower boy scholar too, of course, in case everyone doesn’t have to be a royal to be on this love train. What I’m more curious about is who they’ll get to play the heroine that ALL of the boys fall in love with.

Directing the remake is PD Kim Kyu-tae of It’s Okay, It’s Love and That Winter, the Wind Blows, and writer Jo Yoon-young of Cinderella Man and Save the Last Dance for Me is penning the script. The drama plans to film in advance of its broadcast, and is set to begin shooting in mid-February.

Moon Lovers doesn’t have a broadcaster yet; it hopes to air in late 2016.

On my option I really appreciate cable stations( tvn,OCN,jtbc) coz they announce after confirmation .also they don't care netizens opinion ...u can't tell to cast PSH without knowing if she fits the role. They always cast unpopular actress and their dramas do well.Kim sa rang is a great actress just watch MYLE .To save this drama is to put a new face or longtime no seen actress like Kim sa rang, han hyo joo..I mean someone who all princess will just fall for her for 1 sight.I don't know what reason they wanted to cast HJE so crazy

Lee jun ki just find other drama.....I have found a reason why nowdays Korean dramas are not good and very plain.First ..poor casting I think they are obsessed with money..second..using the same actor and actress always..if they try to place other actress in moon lovers except HJE ...it will be success. This is not fair why they always give poor female to Lee jun ki....Lee min ho was given Kim hee sun...why now??? as a fan I'm dissapointed

I was confused why so many were upset by some of the casting and calling this a heavy drama. I had watched it and thought it more of a rom-com.

Until I looked it up and realized I had seen The Palace and not Scarlet Heart. I had no idea there were two shows with such similar plots! The genres are completely different though. I now need to go and watch Scarlet Heart so I can see what everyone is raving about.

The Palace was basically a really silly copy/plagiarized version of BBJX with a lot of historical inaccuracies lol. Its producer Yu Zheng is infamous for plagiarizing popular stories and producing it at a faster rate in order to beat the original's release date.

Did the Chinese government "encourage" Korean broadcasting stations to remake one of their tacky mediocre dramas?

Ha. Calling BBJX of all dramas "tacky" and "mediocre" is hilarious. At the very least, you should put in some effort if you want to troll.

I'm a huge fan of BBJX (having downloaded it and watched it multiple times AND NEVER GOT BORED AND STILL CRIED AT THE ENDING EVERY FREAKIN' TIME) and I'm actually looking forward to this remake.

Although I must say, the cast is looking very unpromising, except for Lee Junki & Kang Haneul. They are excellent actors but I feel that they are too young to pull off being princes (if the roles are similar to that of the 4th & 8th princes in BBJX).

Then again, Goryeo is also completely different from the Qing dynasty. So yeah.

Will still be watching it when it comes out and then I'll decide if I am going to continue or skip it after 3 episodes (like I always do with crappy dramas).

On a slightly unrelated matter, if you're planning on watching BBJQ (the sequel to BBJX), DON'T. It was fine during the first 15 episodes but started going absolutely crazy halfway through towards the end. Don't waste your time. It is the most disastrous drama I've ever watched.

Park Min Young for Rouxi please (hopefully she'll be finished with Remember before productions starts, miss her in a sageuk) or maybe even Kim So Eun (she was fantastic in Empress Ki, The Horse's Doctor and SWWTN in where she didn't even get much screentime, she rocks sageuks) but a girl can only dream *sigh*

And wow this is totally flower boy central, I have officially become less excited for this remake smh.

Kim so eun at least deserves a leading role and I don't think she'll be too bad as Rouxi and she's acted beside with both LJK and KHN in where they all displayed fantastic chemistry, she can act and can actually do a job well done in sageuks (Empress Ki, The Horse's Doctor and SWWTN in where her talents we're wasted smh)

But honestly everytime this drama updates with new casts, it just looks less and less promising to me hmm ?
