Eric, Seo Hyun-jin confirm mystery romance Oh Hae-young Again

Both actors were previously reported as considering, so although it’s no surprise that Eric (Discovery of Romance) and Seo Hyun-jin (Let’s Eat 2) have now confirmed taking the new tvN “mystery romance” Oh Hae-young Again, I am happy to hear it. Eric was always the name attached to play leading man, while Seo Hyun-jin was the drama’s third choice (after Kim Ah-joong and Choi Kang-hee), although she’d be my first pick of the three with her knack for endearing, quirky characters.

Oh Hae-young Again features two women who share the same name, went to the same school, and work in the same industry (catering), who then get entangled with the same man. And despite the plot involving two women named Oh Hae-young, only one of them is our main lead, played by Seo Hyun-jin, who in her school days found herself suffering by the comparison to the other, prettier, more popular Oh Hae-young. That constant comparison ended up up inflicting a sort of mental trauma on her, the traces of which we can see underneath her bright, cheerful personality.

She works at a large corporate catering business and has been stuck in the same assistant manager position for ages… while the other Oh Hae-young is a higher-ranked team manager. Talk about bad luck, or maybe just a really annoying joke of Fate.

Eric plays the man who gets entangled in both their lives; his character is the top sound director in the film industry who’s perfect in both his work and his looks, and one day he suddenly gains the ability to see the future. No word yet on who will play the other Oh Hae-young; I’ll be curiously awaiting that news, since the stage isn’t fully set without the rival/counterpart, is it? I can’t decide whether Wang Ji-hye (I’m thinking Personal Taste, Birth of a Beauty) would be the perfect casting, or so obvious a pick as to be unexciting.

Oh Hae-young Again will be a Monday-Tuesday drama on tvN following Pied Piper, to premiere in May.

Are Koreans so easily traumatised? Just kidding ..noticing a traumatised character is a favourite plot in lots of dramas. Love both of them but first let me get over the trauma of CITT.

About CITT, I'm in the process of denial right now. I feel nervous of what ending The PD will bring into the table. And, I guess I may just read the recap.

I had no idea where you were going with it but props for getting in the CITT comment.

I need to get over the trauma from R88 then CITT.

sigghhhhhhh. I hope CITT'S ratings go down dramatically. There should be something that stops them from doing such stuff again.
I finally listened to the latest podcast today and jb and gf squeeing over Cheese felt so sad.

The drama where two girls fighting over one man is pretty rare even though more interesting. The cat fighting is scary but entertaining lol. Another Oh Hye Young supposed to be more beautiful than the female lead. That's how the irritating start I guest.

I was waiting Eric to be paired with idol-actor. I thought he'll have project with Yoon Eun Hye or Yoona SNSD. But this one, is very nice surprise.

It's TvN tho where they can bring unexpected storyline. I just hope the drama will bring such a fresh story. Eric's character just like himself. or maybe the writer got inspiration from his real life story lol.

Love Eric and Seo Hyun Jin. They both really good in quirky characters. I never seen Seo Hyun Jin in melo roles. But I'm sure most of us know that Eric is good in dark intense roles too. Anyway, goodluck for this drama. Waiting for great surprise from both of them as idol-actor. Can we expect them to collaborate for OST too? And I suggest the duo name is 'SM alumnae' XD.

Seo Hyun Jin has done OST for her dramas before. If they can collaborate for an OST for Oh Hae Young Again would be awesome.

Reading the story : yeah, ok, that could lead to funny situations, .....suddenly "gains the ability to see the future" WHAT ?! oh that could be interesting, also if they develop the contradiction between seeing the future and change the present to go to the future seen, will keep an eye on it

May be he gets in a car accident or sound/light equipment falls on his head and it triggers the see to the future ability? I read this comment on the the other DB's post

"Eric’s future seeing ability might not be as random as you think. I think he will see the future of one of the Oh Hae Young and mistakenly assume its the other Oh Hae Young’s future or something. Anyway, it might be a vital part of the story… that just what i think."

It would make an interesting set up if he gets the 2 Oh Hae Young mixed up in his precognition.

I love Eric Mun, I'm glad he's confirmed. I haven't seen Wang Ji Hye since Birth of a Beauty, and while she's good at playing the other woman, I want to see her in something different.

I always hated Wang Ji Hye for his bitch roles, but afters seeing her in RM and being Kwang Soo best friend, i change the mind about her. She's really cool

I first watched her in Bachelor's Vegetable Store, opposite JCW and yeah that was the drama that introduced her to LKS. Thanks to that I have pretty good opinion of her although she almost always had bitch roles. Anyway in Protect The Boss she's not exactly annoying and instead cute with Jaejoong.

Wang Ji-hye's pretty neat, if a bit limited, as the heroine of "Cheer Up, Mr. Kim!"

I don't really want Wang Ji Hye for this role. Honestly, she plays bitchy roles too frequently so I would really like to see her in something fun and endearing so she can try her hand at other types of characters. May be a fun and light 50 ep weekender would break the type-casting I feel she is stuck in.

I think I prefer Yoo In Young from the two because I think she adds some warmth to her mean girls but I would be open to someone new or...not obvious, lol.

Oop, ctually. Maybe I would pick Wang Ji Hye. I just googled her and realized I was thinking about Wang Ji Won! All my mean girls are meshing together! LOL

If it's Yoo In Young, she'll most likely die because of the guy. Just like in Empress Ki, You who came from the Stars and Mask. Lol.

Ahem, I think you have spoiled three endings in a row... Not that I mind, I have seen all three, but comments sections sometimes are a minefield... :-)

Apart from that, precisely because she always plays this kind of role, I think I'd rather it be someone else. I feel a little sorry for both Yoo In Young and Wang Ji Won; they seem stuck in bitch/jilted girlfriend roles. I can't wait to see them get the guy...

I find it cute and funny that the writer of this drama is named Park Hae Young. I didn't see any other works by them so they may be a new writer? That seems exciting. I'm going to trust in them because I feel like Eric rarely comes out for anything so there must be something there. Oh, its his first cable drama right? Haha, slay.

I've never seen this leading lady in anything before so I might do that before this airs. Also the PD for this did Marriage Not Dating, I'm sure he'll bring out the comedy and the chemistry of the cast. :)

If Wang Ji Hye can make this second lead role as endearing, likeable, sweet, and cheerful--and unlike EVERY. OTHER. SECOND FEMALE LEAD WHO ONLY SERVES AS A DEVICE TO HELP MOVE ALONG THE LOVELINE OF THE MAIN COUPLE-- just like she did with her second female lead character in "Protect the Boss", then I'm all for her :)

Usually people easy to have second lead syndrome for the second male lead. This drama seems involve love triangle between one man and two girls. I hope for once we can see second lead syndrome of second female lead, where she's sweet and caring and the opposite, the main female lead is a bit bicthy XD.
