One More Happy Ending: Episode 7

Nothing goes well when feelings get messy, and it’s time for everyone to get real with themselves, and decide what they want. Everyone is confused and upset, and it’s impossible for anyone to have a healthy relationship in that kind of atmosphere. But denial and confusion are running rampant, so it’s anyone’s guess as to who will be the first to stand up and declare their intentions.

EPISODE 7 RECAP

Soo-hyuk, Hae-joon, and a pretty girl go out drinking with their college dance team. Hae-joon surreptitiously fills the girl’s shot glass with water when nobody is looking, but she barely notices — she only has eyes for Soo-hyuk. Over time, her relationship with Soo-hyuk grows, and Hae-joon is left to watch them sadly.

This is Min-woo’s mother, Seon-soo, and sure enough, she soon has news for Soo-hyuk. They’re expecting a baby. She’s angry with him for not being more careful, and begs him to tell her that he’ll take care of her and to trust him, but he’s downright terrified and can’t say the words. They decide to have the baby, and for Soo-hyuk, it’s love at first sight when he sees his tiny son.

Hae-joon, now a medical student, visits Seon-soo in the hospital and finds her on the floor writhing in pain. The doctors work hard to save her life, but there’s little they can do.

Soo-hyuk drops to his knees in shock to hear that Seon-soo is dead. All he can think of is that he never could assure her that he would take care of her, that he never was the man she could put her trust in. He starts to panic and screams Seon-soo’s name, and Hae-joon holds him while he cries.

Later Seon-soo’s brother nearly beats Soo-hyuk to a pulp, screaming that her death is all his fault. Soo-hyuk does nothing to defend himself, only repeating that he’s sorry.

Soo-hyuk is left to raise a newborn baby alone, but he can hardly even take care of himself. Hae-joon begs him to wake up for his son’s sake, or his baby could die. That seems to get through to Soo-hyuk, and he admits that he doesn’t think he’s strong enough to live with this guilt.

Hae-joon says that it will get better over time, and it’s obvious that he’s speaking from experience — he’s grieving for Seon-soo just the same as Soo-hyuk. He tells Soo-hyuk to go to the States to be with his family, and to come back when he’s feeling stronger.

In the present, it’s happening all over again — the two best friends are falling for the same woman. Soo-hyuk does the honorable thing and tells Hae-joon that he’s sorry, but he can’t hide his feelings any longer. He likes Han Mi-mo, and if that makes him the bad guy, then he’ll accept that.

Hae-joon says that he’s not just getting involved, he’s jumping between him and Mi-mo with a bomb. It won’t end with him just being the bad guy, but Hae-joon and Mi-mo will be hurt, too. If Soo-hyuk cares about Mi-mo, then he’ll keep his feelings to himself and suffer alone, and let her be happy with the person she likes.

Hearing this looks like it physically hurts Soo-hyuk, but Hae-joon doesn’t back down. Soo-hyuk is left standing alone, and when his phone rings with a call from Mi-mo, he doesn’t answer. Hae-joon makes it back to his office before he finally starts to shake, and he takes out his phone to make a call, but instead smashes it on the floor.

Soo-hyuk is considering returning Mi-mo’s call, but Yeon-soo speaks up from behind him and asks if he wants to go get some coffee. Oh right, I guess they would know each other. She apologizes for eavesdropping on their conversation, but Soo-hyuk is a little dazed. He thinks he may have gone a bit nuts — he just suddenly was standing in front of Hae-joon, saying those things.

Yeon-soo can see that he’s feeling something very strong to have come and said those things, acknowledging his one-sided love. She says that Hae-joon could never get into a complicated situation over a woman, and that he’s also never had his heart broken. But Yeon-soo encourages Soo-hyuk to follow his heart, because you never know… his feelings could be the ones that mean something to Mi-mo.

Mi-mo is also thinking about the events of the previous night, when Soo-hyuk had made his feelings known. She asks Da-jung if she thinks Mi-mo could have maternal instincts, and muses that this could be what fulfills her hope of the last five years.

Thinking of Soo-hyuk, she thinks that he must have wanted so badly to be comforted, so he fell for the first person who comforted him. No, don’t talk yourself out of it! Mi-mo texts Soo-hyuk asking him to come to her office, because she needs to talk with him.

Ah-ni volunteers to go on an out-of-the-country stakeout, passive-aggressively stating that someone needs her out of his life for a while. Ugh. She admits to Soo-hyuk later that she had planned to blow open the Seul-ah story, but she lost her nerve. She asks if the woman he likes accepted his feelings when he confessed, but he doesn’t answer, just thanking her for not publishing her story.

Ae-ran arrives home from her solo honeymoon to find Dong-bae waiting for her like nothing ever happened. He still wants to live together and have an open marriage, but Ae-ran is having none of it. Does he actually think that insulting her looks will make her agree? Has he seen her??

She ends up back at Dong-mi’s looking for a place to stay, but Dong-mi tells her to go to Mi-mo’s — she’ll be happy to have someone around. Ae-ran claims to be scared of Ppoppo, because he’s so wrinkly and she’s scared of things with wrinkles, so Dong-mi threatens to get an even wrinklier dog, ha.

She goes on a date with Oven Guy (whose name is actually Wook, oops), who’s all sweetness and light while with her, but his face goes flat the moment he turns away, hmm. His phone goes off several times so Dong-mi answers it, to find herself talking to his wife. I knew it. Wook comes back to the table and panics when he hears her talking on his phone, and struggles to explain.

Ae-ran smells something fishy about this guy, telling Dong-mi that he seems like a scammer. Dong-mi defends him hotly, since Wook told her that the call was from an EX-wife about his kids. He’d sold her a sob story about her demanding child support that he can’t afford, and she’d fallen for it.

Soo-hyuk waits for Mi-mo at her office, and he overhears a female client on the phone saying that she doesn’t want to marry a man with kids. Her words land hard, and he leaves before seeing Mi-mo. It’s Hae-joon who’s waiting when Mi-mo gets off work, but her smile seems a little forced.

During dinner he teases her about his supposed loan some more, and he finally admits that he’s just pulling her leg, and it will be paid off in two months. Her reaction (or lack thereof) disappoints him, and he tries to draw her out by asking about the volunteering, but Mi-mo doesn’t feel much like talking.

Da-jung’s husband Geun-hak packs a suitcase, and he runs across an old CD of the Angels’ album. He remembers those days, when he’d been involved in the promotion of Angels, and had taken particular notice of Da-jung. He’d asked her to autograph his CD, and gotten her attention by only asking for her autograph and none of the other members.

When Da-jung comes home from work Geun-hak reminds her of his business trip, and she invites him to talk. She agrees to the divorce and only asks for the apartment, asking him to move out when he gets home from his trip. Oof, they both look so sad, it’s heartbreaking.

Hyun-gi monitors Soo-hyuk’s drinking at a pojangmacha that night, and Soo-hyuk slurs that he wanted to be honest about his feelings, but nobody wants to know about them. Hyun-gi asks what he likes about this woman, and Soo-hyuk laughs that he doesn’t even know.

Poor Soo-hyuk, it’s eating him up so badly that he couldn’t just be honest from the beginning with Hae-joon. Hyun-gi says that Soo-hyuk just waited too long to start dating again, and forgot how. He urges Soo-hyuk to find his courage, but Soo-hyuk says he’ll just look like a jerk if he does.

He remembers Seon-soo’s brother berating him for her death, telling him not to even try dating again or he’ll kill that girl, too. Damn, he’s been carrying a lot of guilt around for thirteen years, it explains a lot.

After dinner Mi-mo asks Hae-joon about Soo-hyuk, and what he was like in school. She says that she might have been wrong about him being immature, and she feels bad thinking how lonely he must have been.

She asks what kind of woman Soo-hyuk likes, saying that at least she should match him with a woman who will love Min-woo. Every word seems to stab Hae-joon right in the heart, and he finally stops her and kisses her right in the street. It’s a tiny little peck, but he says that he only wants her to talk and think about him from now on.

He hugs her and says that he sulks easily, and that he’ll get sulky if she keeps talking about Soo-hyuk. Mi-mo returns the hug, but she looks unsettled.

When Mi-mo gets home, she decides to return Min-woo’s bank book, but nobody’s home at Soo-hyuk’s place. He’s outside, drunk and still beating himself up internally, and he opens his eyes to find Mi-mo blinking down at him.

Just looking at him reminds her of the emotionally charged moment the night before when he’d asked her not to touch him, and she starts to say something about it. Soo-hyuk goes overboard trying to pretend it was no big deal, which just makes it that much more obvious that it was a very big deal. He notices Mi-mo’s expression and swears it wasn’t his intent to make her heart flutter, which she hotly denies.

She gives him Min-woo’s bank book and tells him that his son visited her. But she says not to just find anyone for the sake of not being lonely — he should wait for someone wonderful. She offers to help him, and tells him that after her failed marriage, she realized that your own happiness is the most important thing in life. If you’re happy, then those around you will be too, and she says that Min-woo really wants him to be happy.

Yeon-soo runs into Hae-joon drinking alone and joins him, expressing surprise to see him actually upset over a woman. She asks exactly what worries him: that he’ll lose Mi-mo to another man, or that the other man is Soo-hyuk? Hae-joon admits that it’s both.

We flash back to Seon-soo’s collapse from a rare childbirth complication, and he’d been the first to hear the news that she couldn’t be saved. Soo-hyuk had been attacked by Seon-soo’s brother, both physically and verbally, and he’d only been able to apologize tearfully over and over, on his knees.

Hae-joon growls to Yeon-soo, “Why did he have to do it again?” She doesn’t know what he means by “again,” but she remembers that when she divorced him, he didn’t even try to stop her. She wonders what Hae-joon would do if, instead of Soo-hyuk taking her, Mi-mo actually chose him — would Hae-joon try to stop her?

Soo-hyuk tenderly tucks in a sleeping Min-woo and kisses his forehead, then pulls out the bank book. He remembers giving it to his son, and how he’d told him to use the money for something he really wanted. He’d started with 100,000 won (about $100), but the account has grown tenfold since then. Remembering Mi-mo’s words that Min-woo wants most for his father to be happy, Soo-hyuk cries.

In the morning, Soo-hyuk demands a big old dorky hug from his son before school, but even his formidable aegyo isn’t enough to convince Min-woo to hug him. Min-woo goes out the door, but Soo-hyuk just waits with arms outstretched… and Min-woo runs back in for his hug. These two are killing me.

Mi-mo is so fixated about Soo-hyuk saying he wants to take her hands, that she’s starting to imagine him grabbing her hand even when she’s working. He comes to see her for real and asks if it’s possible to find someone that will love him and his son, and she puts him to work filling out forms.

He balks at all the paperwork, but she reminds him that they didn’t see each other for twenty years. She asks if he’ll take responsibility if she matches him wrong, and the phrase “take responsibility” (which also can be used to imply marrying someone) makes them both freeze for a moment.

He silently starts filling out the form, and as Mi-mo watches him, her face changes. Again she thinks of him tenderly taking care of her that night, and breaks the mood by fussing at him when he writes his ideal type down as “someone with faults.”

He adds the word “lovely” and she says that he and Hae-joon are just alike, neither of them ever giving a straight answer. She instructs him to be specific, but it backfires on her when Soo-hyuk readily complies, describing her exactly.

Dong-mi runs into an old boyfriend while waiting for her date, and the guy is a real jerk. He tells her she hasn’t changed, his tone making it an obvious insult, and tells her to at least get some work done or something. Wook shows up and throws an arm around her, and Dong-mi takes great delight in introducing him as her boyfriend.

Dong-mi is now giving Wook money for his supposed child support, and he makes a big show of it hurting his manly pride, but takes the money anyway. And then he sings a song to her, which is really bizarre.

Ae-ran takes some of her clothing line to her old agency to try to sell them, and runs into an old frenemy from their idol days. Their relationship is still pretty toxic, only now her rival has the upper hand, still being a celebrity herself.

Ae-ran’s sales are dropping and she jumps through increasingly desperate hoops to try to sell them, but nobody’s interested. She’s finally let in when she visits an aging fanboy, who has an alarming number of Angels posters in his apartment. He has all of the old Angels memorabilia, and is even wearing an Ae-ran t-shirt. But Ae-ran is so glad to find someone who still likes her, she bursts into tears and hugs him. Oh dear.

Mi-mo brings Soo-hyuk the portfolio of a woman who meets his specifications, but he just pouts at her and rejects the woman without even reading it. She complains that it’s difficult to find a woman like he wants, but he’s completely uninterested.

Dong-mi takes the “designer” scarf that Wook gave her into the store, as it’s growing a lot of fuzz, and the sales clerk informs her that it’s a knockoff. She tells her friends, who all say there’s something weird about the guy, especially since the child support he claims to have been ordered to pay is pretty high. Dong-mi gets defensive and they back off.

Mi-mo grudgingly tells them that she and Hae-joon finally kissed, but the best she can say is that it was “fine.” Ouch. She admits that something felt missing, but she can’t quite put her finger on what.

Ae-ran shows them the photo cards from their bread promotion that her superfan gave her, and they all joke about burning Seul-ah’s. All but Da-jung, who looks at her old picture and starts to cry, and they rush to console her.

Mi-mo has lunch with Hae-joon, but she’s preoccupied with Soo-hyuk’s blind date today. Hae-joon is sick of hearing her talk about it, but she doesn’t take his hint and just keeps going on about it. He finally slams down his utensils and says they should go, as she’s obviously not interested in eating.

He calls her inconsiderate, and says it feels like Soo-hyuk comes on all their dates because she can’t stop talking about him. She tries to convince him that she’s just letting him know how his friend is doing, but he says that he’s already asked her not to do it anymore and she still continues.

Mi-mo realizes that this is why he kissed her — to stop her talking about Soo-hyuk. He admits it was, and she’s upset that their first kiss was a “shut up” kiss. She says it was disrespectful, and Hae-joon raises his voice, but says they should go before they get in a fight. Mi-mo corrects him… they are in a fight.

Dong-mi gets a bucket of swamp water poured over her head at work, from a woman I can only assume is Wook’s wife. Wow, she’s terrifying.

Yeon-soo runs into Hae-joon on his way back to work, and asks him to check if there’s something in her eye. Mi-mo’s decided to go to him and work things out, and she sees him right up close to Yeon-soo’s face. Taking advantage of the moment, Yeon-soo asks if she was as distant as Hae-joon when they were married, as he claims. She says bluntly that she wants him back, and Mi-mo witnesses the whole thing.

She thinks to herself that she forgot that there was someone beside him, someone who could be a threat.

COMMENTS

Well, I wasn’t expecting that, but now that I think about it, it’s not really a surprise that Yeon-soo wants to try again with Hae-joon. She’s been giving him longing looks for a while now, and her “helpfully” telling Mi-mo that he’ll never care for her as much as she cares for him can’t have been anything but a calculated move to undermine Mi-mo’s confidence (not to mention how she encouraged Soo-hyuk to go after her). I’m not sure what this will mean, when our love triangle transforms into a square, but I’m interested to see what happens next.

I’m glad to finally see some emotion from Hae-joon, because I was starting to think that he literally wasn’t capable of feeling strong emotions. This is probably up for interpretation, but I felt that when he destroyed his phone instead of making a call right after his fight with Soo-hyuk, he was fighting himself not to call Soo-hyuk and take back what he’d just said. But I don’t really blame him for being angry — after all, he did once step aside and let the woman he loved go with someone else, and his best friend at that. That’s got to be one of the hardest things for a person to do, and I’m positive there’s a large dose of “It’s my turn this time” in Hae-joon’s attitude now. And to make things worse, Seon-soo didn’t even get to live a happy life with the man she loved, as was Hae-joon’s intention. Instead it got her pregnant at a young age, she never got to marry the father, and she died of complications from childbirth. It’s no wonder that Hae-joon hates messy love triangles, and no wonder that Soo-hyuk’s threat to create another one now infuriates him.

It’s interesting how Soo-hyuk went barging in there to declare his intent to go after Mi-mo, but was convinced to step down so quickly and easily. Seeing the details of Soo-hyuk’s past, and the death of his first love, makes it a lot easier to understand why he’s so timid about relationships even now. Aside from Seon-soo’s brother saying that he’ll just kill anyone he loves, which would screw with your mind in a major way all by itself, his one experience with love was a bad experience from start to finish. There’s still more to learn about what happened between Soo-hyuk and Seon-soo when they found out about the baby, but it’s pretty clear that she wanted him to take responsibility (marry her) and take care of her, and he didn’t have the confidence to do it. Because of his self-doubt, he couldn’t reassure the woman he loved that everything would be okay. It’s not his fault she died, not by a long shot, but I can see how someone as sensitive as Soo-hyuk could convince himself that if only he’d done things differently, she might not have died.

It explains why Soo-hyuk breaks down every time he realizes that someone cares for him, because he’s spent so much of the past thirteen years keeping people at arm’s length. But it hurts him, being such an emotional man who feels obligated to impose so much loneliness on himself. It’s especially sad when he says to Hyun-gi that he wants to tell people how he feels, but nobody is interested… that just broke my heart. So when someone that means something to him, like Mi-mo or his son Min-woo, lets him know how much they care about him, it’s almost too much for him to handle. But I love how in touch with his emotions Soo-hyuk is, and that he lets himself cry and doesn’t try to deny when something affects him deeply.

But I hope that Soo-hyuk’s decision to just step back and take the easy way out doesn’t last long, because it’s time for him to stop feeling sorry for himself, and start fighting for something. And nothing is more important than the person you love. At the very least, Mi-mo is feeling something pretty strong for Soo-hyuk as well, and she needs to know how he feels. Because regardless of the men’s opinions about who “deserves” her the most, in the end, it’s ladies’ choice.

I loved Episode 6 because of the confession, and conversely, I hated this episode. The only people opening their mouths are the ones who should shut up (I'm looking at you, Haejoon). I hope Episode 8 is a lot better.

My thoughts exactly!I keep trying to like this dude but i just can't!However, in the end of the episode i got more mad at Mi Mo.She doesn't seem to know what she wants. And she was so awesome in episode 6,after the mess she's been in the first episodes. One minute she is like ''something's missing'' and the next she gets jealous. There is absolutely no good reason why she would be so in love with Hae-Joon.Frankly, it was making her look a little silly and i liked how they started to tone it down a little and then that ending!I adore Soo Hyuk's character and actions though and i also love Da-Jung's story-line.I am really interested in how things will go with her husband!

Mi-mo may be a goldfish but she's starting to lose her scales and show skin. That's rather nice, seeing her develop a strong sense of respect and even sexual carefulness around Soo-hyuk.

This drama follows all other traditional dramas in that it emphasizes something "special" between the two main leads and over-romanticizes their relationship, which doesn't make it fresh but does score points on the comedy and swoony-romantic scale.

Honestly, I'm ok with Mi-mo-'s "indecisiveness" right now because she can't be made as a fickle woman, especially since she likes to date. We can see that shes absolutely loyal whenever she's dating or not dating someone, and that's one of her strongest points, so I don't fault her for not noticing consciously that Hae-Joon's not for her.

I agree. MM's indecisiveness right now... Actually stems from wanting her and HJ to actually work out even though she is slowing beginning to realize the type of man SH is... It's loyalty... MM is trying to be loyal to HJ despite their obvious incompatibility...

She should be applauded for not wanting to say die till the bones are rotten... Even though her behavior in these eps.. Pretty much annoyed me.

I think the reason why she is so entranced with Hae Joon is because in the 1st episode, when she was super excited about getting proposed to by Mr. Celebrity Chef, she tells her friends over lunch that she even had a dream and in the dream, we see that a guy was reaching his hands out to cup her face.. And we see the same thing happening when she goes to the ER and Hae Joon reaches out to put a headgear kinda thing.. It happened exactly as she had seen inn her dream and so I think that she thinks that they are destined..

So, while her confession at the beginning was obviously attraction and that dream, at this point I think she is just trying to convince herself that they are destined to be together, even though there's a lot less attraction than there was in the beginning.

Ugh. Hae Joon is a self entitled man child and he aggravates me to tears. I really dislike him. Really. Soo Hyuk's backstory was somehow sadder than I already thought it'd be. So has Hae Joon been letting Soo Hyuk believe he somehow killed his wife from the inevitable embolism? He's not a great friend, is he?

I know knetizen's are apparently upset that Soo Hyuk would move in on Hae Joon's girl but honestly the emotional depth of Mi Mo/Hae Joon together wouldn't keep a goldfish alive. I'm a fan of promiscuous goldfish/animal onesie fetish! Which makes it lucky for me that they're the main leads.

In other storylines:
Really feeling sorry for the couple breaking up/cancer storyline. I just want them both to have an honest and frank conversation. The anger/sadness/disappointment and repressed yearning is just so hard to watch.

I'm hating the philandering/now verbally abusive new husband storyline. Ugh he makes me mad.

But not as mad as the conman/school teacher storyline. At least the philandering husband storyline makes me angry at the husband. The conman storyline makes me angry at the woman. It's so obvious that he's a user that her willful blindness just frustrates me.

I agree completely. Specially about Hae Joon, honestly I hate him for making Soo Hyuk feels even more guilt. Its not like Mi Mo is an object that he bought and now is forever his, she is a person! she has problems, and feelings and he simply chooses to ignore everything about her other than the fact of her pretty face. The fact that he just treats her like property makes me wanna punch him in the face.

Those K-netizens are also infurianting me for doing with a strong character like Mi Mo Exactly what hae joon does: seeing her as his property. So what? just because they are in a relationship now it doesn't mean they are married, its not like she can't be with anyone else ever again, they are not even considering HER opinion in the matter.

I'm sorry but did I miss something? When did Hae Joon think of Han Mi Mo as his property?

I think Hae Joon has made a very good point when he was talking to Soo Hyuk. Soo Hyuk shouldn't forcefully try to interfere with their relationship because everyone would get hurt that way. That would not be very considerate to either Hae Joon's or Han Mi Mo's feelings. Try to step into Hae Joon's shoes, how would you feel if your friend tried to forcefully take your significant other away from you?

That being said, I don't agree with Hae Joon when he said to watch from afar and have one-sided feelings with Han Mi Mo. Soo Hyuk should confess his feelings and let her decide what she wants to do because ultimately it is her decision, and not the other boys' or the viewer's decision.

I'm still wonder if Hae Joon truly likes Han Mi Mo...their relationship is so bland and hardly seems like a relationship that just began, it seems that they only fight and that neither party is happy. My question is why haven't they thought of braking up, especially Hae Joon who views himself as a logical man, this should have been his first option. After all, i dont think this relationship is longer than 2 or 3 months, not much has been invested. But, I think because of what happened previously with Soon Soo, Hae Joon thinks it is his turn and won't let his friend take her. Again, I don't think Hae joon likes Mi Mo, at least not as deeply as Soo Hyuk.
To be honest, I just want more scenes with Minwoo, Soo Hyuk and Mi mo, they are such a great trio! I really hope that by next week, she realizes her feelings and we stop wasting time with this useless triangle, I think it's pretty clear that who has won the lady's heart is Soo Hyuk, now if only she would stop hiding her feelings.

HJ totally thinks MM is his property. He said as much to Ah Ni in ep.5... When he went like SH cant have MM...she's 'mine'... It was right there...

Or in that episode in which he takes out soo hyuks coat from her in a very VERY rude way and gives his own, but didn't even pay the time to realise why she needed the coat in the first place. It was just a ridiculous show of "she's mine, take your hands out"

the conman/teacher storyline is super frustrating, because she's SO BLIND to what's happening, but at the same time i feel like its realistic for a person to be so blinded by one thing (in this case, appearance) that they ignore all the red flags that come up. i can't tell you how many friends i have that have dated awful guys who were mean, manipulative, cheaters, etc but because they had low self esteem or were ~in love~ or were just happy to have a boyfriend, they miss all the warning signs and make excuses to explain away odd behavior :/ and just like the teacher, when friends bring up details that don't add up, they got angry and defensive..

You are right.
I think her loneliness also has a lot to do with it. Loneliness can prompt people to do strange things, anything to feel not loved.
Plus desperation, you know, she is 34, the clock is ticking, must find a man soon, blah blah blah, that many women buy into, unfortunately.

This is probably the only drama that makes me want the heroine (on the school teacher storyline) to finally get a wake up call. It's funny, instead of feeling infuriated by the conman, I just want to see the teacher to see the truth though that means she'll have her heart broken. I can't stand the way her character is written. Also, how come she doesn't get disciplined as a teacher? She keeps on texting with her "lover" during her time of teaching, and then when her students try to engage her back to the class, she yells at them. Sheeeshhh...!

Best episode yet.

Nary has there been a character like Soo Hyuk. He is really pouring his heart out into this drama.

I feel like this drama is back on track after a few wayward episodes that drifted from character to character...

Wonderful episode!

Thank you for a great recap LP!

Really, Hae Joon and Ani are two people that I'm tired of seeing on my screen. I absolutely HATE the way he treats her, as if she was some kind of property, and he is very proud of having her but doesn't bother to KNOW her. Sure he had a terrible experience once, but it was HIS choice to just step aside and do nothing, why would Soo Hyuk be the one to blame when he didn't know?

Also, I'm having SO MUCH feelings about Da Jung and her husband! its soo obvious that he still loves her, but there's just so many thing between them...it breaks my heart how both of them seemed so sad over those papers. I'm hoping with all my heart that they can find a way to solve their problems and be a family again. They both deserve to be happy.

I like Hae Joon's ex, because although she has her reasons, she was the only one who cared to say that the choice should be Mi Mo's and not between the boys (or Hae Joon, actually), that in the end what would really matter wouldn't be who liked her, but who's feelings ment more.

This episode was really serious compared to the others but I guess it can't all be fun and games. I dunno what it is but I don't like Haejoon that much, he just feels so ..... forced. Like he doesn't actually like MiMo because his actions seem like he has an unconscious grudge against SooHyuk and he's trying to one up him with MiMo? I really love the character of Han MiMo, a caring girl with faults that she knows about and is blunt in the way that's muchly appreciated in kdrama-land

Also, is it just me or does DongMi piss anyone else off? She just seems like a bitter and bad friend. I understand that's her personality but she's always picking on her friends and feeling entitled(?) and just not being very supportive. I'm also really interested in DaJung's storyline, like something about it is captivating. I want to know how it goes not just for 5 minutes of an hour episode!

Dear Ms. Rach, Dong Mi is not a hateful character, just an embittered one. Dong Mi, and to be honest, we human beings, are only capable to react in just a handful of ways to a certain circumstances, and we are not capable to understand all the situations. She just reacts taking into account what she knows and has lived.

She had a caged life.

If you see closely, you will note that from all the Angel's bunch of friends, she is the one that lost her freedom first (her own choice) and the only one who doesn't really need to work to have money. My guess is that her easily surrendering her freedom and her choices just to marry into a wealthy family (doesn't sound all the giving in to the pressure from the husband's family to have a baby kind of alarming?). My view is about a jaded, passive-agressive lady that married a good man for the wrong reasons and paid a pretty steep price for looking financial security with the capability to make her own choices.

On the other hand, I kind of enjoy the friendship among the Angels... it is NOT perfect (in fact it is pretty flawed) and it is pretty biased (they all seem to have certain blind spots if you just observe carefully), but they care about each other. Sometimes they fight but with all the best intentions at heart.

The ex wife doesn't strike me as calculating. I don't think she deliberately tried to sabotage Mi mo and Hae joon's relationship. I think she just knows him. I've not been in any danger of getting second lead syndrome from him. He creeps me out. I'm just dumbfounded by the side dramas with her buddies. They've all three so ridiculous and makjang it's almost campy but not quite campy enough. Nor are any of the three other girls likable characters at all. The only good thing about the show is the main characters. Her girlfriends are all either crazy, nasty or a little of both.

I can't understand why netizens would be angry at Soo Hyuk for saying he'll go after MiMo in the opening scene... isn't that what we ask the leads to do instead of being noble idiots?? We DON'T want them to be stupid for friendship's sake and let the girl choose! Also, I wouldn't say he came between them purposely.. Even he didn't realize he loved her. [I adore Soo Hyuk! When he cries, it's heartbreaking...]

I'm also looking forward to the cancer storyline (never thought I would say that). I want to see them work through their issues because they love each other..

from what i can tell (and someone, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong) k-netizens have preferred hae-joon to soo-hyuk from the beginning, so it would make sense that people rooting for hae-joon/mi-mo pairing would be upset when soo-hyuk threatens it by saying he'll go after her.

although tbh i SERIOUSLY dont understand how anyone can prefer hae-joon's character to soo-hyuk's.

If kdrama's have taught me anything it's that South Koreans view single parent families as pitiable /s

I don't understand his allure, he treats her coldly, even his like of her seems to be about her old image mixed with competition with Soo Hyuk because of Min Woo's mother. The fact that his face appears to be frozen seems slightly.. Creepy? I feel like he's going to turn into a villain at any moment. It's weird he's definitely not a bad person but I really feel he doesn't actually like MiMo

That actor had the exact same character in Let's Eat 2: perfect and handsome, the ideal man. I didn't see it there and I don't see it here. Granted, in both shows he's supposed to be flawed and isn't meant to get the girl. But he should at least start out being likable. His reactions--the creepy, frozen face that you mention--go too quickly to cold and icy, when there should be a moment of disappointment and sadness. This is where I think this actor fails.

I 100% prefer Soo Hyuk's character here. But I can totally see why. I think as drama viewers we are so conditioned by noble idiocy as a drama trope to introduce angst that we are always rooting for the guy to just quit it and go get the girl already. But in this instance, it's a pretty messy love triangle.

I don't think Soo Hyuk is being stupid by not rushing in and delaring his love for Mi Mo. I think that he's being respectful to his friend and Mi Mo's relationship. I don't 100% agree with what Hae Joon said but I did agree that loving someone doesn't mean you need to possess and be the person beside them as long as you know they are happy.

I actually feell like Hae Joon's character is quite poorly written as he's the only one who I don't feel has that strong a back story compared to even some of the side characters. All we know about him is that he had an ex-wife and that he used to have a one-sided love for Soo Hyuk's girlfriend. I don't know, I feel like that's why I haven't warmed up to him as much. But I do understand his perspective because he confronted Soo Hyuk before he started dating Mi Mo. I mean, in real life it's already unwise to date a best friend's ex let alone try to snatch her away.

The one thing I'm confused about is everyone saying Hae Joon hid the real cause of the girlfriend's death... I thought the brother raged at Soo Hyuk mentioning that how could she die of a disease that affects only one in a million people - which kind of indicates that it's known by all?

I am rooting hard for Dajung and her husband to solve their issues because it's too sad for them to just get a divorce when they still love each other that much. Strangely, I want Aeran to have a somewhat friendly relationship with her husband. I find their personality match each other quite well and I can see them as a constantly bickering friend. I think they can at least ensure each other stability since they are already married and all that. And Dongmi~ya, honey, that guy is already married and just angling for your money. Back out fast before he hurts you more.

That opening gave us some much needed insight into Hae-joon and some more into Soo-hyuk, but honestly all it did was make me like Hae-joon even less and want Soo-hyuk to be happy.

I like how this drama approaches the ex husbands and wife normally dramas would have them be cheaters and or insane but they all appear to be normal people here. Although I have to admit that ending does worry me a bit about where they are taking Yeon-soo, who to this point even with hindsight into her motives I don't think she's done anything overly wrong.

As for Da-jung and her I guess now ex-husband I kind of don't want them to reconcile and get back together. Dramas are so often spreading the false message that love conquers all when the reality is that love isn't enough it would be nice to see a story that acknowledges that. Sure they both appear to have lingering feelings but in might be too late and ultimately it's possible they'll both be happier in the long run apart than together.

If love is equated with the emotions and feelings, then I agree ... the feelings are not what conquers all. When I take a deeper view of love, it includes decision and commitment irregardless of feelings. A perfect love puts the other first, is humble, generous, forgiving, kind, compassionate.... we are just imperfect human beings working towards a more and more authentic love and making mistakes along the way. The fact that we do love is not shown in that it conquers all, but that we continue despite all that threatens to conquer it.

As a viewer, I'm not happy that Soo Hyuk back pedals cos he believes in HJ. "Shut up and let Mimo finish what she has to say, then you'll get to know how your hand holding and soulful stare is affecting her!"
As a Jung Kyung Ho supporter, I'm glad the writer benches him for a couple eps., for HJ to mess up dating w Mimo, and for her to realise how she feels, then knetizens won't hate on JKH cos his char is "stealing his BF's girl"!!! LOL.

I think HJ is deeply hurt. A huge jealousy and doubts are clouding his sight towards women who are liking him, he knows it, but can't fight it back. He doesn't blame SH for SS death, like some of you are suggesting, he knows that it was a very rare case. One of his platonic loves is turning to be a real one, but he doesn't know how to deal with it. We see it from his reactions and frustration and like MM he would like to find out why his marriage failed, when now he listen to his ex and he is eager to know.

Well looking at it from an outsider's perspective it's easy to say that he should confess and let the girl decide what she wants; however, in this case it's not that easy for several reasons.

First of all the girl has made her decission already and he knows about that. This point alone would make a lot of people back out. Secondly she is his friend's girlfriend so going after her won't be an easy decission to make. Third she is also a friend of his and combining that with the other two points, it makes it even worse. Beside all of that, he also has a kid, which isn't bad considering she got along with the kid, but that is bagage.

This situation isn't about him showing what he feels about her, but rather her showing him, that there exist a possibility of them being together since she is aready in a relationship. At the moment he has too much to lose to show his feelings.

So I'm going to have to agree that he shouldn't have made a move on his best friend's girlfriend although I seem to be departing from the majority here. You just don't do that sort of thing especially when bff has already asked you about your feelings prior to dating the girl. They're supposed to be the OTP and I'm rooting for them but I just feel like that's so wrong. If they weren't dating, I'd agree that it's okay for him to make his move/confess.

I'm glad that the bizarre behavior from cheating husband/bf (Wook?) has been noted. WTH?! When they started dating, I thought those were imaginary/dream sequences until I realized they weren't!

On another note, I've appreciated the different relationship messages from the episodes. There has been meaningful advice provided here and there as well (don't or at least try not to ask why they broke up else that be a dark shadow over your own relationship).

Any else wonder what keeps happening to the kids? They just disappear and appear when needed. I'm always thinking, why is your son sleeping alone so late? Where's the sitter? Who's taking him home? HAHAHA

They were not kidding when they said they'd experience technical difficulties at DB, were they?

Poor Soo Hyuk! His girlfriend died from a complication after childbirth, and her brother credited it to him as his fault. I understand grief that turns into anger, but to tell him never to get near another girl, or she'll die too is way too cruel.

So he and HJ liked that same girl. He has been feeling noble for not butting in, but it wouldn’t have made any difference if he had. The girl only had eyes for Soo Hyuk.

Mimo is beginning to seem that way too.
When HJ reveals that he isn’t in debt, but has actually bought a property, she doesn't even respond! Normally she’d has been over the moon but by this point, she’s not as into him or his finances anymore.

Now we are waiting to see Mimo chase SH, to HJ’s chagrin.
As an aside, I’d kinda like it if SH could change jobs. A tabloid reporter isn’t a respectable job for a grown man w integrity; the job is beneath him. Tho I’d take it if it forces him to be drag again.

Yes, DB was seriously having serious tech difficulties and I can see our posts (yours and mine on the Healer thread) disappearing and re-appearing at different times.

It's so true that in the end if there are 2 guys, it's the girl's choice that decides the coupling. And too bad for Mr Have-Girls-Throwing-Themselves-At-Him Hae Joon, but the girls he likes, don't seem to like him back.

With the bitterness of the past still on his mind, I wonder if he'll be able to be a gentleman and do what he suggested Soo Hyuk do, ie, have a one-sided love and wish the lady well with the one she loves. :)

And by all means, if Soo Hyuk's job gets him to dress up 'purty' or macho, I'm all for it too! :D

I am torn by what HJ said to SH bec all his arguments are valid but at the same time, it seems unfair to not allow SH to at least declare his feelings and see what choice MM makes. Normally, I would say, you can't horn in on a relationship where both parties like each other but with this particular situation, I feel like it's ok.
Here are my reasons: first off, contrary to what knetizens may have said, I don't think he has made any "move" towards MM. All his actions to date (since MM and HJ started dating) have not crossed the line of what childhood friends would do for each other. So he hasn't broken any bor-codes as yet. And him going to HJ first before MM, actually shows he honors his friendship with HJ enough to talk to him 1st.
Another reason is that they just started dating, just getting to know each other, they aren't in the serious phase yet, neither one of them are really sure of the other yet or have declared serious commitment to each other, he's barely even kissed her! and only when provoked by jealousy.
third: SH has seen that MM has not been really happy since they've started dating. He's been there for her more than HJ has. He's put her welfare first without being asked or prompted by feelings of jealousy. He doesn't play head games with her or manipulate her.
But we'll see where they take the story. I've been pleasantly surprised with where they've taken the 2 main leads, esp SH so far.

As for the rest of the Angels, I think it's very understandable (although totally frustrating) why DM has been reacting as she has.
Of all the Angels, she is the least attractive (accdg to how they wrote it anyway), the least # of fans, until recently has been chronically single, the least glamorous and lowest paying job. People have been insulting her and slighting her so long that it cannot help but breed insecurities that make it so easy for her to fall for the first guy to flatter her and make her feel special.
Contrary to others, I don't think it's the guy's looks that keep her so captivated, it's the affection and attention he heaps on her, he makes her feel special.
Something that no one has ever done for her before. So in a way, I cannot blame for falling and falling hard. Although I wish so much that she was smarter but since she has not been in a lot of relationships, she would be less sensitive to the danger signs that her more experienced friends can smell a mile away.

I agree she complains a lot but she isn't that bitter and narrow-minded, just childish and petty at times. They still congregate at her house which is the smallest and less comfy than MM. Ae ran crashes at her place even when she says no. She did say she was looking for a handsome guy with money, but who doesn't want that? And when the guy she likes turns out to be poor, she was ok with it, even used her savings to give him a costly gift, lends him money and didn't seem to mind that he was divorced and had kids.
So in the...

I agree with another poster who said that in a way it would be more satisfying if DJ and her husband did not get back together just to show that sometimes, love does not conquer all.

For me, this storyline frustrates me the most. DJ has consistently made decisions in her marriage that always was geared to protecting herself at the expense of her husband. She seems to forget that it is not just abt her.

She may have had post-natal depression and that is a big deal, but why couldn't she get help in 7 yrs or talk it out with her husband who loved her and didn't seem all that unapproachable?
She then holds him hostage when he asks for divorce when by then their marriage is miserable and hardly worth the paper it was printed on? I think I remember her saying he should go have an affair so she could get more money in the divorce. How low was that??

She then reaches out and asks for comfort but only when a life threatening crisis occurs! It's bad of me but I admit I cheered when he rejected her. It was a legitimate reaction to how she has been treating him all those yrs! I think she finally had an inkling (too late IMO) of how much her husband suffered from her actions.

To then releasing him without telling him the truth. It will probably be played off as a noble act, perhaps she thought that she's setting him free so he doesn't have to be burdened by her coming ordeal. Now imagine how he would feel when finally finds out she has cancer. He's been shown to be a decent guy, faithful and probably still loves her, so he would probably get eaten up with guilt.
Yes, if she told him of her cancer, he might feel obliged to stay and care for her out of duty, but that is his choice. How different is that from the last 7 yrs he's stuck around? He should be given all the facts and he can make a choice.
So then this act of hers, who does it really benefit?

All the angels are flawed but DJ's are the ones I find almost impossible to make allowances for.

We haven't seen a lot of DJ's story with her husband, so we don't really know if she was at faul for the marriage to fall apart (it was 7 years and we have only seen snippets). She may have been at fault, but in any case I just wanted to reply to the following:
"She may have had post-natal depression and that is a big deal, but why couldn't she get help in 7 yrs or talk it out with her husband..."
Well, I know for a fact that asking for help when one is suffering from depression is very difficult, not only because you don't know how, but also because sometimes you don't even realize that you are depressed. Also, if nobody ever noticed anything weird in her behavior (Besides her husband, who thought her behavior was a response to him, not a different problem altogether ), then maybe DJ was still very functional, just going through the motions of everyday life, and that is precisely the kind of depression that you notice until you are way in. Asking for help, or noticing her husband's suffering was probably not even possible for her at that time.
Now, they are both probably responsible in a way for the way the marriage ended, but she was depressed and he was hurt... all I'm saying is that not everything is black or white

Required fields are marked *

I agree, not everything is black and white and true, we haven't been shown a lot of detail re: what happened for those 7 yrs but I think it's implied that the rejection was one-direction at least in the beginning.
Repeated, continued, prolonged rejection in so many ways not just in the bedroom, is like death by a thousand cuts. Pure torture and a betrayal of the vows made.

I agree that people who suffer depression have a hard time asking for help or even recognizing that they need help. But, it is glaringly obvious that their marriage was in trouble, so why didn't they go to marriage counseling? At least I don't think they did. She seems to me as someone who would not acknowledge out loud that there is a problem and deal with it, but instead will deny it and pretend all is ok.
I hope they do reveal more abt those years and maybe it will make me soften towards her :-)

It'd be mean to not "wish DJ and her husband well", esp. when that kid is hanging in the balance. "Well" doesn't necessarily mean marriage if there has been too much damage done to their love that bonded them. As long as they can work out their resentment, guilt, unhappiness, and proceed one way or another (get back together or move on in an amicable divorce while continuing to be good loving parents to the boy), I'm ok w it.

I agree with this so much. The drama viewer in me (who just wants happy endings in romcoms) is rooting for them. But personally, I feel like the hurt is too much and has become a trauma for them both and for their relationship as well. 7 years is a long time and there is so much resentment there for them to love each other unconditionally anymore.

Since this is a drama about second chances at love, this is actually one of the instances where I do feel they're better off having a fresh start with someone new. They've already been stuck in a marriage without love for so long, why prolong the misery. Yeah sure love is powerful but you can love more than once in your life and if it's causign you more misery than happiness, then you need to put yourself first and find a happinesss that isn't reliant on another person.

This drama is getting better. I love this episode from beginning to end. I love how they try so many topics and how they devote some time to each of them.

Da-Jeong and her husband: that was just heartbreaking but I was kind of expecting she'd go that route, after we've seen that she rather keeps his husband in the dark than tell him what's going on with her, which also proves how far apart they are.

I hope that Dong Mi finally sees that Oven Guy is using her for money and walks out of that relationship. If she hangs in there, she's gonna get hurt, but at the same time I think it will lead to the wake-up call she needs.

I love how Ae ran didn't settle for what Bang Don Bae was telling her to do. I see her and Dong Mi as to opposite ends that complement: one has a seemingly perfect love life she just discovered is not and the other is so desperate to have one that she is blind to all the signs her newly found love is far from perfect.

The friendship of the four leading ladies is one of the things that give me life in this show. Why DaJeong has not told them that she has breast cancer is a mystery to me.

Min-woo has just become one of my favorite sons in kdrama. The way he cares for his father is touching. Their relationship is touching.

And finally the triangle that became a square, this show never cease to surprise me! All the back stories made it even more interesting!

She probably need to process her situation first, before she does that and I am sure she will soon. What makes me wonder is why her friends haven't done anything about her marriage situation for 7 years. It seems like they have been ignorig that there is a problem just like her. The few sympatic coments that have been made about her husband, did get trough, thus it would have helped a lot.

Yes, I agree with you, she needs to process the situation before she tells anyone what is really going on with her. The scene where she expresses she is worried not to live like a woman anymore but fails to see that having the surgery will let her see her son grow, proves that.

As to the lack of action from the friends in the past seven years, maybe they tried and gave up when they saw she was determined to keep the situation that way. By the way it looks they are not close to Da-Jeong's husband and she seems the kind of person that goes on with what she thinks is best for her, whether it is wrong or hurtful to other people. I think that all of them know he loves her and that she should fight for it. I also think she keeps too many things for herself. I wanna see how they all react once she finally reveals she's battling cancer.

Re: Mi Mo being irritating…everyone in the show is flawed in significant ways. I kind of dig that. I especially love seeing four flawed female leads who are allowed to be human, not villains, without excuses being made for their behavior either. It's all very matter of fact and that's pretty refreshing. I *especially* love seeing Jang Na Ra continuing to go beyond typecasting and playing a woman who is on the abrasive side, dramatic, and more than a little self-absorbed. I mean, let's be real…not everyone is sweetness and light, and it gets boring when female leads are all written as saints. Male leads don't have to be, so it's nice to see some women getting in on the flawed hero action too ;)

I do feel the Hae-joon's feelings for Mi-mo are sincere. He has been this cool, rational person who doesn't show an ounce of emotion. But here comes Mi-mo, and added to that a complicated love triangle with his friend, and he's cracking.

However, it does make wonder if he's finally showing some emotion because the one involved is Soo-hyuk and how the situation felt similar to Yeon-soo. This time he doesn't want to suffer and wants to fight for this relationship, in his own "way".

I'm still on Team Soo-hyuk but I'm really curious on how Mi-mo and Hae-joon's relationship will progress from here.

I thought he did an excellent acting job; he was never credited in anything I could find.

The vignette at the beginning was really quite tragic. Suddenly I understood everything about Soo Hyuk's reluctance to enter into a relationship, especially when it showed Seon Soo's brother saying he'd kill any woman he was with. It seemed like they were in the early days of college so practically fresh out of high school and that kind of thing makes a huge impact on someone so young.

I did love that Min Soo came back for his father's hug. It was precious.

I have a little more pity now for Hae Joon, but maybe Mi Mo would have been more confident in her feelings for you if you hadn't fucked around so much at the beginning. Now that he realizes he could lose her, he starts to reassure her, starts trying to be affectionate. Mate, this is shit you do at the start!

While I feel bad for Dong Mi, I wonder really how she got so crooked in her behavior. She's so mean and shrill; she's practically a spinster stereotype. But that doesn't mean she deserves to be swindled like that.

Da-Jung and her husband just break my heart. In that moment of sliding over those divorce papers you could see that neither of them wanted this and that they still care deeply. They just can't bridge the divide between themselves.

is it weird that I am much more curious about what's going on with Da-jung and her husband Geun-hak ? Theirs is a heartbreaking story of lack of communication and pent-up frustrations... :-(

I am so glad that I am not the only one that does not like Haejoon. Since the very beginning his character rubbed me the wrong way although I couldn't explain why. I was surprise when I heard that knetizens actually preferred him to Soohyuk. I mean Soohyuk is not perfect either but at least he's not...bland and condescending...also Haejoon is a terrible friend and boyfriend. I really hope this love triangle is going to be resolved quickly because even if Mimo didn't like Soohyuk (which she obviously does, anyone can see that), there's no way that she (anyone) would be able to stay in that sort of stiff and boring relationship for much longer. Especially now that she realized Haejoon's true nature with that awful excuse of a first kiss.

Well, lost a big comment from the site flaking out. Ah well. Anyone know who is playing Oven Guy? I'm glad that for all she's getting taken for a ride by him that at least he was able to help her face down that jackass ex-.

I love this drama so much!!! The leads are getting better and better. This episode was amazing for Hyunk!!! He made me feel so sad for him, I could feel his pain. All the stories are getting more interesting and I wish them all a happy ending...
Now the doctor is so annoying I cant stand him!!!

I agree with the Korean netizens on this one!

Mi-mo is shallow, irresponsible, and self-centered with men. Not ALL the time but OFTEN.

When I started watching this show I thought she'd just run into a string of bad people, but in the span of about 1 month she's professed love to 4 men. (I'm counting her sit-down with the ex-husband.) I think 3 of those men she only "loved/loves" because they are handsome and rich. I think she can't recognize that she loves Soo-hyuk because he doesn't fit her shallow k-idol ideal.

As for Hae-joon, like the netizens, he's my favorite over Soo-hyuk. Calm and conservative doctor versus frequently drunk tabloid reporter? That's an easy call for me. Still, I don't think he should be with Mi-mo because I think their personalities aren't suited to one another.

If Mi-mo and Soo-hyuk do get together I hope they drink less. There's a child under 10 depending on you. Get it together folks!

Ellie, you are entitled to your opinion but a few corrections need to be made.

First Soo Hyuk's son is not under 10... If that's who you are referring to... He is 13. A teenager...so I daresay he doesn't need round-the-clock care from either MM or SH.

Second, SH is not a constantly drunk individual... He keeps getting to drown out his intense emotions regarding MM whom it has currently become complicated for him to be with... In ep.5 when his son goes to MM's agency he tells her...he thinks MM's agency should help his dad get a lady for himself and not a mother for him, becos his dad is lonely and has even 'started drinking' ...so he hasn't always been a drunk.

Three. I'm sure people who root for HJ like his demeanor and his respectable doctor job but can't you find anything lacking in his overall personality? Seriously. Was it okay that in the initial phase of his relationship he decided to play it cool and aloof when MM wanted more? If you take the coal out of the fire to cool down completely, even if you toss it back in there it takes a while to heat up again... MM cooled off and now HJ was her to super excited about him...how instant

Lastly... I also grew upset at MM in this ep. Becos her dedication to HJ was becoming too questionable... But like I explained in Three...I totally get it and will give her a pass...

Affie,

I think you were trying to be nice but you don't need to tell me I'm entitled to my opinion. I know that. That's why I left it. ;-) You can just tell me you disagree. I won't attack you.

Thanks for the correction about the kid's age! I wrote frequently not constantly, but no biggie.

Do I see things wrong with HJ? Sure. There are flaws in every person. I still prefer him to SH.

I didn't get the feeling that Hae Joon was calling his friend, Soo Hyuk. I got the impression that he was calling Mi Mo for reassurance because he is doubting their relationship.
