Gong Yoo confirms writer Kim Eun-sook’s fantasy drama Goblin

The new drama from Descended From the Sun writer Kim Eun-sook finally has a working title, a story, a timeslot, and a leading man: Gong Yoo (A Man and a Woman, Big) has signed on to headline, and the series is due to air on tvN in November, as expected. It’s called Goblin, and it’ll be a fantasy drama about a goblin and a reaper who start living together (it sounds a little like tvN’s other supernatural drama about a ghost and an exorcist becoming roomies).

It’s a story about a goblin, “the protector,” who needs a human bride in order to end his immortal life. We’re not told why he’d want to end immortality, but maybe he’s tired of being beautiful forever? And then there’s a reaper, “the taker,” who has amnesia. (It doesn’t specify in the press releases whether the heroine would be the amnesiac reaper, but that would be my guess, unless she’s the human bride. Please don’t make her the human bride.)

The goblin and the reaper meet “somewhere between fate and a curse,” and the story is about their peculiar living arrangement, as they escort dead souls into the afterlife. I wonder if the goblin starts helping out with the reaper’s work because of the amnesia? It’ll be the story of their “mysterious, sad, strange, and beautiful daily lives.”

So it sounds like a contemporary drama with supernatural characters, which is less of a departure for writer Kim Eun-sook than it first seemed when the project was first announced. I mean, technically Secret Garden was mystical, so maybe it’ll be closer to that show. It’s being called a romantic comedy, so that’s familiar ground, plus anything Kim Eun-sook writes will end up a romance anyway, no matter what else it’s about.

I do like the premise, since I’ve always been a sucker for fantasy dramas and stories about reapers, especially the ones that treat it like a job. If it’s anything like Dead Like Me, I might love it, but it’s hard to know what kind of curveball the goblin/human bride element will be. Coincidentally, Gong Yoo was being courted for the film saga With the Gods where he would’ve played a reaper. I guess reapers are all the rage these days. I really hope this writer doesn’t ruin reapers for me, or Gong Yoo for that matter, because I don’t know if I could forgive her for that. Crossing all fingers and toes, thinking positive thoughts…

Goblin will air on Fridays and Saturdays in November.

Will give it a shot for GY and maybe KES will do better w/ a different genre.

i wasnt a huge fan of LMH to begin with (thought he was just alright) and Heirs ruined him completely. I'd already seen Woo Bin in multiple things prior to Heirs that I quite liked (whereas I only ever saw LMH in BOF, since I never got around to watching Faith or City Hunter). So I remain a fan...for now lol.
It helps that movie with him and kang ha neul being silly guys in their 20's came out not long after. a nicel palette cleanser haha. (or is it palate?) Here's hoping "lightly, ardently" isnt a huge disappointment tho.
(woo bin was actually kinda hilarious in Heirs, i feel like he was purposely chewing the scenery to the max during the whole thing. well what i watched ne way, which was alot more of it than i dare admit haha)

Exactly what I wanted instead as well. But asking that from KES is like asking the Easter Bunny for Christmas presents: You want something meaningful, but all you get is a chance to roam around trying to find the hidden treasures only to find out that they're just eggs in pretty colours and you just wasted an hour of your life.

She completely ruined SJK for me *sniffles* I feel like I never want to watch another drama with him which is odd since he was one of the only good things about that show.

3

KES is not a drama-writer, she is a SOAP writer.

Some people love that kind of stuff.

For me, that's nothing but crap fluff.

I dropped it after the ridiculous car accident from the cliff, i was struggling for those whole 6 episodes but the accident was the end of my struggle

I don't think she's going to ruin Gong Yoo, but that's a) because I'm not going to watch this and b) because I hope that after this Gong Yoo is going to do projects (preferably film) again that are well-written and worth watching.

I guess Gong Yoo thinks he needs this for some reason, but as much as I think he's a wonderful actor I'm not going to watch this for him. The premise sounds fine, but I'm just severely allergic to this writer.

At least the sequel will be easy to name: 'Descendants of the Goblin'. Or 'Goblin's Heirs'. Hey, 'Descendants of the Goblin's Heirs'!

Maybe they should have kept the original title, then the sequel could have been 'Descendants of the Sun' - wait a minute. Does this explain how YSJ has supernatural powers?

He totally needs a hit drama under his belt after the mess that was Big, and I really don't get why people here don't understand why this is actually a good move for him.

I get why people aren't keen on a drama or writer, but people really need to realize that having a hit drama or film is going to give a celeb they like a lot more leeway than starring in quality dramas that no one watches.

If I were an actor, you better believe I rather star in hits even if they weren't the most quality, than small, critically acclaimed indie crap that no one cares about....but that's just me.

Because he can't find a good drama, he could just stick to film, which comes with more money and prestige than dramaland. And better working conditions to boot.

<If I were an actor, you better believe I rather star in hits even if they weren’t the most quality, than small, critically acclaimed indie crap that no one cares about….but that’s just me.

Well, I care about that small indie crap. There's also quality stuff that isn't small indie but medium or big production. If you're an up-and-coming actor who has little to choose from, I can see why'd do a big, rating-hits drama with zero/little substance, relatively limited challenge to acting and mediocre writing, but if you're A-list with your pick of choices to make, I'm still going to feel like you're selling your soul. Which there might be a reason for, but still not enough reason for me to want to watch.

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

Shouldn't it be the other way round? If you really are a nobody/newbie who has little to choose from, hit-writers like Kim Eun Sook won't be courting you to star in their dramas? Offers usually go out to the famous ones (those that are actually able to pick and choose) first no?

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

I'm not talking lead roles. Dramas don't take unknown or little known actors as their leads anyhow.

I'm thinking of people like Kang Haneul or Im Joo-eun taking a smallish supporting role (e.g. in Heirs), or complete unknowns. These people are just trying to make a living and catch a break in a very difficult industry. The lead offers go out to people who will have other offers on the table.

0

@ alua,

So I'm trying to understand: how does that work, that the movie industry comes with more prestige and more money? The movie industry (or aspect of the entertainment industry) offers more money, how? Because of the number of tickets that will be sold? Because of the people producing movies (and producing companies) who can afford to offer more in terms of pay to the actors?

And then I guess actors in the movie side of the industry are taken more seriously? Why is that though? Are the requirements and standards higher for movies?

I also get the sense that actors (and actresses) choose to do dramas because if the drama does well, said actor or actress could become more popular, which then can translate into more CFs, more (paid) fan meetings at home and abroad, more choices in acting roles maybe?etc... Whereas the number of people watching Korean movies worldwide is not as big as the number of people watching kdramas. Am I assuming wrong? I have read articles and interviews in which some actors and actresses said such things (about the popularity aspect and its impact).

I don't know if you will see this comment, however if you do, I hope to read your thoughts on my comments and questions. Thank you!

i can only pray she doesn't make this drama of heirs/DOTS of yesterday i've been rewatching on air, which was a kim eun-sook drama i really loved and have watched at least ten times. i haven't seen it in at least three or four years though, so i have a fresh perspective.

i have to say, i still like it. you still see classic kim eun-sookish elements in the show, but it was light enough, funny enough, and still poignant enough to do the trick for me. i wish she'd write more like that... it seems like ever since secret garden her writing has been becoming increasingly superficial.

LOL how is Secret Garden BETTER than DoTS? I mean ok i fu dont like it, but idk how anyone can watch SG and think its better than DoTS or think Heirs and DOTS are on the same level. like say what u want about the storyline but the romances were way healthier and the male leads werent huge creeps so that already makes DOTS >>>>> SG/Heirs.

Altho I remain surprised no one ever mentions City Hall when talking about KES. that was a lit good drama. i wish we had more of those from her. perhaps if Goblin is pre produced she wont fall back into her old habits and make another 50 Shades lite hero/romance pairing.

0
9
reply

Required fields are marked *

Yeah, I'm with you on the contrast in the healthier romances and better male characters that DOTS had in comparison to SG, but I guess this is saranga's personal preference?

Also not quite sure why the pre-produced aspect would lead you to hope that she won't fall back into her old habits... I mean DOTS was pre-produced and old characteristics of her writing did show through. Well... I mean I'm always hoping, either way.

0
reply

Required fields are marked *

I mean, yes, out of those three DOTS is better in terms of quality and production. But, imo, Secret Garden was actually entertaining and Heirs was entertaining in a hot mess kind of way.

Sure, DOTS had better quality production value, but the fact that Heirs, a drama about EIGHTEEN year old chaebols in freaking high school had more plot than DOTS, a drama about a medical/army team in a war torn country is hilarious on about three million different levels.

0
reply

Required fields are marked *

I'd have to say that I personally think Secret Garden is her best drama. DotS certainly has a healthier romance, but it was pretty boring and there was little to no plot in that drama. Secret Garden was a mess in a lot of ways but at least it was funny and entertaining. Heirs, however, is a piece of trash and I don't understand how anyone could enjoy it. Not only were the relationships unhealthy, but it was painfully boring.

0
2
reply

Required fields are marked *

I like that trash name Heirs

0

I'm also one who thinks SeGa > DOTS. Even though the SeGa relationship was unhealthy, the show was entertaining, there was a plot, a central conflict, and the main character had a lot of room to grow.

DOTS had a healthy relationship, but was boring because it lacked in all the other areas.

0

i never really said secret garden was "better" than DOTS or heirs.

what i meant was that i considered secret garden to be superior in that i thought it had more story and more plot than DOTS did—and i found it much more entertaining. it had its holes, and overall i wasn't really crazy about it, but it was an entertaining watch while it lasted. but i never fell under its spell, though i know many did.

Required fields are marked *

SG was absolutely horrible.

Nothing but stock, one-note stereotypical characters on top of stock, one-note stereotypical situations.

Even the romance/relationship btwn the leads (the heart of a romcom) was an absolute mess.

Hyun Bin's character basically stalks and forces himself on Ha Ji-won's character - where she basically can't stand him.

Then after the body switch (which wasn't done well and any explanation was foregone since that would have been too hard to do for KES - which is why she kinda dropped the whole thing), HJW's character is suddenly madly in love w/ HB's character w/o any real reason/development to show for it.

Basically - stupid TV.

Altho I remain surprised no one ever mentions City Hall when talking about KES.

GIRL! I am here for it! I will talk about City Hall ALL DAY LONG!! Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh~~~(ノ゚0゚)ノ~~~hhhhhhhhhhhh!

City Hall is one of my favorite dramas, and as I was saying in another comment thread, it boggles my mind that it came from the same person who wrote Secret Garden. It's like KES had a complete frontal lobe replacement between the two dramas.

Her male character in Secret Garden is a rapey narcissist with no respect for boundaries, and her female character starts off awesome and then quickly loses her personality as she becomes nothing more than a vehicle for the hero's development.

On the other hand, in City Hall, the male character is a deeply flawed, but also fundamentally decent man. The female character -- played by Kim Sun-ah, which I believe is the reason I was drawn to this drama in the first place -- is a somewhat downtrodden office worker who becomes impassioned enough by local politics that she enters the mayoral race for her small coastal city. The confluence of the two characters' goals and skills is so well-written, and they both influence each other for the better. The female lead also remains the protagonist of her own story from start to finish, which is deeply refreshing. The romance between the two characters is believable and adult, nothing like the wide-eyed paralysis from Ha Ji-won that occurs when Hyun Bin's character kisses her in Secret Garden.

Last BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST (!!!!!O_O!!!!!), this is the drama that introduced me to Cha Seung-won. Holy $#!+, that man is gorgeous. 'Nuf said.

As an international viewer, it really puzzles me how all the comments I read about KES dramas are positively negative yet she always have super high ratings. A case of netizens hate her writing while korean audiences love it? Or just her fans are less vocal kind of thing (like maybe too embarrassed to admit they liked the cheesiness of her dramas or something?) Or just that I'm reading from the wrong sites and fail to see the overwhelming love for KES dramas...

Personally except for Heirs (which was a little bland for me but I still finished it because it had some interesting characters besides the leads), her dramas are always entertaining if not logical lol.

I wouldn't take the opinions of people on sites like this, or NB, or other kpop/kdrama sites as the majority opinion of international drama watchers. A lot of people might not use these sites, and these sites basically cater to English speaking ifans - you're missing a big demographic with just that factor alone.

As for the constant complaining about KES dramas, I honestly can't take it seriously. It's like when people constantly complain about LMH or PSH, and yet they still continue to watch their dramas lmaoo.

The amount of people that hate-watched Heirs and then came on this site, or other sites, to write novel-length comments about how much they hated Heirs was amazing.

Like, I really wish I had that much time on my hands to complain about a twenty hour Korean soap.

I see the same thing with DoTS, where some people get absurdly defensive whenever anyone says they didn't like the show for whatever reason. It's just a TV show. People are not insulting your mom.

There is overwhelming love for her dramas though, they do have that addicting flair, the slick lines that become catchphrases and witty banter, and she has the ability to write content that becomes trendy, whether it be a really catchy line or a reoccurring joke. Some people do hate watch it, which in itself is an impressive feat-- getting people to care so much about your drama that they watch it despite disliking it. Others are caught up in the hype, and then there are people who genuinely enjoy the cliches and her glossy romantic writing. I think if you go on facebook pages of Viki and Dramafever (or Soompi or Koreaboo or Allkpop) I think the majority of the comments are in constant praise and appreciation of her hit dramas. Those are also English speakers as well. Sites like DB, Netizenbuzz, Kkuljaem, Kpopkfans, etc draw in a different kind of crowd, dare I even say a more dedicated crowd? Or perhaps dedicated isn't the right word, but they want to have discussions and talk about news in hallyu beyond the depth comments on the other sites. 'Positive' websites like the aforementioned Viki and etc aren't really aiming to bring in criticism, I assume. The demographic of DB, the people who comment on drama articles on NB, and the like are also mostly drama fans who take that initiative to contribute to the criticism and discussion beyond the praising and the fangirling (although there still is plenty of that). There's just an increase of people who feel like those sites are an appropriate space to leave criticism and 'unpopular' opinions

And kinda OT, but I really kind of feel iffy with the notion of people saying "For someone who hates ____ you spend a lot of time talking about it"-- not that this comment is invalid if you're talking about someone who truly hates something and writes paragraphs of hate without justification, but a lot of times on here and NB (and the other websites in that other list) some people say that in response to others who have expressed actual criticism and their own explanations as to why they thought a certain thing was a disappointment/wasn't as good as they expected. Even if the person might dislike a thing, maybe they enjoy discussing its impact or the ways it could have been better? I just find this remark often times used in a way to demean intelligent conversation in a pretty condescending, as if people are being petty for explaining why they feel a certain way about a certain thing.

I guess the bottom line is, different strokes for different folk?

I'm not saying people can't or shouldn't hate watch or write long comments rehashing the same issues with a drama over and over again.

I'm just judging them for it.

lmfao, I do judge people for hate-watching as well (like well, why would you-- don't torture yourself), and for the rehashing-- yeah that gets redundant... but idk I guess everyone just wants their opinions heard.

Yeah, of course, the whole point of a comment section is to comment and get your point across, I just don't really get this massive hate boner people have for Heirs, especially with this writer and the main actors. I mean PSH was in a critically and commercially successful drama after Heirs, and LMH's film post Heirs was critically and commercially successful as well. Bottomline, they got good reviews in their projects before and after, and people STILL bring Heirs up.

Like, if a sixteen to twenty episode drama ruins an actor for you for all eternity....IDK, man, maybe you should get some help.

It's been more than two years. People need to make like Elsa and let it go.

Sidenote - NB, Kkullj., kpkf, etc. are TERRIBLE sites to discuss dramas. Those sites are basically comprised of teenage kpop stans who are pressed over the fact that their faves don't get good comments lol. Plus, they mainly watch the buzzy worthy dramas and are only familiar with hallyu actors. Also, the amount of times people have called out actual good actors and actresses for supposed bad acting, while praising their faves for being able to remember a line correctly is ridiculous.

0

I mean, I guess Heirs is just the most striking example of KES's worst qualities as a writer and the limits of LMH/KWB's capabilities in the face of those writing flaws? But I do agree, a lot of the fans on kpkf, nb, kkulj, and the like don't know about PSH and LMH's projects besides Heirs, and the ignorance shows when they're making the same old case about how PSH and LMH suck bc Heirs sucked.

Damn, has it really been two years already? TBH I can't even recall anything specific about Heirs except the feeling of vague disappointment and the line "Hey you, put your eyebrows down." Dammnit KES, always making the catchy/memorable one-liners.

And yes, lmfao I've seen people defend a lot of idol actors that aren't really up to par... or even halfway decent. I don't know, I'd say kkuljaem is better than the rest, but yeah, there's a lot of anger and oppar defending amongst them in general. And ofc, db isn't free from them either, (no matter how much we would like to think) just check the last news article about Jeon Ji-hyun. Sighs.

0

I intend to watch Heirs even though I know I won't like it. Why? Because everyone references it and I'm a sucker for knowing references. If I choose self-inflicted dramawatching torture, does that mean I have any less right to be make well-grounded critique of it? No. And most of the time there will always be *something* in a drama that I like and I will always mention that. And then there are the times when I start watching a drama and end up not liking it, yet hating to leave something unfinished, I watch till the end. And yes, it may sound silly or stupid to many, but in the end at least it helps improve my Korean ;) I don't know what other people's reasoning for "hate-watching" would be (not even sure why you'd call it that), just saying that what doesn't make sense to you will make sense to others and it doesn't make your critique less valid if you didn't like a drama.

3

I have noticed the NB, Kkjuli and allkpop(allkpop but anymore because they have changed the hidden and ppl have to comment with their actual SNS)

These are Kpop communities who are borderline mad and not sane people and they target some actors/actresses and now even famous screenwriters like KES is on their shitlist even Park Ji-eun.

The 90% of the hate SJK is getting is from them and all the famous people in the Entertainment acting department are on their shitlist. so the question is why? they will like these ppl are blocking their idols and get media and Netizens love both K and I. they are beyond bitter and you can't imagine the rage inside them and when you read when they go on the attack on some random famous actor/actress it's literally horrow movie comment section and really take it to far.

They hate-watch everything that has got success and popularity and I'm telling you this they are about 60-65% of this community in DB right now.

Their comments is easy to track and you will see them give props tv-shows that literally nobody watched and that is just one of the give aways.

They are not into Tv or anything just hurt for no damn reason and blaming it on some random actors/actresses who merely working for their own livelihood because the comments they rain down is so baseless that a 3-yr old kid can see thru it and not long ago I was reading one of them admitting to have been hurt by what he called the other actors/actresses fans diss us yada yada. I was like dude relax because these fans do not follow Kpop music at all and mostly Kdramas are casuals who will watch whatever they can find and put it on tv and watch it with their boyfriends and whatever and some of them do leave comments here and follow around some actors/actresses but not all of them.

Why do you think they have been dragging heirs for long then it should have been? it's because they are still bitter over the popularity the actors/actresses gained from that show and for them popularity means alot apparently.

They hate the actor/actress the more popular he or she is.

Imo they are cancerous to DB and all areas their is comment sections regarding TV and movies. The casuals mostly just drop a show if they don't like and never mention it unless it's brought up because they just can't remember since they drop many shows but they are definitely not ultra religiously motivated like these communites are in discrediting specfic popular shows

There is zero correlation btwn ratings and quality.

See Michael Bay films ("Transformers" series, "Pearl Harbor", etc.)

See "Two and Half Men" or "How I Met Your Mother."

See "Beverly Hills 90201" or "Melrose Place"

See anything related to the Kardashians.

KES is a crappy SOAP writer - a lot of people like that kind of brainless "entertainment."

This! As much as I also dislike elements of KES writings, gotta admit that she does know what she's doing and it's appealing to most kdrama viewers in SK. We are so quick on expressing our judgements, but our effect as international viewers are not as relevant as domestic watchers in Korea (ratings-wise) which then affect the relevance of the actor. And I'm saying this not just for this show but in general Hallyu fandom as well.

I have to admit that it's a tad disappointing to me that Gong Yoo will be on one of her dramas, however it has been a while since he has done one (Big to me didn't happen either!). And why not partner up with a writer who guarantees commercial success?

I think they call it "hate watching " because that is the term for watching something just for the enjoyment of mocking it or criticising it.

Ahh that makes sense, thanks (: It just seems like a lot of people use the term very loosely and apply to anyone and everyone who watched something they disliked, which really confused me. But I'm happy the definition doesn't apply to anything other than that. Don't think I've ever hate-watched anything, my lack of patience would never allow that lol!

Sounds like a book a read recently called "The Golem and the Jinni" by Helen Wecker. The golem is a female made out of clay by a man seeking a wife and the jinni is an amnesiac male who is released from being trapped in an ancient artifact....I won't go on because the story is rather complicated (and very long) but I immediately thought of this...

Either way, Gong Yoo would make a very handsome goblin lol

Story aside, however ridiculous KES' story, there will still be numbers of people willingly watch her drama.

I can't wrap my head around this because goblins aren't meant to be human in form to me so it seems a little... iffy. Is he still supposed to be pretty? I also have a hunch that the reaper is probably the second male lead, and the human bride the female lead. In any case, I'm averse to fantasy dramas in general, unless the fantasy portion is kept to a minimum. Probably won't be watching unless the cast is absolutely phenomenal.

Same with me.I don't get discouraged by the comments here.I would have missed out on dots if I read the reviews here before watching it.They just hate anything Kim eun seok. And people should really stop blaming Lee min ho for heirs,he was not the writer of that drama. He just acted out the script.
As for the hatred for Lee min ho here, don't worry, they don't hate him.some people pretending they hate him or his acting would still watch his drama when it comes out.The only thing they would do is complain about his acting but they would still watch it and fill this place with 1000+ comments.
BTW I'm looking forward to Gong Yoo's new drama. He made a good choice by picking this drama. At least it's a guaranteed hit.Better to star in a hit drama than be in a flop.I would have done the same if I were him and I want my oppa to be successful not to star in a drama no one watches.

Well, I knew about Kwb and kjw way before heirs, and really really liked them. Heirs did bring them into a relatively big budgeted exposure but I doubt if that brought them much recognition looking at how brighter of them were cast in mainstream bug roles or dramas immediately. Kjw got the popularity from dots and I hope Kwbgeta his share from his next project.

Don't get me wrong, I like the writer...she has given me some of the best dramas in my list of most loved dramas of all time, projects like heirs make me nervous; I was just apprehensive of bad luck when it comes to gong yoo... after all no One really forgot the disaster called big.

Besides,if you are truly his fan,you will be happy that dots made him successful and a hallyu star today.Kim soo hyun is a hallyu star because of yfas which I don't think is that great.Lmh is a hallyu star because of bof which wasnt great either.Believe me,these actors need one drama in their life time to be well known. They have time to choose better dramas in the future.Besides,Dots was okay, it doesn't deserve the kind of hate it gets here. There were many faults but it's still watchable.I feel like any drama that is popular is always hated on dramabeans.

No - shows that have quality writing, acting and directing and achieved popularity are loved.

For example - "AM/Reply 1988", "Coffee Prince," "Tree With Deep Roots," " Dae Jang Geum", "Misaeng," etc.

In the case of tMEtS - it was one-quarter a quality drama (w/ the child actors).

Quality when it comes to entertainment is nothing more than the public's taste, people's opinion on things, including the critics' opinion. That's it. If I like something it's quality for me and so on. People in general act too dramatic when it comes to minor stuff like tv shows or music. Just enjoy what you want and quit complaining so much. Everyone in here exaggerates everything and yet they accuse the writer of being overly dramatic/cheesy with things. The irony!

It's a open forum of sorts though here? I don't get it - - there are as many (if not more) people mindlessly fawning or swooning over xxxx series here, as there are people mindlessly complaining and leaving well-founded criticisms. So why does the latter have to take the heat? As long as either isn't purposely inflammatory, why can't both exist side by side?

TL;DR: Freedom of speech, people.

Yes. An actor need one drama/project in his life time to be well known, but to be well known for a drama like DotS, to me personally, is insulting, if he is indeed passionate about his career as an actor that is.

And I'm pretty sure SJK will indeed find a better project in the future but still there are some role(s) actor takes that will forever haunt him and his fans and even some viewers. For example, LMH in BoF. His portrayal in BoF, I can never see him in any project and not think about the disastrous of BoF, which resulting in me not being able to truly like him in any character. It's sad but it's the truth.

That is why an actor really need more than one popular project in his life to be well-known. For example, KSH. He not only made it big with YFAS but before that he had TMETS which was huge for its run. However with KHS he somehow also get decent popular projects. I can't say the same with LHM. Both BoF and Heirs are wtf am I watching? type of drama. The only work of his that I was able to watch fully if not half attentively is City Hunter and PMY has a huge part in it.

With SJK, I can at least think about Wolf Boy and Tree with Deep Roots, and maybe even Nice Guy and that's a big maybe. I don't see the "KES ruins SJK for me" either because to me SJK proves to me that he is a great actor from his previous work before enlistment so I still have those memories to linger on. Some people think that DotS is like SJK only project or something. It's ridiculous.

I mean, his impending spark in popularity isn't going to be a question here, which is nice, but in addition to that, wouldn't an improvement on KES's end be nice as well? Have a story that's got even more solid writing as well? Anyway, here's to hoping that this fantasy drama turns out for the best!

Man, I feel like Yoon Eunhye would do more harm than good though. Idk if knetz/the Korean public are still up in arms about her plagiarism scandal from last year, but if the public still is, there would be bad press surrounding it and that's just no bueno. But I do agree, she needs a good drama after her previous flops. Just not sure if there's the opportunity to do so without the (seemingly inevitable) backlash.

The goblin, the reaper and the human bride, that's one love triangle I wouldn't mind checking out LMAO

But I'm very confused atm. If the story is about a goblin and a reaper, what would the human bride do there? Get in between them or is the human bride and the goblin the love story and the reaper gets on between them? Will we have a 2 flowers and a gardener instead of 2 gardeners and a flower this time?

Or does the reaper lose her memories and thinks she's human and marries the goblin and falls in love and then when she recovers her memories there's conflict and then they make up and start fighting evil together? I'd watch that. Better yet, hire me, I'll write the drama and then maybe people will stop complaining about this.

Seriously you guys like to exaggerate so much you'd think this woman kills these actors' careers instead of giving them immense popularity.

I didn't read "Ferryman," but a friend described the plot to me in quite a lot of detail, and this drama's plot sounds awfully similar to it. I don't care how cute and cheesy the scenes where. There are lots of dramas with cute and silly scenes and lines. The story wasn't well written. The serious parts and cliffhangers were not solid and were pretty guessable.
I think KES does better on simple romance-comedy dramas like SG, Gentleman's dignity. She better avoid action coz she didn't do well in DotS. That is what I believe. Of course, people have different ideas.
