Name That Drama: Flower birthmarks and green sheets of paper

As always, feel free to email us your questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.

  1. It could be anyone

Beanies, I need your help. This particular scene has been haunting me for some time now. Can you remember a drama that has a feisty female lead who loves to call her boyfriend (or maybe a boy she likes? A boy who likes her?) and her best friend “dab-dab-ah” or “frustrating person/guy/girl?” It’s quite an unusual endearment and I couldn’t figure out where it comes from. Oh, and also, I’m pretty sure it’s from a recent drama, no older than 2010. Thanks for the help.

  2. Every weekend family makjang ever

There is this drama, but I don’t remember the cast or the title. But according to my memory, it was a Korean drama filmed before 2014, and the lead woman marries this man because she is poor, his family abuses her, and the husband’s family sends her to an insane asylum. That’s how far I got and I never finished it, but I’m sure it was on Netflix.

  3. This actually does sound familiar, but I can’t think of it either

Hi, I don’t remember the name of this drama, but I remember the plot vaguely. It’s about a lowly celestial handmaiden who was part of the heavenly gardens, and she cultivated more than any of the others but remained in the lowly position because she loved flowers. I can’t remember why, but then she had to be reincarnated on earth. She had a flower birthmark on her face. Sorry, that’s all I remember.

  4. Cooks, cleans, and sings

I don’t remember when it came out, but it was about a girl, who was ignored by her mom when she was little and wasn’t smart. Later in the drama she has a husband/boyfriend that cheats on her, and his brother comes and starts to fall for her. She also cleans his house I think, and enters a bread competition and runs a bakery.

There’s a scene I remember where the brother and the main lady are getting blue jugs out of the truck. I also know the main lady is a singer in real life, and did a song for this drama.

  5. Name that Drama or Movie or Story

I don’t know if this is a Korean drama or a Korean movie or a story that someone told me, but I can’t stop laughing whenever I think about it.

So there is this guy whose mother married someone who’s not Korean. Whenever he asks for money from his mother, he wouldn’t say the word “ton” [money] because his dad would understand what it means. Therefore, he would say it like this in Korean, “Mom, actually I’m financially down these days. Can you give me some green sheets of paper?” Then, his mom would say that she will give him some. The green sheets of paper would mean money.

The guy who’s asking about money is employed, and I think his father is American, because of the color of an American dollar.

Thanks for playing, everyone — till next time!

Yes number 4 sounds like Love Keeps Going with Mike He and you really should keep going past the idea of watching it... You've been warned! If you are interested in Mike He then try something else like Sunny Happiness. As for female lead Cyndi Wang, I have seen at least 3 dramas with her and I can't honestly recommend any.

Your comment is so on point! I actually tried to finish it without the subs after Episode 37 and oh boy it was really disappointing! It started out so good and then it was all about lying and dishonesty and I don't know what's happening anymore! I mean Qiao Fei started out so strong. Jia Yang too. and then He fell inlove he became so vulnerable. But still understanding. If you still want to try watching it. stop at Episode 20+ don't even dare continue up until 30. Booo

I started to get crazy drama vibes too and stopped watching for awhile. I've been debating whether to start it back up, but I've been afraid that I might end up throwing my iPad out a window if I watched more insane nonsense. Thanks for the conformation!

This is so sad to read. I even added it to one of my favorites of 2016 after watching the first 20 episodes So I don't want to go back and watch the rest. Thanks for the warning. I love the heroes that start off kind of snotty.

I don't think so I just watched Love Keeps Going a few weeks back and its about a baker who got cheated on by her fiancé and then was trying to get revenge by pretend dating his younger brother, but they ended up falling in love instead.

2. is A hundred year inheritance or A hundred year legacy. It's a drama in 2013 and has Eugene as the main female lead. I think it was on Netflix but i don't know if it's there anymore. This is a typical makjang drama if you watch it don't expect anything more.

Definitely agree that it does reminds me of "A hundred Year Inheritance" and I do not recommend this drama. I really hate it and I regret wasting all of my time to finish it. I remember the endless frustrating my sister and I get every time we watch each episode.

I do think it's 'A Hundred Year of Inheritence' as well. I wanted to watch it for Lee Jung Jin, but couldnt really get through the drama. Too 'makjang' for me (and long-running as well)

Didn't Eugene keep calling her ex-husband a "mama boy loser" or something like that? She said it so seriously, I couldn't help but crack up.

Yes, I agree... I think #2 could be Hundred Year Legacy

Yup, it definitely sounds like A Hundred Year Inheritance. It's typical makjang. I wasted so many hours on this, LOL (although I never did finish it). It's full of extremely annoying characters that just piss you off but I couldn't help but watch more episodes to see what would happen next. Ugh.

Well Eugene is, of course, the makjang queen. Undeniably so.

Number 5 is a story from Strong Heart episode. I don't remember the actor's name, but I'm pretty sure he acted in Tamra Island.

I miss that show. It always made me laugh. At least, when Seung Gi was the host it did.

Also Lee Seung Gi and Yoona together being impossibly cute.

I feel like all the variety shows around 2010 and that era were the best. Variety show quality has slowly gone down. I feel like there are only a few that I really enjoy anymore.

Man, every time I know one someone else already says it! But I definitely agree that number 2 is "Hundred Year Inheritance." The first and only weekend drama I've watched, and it just got more makjang as the weeks went on. Can't believe I survived all 50 episodes!

This is so crazy!
I actually just started watching 100 year inheritance and I really thought it was heading toward her getting out of that insanity but it's getting worse? Damn!

I'm going to fast-forward or just quit.

#2 A Hundred Year Inheritance with Eugene
#4 Love Keeps Going with Mike He
#5 is not a drama or movie. Its a story told by Hwang Chan-bin, Pierre Deporte, a french model/ actor. He told that story on an episode of Strong Heart. His father remarried a Korean woman when he was young. She raised him and that was one of the memories he told of his upbringing.

I'm pretty sure no 2. is 100 Years Inheritance. The drama plot is still fresh in my mind because recently I binge watch the series...

I feel like I know #1.. It's fairly recent but I just can't remember it. This is so frustrating lol

#4 is Love Keeps Going. I remember this drama for one particular scene where Mike buys Cindy every selection from the cafe menu so she could know what she likes (since she was always went with what others' liked). That's my secret wish but it's so wasteful lol

I thought no.2 is royal family too, it had something along that line but since i didnt watch 100years inheritance, I am giving it the benefit of doubt

Number one is "The King 2 Hearts", I'm pretty sure. Lee Yoonji plays the spirited youngest princess who likes Jo Jungseok's character, the security officer and right hand man of the king. The legendary earnest-bot who is a goody-two-shoes and uptight to a 답답한 "dab dab han" level.

I really did enjoy a lot of that show.
Unfortunately it put me off of ha ji won. She's a great actress but I think she needs expand her range of characters.
It's strange but some actors I enjoy seeing them playing the same kind of role over and over, but not others.

#2 That's how far I got in the drama too. I'd figured if this nonsense happens so early on then what else was in store for us? Not much that's good judging from beanies who did finish it (bless you all).
