Action thriller Fifth Column adds Jung Woo and Ryu Seung-ryong

Action thriller Fifth Column lost Kang Dong-won, but is possibly on the verge of gaining Jung Woo (Himalayas), which is not at all a bad alternative. Chungmuro veteran Ryu Seung-ryong (Dorihwaga) has also joined the cast of this much-anticipated movie. Song Kang-ho (The Throne) will be headlining as the main character, an internal affairs investigator in the army that has decided to pursue one last case before his discharge.

The title Fifth Column refers to an organization within an organization which seeks to destroy the larger organization from within. A good example would be Hydra from the Avengers movies, which was the secret criminal organization that infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D to undermine its greater purpose of helping humanity.

Similarly in Fifth Column, once Song Kang-ho starts digging into his case, he’ll discover layers that suggest the existence of a shadow group that has gained power in the top ranks of the army. Jung Woo has been offered the role of Song Kang-ho’s sidekick, who helps him get to the bottom of the conspiracy, and Ryu Seung-ryong will be playing the powerful antagonist who blocks Song Kang-ho at every turn.

Directed by Won Shin-yeon who made The Fugitive a success, Fifth Column will start production in the latter half of this year.

ugh that mention of SHIELD and Hydra reminded me just how good Winter Soldier was.

Ryu Seung-ryong makes a really effective antagonist - loved him in War of the Arrows (still the superior Kim Han-min film).

I agree. Roaring Currents may be the top grossing movie of all time but War of the Arrows is still his best work.

Jung Woo is on a roll seriously , even tho I miss him like crazy on dramaland I think he did a great decision to stay in Chungmuro , he has come a long way.

When ppl talk about the careers of Reply saga stars I always facepalm when ppl tend to put Jung Woo in the fail category bcos he doesn't do dramas anymore .... lol he's headlining movies with Song Kang Ho and Ryu Seung Ryong now , he's prioritizing quality over quantity, guy has so much respect for his career ... can't wait for Retrial and this movie <3

it bothers me when ppl who doesn't know a thing about Chungmuro misinform others , that's all .

At this point I think he's the Reply alumni with the best and most succesful career post Reply saga .... he's doing wonderfully in dramas and even in variety shows.

Cannot wait till his debut behind the camera, fans know he's been preparing for that , he really wants to direct movies and make more scripts :D such a bright future ahead of this man

not saying he's going to direct something soon, he said in interviews that one of the dreams he wants to achieve is to make movies , he wants to write and direct

He graduated in journalism and communication with a master's degree in cultural contents studies and he worked in the script of his 2009 movie Baram ... he has been giving hints that he has something on mind but nothing is decided so we don't know how long it will take ... but I'm sure he'll do it no matter how long it takes
