Shopping King Louis: Episode 6

This hour is action-packed, with scheming directors, conniving bosses, and Louis being the very funniest Louis he can be. There may always be people scurrying to either expose him or hide him, but a true threat begins to loom — something capable of taking away everything Louis holds dear… in other words, Bok-shil.

EPISODE 6: “I Was Born to Love You”

Bok-shil asks her coworkers for directions to the movie theater after work, which catches Ma-ri’s attention. She wonders who Bok-shil is going to the movies with, especially since Joong-won has already left for the day.

She’s so curious that she heads to the movie theater herself, and nearly hits a pedestrian on the way. OMG it’s Louis, and he falls, hitting his head on the pavement and knocking himself out. Ma-ri gets out of the car, where she sees Louis sprawled on the ground. She leans close, inspecting his face, and she jumps up and screams when he wakes.

Ohthankgoodness, Louis is perfectly fine, and he looks at Ma-ri with no trace of recognition whatsoever. He’s much more concerned that his rose for Bok-shil was crushed by an onlooker’s shoe, and he asks Ma-ri for the money to replace it.

Ma-ri finds her voice and asks if Louis knows her, and he scares her when he says he does. But he just means she’s the person who scared him and ruined his flower, and demands the money, whining that he had to do the dishes six times to earn enough for the rose.

Ma-ri hands over the cash, but a hand snatches it away… it’s In-sung’s mom, and she yells at Ma-ri for only giving Louis a few bucks. She orders Louis to lay back down so they can mark the pavement with chalk, HA, and continues haranguing Ma-ri, who can only gape like a fish. A very confused fish.

In-sung’s mom goes on and on about how simple-minded Louis is (he objects, but obeys when she yells at him to lie back down, hee), so Ma-ri hands over some cash just to make this go away. In-sung’s mom splits the money with Louis, and he says that he thinks he used to be the kind of person who carried around a lot of cash like that.

Louis finally makes it to the movie theater, where Bok-shil is waiting impatiently. He gives her the rose petals he salvaged (okay, awww), as proud as if he’d presented her with the perfect rose, and tells her that it got wrecked in an accident.

He says he’s fine and shows her the money he got, but she drags him to the hospital against his protests. Louis checks out fine, but the doctor tells Bok-shil that his memory may never return. Back home Louis flops down in his soul chair, upset that they spent his money at the hospital for nothing. He complains that it feels just like when he got scammed, ha.

He gets a call from Ma-ri, who says she’s worried about him and asks to see him tomorrow. Louis asks if she likes him or if she misses him, and tells her that she can like him but he doesn’t like her back. His response is eerily similar to what he used to tell Ma-ri when she would call him to say hello, and it shakes her to the core.

She confesses to her dad, Director Baek, and she’s shocked again to learn that he already knows Louis is alive. He says not to do anything, because this could be his chance to finally take control of Gold Group, which would mean she’d eventually inherit it.

Butler Kim shows Grandma the posts on the Gold Group website by “Shopping King Louis,” and points out that the bad spelling is a clue that it could be their Louis. Grandma takes offense, but she agrees to look into it, in case of the slightest possibility Louis is alive.

Her assistant Jung-ran eavesdrops on their conversation, and when Butler Kim leaves the room, he runs right into her. It knocks her over, but he deftly sweeps her up in his arms, making her see him in a new, romantic light. She overreacts and he cringes, thinking she’s going to hit him, and she yells again that she doesn’t hit people. Anymore.

Scarface reports to Director Kim that Bok-shil and Louis’s apartment is creepy, with a tendency for its occupants to be brutally murdered. It happens so often that the police think it’s a serial murder case. As he talks, we see a shadowy figure watching the apartment holding a dangerous-looking hammer.

Louis waits impatiently for Bok-shil to make lunch, since she has to use In-sung’s refrigerator. She tells Louis that she’s always wanted a fridge, and he nods, agreeing that her wish will come true one day. She takes one bite before realizing she’s late to work, and she rushes off, leaving Louis his payment for doing the dishes.

Bok-shil’s detective friend Joo-hyuk looks over Louis’s notes, things he says seem familiar to him. His coworker looks at the notes, finding them funny, but something catches his eye.

Ma-ri’s mom Jae-sook takes Joong-won’s mom Young-ae for tea at the bookstore she rents, “Hong Franc.” Young-ae is impressed, though she notices that there haven’t been any customers. Jae-sook winks, saying that the store’s success is a secret.

“Shopping King Louis” has become a bit of an internet sensation, with people messaging him constantly for advice on what to buy. His shopping skills aren’t all reliant on his instinct, as he seems to know a lot about many different products — and interestingly, he mentions the bookstore Hong Franc to one shopper.

Unfortunately, his opinion on Gold Group’s new brand, Giovanni, is that it’s a fraud. His word carries enough clout by now that this seriously affects sales, and Joong-won orders Mr. Kim to find out exactly who Shopping King Louis is.

Butler Kim’s source tells him it’s Bok-shil, since Louis’s phone is in her name. He reads where Louis posts that his favorite coffee is the cheap instant stuff, and sighs that it can’t be his Louis.

Mr. Kim brings the information that Shopping King Louis is Bok-shil to Joong-won, though he’s not convinced it’s really her. For one thing she can spell, and for another, the posts happen at times when it’s unlikely to be her. Joong-won connects the dots to Louis.

He goes to confront Louis at home, and says he already knows someone who goes by that nickname. He threatens to make Louis stop using it, telling Louis that his posts could get Bok-shil fired. Louis asks what he can do to save Bok-shil’s job, and Joong-won says he’ll protect her under one condition — that Louis moves into his place. Louis doesn’t want to live apart from Bok-shil, but he makes his own demand, that Joong-won buy her the latest fridge and washing machine.

Louis writes out a contract stating that he won’t use the username “Shopping King Louis” anymore, and that Joong-won will buy Bok-shil a fridge and washer. They both sign it, though Joong-won snaps at Louis to learn how to spell.

Louis cops an attitude about moving to Joong-won’s place, but he packs up and goes. From a distance Scarface sees them leave together with Louis’s things, and assumes Joong-won is helping Louis hide out. I just love how the bad guys have everything all wrong.

Louis settles into Joong-won’s place as if he owns it, helping himself to the remotes and the espresso maker while Joong-won gapes at him. Louis comments that this all feels familiar and asks Joong-won to run him a bubble bath, instinctively treating him like a butler.

Joong-won yells that this is his house and Louis is just a mooch, like he mooches off Bok-shil. Louis scoffs, correcting Joong-won that he’s someone who’s always on Bok-shil’s side, and asks where his room is. Joong-won points it out and adds that he’s to keep everything neat and clean. Oh, this is gonna be fun.

Detective Joo-hyuk’s colleague had remembered seeing Louis’s penguin music box in a bookstore called Hong Franc, and Joo-hyuk heads over to investigate. Strangely, the store is closed in the middle of the day, and Joo-hyuk notices a fire hydrant nearby which is also on Louis’s “familiar things” list.

Louis surprises Bok-shil by taking her to a movie after work, to make up for the one he missed. But the show they end up in is super violent and freaks them both out, so they leave halfway through. They head to a street cart for some food, and Louis complains about all the food on offer, embarrassing Bok-shil. She casually asks if he’s Shopping King Louis, expecting him to say no, and Louis tells her that he died today. PFFT.

Bok-shil calls Joong-won for confirmation, and he asks if she’s with Louis right now. He orders her to go home immediately, and she cringes and hangs up.

Louis and Bok-shil check out some street vendors (Louis manages to offend another one by calling her jewelry fake), ending up by the river. Louis says he can’t get Bok-shil a fake ring, and when she says they aren’t married, he counters that she could still wear a ring.

Louis grows serious, saying that he knows it’s hard taking care of him, and he tells Bok-shil that he moved to Joong-won’s place today. She’s unhappy to hear it, especially since he didn’t talk to her first, and she pouts and says she won’t miss him anyway. But she asks him to stay in touch until she finds her brother, and Louis promises.

They watch the ferry go by, and Louis says they’ll do that on their next date. Bok-shil is all, date?, and Louis sighs that this was a date. He tells her to watch some TV every now and then, hee.

Bok-shil goes home alone, and gives Louis’s soul chair a grumpy little kick. She goes inside to find a huge fridge and matching washer. In-sung comes up to say hello, and explains that Louis moved in with Joong-won in exchange for the appliances.

Joong-won tells Louis not to watch TV when he’s home — he hates the noise — and Louis quickly orders the skincare products on TV for Bok-shil. He explains that he buys things for Bok-shil with her money, which frustrates Joong-won.

He asks if Louis really doesn’t remember anything, and Louis confirms that he only recalls bits and pieces. He makes Joong-won bring him a pillow, then says he needs curtains and more coffee, until Joong-won explodes.

Joong-won goes to his room to brood alone, but he cheers up when Bok-shil texts to thank him for the fridge and washer. She asks him to take good care of Louis even though he can be annoying, and Joong-won smiles when she sends a little “goodnight” emoji.

Bok-shil and Louis are thinking of each other on their first night apart, and text each other at the exact same time. Bok-shil jokes that she’s glad he’s gone, and asks him to behave himself after all Joong-won has done for them. Louis pouts that she just wants to talk about Joong-won, so she sends him a text saying, “I miss you.”

That makes Louis’s entire night, and he has a full-body freakout from happiness. He texts back that he misses her too, which thrills Bok-shil equally as much. They go to bed as giggly as children.

Louis treats himself to a bubblebath after Joong-won leaves for work, then he sneaks into Joong-won’s room to check it out (still wearing only a towel, rawr). He flops on Joong-won’s bed, rolling around on the luxurious sheets like a blissed-out cat.

Joong-won’s parents let themselves in, and Young-ae senses something different. Expecting to see a lady in his room, she sneaks in, then lets out a bloodcurdling scream when she sees Louis on the bed instead, bare-assed nekkid. HAHA.

Louis dresses and tells Joong-won’s parents that he lives here now. He says mischievously that Joong-won begged him to move in, and that he thinks Joong-won has a crush on him. He knows exactly how that sounds, and delights in the parents’ horrified reaction.

Young-ae cries her heart out to her husband, remembering the shaman they consulted who said that he saw a woman and a man in Joong-won’s future. Young-ae wails, thinking this means her son is gay, but Joong-won’s dad reminds her that he saw a woman, too.

Joong-won reports to Director Baek that the Shopping King Louis issue has been handled, and tells his boss that Bok-shil wasn’t really involved — someone stole her username. It’s technically the truth, but Director Baek senses that Joong-won is hiding something, though Joong-won says he’s not.

Louis and In-sung pass out more flyers looking for Bok-nam, and In-sung wonders if Bok-nam might be dead. Louis tells him not to say such things, and they post a picture of Bok-nam online, hoping to reach more people who may have seen him.

Louis takes In-sung to Joong-won’s place and offers to feed him, and soon the two are snacking amid a huge mess. In-sung offers to make ramyun, and when Joong-won comes home, he walks into a pigsty. His bellow of rage wakes Louis into he kicking a bag of chips onto the floor, and startles In-sung so much that he spills the ramyun seasonings all over the kitchen, then knocks an entire crate of eggs off the counter. Whoops.

Joong-won sets In-sung and Louis to cleaning their mess, while he questions them about the “company” they started. He calls it what it is, Bok-shil supporting them, and In-sung is so terrified that he blurts out that Louis lost all the money Joong-won paid Bok-shil for the ginseng.

Joong-won finds Louis a real job unloading freight for Gold Group, and Louis is hilariously weak and terrible at it. He’s so sore he can barely move by the end of the day, and Joong-won has to put pain patches on for him. He gets revenge by slapping them on hard, and by the time he’s done, Louis is covered head to toe in patches. But Joong-won does admit to himself that Louis worked hard today.

Louis still can’t move the next day, and whines for Joong-won to call Bok-shil to take care of him. Joong-won refuses, and forbids Louis to call her himself, ordering him not to worry her. So he calls In-sung, who rushes over, narrowly missing the shadowy figure lurking outside his home.

In-sung tells Louis that he saw something weird on his way here, and it gave him a bad feeling. He confesses to Louis about the murders that happened in their rooftop room, and that the killer hasn’t been caught yet. Louis freaks out and jumps up despite his sore muscles, determined to go save Bok-shil.

He runs all the way home to Bok-shil, ignoring the strange looks he gets for the fact that he’s still shirtless and covered in pain patches. He nearly cries with relief when she waves down at him from the balcony, and runs upstairs to grab her in a big hug.

She tries to pull away when she smells the patches, but Louis just hugs her tighter, saying he was so worried, he forgot to put on a shirt. She gasps when she sees him and jokingly pokes his sore muscles, while their shadowy stalker watches from a distance.

Louis has no intention of going back to Joong-won’s, and he left a note offering to return the fridge and washer. Joong-won grumbles, wondering where Bok-shil picked up this guy.

Bok-shil grabs Louis a shirt from the fridge, which she’s using as a storage cabinet, lol. She thinks the room seems too small for two people now, but Louis just smirks behind her back, not at all upset with the idea of being even closer to her.

They’re more cramped that night as they lie in bed, and Bok-shil scoots over when Louis’s hand creeps to her side of the curtain. She asks why he came back without warning, and Louis pokes his head through the curtain to say that he heard the room is dangerous.

He tells her that the previous tenant died there. But he smiles and promises to keep her safe, and she pats his head, which just hurts his neck. He tells Bok-shil that he ordered some safety equipment, but refuses to say what it is. When Louis nods off, Bok-shil slides the curtain back, and watches him sleep.

Jae-sook brings Ma-ri some warm milk to help her sleep, and though Ma-ri desperately wants to tell her mother about seeing Louis, she remembers her father’s warning and keeps her mouth shut. After her mother leaves, she wonders who died in the crash, wearing Louis’s watch.

That night, while they have snacks at a convenience store, the three schoolgirls that beat up Louis and Bok-shil see a poster of Bok-nam. They definitely know him, and wonder if his family is looking for him.

Bok-shil has to pull Louis’s pain patches off the next morning, while he screams bloody murder. She gets a call, and she and Louis run off to investigate. Louis lurches behind her, too stiff and sore to keep up, ha.

The call was from the schoolgirls, but when they see Bok-shil and Louis coming, they try to run. Bok-shil isn’t called the Flying Squirrel for nothing, and she quickly corrals two of them. The third runs into Louis and they both tumble to the ground, and he grabs her sleeve triumphantly.

They sit the girls down, and tell them that Bok-shil is Bok-nam’s sister. The girls reveal that they used to ride motorcycles with Bok-nam, and that the jacket Louis was wearing when they beat him up was Bok-nam’s. They refuse to tell Bok-shil any more without a reward, but Bok-shil doesn’t have any money to give them, so they leave.

Bok-shil helps the stiff Louis home, and he pouts that they would have had the money to pay the girls if he hadn’t needed to go to the hospital. Bok-shil stays positive and says they’ll just find the money somehow.

Eaten up by curiosity, Ma-ri slinks around their apartment, and hides when she sees Bok-shil and Louis coming. She’s been assuming Bok-shil skipped work to be with her boyfriend, and her eyes go wide as she sees that the “boyfriend” is Louis. She snaps a couple of pictures, then calls Bok-shil to meet.

Bok-shil tells Ma-ri how she found Louis wearing her brother’s jacket, and Ma-ri comes to the obvious conclusion that it’s Bok-nam who died in that crash. Bok-shil tells her that she can find out where her brother is if she has some money to pay the girls, and though Ma-ri thinks it’s a scam, she lends Bok-shil the money the girls want.

Louis stays home while Bok-shil calls the girls, who direct her to a pool hall where Bok-nam supposedly spends a lot of time. But she’s told that Bok-nam stopped going there a while ago — it’s a dead end. Meanwhile, Ma-ri runs home to tell her father that she knows who died in the car crash.

The shadowy figure sneaks into Bok-shil and Louis’s apartment, brandishing his trademark hammer. He sees a man crouched inside and brings the hammer down on his head hard enough to crack it open, then leaves the man bleeding on the floor.

In-sung goes upstairs to see Louis, and he falls in shock when he sees the body lying on the floor, blood everywhere. He softly calls Louis’s name, and when he sees the man’s face, he jerks back in horror.

Bok-shil comes home to find police everywhere, and the neighbors gossiping that someone else was killed in the rooftop apartment. She sees a body being loaded into an ambulance and jumps in, assuming it’s Louis.

COMMENTS

First of all, I’m so happy Louis didn’t get his memory back from that knock on the head! The plot moves so quickly, it’s easy to forget that we’re only six episodes in, and it really does seem way too soon. There’s too much humor and too many sweet Bok-shil/Louis moments to be mined yet, and I want to wait until the last possible second before Louis remembers who he is and we face their inevitable separation as Louis goes back to his world. I’m not worried that he’ll forget Bok-shil or stop caring about her (after all, he was enchanted with her at first sight, when he first saw her on TV before his accident), it’s just that they’re so cute together, I’m not ready for him to go back to his old life quite yet.

I haven’t really loved Joong-won as a character so far — he seems like a wasted opportunity for fun hi-jinks and instead is just a stodgy old fart, and in this episode he particularly annoyed me. I didn’t care for him basically using Bok-shil to manipulate Louis, because if he were a nice guy who really liked her, he’d protect her job no matter what. So he’s either not a nice guy who would let her get fired, or he’d protect her anyway but he’s letting Louis think he wouldn’t just to get him away from her. Either way makes him look bad, on top of the fact that I’m inclined to dislike anyone who gets in between the two cutest kittens ever. I’m glad Louis eventually made his way back to Bok-shil, Joong-won be damned, because if there’s one thing Louis knows, it’s where he belongs.

At least Joong-won doesn’t seem to actually intend to purse Bok-shil, despite liking her. It’s unclear if he knows what his feelings mean, or if he just plans to ignore them, but again, either way it looks bad. If he doesn’t mean to actively court Bok-shil then he needs to back off and let her live her life the way she wants, but if he’s interested, he needs to declare his intentions and again, let her make her own decisions. It’s frustrating watching him act like the jealous suitor, while keeping his feelings entirely hidden from everyone.

I think I finally figured out why the family/Gold Group politics don’t annoy me like they usually do in rom-coms, where they always feel out of place and usually bring the fun comedy down. It’s because the supposed bad guys here are just so dumb, and it’s infinitely amusing the way Scarface and Director Baek consistently misinterpret Louis’s and Joong-won’s actions to be all sneaky, when they’re actually just moving through the usual rom-com tropes. It’s pretty hilarious to see Joong-won trading a fridge for Bok-shil in a typical rom-com overreaction, then see Scarface watching them, all sinister and getting the totally wrong idea. I even find Ma-ri more comical than worrisome, at this point. It’s like Scarface and Director Baek are in a totally different drama than everyone else, and I find it really funny. They think everything is a sign of some giant conspiracy, and it’s played more for dark humor than anything else, which just makes them silly instead of truly scary.

The real threat seems to be the serial killer, but up until the last couple of minutes of the episode, he seemed more of a distant threat than a real problem. But now he’s stepped up, and I wonder if he’s got any connections with the larger plot, or if he’s just a random murderer and Louis (or someone I really hope isn’t Louis!) was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The murders have been happening for much longer than Louis’s problems, so rather than feel real fear about the killer, I’m really just more vaguely curious to see what that’s all about. Again, the threats to Louis and Bok-shil don’t feel like they have real teeth, but I’m okay with that because really, aren’t we all really just here for the bouncy kittens?

the AsianWiki lists ep 6 as 8,8% which would pass On The Way To the Airport, too. todays´ ratings aren´t up there, yet, but a few people on twitter are sayin 10 (which I shared, being impatient), I hope it is true! I would be really happy... and I sound like I am rapping

.. and the panda and turtle. I follow him on IG too LOL

I'm almost sure he wasn't expecting that jump either, knowing what dramas they're up against. I'm so excited to watch episode 7!

it was a koala, not a turtle, but who the heck cares, they are all puppies! the cat is a puppy, who drank whiskey, and the turtle is a flying squirrel, and I might have lost it now.

0

I meant a koala not a panda. I have really gone nuts. *checks to see if at least she herself is still a fox and not a turtle* I am not. Or...I am, I mean. I don´t know anymore.

0

@redfox ahaha yes in my SIG induced mind I typed panda instead of koala :D

0

...a cat and a turtle and a koala and... hahahaha. He is just crazy

0

This means we'll get to see SIG as a Shiba Inu!!!
(It was his ratings promise if the show exceeds 10% during the press con).

I don't even think there's a need for him to dress up. He already looks like a puppy without the costume. But then again if I see him in the actual costume I might overdose from the cuteness!

There is no such thing as overdosing on our cute shirtless puppy!!! Fight through it! We can make it out alive together!!

But forreals.... I've been giggling and smiling and chanting "puppy, puppy, puppy" in scene that SIG has a pouty face or a smirk, or a smile... or just does anything.... so basically the two hours on this drama is filled with me being a crazy person.... sighsss more than dying of overdose I think I'm going to be labeled as a crazy lady that died after this drama ends.....

I'm really, really enjoying this drama. I don't know if it's just me reading more into the writing/acting/directing, but it seems like they are all poking fun at the crazy drama tropes, but still has the developing romance (and the bromances) with a lot of heart too. A tough thing to balance, and I hope that it continues through the whole series! Also, seriously Seo In-Gook is one versatile actor, he was totally believable as a conman in 38, and he is knocking it out of the park as Louis. My favorite scene this episode is when he acts just like a puppy in disgrace who's owner came home to a mess. I was surprised Joong-won didn't go after him with a rolled up newspaper.

you mean, when he hid behind the kitchen counter? hhaha that was so... he must have actually observed animals, maybe Mari and me was a good practice. it reminds me how the acting freshmen in Estonia have their first assignment in the zoo and have to pick an animal to go around imitating for a whole week (at least they did so like 6 years ago, dunno if they still do it).

I'm actually always saving the new episode for my laugh out loud moment of the night. The show just makes me so happy! I love the fact that the baddies are so bad at their job and seem to be related to the baddies of Home Alone. All of em are pretty clueless.

2. Pulling the covers over his head in sheer excitement.

I'll add a few more to that list (the list would be way too long if I wrote down everything so I'll restrain myself)

-when Louis placed the flower petals in Bok Shil's hand and then tried to run away when she wanted to take him to the hospital.

-Louis freaking out at the scary movie in the theater. "He just smiled". Bok Shil was adorable too.

-I don't know if anyone noticed but after Louis wrote down the horrible spelled contract with Joong Won, he switched hands and signed his name with his left hand. Kind of random but it was cute to me.

-The face Louis made when he released there was less space in the rooftop room and he could be closer to Bok Shil.

Ahh my puppy! Don't forget the scene where he was waiting for Bok Shil so they could eat breakfast together. He had the ears and tail and everything, the sound effects were right on point too!

So it takes me 2 hours to watch a one hour episode because everytime Louis appear on my screen i tend to fangirl and keep replaying the same scene again and again. Seo in guk what are you doing to me? He has to be the cutest character ever written in the history of korean dramas and Seo in guk just plays it so brilliantly! Like please somebody needs to tell me i am not the only one obssessing over him coz i find any kind of obsession quite a harmful nature in general. Also i crack up every time grandma refers to him as "my precious" because its so cute and adorable and ridiculous all at the same time. It has already become such two meaningful words for me that i might never hear it or use it without thinking abot this drama ever again. This drama should be renamed as #LouisMyPrecious

geez, I love these two!!! SKL is (especially lately) such a perfect thing to give me a lift after all that moonday angst. I watched this episode at 2 am with a scarf over my mouth in order not to laugh out loud (I want to be on good terms with my neighbours).

I also actually stayed up quite late last night, having marathoned MDBC 15-16 and crying, then deciding to watch this episode of SKL to wash out all the feels. And now I'm tired and sleep but have no regrets!

I love that they're going thru their feelings for each other without pretense. That whole I Miss You text back and forth was so awww inducing and adorkable!

Ep.6 is FREAKING HILARIOUS!

Sooo many super sweet moments between Louis and Bok Sil. At this point, my anticipation just keep growing and growing.

That flower petals, ohhh it just the sweetest thing, I thought he forgot that. Simplicity and sincerity are truly what make everything Louis done for Bok Sil feels so pure and endearing. It tugs your heart gently and leave deep impression that it lingers in your heart for a long time.

And that naked scene. OH MY OH MY, I literally slipped down from my chair to join my jaw on the floor, lol. RIP is my reply and pause buttons. Gukkie's expression tho, full of satisfaction and joy, ugh, I lost my focus there and needed a long... pause.

Seriously, I had to watch the naked butt scene twice because I couldn't believe my eyes! She actually saw it, right?! I was screaming with laughter.

And did Louie know what he was implying when he told the Director's mom that the Director has fallen for him? He had this sly grin on his face. Poor mom was about to faint from shock. And when her husband reassured her that the Shaman said 'man and woman', I couldn't help thinking that it sounds like a ménage, lol.

On another note, Kdramas are really incorporating nudity in their dramas these days. Wonder if censorship will relax on this one? I just read about the whole hue and cry with the Korean Censorship board due to the bath fight scene in K2, and the forced kissing scene in Our Gap Soon.

And all hail the puppies! There can never be enough cuteness from these two. ?

I also have to admit that Joong-won continues to get on my nerves (and it doesn't get better with ep.7, sigh, I doubt I'll ever warm up to him but at least I absolutely adore his parents lol)

GAHHHH my heart...thankfully I can trust this drama's writer enough to believe that SIG won't be dying anytime soon but the conclusion of each episode is always the same... SIG is the perfect puppy! The bromance between Louis and Joongwon is a plus too ;)

One thing I really appreciate about this drama is that the characters and the storyline are in that thin line between realistic and drama tropey... for instance we all feared the truck/car of doom of last episode's ending but it's used well as a continuation of the story and we got an "aw" moment with the broken flower petals instead. Also, In-sung's mom is soft-hearted towards the Louis-Bokshil couple but never really throws away her love for money. She takes the largest ~$2000 note (and gives Louis the leftover dollar bills) from Mari's compensation for "hitting" Louis. I should be angry at that but the fact that she "saves" Louis and is quite realistic in portraying some of the greedy ajummas I know that would take advantage of the situation and get some money out of her heroic gesture.

The BokShil-Louis moments in this episode were so precious too. The texting scene, date scene, and Louis' return to the apartment were just love hehe. I love how Louis says BokShil deserves a real ring on her finger and he's so forward without being overbearing with his feelings toward her it's so lovable

BTW we cannot overlook that the "safety equipment" Louis decided to buy was a lightsaber!!!! LOL

Actually Louis got 2 mil won notes plus 3,000 won from Mari and ahjuma only took 1 mil and gave him the rest. OMG I EFFING LOVE THIS DRAMA!!!!!

If only I could keep Boksil and Louis in my pocket forever. Jo In Sung can tag along as well. ^^ How come SIG dramas don't disappoint me? It's insane. I don't want to hope, but I am really hoping this drama stays this way for at least a few more episodes. SOOOO cute. <3<3<3

And Director Cha is fun. His lack of self-awareness on his feelings kinda reminds me of Hwang tae Kyung from you're beautiful. Poor guy having to put up with Louis. Hahaha.

Night texting time is the cutest. <33333 Kyahhhhhhh. Also, using the expensive fridge as a dresser. lmao. And louis might give puppies a run for cuteness but he's still a wolf at heart. His smile thinking about tight sleeping space. Lol. And this drama is bipolar. First, the feminine bubble bath.... and then the shirtless scene with abs? Make up ur mind!!! Is Louis cute or hot? Hahaha. Must be good to have genetics like those. Having abs without needing to exert oneself. Anw, I'm getting a kick out of the fact that SIG is getting called handsome all the time in the drama. Louis and his narcissism tendencies to think pple just like him, from Mari to Oska. Cracks me up. Poor Oska's mother.

And I'm going to wear those patches rolling around from now on. :D

And Jo In Sung's mother (I get a kick when I write his name out. Works 100% of the time) telling Louis to lie down. LOL

Also, are the staff a fan of jdorama Pride? that scene with Queen's I was born to love you with Louis running gave me strong Pride vibe. Which is a good thing since it's my fav j-romance of all time. or maybe it's just the music. <3

And uh huh... I'm just going to pretend I haven't seen that ending. I'll wait until next episode because it's not good for the heart to think about it.

?????????

I'm confused? How is that comment belittling? or pett or infantile?

I don't know about the person commenting on kkuljaem since I can't speak for him, but for me, it's just an observation, like how Oska reminds me of Hwang tae Kyung, or how Lee Sun Bin reminds me of Park han byul, and NJH reminding me of Kang Ha Neul. Why should something like that offend? I found the observation interesting and astute so I shared it. Louis is just like Sungjae, and it's even more hilarious that SIG looks like Sungjae.

Also, entirely irrelevant to the point but I'm not a Sungjae fan. I'm afraid I would be labelled pedophile if I was. I'm more of a fan of DBSK and Super Junior. Well, I'm more of a drama fan than kpop fan now, but I used to like DBSK a lot.

if I read too much into it, then it is the wording: "JUST a sungjae lookalike" . and I would say this if it was about any other person not just SIG. how is anyone JUST someone elses´lookalike, especially when they are that versatile though? I just dont see with what purpose is it always brought up? if you compare someone, please do, it is fine, but the tone of such comments is weird. again, this is not just about one actor, but if it were someone else, too.

0

It's more like Sungjae looks like SIG. SIG is the original since he is older and been in the business longer. I think that is the part that annoys people.

0

I agree w/ redfox the wording is weird. As someone who is still not fluent in English, I can understand that the one who wrote the comment didn't mean malice when writing it in the tone of it. I think that person meant "just" as in "just like." Him/her confused "while seo in guk looks just like sungjae" to "while seo in guk is just sungjae look a like"
I might be 100% wrong on this or projecting because I get wordings confused too. English is so different from what I'm used to in life. pffft.

0

Personally, I agree that Sungjae should be compared to Gukkie, not vice-versa. However in this case, I don't think it's intentional. I think it just happened in that order because of the sentence structure. Both parts ends with Gukkie's name. Parralellism or whatnot on instinct. Booyah. I'm no grammar buff obviously.

0

@Regina I totally understand what you mean as Louis does remind me of taekwang from school 2015...It's just because of his crazy antics maybe that the commenter thought this way. And coincidentally sungjae was offered this drama...and I keep thinking from time to time how he would look in this role haha.
Anyway I typed until the above passage and then went through the rest of the comment section. Mm I kind of felt the comment from another site..it came off as an innocent one? Obviously from the sentence pattern it looks like the writer used her words to express similarity between the both mentioned actors and people assumed the worst meaning, sort of.
Also I am a bit sad that it's taken in such a heavy manner . First of all I like both the actors. I feel there wasn't any call to belittle any one or their fans here ...but the way people have been 'tagging' themselves as fans and bringing this unnecessary friction is upsetting. Even if they look alike what's the harm in that? I have not read the previous week comments so I may have lost something there. But surely the comment section here is better than the fan wars that was portrayed in dramas like reply 1997.
So Regina kindly don't say sorry. Our love for dramas are great but it stoops to a
low when we make a big fuss about every little thing. I love both the actors and I don't get why we have to pick a side or take resort to these kind of sentiments. And isn't SIG in his own league by now for his acting excellence? I am a bit under water to figure out how saying them resembling each other is creating so much disputes. Anyhow, peace out.

0

@Sky I also went to the original comment on kkuljaem to see the context. Everybody took it lightly, so I don't understand the reaction on here. Seems like I'm missing something.
Haven't watched School 2015, but I've seen Sungjae in Plus nine and in variety shows here and there occasionally and his aegyo reminds me a lot of Louis too.
the only good thing out of this fanwar is that I discovered a new translating site. I'm having a headache reading through this much fighting.

0

I am SIG fan but I really find SIG and SungJae look alike and I dont mind it. Sungjae really gave me a SIG vibes during School 2015. But maybe because both of them are good actors.

0

Sowie to butt in: I'm a Melody - ergo what Sungjae's fan are called fyi - can't help it if my eyes catch up to things related to Sungjae.

@Regina DL I think redfox got oversensitive because in past post the issue was brought up as well - that Sungjae is like Louie - and SIG fans already didn't like it. Understandable that your comment acted as trigger from previous experience: don't be too confused & don't think badly of it. It's neither redfox's fault or yours.
I want this comment section to be a happy place like Bok-shil and Louie. Don't fight back. Just let it be.

wat Lillie loves Stephane said. i'm a sig fan so I can explain what redfox means. was here since episode 1 & saw everything. a small number of SIG fan got offended with people bringing up that louis reminds pple of sungjae bc to sig fans, ur comment means that sig is not a good enough actor. might explain it if u know that sungjae was slotted to act as louis, so comments like urs gets taken as sungjae being rival to sig, which sig fans don't take well. hopes it clears that up for u. i know, i know, ur comment was nothing offensive and didn't state things like that, but u know fans can be super defensive if fans feel their artist is attacked, even if u don't mean to.

anw, ur allowed to make comparisons. just be careful here because it's more sensitive than in other cases.

You know, I actually watched Yook Sun Jae first in Achiara: Village and thought it was the Seo In Gook I'd been hearing about ( hadn't watched him in anything and only saw his picture).
It was after IRY that I got familiar with SIG. I've now seen him in three projects so I'm fairly familiar with him. Though I've only watched YSJ in Achiara so need to see him more. But I don't know why, both SIG and YSJ give me similar vibes.

- to whoever said that SIG is just sungjae look a like -- with all of SIG's accomplishments, shouldn't be sungjae a SIG lookalike and not the other way around? More insulting because the person said that louis is sungjae in real life (i.e., very very rich) and SIG is just (relegated to being!!!) a sungjae lookalike. SIG is way more accomplished inspite of his humble beginnings.

Fellow SIG lovers, guys, don't fall into the trap of creating more negativity than needed.

Let's keep comments with SIG dramas positive.
It's such a shame that Regina's first comment (I like it loads) is getting overshadowed. Shame because it was nice and full of positivit.

We can't stop people from telling Sungjae and Gukkie (also VIXX N) look-alike until the end of time. It's going to happen again and again so let's deal with it graciously. As new people come in, they'll keep making that remark. Chhht. I know because it's been years I've seen it and it's still the same. Old fans might stop but new ones will continue.

It's selfish of me. I know. I just want SIG dramas to be different from other dramas and not have fights all the time in comments.

I love Seo In Guk too so makes me sad to see his name being dragged about into meaningless fights. Just let people compare him to whoever. It's just another form of interest. People don't find it easy to be the bigger person most of the time. You can't stop fans fighting. More difficult than stopping comparisons imo. Look at all of us. There's 60 comments (as of now), and more than 10 of them are about a silly matter that anyone can see was a misunderstanding from the beginning. I blame the poor grammar of that random comment. If one is wired to see an insult, one will see it.

What people don't realize is ignoring something ends up with the better result in this case. In defending Inguk, we've all turned this into a laughingstock to an outsider and nobody gained from it. Sigh.

Oh man. Come one. Seo Inguk fans, we're better than that.
Let's be the bigger man here. Who cares if he's being compared to Sungjae, or who is born before whom or debuted before whom. Let's look at the big picture here for christ's sake.
I've already seen on twitter in the past several weeks people comparing our fandom to will-not-be-named other fandom for being sensitive. And I do NOT want that reputation for us. It tends to stick like glue once we're labelled as crazy defensive.
No one is attacking Seo Inguk and even if they were, we don't need to flare our temper. The best remedy to trolls is ignoring them or showering them w/ love.

Everyone, please don't turn this post into a fight in the name of SIG or Sungjae just because of me.

I will apologize if it will help stop. I love SKL soooooo much, and I'm in tears seeing how the experience is now ruined because of me. I think I will avoid commenting in SKL posts from now on, I don't want to cause more inadvertent accidents.

I'm am very very very sorry.

I will not compare Sungjae to Seo In Guk any longer.
I will not compare Louis to Sungjae.
I acknowledged that Seo In Guk is born before Sungjae, and therefore should not be compared to him.
I acknowledge that Sungjae debuted after Seo In Guk, and it is offensive to imply otherwise in a wrong order.
I am sorry to Sungjae fans/Melody for making other people insult all of you because I wasn't familiar with the situation and still commented.

I just want to clarify that even though the result is disastrous, my intention was pure. I just wanted to share a funny thought I had. When I read the comment on kkuljaem, I had an eureka moment, and wanted to make others experience it too. People didn't interpret it as an insult on the site, so I couldn't tell it was insulting. Like someone said, I interpreted the "just" comment as "just" meaning "coincidence," "just happens."

Again, I am very sorry and will reflect on my recklessness. Please stop fighting and enjoy the rest of the drama. I might see all of you again in another drama in the future if I decide to return to DB one day. Right now, it's too much for my weak heart. Until then, take care.

Very very sorry.

Poor darling sweetie. You must be not used to this kind of heated discussion. I see it all day everyday so I'm used to it, but I can see why they could drive more casual fans away. Hopefully you can understand us. Unfortunately, it's true the most dedicated fans are often also the most sensitive ones, and we see red when we perceive a slight and can go a bit disproportionate in our response. We attack before thinking more deeply simply because we've been attacked too many times before. You know? Like once you're used to attacks, you see them everywhere, right?

SIG and DB have much more to gain from redfox than they have from regina.

@Williams you're wrong when you said nobody gained from it. thx 2 redfox intervention, we've got a hard-earned apology for SIG and us fans. we can't just stay silent. SIG deserves better than be compared to a rookie actor with barely any credit to his name, and an idol to top it. defending what u think is right is worth fighting. if it takes a few direct no-nonsense words to have it so be it. not our fault some people are so easily hurt and sensitive.

I'm glad you saw how wrong your were and thank you for apologizing. I'll accept it and end things here.

@AWwww. As SIG fans, we have the right to feel offended if her comment was thoughtless. It's apparent she was at fault, we set her straight and she acknowledged it. It's not sensitive of us, just because we attacked her. If she annoyed us, we have the right to respond. Sorry not sorry. Obviously we were in the right and got an apology. yeah. agree with all the above. redfox was right in calling her out on her bullshit comment. as a SIG fan, I'm sick of Sungjae fans saying they look alike. imo, Sungjae fans are more annoying than us, and redfox was right to call them out and attack them for being annoying. they started it w/ the comparisons. hmmmph.

that said, i'm glad she apologised.

0

yup. Imma take redfox side too. She's one of the most ardent SIG fans on DB. Everyone knows that. She's practically a star on here. Only newbs would think she's wrong. The reason I like her (besides from her awesome fangirling) is bc she isn't afraid to speak what's on her mind and attack people, screw political correctness. she's not afraid of a fight that fox. kkkk. she's like the ultimate SIG defender. kkkk.
regina's comment was annoying, so redfox came into defense mode. that is only right. it's only for her that we've got an apology.
frankly, i find sungjae's fan super annoying. why do we need to put up w their comparisons? I find SIG more handsome anw. he's definitely the better actor, sungjae shouldn't be compared to him or put in the same sentence. it's annoying.

0

"I am really getting annoyed. could you sungjae fans please stop belittling ? what does it even have to do with this drama? it is ridiculously petty and infantile."

Where was she wrong in her response, honest to god. Regina DL had no business comparing Sungjae 2 Gukkie.
Gukkie got the role, not Sungjae. He lost it. End of discussion.

I'm not going to contain my temper just because she got "hurt." She hurted us first. Again and again, people keep saying the same thing. We're sick of Seo In Guk being belittled. Sungjae fans are so immature. Why should we sugarcoat it we have Why should we sugarcoat it when we have to deal w/ those types of comments again, and again, and again.

SIG is the better actor. Please build a bridge and get over it.

0

"She’s practically a star on here"

LOL @ samie samie

hark hark. anyone who has been here for a bit knows redfox is one of the most loyal active users on DB. she's EVERYWHERE. there's no post she doesn't put her foot in. she has earned the right to say whatever is on her mind. much more than other people who just lurk and then cause trouble when they comment.
what has the world come to that you need to be careful when you're on the right side. we're not the sensitive ones, it's the ones who can't take our outspoken words who are.

You sound the sanest and kindest in here so I'm asking you.

I'm also inferring from the comments above but seem like Sungjae fans are belittling SIG by saying Sungjae is the better actor, and/or are disrespecting SIG and insulting him? Yeah, can somebody link me to the thread where the issues were brought up. I want to see what Sungjae fans said that offended SIG fans to this point. It seems super serious and I'm super curious now. Ok guys, let´s calm down. I wasn´t attacking a person but the wording. I also wasn´t saying SIG is a better actor and I hope others wont put it that way either. I don´t really understand though why this is being considered as a "fight". I myself have been pointed out for bad wording multiple times. never have I thought of that as starting a fight. I only posted 2 comments, dont see how I started a fight again, but if you all want to see it that way, I cant do nothing. that does not mean I wont point out next time when someone says something useless and unnecessary. I know how you feel, Regina, I guess I have to apologize on behalf of everyone. for some folks to say they no longer want to watch the drama because of that though, woah hold on, what did the drama do to you? dont punish the drama. does it mean we need to clench our teeth and avoid speaking up ever? why? I never say anything with the expectation people will explode and draw it out of context. I dont think so little of others. I just expect we address what we dont like and get over it rather than keep it inside. wont that be healthier for all? I wasnt throwing a bomb so I dont know why explosions followed.

I concur with you that it is better to express your feelings than to close up.
Nevertheless, if her fairly innocuous comment provoked this response from you -- and I quote:

"I am really getting annoyed. could you sungjae fans please stop belittling ? what does it even have to do with this drama? it is ridiculously petty and infantile."

You can surely expect that the comment above will provoke an more heated response in others just as hers did with you.

It is quite possible I'm misinterpreting this because of my age (I'm luckily or unluckily a retiree depending on how you view it), but back in my days, words used above could easily be seen as provoking, or starting a fight. It is possibly a generational gap. Perhaps it is understood between young people nowadays that those were just common expression. Well, why not. If crude words are used commonly nowadays in songs. It's difficult keeping up with the times sometimes. It's probably why the young ones despise people my age. We often misunderstand them because our language is not the same anymore. redfox, you seem like a popular young girl in this website and so many people defended your words as justified. Since you have such a loyal camp behind you, I will take it that you are a likable person with an upstanding character. Thus, I will interpret your words as they meant to mean, and take it that my own understanding of the strength of those words are outdated. It's the only way people can communicate peacefully, I think.

I find that when people use the personal pronoun like "you sungjae fans," it can be interpreted to be provoking since it is used in situation to call out people, or can unintentionally make the recipient of the message feel targeted. It is commonly taught in literature and communication classes, as well as debate classes (I was an instructional professor in Comm).

Lesson learned for all. Let's not assume the worst in others even if their words can be provoking. After all, they might not feel it is insulting.
Case in point, how redfox said she didn't mean to start a fight despite how people from my generation would have interpreted her words wildly differently from her own interpretation.

Oooh. THIS COMMENT is why I love this site. We have our fair share of troublemakers, like any other site, but some Beanies on here always make interesting comments regardless of which post I go to, even a disastrous one like this one. Heee.

I don't know which generation redfox is from, but I'm still a teenager (okay, okay, I'm 19. It should still count) and words like belittling, ridiculous, infantile, annoyed, petty, et cetera are still quite heated in my view. But then again, sometimes, I don't get offended by what you probably call crude words (hahahah how cute of you) like S, F, B. Matter of interpretation.

I find it so interesting how you carefully analyzed the snowball effect. No wonder your a professor. Hee hee. I didn't even think of it.

the first trigger word is "just" which was interpreted differently by people in different websites. on the original website it was meant well and received well. but in another environment, here, it was received differently. just as redfox said, the wording caused misunderstanding.

"just" then caused "annoyed" "petty" "infantile" "ridiculously" which ALSO was interpreted differently by redfox as discussion, but by others a fight.

And those words caused a full-out World War III no holds barred on DB.

So in the end, it's just a bunch of people misinterpreting the intention of others.

And I'm so happy to see what I've learned in school here. Pwahahahaha.

As for the wording of "you sungjae fans," I learned in English III that "you" is usually used in arguments and debates to provoke and target your opponent. And I learned it again in Psch 100. redfox must not have had those classes you taught since she didn't know this and what the effect of her words would cause. I find it interesting that to someone like me, who had lectures on this, I could have misinterpreted the intention of someone who did not take it. Fortunately, she said her words meant to attacked the wording, not the person and clarified the matter. Phew.

This is all super fascinating. I'm considering enrolling in COM class in spring now because of your comment.

0

pfffft. the more I think about it, the more hilarious this seems. this whole situation reminds me of Jealousy Incarnate.

I swear half the comments in this post is about the silliest most unjustified quarrel, all because of wording vs. tonality interpretation. louis and bokshil must have influenced us to behave like children. this drama should have a warning. stay away, caution, the cute could kill you, the immaturity could be contagious. mwuahaha.

here I am, contributing one more comment to this topic.

just wanted to say @xiahjian I too have found myself misunderstanding people from a different educational background. sometimes, I overthink something because I've learnt about it whilst the other person just is in ignorant bliss of my inner conflict because they don't know about it. the same thing end up having a different meaning for someone who learnt about it and someone who didn't. funny isn't it.

0

xiahjian :
indeed when I said the you I wasnt aware that it could also create confusion, when I thought back, I realise it did. and I have actually been taught psychology and stuff. but this is how we talk in my culture, "kuule sina!" hey you is not rude but normal, whether it be a retiree or a teen. habits die hard and for us "hey you!" is not picking a fight, it is just a normal way to address a stranger. I guess you can call it a gangster culture though....

let´s just say - I wasn´t wrong, but I shouldnt have allowed peoples feelings get hurt despite that. I will TRY not to do it again, but I cannot bet my head. I am not very comfortable with treading on needles.

0

OK @GeorgetteH Off-topic, love that writer. Coming back to the discussion, that was a great way to put it. Loved your whole thesis on sensitivities lol.
Yeah communication gap or cultural gaps can be deemed as a great bridge between people. But words can make or break us easily so may be we could do without generalizing or having same opinion about everyone. We all here may be deserve the same respect whether old or newbie, so it doesn't hurt to be more tolerant of others. But regardless, great piece of writing. I have been discovering great things on all the unusual places lately.

0

If we're talking about culture and communications, I think the problem started because the comment's context wasn't considered.

If you look at the full comment instead of just a phrase:

--- Louis is btob’s sungjae in real life while seo in guk is just sungjae look a like lol. Their face & character is remind me to sungjae a lot ----

it becomes obvious that the author of it is not fluent in English. There were several grammatical quirks, and a few sentence structure problems. Taking all that into account, the correct interpretation of the original intent and tone because easier, right?

@Sky are we thinking of the same author? if y, hi-5. Unless that professor's name is actually G.H.? Haha. That would be cool.

0

@Yixiaonaihe – Luweiweiwei
Haha yeah I meant Georgette Heyer..Unless you're talking about someone else. I didn't think anyone else was into that writer except me in this age, but here I find two of you lol.

@Georgette H.
Your comment exudes wisdom. Loved reading it.

@xiahjian
I've learned quite a bit about the English language today ☺

0

@redfox

oooooooh. are you a gangster? or do you frequent with gangsters? is that why you're familiar with gangster culture. that's so cool. ive never met a gangster, or even someone ingrained with gangster culture and speech like you. i'm going to be able to boast it to my friends later today at school. hihi. no wonder ive sensed a tough ghetto vibe from you all this time. wow. so cool. tough unni.

0

Love this comment! It's so often that we forget words have different meanings for different people. I reckon it also depends on the environment. Dramabeans is usually such a warm, fuzzy and safe place. I find that most commenters here are nicer and more roundabout with their words than on the other sites I frequent. Sometimes I'll read a comment here and think 'wow, that was unnecessarily harsh', but if I had seen the same thing somewhere else (like reddit or youtube) I most likely would've found it perfectly acceptable and may have even appreciated the bluntness. The comments section here is full of innocent puppies, so I don't think people should be surprised when their bluntness ends up hurting others.

If we're talking about order of Louis, it is right that SIG would be compared to Sungjae. Sungjae was born as Sungjae, who as a person, is similar to Louis, before SIG came into the role of Louis.
If we're talking about appearance, Sungjae would be compared to SIG because SIG was born first.

In the end, apologizing or feeling offended about the order is the silliest thing I've seen in a while. And I teach primary school.

I have been catching up on this whole matter.

So, let me get this straight. WW3 on DB started just because someone couldn't write proper English sentences and people thought the worst and thought the sentence was an insult?

LMAO. What the holy hell. Talk about drama.

Unless there's previous history and SIG fans have some beef with Sungjae fans for belittling and insulting SIG?

Oh, there's clearly history there. I wouldn't doubt it. I don't know the full story but it's the only reason that could explain redfox comment on why she singled out sungjae fans. There's nothing exceptional in the comments that showed either regina or that other commenter on kkuljaem blog were a "sungjae fan" but she interpreted it that way just because he was mentioned. I think her assumption shows SIG fans had previous encounters with sungjae fans. Hope it answers your question.

Episode 6 was really funny, and episode 7 was a riot! I'd just watched it by myself while briefly away in the mountains, and laughing out loud throughout. SIG's expressions are so on-point, as well as the writer's clever spin on drama tropes. I never expected this out of this drama. When it was first announced that SIG accepted the role I had a sense of foreboding. But this is seriously becoming one of my favorite roles for him. And Nam Ji Hyun is steller! I don't think I've ever seen such a cute relationship in a Kdrama... they are both killing it!

I'm maybe the only one who likes Joong-won. So far, I have like how he supports Bok-sil and knows her true potential. Maybe because I keep going back to when he said about genuinely rooting for Bok-sil when she was just starting at Goldline. He's also pretty straight forward with Bok-sil. He tells her the truth upfront (which all characters in this drama tend to do so). Except for his feelings.

Don't get me wrong. I'm still Team Louis (who wouldn't?). He and Bok-sil are just too adorable and cute, and they're
obviously meant for each. But Joong-won for me is a tolerable second lead. It's the kind of feeling you get from second lead syndrome but not to the point you want him to be with the lead or actually go gaga for him. I just enjoy his jealousy antics. How crazy and hilarious he can be. I can't helped but remember Let's Eat Lawyer Hak-moon. He was petty, desperate, and couldn't take a hint. And not all second lead material.

On another note. Where was the kiss scene? Curse you previews and your manipulative ways of screwing with our fantasies.

I'm okay with Joong-won too, I like him. I think he's hilarious, and I had a blast when Louis was living with him. I'm hoping for some bromance there eventually. They might be good for each other - Louis could help Joong-won be less uptight and Joong-won can help Louis be more responsible.

I'm neutral on JW although Louis living with him livened him up for me. I admit my main issue with him is the age difference. He comes off almost parent-like with Bok-sil and especially Louis which makes his feelings for Bok-sil seem weird.

His wardrobe never ceases to crack me up.

Nah I like Joong Won as well. I don't get all the hate for him, because Louis needed to be reined in, what he was doing was compromising Bok Shil's job. Remember the CEO would've used that as grounds to terminate Bok Shil's employment if Joong Won had not interfered.

We seem to give Louis too much slack because he's cute and all and we love SIG who plays him, when in reality, Louis is a pest, I hesitate to use the word parasite, if he were any less cute and lovable, he'd be an easy person to hate.

A grown man who behaves like a kid, can't fend for himself and orders the people around who go out of their way to help him like slaves. If I were Bok Shil, I would probably have kicked him out eons ago, or made him get his own meals and not waited on him. I live with someone just like Louis, though not as charming, so I really admire Bok Shil's patience and fortitude. It requires a lot of tolerance to put up with someone like that.

True. Louis is adorable as hell, but this is something he needs to grow out of. Of course he was raised with people doing everything but chewing his food for him, so it's understandable that he acts like that, but it's essential that he understands that he can't keep treating people like servants. Especially not Bok Shil, if he wants a healthy relationship with her.

All of this... people are fawning over louis, but in reality, joong won is way more likeable to me. Seo in guk plays it well, but I'm just so over with how immature and inconsiderate Louis is. The character development needs to happen ASAP.

That's true. He's soooooo cute but I need him to be a bit more grown up before I, personally, would have someone like him as a partner. However, what Louie surely has is no-nonsense affection for Bok Sil. He's very straightforward about it and so it rings more sincerely than say, Jong Woon's layered pretexts of affection for Bok Sil. I just can't decide whether I want Louie's growing up to happen before or after he regains his memory, but what I am sure about is that he is defnitely sentimental with or without memories so i'm guessing that's where his growing up will emerge from. Remember that scene in episode 1 where he got all melancholic at the realization that he couldn't even enjoy a few raindrops without the world fuzzing about around him? I believe his growth can quite possibily root from that loneliness especially since Bok Sil seems to give warmth where he was previously empty. From episode 8 onwards, I'm expecting more heart as we move away or grow beyond he fluff. Fingers crossed the drama won't sit below my expectations.

Required fields are marked *

I am not to keen to like him yet. especially when the preview for ep 8 has him say something like "I will never let you go!" though I dont know maybe "go to somewhere specific" but it did sound possessive, and when a male character gets possessive... well, but then, Louie is a little...no, louie is clingy, not possessive. there is a difference there in acting a bit entitled and acting clingy because you are lonely and have no one else.

well louie is actually possesive too, it's not that different. we can accept it probably because he is closer to age to boksil and they look very adorable together.

I agree though, louie need to grow up a bit especially that bossing people around is irking me too. For now he act really childish, I want him to be a bit serious so it's equal to boksil

I agree 100%. As much as I love Seo In-guk and how he adorably portrays Louis, there's still a limit to his behavior. It became more apparent in episode 7 so I truly wish he starts maturing. Not like lightening speed where in a snap he changes but where he truly realizes he needs to start caring for himself. I know
it might take a long time since he was pretty much sheltered in his entire life but I hope it comes soon.

This drama is a testament to SIG's charms and charisma. Louis to me seems like a very difficult character to pull off since he does do things that can be seen as very irritating. The way he frivolously buys thing they can't afford, how he orders people around and his lack of general physical effort can be real turn-offs but SIG somehow turns them into something innocent and even playful.

I mean, I expected an angst-filled episode, seeing the preview and all. But good work show, you conned us again (aside- are the writers fans of 38 Task Force?) I started snort-laughing at almost 00:30 seconds at the way SIG fell, and I knew right then that all my worries this past week were stupid. This show is way too funny to give us a car of doom in just 6th episode!

I have say that Louis and Bok Shil are the cutest couple in dramaverse. And it has now definitely been proven that no one is immune to Louie's charms- even the mighty Mr. Cha ran errands for him! So adorbs <3

I don't know if anyone's already mentioned it, but that chair in the book shop that they showed when the detective went there looks like the same chair that louis took off the street. Why are louis and bok sil so cute??!! and even Director Cha is awesome. I was so absorbed with watching this episode that I was laughing out loud on the train and missed my stop! GAH.

I wonder, if Bok Sil finds out that her brother (maybe) is dead - then will she be persuaded by others not to keep Louis around anymore --> will this be the 'chance' that Director Cha will use to win Bok Sil over?

Let's hope Louis will grow up and be able to act like a responsible adult by then so he and Bok Sil can date like equals.

Ooh, I must say poor you Regina, and kindly please don't stop being a SKL fan, and also SIG fan. I am also a hard-head over heels fan of SIG, but I want to stay a perfect rationale fan that could ever be(because my last comment on who-is-better-playing-Louie-SIG-or-Sungjae also sparked some heat, and I wish not to get through it again).
I've read that some commentators are saying that they're tired of Louie helpness, I mean do you guys really watched the drama? Even though Louie behaviour can be tiresome, he is not someone who doesn't listen to people. He worked when he was told too, and he has sincere towards people who took care of him(of course we wouldn't have Seo Inguk man-like child in our life) but from my points of view, that is his most charming qualities, compared to other typical KDrama chaebol who doesn't event have their own personality(Kim Tan anyone?)
Well overall this is a SIG man show, haha. I've lost count on how many times my heart dropped upon seeing Gukkie half naked body(and I am thrilled to realized that I was damn too excited over what a damn drop gorgeous normal body that SIG had; such a normal and common body, sigh I guess its due to SIG effects) and SKL really lived up to its name; a romantic comedy full of cotton candy and sugar!

I think this show should be recommended instead of chocolate to anyone who has to study for a stressful exam. It's such a mood changer. I really appreciate how the writer is so cleverly using all the romance tropes but in a smart way. That time when Louis is successful making a butler out of Jung won lol. What's funny is despite being an amnesiac and an illiterate one right now, Louis has retained his inner keen sense of luxury and comfort. For instance I remember this time when Louis is telling Jung Won to bring a pillow for him..and he stocks up a pile of them on trial basis. It just reminded me of the story 'princess and the pea' from Hans Christian Anderson . Like the princess Louis proves his royal identity by showing how sensitive he is to these little details lol. Another time would be how Louis gets comfortable by making his own setup wherever he goes.Doesn't matter if it's a castle or a rooftop shabby apartment. So sitting in his comfy abandoned couch Louis keeps doing what he does best.. giving people advice...on their shoes, SUV's, trainers, ring , clothes what not! And as the camera pan out from his roof to the surrounding to the whole world it gives us a very clear idea of the power of his connections to people too may be. It shows even if if he is right now living without any comfort .in his mind he's the same old Louis..so all the tropes like the way he says I would always he more than 2000€ cash in my pocket sounds so hilarious. It's a classic take on dramas like my fair lady ...not exactly story wise but we get a picture what happens when princes will do in common daily life scenario. So Louis's life..like Oliver Twist is now being twisted..and he keeps shifting from Bokshil's place to Jung won's ...but still he makes himself at ease just after minutes into the house. So that's the reason I love the drama the most out of the lot. It's funny,it's innovative, smart, and the best thing is Louis could be any of our friend, being the brash,on your face, direct and straight forward that he is lol. It's refreshing to see a hero for a change ordering around the girl that he loves to bring water, make rice, giving pocket money, carry the heavy luggage, saying that he would save her just cause he meant it while we know how it's the other way around. I hope the Co-abitation never stops just cause that brings out so much more dynamics and possibilities in them. And finally hail to king Louis hehe. The rate we're going I can't but wonder who's next in Louis's list of maids..and hoping to see Mari and the evil chairman doing some chores for Louis too in coming days. It takes brains to do that lol. It's not an easy task making people do things for you.

Wow, I've just read the comments. Are people being serious? I don't care if your artist is being compared to Lucifer, that does not justify the lack of civility I've seen. I think I've lost a few brain cells reading the entitlement in some comments. Funny how the insulting are feeling insulted.

So much for thinking DB followers were polite, mature and dont resort to silly fan fights O_o

Reading too much between the lines and starting a fan war with a bunch of supporters to justify the action, takes away all the goodness of the show and recap. I'm no die hard fan of parties but the arrogance even after the apology is too much.

Thank you @Lollypip for the wonderful recap :) That adorable messaging scene between Louis and Bok sil is still running in mind 24hrs after I saw it ?

SIG is killing it as Louie..he has nailed the character with all the lil nuances -the running with his hand flapping around, the puppy looks, the obvious love for bok shil..Brilliant.
I was so convinced that SIG was the perfect con man inPU38, but now I think he the most perfect Louie! What am amazing talent!!

Love, love the chemistry between the leads! They're so adorable~ I really like how Boksil and Louie both are so Innocent:)

Pain relieving patches, it might be so painful getting rid of them after the scene.

With the fridge scene, which she’s using as a storage cabinet SIG just smirks behind her when they're talking how small is the place, that face makes me go crazy and my imagination went wild lol

lol, are you serious?! Regina was just sharing something from a different site because she thought might be relatable and some sensitive fans just attacked her and called her thoughtless thinking that they're deserving of an apology, petty much. Now give yourselves a pat at the back for ruining someone's drama watching experience.

You guys (the butt-hurt ones, you know who you are) gotta be more mature fans tbh. Comparisons are inevitable, I too sometime see Sungjae in Louie. I can tell the insecurity of some fans comments which is so odd. We all know Seo Inguk is the more established actor (SO OBVIOUS) with tons of great works meanwhile Sungjae is an idol from an affluent background and starting to climb his career in acting projects. I don't get where all this insecurity and pettiness is coming from.

I came here to read about fun drama discussions only to see that mess that stemmed from something so pointless. Hopefully it ends with just this, I don't want to come back to see another meaningless fanwar ala Reply style.

That username :O My last rainbow and fluff drama before this was Love O2O, loved the leads! I need more tension between Louie and Bok Shil like the leads there had, but I can't expect that from little kittens who are always truthful to each other and don't hold back with their affections.

15+ Alpha!

Dear ObsessedMuch,
I really feel the need to take this time to make a confession. Being a huge SIG's fangirl truly gives me sooo many positive feelings and experience.

For the first time in my life I am this obsessed and boy, all of those lovey dovey phrases I read only in romance novel, I knew it now what it truly means lol.

Looking at SIG is heaven. Watching his acting is a true joy of life. And following his activities made me so happy knowing how humble and so full of positive energy he is.

And to jump into this fangirl world gives me lots of opportunities to meet so many wonderful people, like beanies here, other fangirls out there, and someone as sweet as you, ObsessedMuch.

I AM a very happy fangirl here. And I DO wish everyone else are also as happy as I am. If anything, having a bias should make our world a happier and brighter place, right.

Cheers everyone! Let's spread the love for Gukkie positively and happily. Love!

I guess this was addressed to my comment #30 above :)

"If anything, having a bias should make our world a happier and brighter place, right."
So, so right. And I have loved reading (writing) repetitive comments about how adorable and sexy SIG is because it gives me a kind of validation about my love for him- like yes! you are not alone! there are other crazy people like you!

And aww, thanks for calling me sweet!

Also, beanies, if you haven't seen these videos, please do. Asmara makes wonderful SIG videos:

It's very amusing to watch how the bad guys think they are part of this great thriller revenge drama when in reality, they are bystanders of a romcom.

yes - some folks on twitter are saying that they fast forward all the uncles´ scenes, but what is a comedy without a cartoon villain? these people just probably dont even realise there is humor in. well it is not obvious and since it is watched as a relaxation drama, they dont want to switch their gray molecules on

The supposed-to-be main villain Director Baek has become a side humour n joke. I think now the unknown serial killer with a hammer is more dangerous than him. Hahaha. We need Lee Hyun back to apprehend the hammer serial killer in that neighbourhood ! ;)

I'm a fan of SIG, but sometimes you gotta take a step back. It's clear that a lot of the responses to Regina aren't even particularly about Regina's comment, but feelings that have built up for the last 7 episode recaps because of the constant sungjae-name dropping in the comment section. And of course feeling like you have to protect one of your own (redfox), when she clearly is able to fend on her own. This wouldn't have been a big deal if you guys had just let the two have their discussion.

I went back to check after reading Chi's comment and seems like Sungjae was mentioned in 3 posts recaps out of 6 (I used Ctrl+F). No insults to SIG either. Seems like things got blown out of proportions, but the question is why? Do SIG fans really dislike the comparisons that much? I'm also a fan of SIG but I don't mind.

I guess it's not that much the comparison itself as it is the order of who's compared to whom. cause SIG is older and has been on scene longer. at least I think so.
it reminds of a bit of a chat I had with my brother. we're both big ice hockey fans (but he pays more attention to details than I do). I told him he totally looked like a certain player and he huffed: you mean he looks like me, right? cause my brother is two years older than that player. ;)

doesn't makes sense with celebrities that u could compare someone u've seen first in a work to what u've seen after? it happens with other things too. the things u've seen first, books, movies, first loves, are often the things that makes the biggest impression and u start comparing other things to it as a reference regardless of what actually came first. anw, it's such a small thing to feel offended by. i guess i just don't get it.

If we're talking name-dropping, Park bogum gets name dropped about a hundred times more than sungjae in every single bloody SIG dramas even when Park bogum has nothing to do with the actual drama. Everytime there's a bromance, it gets compared, often unfavourably with the psycho brothers. People constantly crave and miss it and wonder how it would be if Park bogum was in the drama and wish for it, and I don't see anybody finding it offensive.
It must be something different than name-dropping which caused this mess.

I think Bo Gummie name-dropping is different because the boys did a drama together. Most db SIG fans are also PBG fans. It was the same drama that made them fans of the two. So the animosity isn't the same.

Idk for sure though. I'm a fan of all three. And wish Sungjae would be in a drama with In Guk because that would be everything.

Interesting. Your comment made a really good point.

It's shameful how things got out of hand. I wished people could be more understanding outside of their fandom. I now see the fact that SIG fans are not also Sungjae fans which allowed this situation to snowball. If it was Bogummi, it would have been different I guess.
I don't follow Sungjae so I'm not sure about this... if I remember correctly, didn't SIG meet with Sungjae several times (I remember seeing pictures somewhere) and they are friendly with each other? Why can't we get along if the artists do?

I just had a thought I want to add.

Isn't name dropping common on dramabeans? I see it frequently. Sometimes, even the staff name drops that so-and-so had better chemistry in another drama, or they wished so-and-so took the role instead, or that so-and-so would have fit the role better. I think I've even seen in some recappers on the humor of the situation because so-and-so was known to look like someone (don't quote me on that). The more I think about it, the more I'm puzzled about why things happened the way they happened. *scratch head*

Phew. Finally caught up with the drama that's been going on. I wonder if it was not better for me to have missed it frankly. Curiosity killed the cat. I was curious after reading about this on OT. >.<

Onto Chi's comment about leaving the discussion to those two.

I'm loathe to defend those people above, but that comment that started it all was begging for fanwars. When that person called out Sungjae fans, she basically created an invitation for other people besides those involved into discussion.
1. She directed her comments to an entire fandom
2. She basically dragged the attention of all the people who had problems with Sungjae Fans instead of Regina specifically

I disagree with you in parts. I agree that comment was stirring trouble and/or asking for fanwar. But they had a choice not to fall into that trap. Maybe they were too emotionally involved to see a trap but it looks to me like it was obvious the comment targeting all the fans was baiting material.

There is nothing much to complain about this drama because it's just so lighthearted. no need to think so much. It just makes you happy.

I just need bokshil to keep being her awesome self, louie to grow up a bit and understand what situation is he in. Then I'm fine with whatever they decide to throw us

P.S. Anybody out there minding the plot and caring to dissect it with technical writing eyes? I really want to read these sort of opinions on the drama.

Early on when they tossed out that the rooftop apartment was a "murder house" and that's why the rent was cheap, I thought it was just an excuse. To actually have that be a real thing that comes back to haunt the story actually justifies that dramatic element. (Chekov's Gun trope - if there's a gun on stage in the first act of a play it must be fired eventually because it's too significant a detail to stick in as a red herring).

I like that the cute cop keeps popping up.

Yes! Skillful placement of minute details that are later given more significance as plot devices. I'm very much bothered by the fire hydrant near the Hong Franc cafe. For some reason, I feel like the writer is going to pull one from out of there...

I love it when they like to use the plot of scamming and the serial killer. It's like a reference to SIG's previous excellent work in I Remember You and Squad 38 ! We need Lee Hyun and Yang Jeong Do back in this drama to help catch the serial killer with a hammer and to scam those scammers back n get back Bok Shih's lost money ! Maybe a cameo for both of them? Lol !

Joong Won's "signature clearing of his throat" is amusing too. I love it when Louis tried to imitate him on that.
