Yoon Doo-joon up for new drama from Marriage Not Dating team

Awww yeah. I’ve been ready for Yoon Doo-joon (Splish Splash Love, Let’s Eat) to do a new drama for eons! Okay, maybe months. He’s currently considering an offer to headline the new tvN drama from PD Song Hyun-wook of Oh Hae-young Again and Marriage Not Dating, and I’m doubly excited because the director is re-teaming with writer Joo Hwa-mi of Marriage Not Dating and Discovery of Romance for his next project. These are three people I want working together, because just think of all the hilarity to be had! Do you think we could get Seo Hyun-jin to do a super quick turnaround after Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim to join them? No wait, Kim Seul-gi!

The new Monday-Tuesday drama is called Introverted Boss, and Yoon Doo-joon has been offered the title role. The character is a mysterious man known as the “silent monster,” the director of the top public relations agency in the business. No one knows much about him because he always avoids eye contact and appears coldly aloof and arrogant, but in truth he’s an extreme introvert — a PR exec who hates attention and is too shy to be around people. Odd choice of careers, but I suppose that’s where we’ll see the comedy unfold.

The character is vastly misunderstood, because people believe him to be sly and ferocious when he’s actually just extremely cautious and introverted, to the point that he just hides out in his house and presents an outward image that’s full of puffed-up lies. But because of this he loses everything that’s important to him, and he begins to dream of a new life outside his walls. The drama is about his timid, quiet steps toward growth.

He already sounds so endearing despite his deep-seated issues, like the male counterpart to Park Shin-hye’s character in Flower Boy Next Door. I just like the idea of an eccentric drama hero who’s going to be full of all these quirks and flaws, and I hope he gets a heroine who’s just as odd in her own way. After Marriage Not Dating, I trust this PD-writer team to give us a fresh romance with hilarious, memorable characters, so I’ll just cross all fingers and toes for a great cast to sign on.

Introverted Boss is scheduled to be a Monday-Tuesday drama in January, following Rude Miss Young-ae Season 15.
