Merry Christmas from Strong Woman Do Bong-soon to you

Details and promos for JTBC’s upcoming drama Strong Woman Do Bong-soon have been rather scarce, but a short and sweet promo has been released just in time for the holidays featuring the main couple: Park Bo-young (Oh My Ghostess) and Park Hyung-shik (Hwarang).

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon is a fully pre-produced drama written by Baek Mi-kyung (Beloved Eun-dong) and directed by PD Lee Hyung-min (Ms. Temper and Nam Jung-ki). Park Bo-young takes on the titular role and plays a woman born with Herculean strength; anything she touches with too much force crumbles in her hands. Park Hyung-shik plays her love interest, Ahn Min-hyuk, an extraordinary second-generation chaebol with crazy tendencies, and a rollicking romance sparks between the two eccentric characters.

Ji-soo (Fantastic) plays Gook Du, the guy who’s harbored a one-sided crush on the heroine, and in her first drama role, gag woman Park Bo-mi will play Na Kyung-shim, the trusty childhood friend who’s aware of the heroine’s secret and dutifully helps her out.

The festive promo teaser shows Park Hyung-shik glued to his phone, not looking where he’s walking. Park Bo-young spots him and surprises him with glowing silver baubles floating in the air, but he just walks past them, only mildly interested, until she yanks him back with her strong arms and makes him wish us a merry Christmas, heh.

This promo probably has little to do with the actual story, but who would object to an adorable holiday greeting from Park Bo-young? The idea of her as a tiny, mighty heroine sounds pitch perfect and delightful, and though I wish Ji-soo were playing the male lead instead, she and Park Hyung-shik do make a cute pair.

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon will premiere on JTBC sometime in February 2017.

Why is a happy ending with the woman he loves so hard for Ji Soo?! At this point, it feels like he's cursed!

Ignoring that, this teaser is adorable, the actors are adorable - I'm seriously looking forward to this! A heroine who can make men feel insecure is always hilarious.

Didn't he stay with the heroine in Page Turner as well as Fantastic?

I don't think 'Page Turner' was necessarily a romance drama - but assuming it was, he has a happiness ratio of about 5:2. But regardless of the fact that we often end up crying for him, Ji Soo always manages to choose interesting, adorable new roles (I haven't seen 'Moon Lovers' though, so I can't really include it), which means I'm really looking forward to this!

I did watch Fantastic. But, he did not have a straight love line. I like to assume Sul and he end up together, but the story never expressly depicted their mutual romance. So, he maybe got the girl? I'm hoping he got the girl? He better have got the girl! Hahaha. I want a true romance!!! Is that too much to ask??? BTW, this drama looks great regardless.

Ji Soo will get the girl next year or the year after, when hes famous enough to be the lead.

Yeah but...Park Hyung-shik hasn't done much either. I only remember him from the drama he did with UEE which I mean I liked his storyline well enough but his acting could be a little...eh.
I dunno, either way, Park Bo-young is awesome and either male leads have a lot to learn from her lol.

I would have said the same thing as you few days ago, but after watching him in Hwarang, I am sold! The guy can act and have charisma! He is even the main reason I keep on watching this so-so drama. may be he took acting classes ( which should probably be taken by 90% of idol-turned-actor). Anyway he improved and I can't wait to see him plays alongside Bo-youngie and Ji-sooya !!!!

I love the combination of Park Bo-young and Park Hyung-sik. I think they look super adorable together!

Park Bo-young has my expectations for being funny, sky high due to her turn in "oh my ghostess". Hoping for some amazing chemistry between the leads!

Aww cute teaser. It was weird that he was seating in a chair after she grabbed him though. Lol

At first, I wanted to watch this drama because of Park Bo Young. I wasn't really sure about Park Hyung Sik, but he has already given me a good impression in Hwarang. I think they will look sweet together.

I've actually always liked Park Hyung-shik and technically he's been working his way up for a longer time than Ji-soo, so I'm happy to see him as the lead here. He probably didn't have as much natural talent as Ji-soo did when he started out, but I'd still say he's on par with him now. Plus, the leading pair looks adorable together.

I like Ji Soo, but yeah, I don't mind that PHS is the lead. It's good that he's been gradually building up his experience. It's just I've only seen him in Nine so I'm not familiar with him yet. ^^

I adore Park Hyung Sik, he's such a talented actor with so much potential (see him in the Drama Special Sirius -such a good drama-) and I'm so glad he's the lead. He looks adorable with PBY.

Ji Soo, Ji Soo, Ji Soo. I really like yay dude and want to keep doing so. Please stop with this type cast or adorable noona loving second lead puppy and venture into some other second or even first lead roles already please and thank you.

But I think Ji Soo does not really have the choice as of now, he probably needs to be in a very popular drama to may be be lucky enough to stop being type-casted...........Anyway his cameo was great in yesterday Weightlifting fairy KBjoo episode ^^!!!!

I couldn't look past Park Hyung Sik's hideous wig in Hwarang, so hopefully this one will be different as PHS looks cuter here. Park Bo Young is as adorable as ever!

Chaebol again! Haha. This is the second time he play as chaebol after high society. I guess he has a rich(?) face. And he's a king in Hwarang too !! That's like past time chaebol, right?

I'm afraid it will be a typical drama with chaebol and a poor girl, but I'll trust Park Boyoung's choice, and it's Jtbc so I have high hopes. I hope the drama will do well.

Park Hyungsik have always had great chemistry with his leading ladies. The coming of age love story with Nam Jihyun in 'What Happens to My Family' is cuuute. And his romance with Im Jiyeon in 'High Society' is swoon worthy <3. And now with chemistry queen Park Boyoung, I'm sure they'll be fine.

I think Jisoo's kinda overrated here in dramabeans. Don't get me wrong guys, I love him in Angry Mom and I've watched almost all his dramas and movies. He always plays the same character just with different background. And he's not that great in Moon Lovers.

Park Hyung-Sik on the other hand have proved himself as a leading man in High Society. His portrayal of twins who have very different personalities in Sirius is also great.

I'm not trying to hate on Jisoo here, I love both actors. It's just that I'm annoyed at his fans after Sassy Go Go. They always said 'why Jisoo plays second lead, poor Jisoo, who is this nugu actor that cast as male lead', even though I'm sure there's a reason Lee Won Geun was cast in the leading role. Look at him now! He got a role in The Good Wife and now he will play alongside Kim Haneul in a new movie.

I'm sorry but that's my opinion. And I'm sure not all his fans are like that. Jisoo is a great actor. He plays sad puppy well. But I think he needs to get out of his comfort zone and plays a different role.

I agree with you. Even though i love Ji soo, he seems to be overrated. He's a good actor but I think he needs to grow as an actor before actually getting the lead role.

I blame his agency for this. I like Jisoo as well. A talented young actor. But his agency for some reason keep taking roles for him that will not make him better.

Look at Sung Jae. He was in School 2015 and now Goblin. And he is more memorable because of we didn't get to see him all the time. He even kept turning down many roles offered to him.

So I don't know what's wrong with Jisoo's agency, but they need to do something different for him.

Instead of a lead role.. he can take negative or a confident serious character... Anything but a puppy second lead role..

I agree. I haven't seen Angry Mom yet, but seen most of his other works and Jisoo is still growing as an actor and imo he's not ready for lead roles. At the moment I feel as if he's taking any roles offered to him. I still find him (at times) awkward and unconvincing, and he should stay away from sageuk for awhile lol.

Lee Won Geun really suited his character in SGG so I see why he was cast. I hope Jisoo can find a project that really challenges him and pushes him out of his comfort zone.

I'm so glad someone said it. I enjoyed him in Angry Mom, but beyond that, I never understood the fanatic adoration he's enjoyed on this site. I mean, yes, he's a good actor, but I definitely wouldn't want him over Park Hyung-Sik or Lee Won Geun.

Then again, I can't remember a time I've ever suffered from second-lead syndrome (I was immune even in School 2015) so maybe I just have a disease or something lol.

I so agree with yall.
Ji Soo could probably try a different role and it doesn't have to be a lead, but a role that could really showcase his acting range. Only then he would really have a chance for a main lead.
Up to now I'm not really impressed with his acting.

Ji soo is like younger version of Lee jun ki. Both are being type casted in same type of genre/drama. I too think he should try something different for the next drama, but you never know this may turn out to be turning point in his career.
Besides i am glad Park Hyung shik is finally getting single male lead role. Boy worked really hard to get here.

I love his loveline in Fanatastic- but there wasnt enough of him- but granted his health was way more imp.
In page turner its more of an open ending.
Would love to see him pait with his costar from Page Turner again. or maybe Nam Ji hyun?
Hope his carrer in 2017 continues to be on the rise

Although i agree with commentors that Jisoo should challenge himself with a diff role. I cant say hes not ready for lead role.
To be honest i wasnt sure Nam Joo Hyuk is ready and i didnt really like his previous works - but hes knocking it out of the park in Weightlifting fairy.
So unless they step up and do it, we wont know. Thus far my fav role of Jisoo is Page Turner. And his worse is Moon Lovers. We do know he needs to avoid sageuk for now. Maybe a modern day thriller or intense role..

Kyaaa, this is one lovely teaser <3 It makes me want to spend Christmas with them*Can I, can I?...grin* Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is definitely my most anticipated drama for 2017.

Hyungsik's casting as the male lead has come as a pleasant surprise, I was totally elated at the news. He's talented, he deserves every bit of his success.
Plus, I couldn't have wished for a better partner than Park Bo Young as his leading lady. Drama Gods sure blessed me this winter...first with Hwarang (my handsome king), now with this coming drama. It's Hyungsik's time to shine! Rise Hyungsik, riseeeeee!

Park Bo Young looks like Kim Bok Joo, our fairy.

I do love their outfits as it goes in line with the 'plot' of the teaser. Here's Park Bo Young, dressed in bright red Christmas colours, all excited for the festive season. Then there's Park Hyun Shik, who couldn't be bothered with any of it, in his jeans and tee( nice outfit btw). Love it!!
