Missing 9 fight for survival on uninhabited island in new stills

With less than three weeks until its premiere, MBC’s Missing 9 has released a flood of stills showing us a preview of the beautiful island scenery and desperate aura surrounding our characters. In the upcoming castaway drama, an inexplicable malfunction causes a plane full of celebrity VIPs to plummet and crash onto an uninhabited island. Jung Kyung-ho (One More Happy Ending) plays a washed-up (both figuratively and literally) star, who is one of the disastrous flight’s survivors.

Regardless of his long ago fall from A-list status, Jung Kyung-ho retained his arrogant top star mentality, which leads others to perceive him as brash and inconsiderate, when actually inside, he’s a tender-hearted softie. On an island in the middle of nowhere, where fame, fortune, and status have no meaning, Mother Nature forces him to confront hardships that peel back layers to reveal his true character.

His rookie stylist, played by Baek Jin-hee (My Daughter Geum Sa-wol), on the other hand, takes to island life like a fish to water. After years of having to fend for herself on a diverse array of part-time jobs like diving, Baek Jin-hee is specially equipped to adapt to the wild. Her survival skills and his lack thereof creates a complete reversal in their power dynamic, which will be the starting point of their tentative alliance.

The story is told four months afterwards, through Baek Jin-hee who comes forward as the only known surviving witness of the incident. Despite her best efforts to expose the truth behind the mysterious crash, the chairman of the Special Investigative Task Force assigned to the national-scale plane tragedy blocks her attempts for his own gain. Will this thrilling tale of the hidden side of human nature and the breaking point of the enduring human spirit end in darkness or will the truth come to light?

Wednesday-Thursday drama Missing 9 will begin on January 16, after Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-ju finishes its run.

Something VERY important I will be looking at while watching Missing 9...

...Will their eyebrows be noticably filled?

Gosh jolly, we're doomed on this isolate island, but gotta have our eyebrows on point.

LOL! Let's be on the lookout for anything suspiciously well-groomed (eyebrows and all)!

It will also be interesting to see if those with their hair dyed will start showing their darker roots. I know mine start showing within 4-6 weeks... ;)

Moreover, they will be wearing the same clothes in 16 episodes! They will be losing a lot in ppl unless subway pops out of somewhere and they get a tuna sandwich out of the fish they are holding.

It wouldn't surprise me if in one scene,

a peaceful scene,

Jung Kyung Ho sits quietly by the beach, looking out in the ocean,

and there, a wrapped subway floats its way into shore.

I'm going to hope for some realism.

If they are on a isolated island, fighting for survival and without any kind of modern tools and acessories, I expect by the end of the drama to see some realism: eyebrows not done, visible dark roots on the hair, dirty clothes, nails undone and not painted, dirty teeth, growing hair pits for women, etc...

I like survival premises and jungle themed shows, but to be a good show for me it needs to be realistic enough.

I agree but I doubt this show will go this way. Haaha.

When I first heard of this drama, I thought it was going to be a romantic comedy where the stylist and the former A-list celebrity bicker and then get together. And now my brain is finding it hard to process this drastically different albeit interesting premise. Still feel cheated out of my romcom though.

Wait o, do we still not know why they are all dressed in off-white/beige/brown colours?

Incidentaly, I just came here straight from the Falling For Innocence recap. Good God, Jung Kyun Ho has one seductive voice. I usually don't say that about Korean actors, i usually comment on the deep, commanding voice but with Jung Kyun Ho, theres that low, hush-like tone he adopts even when angry sometimes and it just struck me from nowhere! Am loving it.

Yeah I'm wondering why they are all wearing the same time of colour though?? Yes I like JKH too. He was awesome in Heartless City and Falling for Innocence.

wonder if they'll magically find their own luggage floating about so their wardrobes can change, especially the winter coats that we never see twice in the same drama...

Don't worry, Subway sandwiches will wash up on shore as needed to save lives and restore faith in humanity.

Or, If they didn't sign up for a big PPL, spoiled subway-like sandwiches drifting ashore next to starving survivors might be the reason why the expert survivor is the only survivor :)

PPL ideas

Maxim coffee

Pillows from that pillow store in I Remember You ( the demanding star can be very particular about bringing his/her favorite pillow)

There's that waterproof phone from Marriage Contract( it'd be their version of 'piggy glasses', but hopeful no theft and squelchy cold murder.

I'm coming up short, anymore ideas?

Actually, since storks no longer deliver babies--their traditional jobs long since lost to the vagaries of world economies--they'll be dropping down Subway sandwiches to our poor protagonists ;)

Subway sandwiches can definitely be more able to save lives here (9 lives) when they obviously need food on a deserted island.

I was legit waiting for the Subway PPL comment to show up…BAHAHAHAH

@spazmo that's actually kinda brilliant. I hope it happens that way...well not wardrobe exactly but some seemingly useless things everyone grumbles about but later proof to be God-sent at the most provident time.

The towels From Bamboo panda as seen in Goblin. Surely,a plane is equipped with them or even the survivors luggages.

But props to the actors doing this in the cold and shivering winter. I take it they filming on an island which I see from tv shows are colder than landed areas.

What's the trend of hair-colouring nowadays in K-dramas? not that I am against it..but nowadays black hair is almost a non-existent in K-dramas except in saeguks!

I personally like black hair on k-drama actors..ok don't call me a racist now! LOL

grey!! grey as in salt&pepper grey with color highlights at the ends... i.e., pink, blue, purple tinted ends.

i told my daughter to wait until she's my age and she'll naturally have that salt&pepper look without having to pay for it. of course, the accompanying wrinkles won't look cool....
