Park Hae-jin makes orange the new black in Man to Man stills

I’ve been excited since March when rumors of Park Hae-jin (Cheese in the Trap) joining JTBC’s upcoming thriller romance Man to Man first broke. Steadily month by month, my anticipation (and impatience) for this drama has grown because of its excellent casting choices and innovative plot.

The story centers around a secret agent undercover as a bodyguard, played by Park Hae-jin, who comes to protect a famous Hallyu star, played by Park Sung-woong (Remember–Son’s War). Except, he’s not your typical Hallyu star; he receives top billing for playing the big bad villain in his projects. Kim Min-jung’s (Master of Trade–Inn 2015) character is his fan club president and enthusiastic manager, who is immediately suspicious of Park Hae-jin the bodyguard.

The cast and crew for Man to Man recently returned from Budapest, Hungary, after finishing their overseas location filming, and still cuts from their shoots there have been released. The first promo pics from Hungary showed Park Hae-jin reading at a university library in a fashionable tweed coat. This time around, he’s rocking an orange jumpsuit from behind iron-barred windows in a dilapidated prison.

I almost didn’t recognize Park Hae-jin with his intense stare and and jailbird bowl-cut, but he’s definitely working it, and bringing back the Bad Guys vibes. Initially, I was afraid that with his slender lanky build, he wouldn’t fit the image of the fighter he’s said to be in his character description. However, after seeing these stills, it’s easy to imagine him as the shadowy elite agent next to Park Sung-woong, who is said to throw menacing glares to fans and anti-fans alike.

Romance thriller drama Man to Man comes from the writer Kim Won-seok (Descended From the Sun) and PD Lee Chang-min (Remember–Son’s War). It will air on JTBC sometime in early 2017.

I just watched him in 7 First Kisses and died. I can't with all the eye candy we have in that show. PHJ gave out mad Yoo Jung vibes though but I think I like that. I think he's at his best when he's an anti-hero or just morally ambigious like in CITT or BG. I guess it's my soft spot for bad boys.

Could you let me know about the "horrible stuff" that you mention. Because most of those are from a game where they guesting bad comment on the internet about each other. Some are mistranslate, some are from long time ago when things are different, and he really change a lot from that time.

Seems like comments like this always pop up and I'm pretty sure some of commenters already answered it in previous threads?

but who has the energy to go back and sift through ALL the comments on every park hae-jin/park hae-jin-related article? i sure don't. and most of the time i don't even glance at the comment section unless i feel like it—i just read the article and move on.

so it's perfectly fine for stuff to be brought up even if it's been previously addressed. chances are there are new readers popping up all the time, or people who genuinely don't know or are curious and don't necessarily follow all the threads.

Can you tell me as well? I'm curious bc I thought he was likeable and I really like his acting. I heard he does charity works.

So, just because of some rumours will he become 'unlikeable'.I mean those are baseless rumours, you can't judge an actor by rumours .if you really like his acting, you should simply enjoy the drama.other than the drama issue ,rest all are his personal issues which we shouldn't bother about.

Oh no...I didn't mean like that. I mean I find him very likable because I do enjoyed watching his interviews and always give me vibes that he was a nice, down-to-earth dude. I was just curious because I wondered what he did that was so bad that left that user with a bad mouth and you're right I shouldn't be swayed by rumors.

There are couple of actors I sort of dislike because I just don't really clicked but I still watched their dramas/shows regardless. A good example would be Lee Byung Hun. He has quite scandals but he's a good actor that I still watched his shows so yeah. In all, I was just curious haha :)

Is this about the host rumor? Because I don't think that is true.

I don't like to judge an actor for rumors that tabloids publish because they're usually just not true, or at least not the whole truth. Plus, a Japanese actor recently announced his retirement because of terrible tabloids and stuff. He just got jaded by it all. Sad.

So yeah, of course sometimes it's hard to remove the image of someone doing or saying something from your mind, but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Hiroki Narimiya!!! *SOB*

I adore him, and I was just wondering when we'd get his next drama...never, apparently. He was in so many amazing dramas - he really is a cut above his generation of Japanese actors...now he's gone....

Yep, I became a teeensy bit obsessed with him after Bloody Monday even though he played a psychopath. He was a glorious psychopath lol.

So sad he won't be in anything else anymore. Tabloids suck!

If you are an I-netizen, you have the be really cautious with what you believe because lots of times you get only parts of stories translated to English and not the full context. I can think of a good example involving Park Hae Jin. A few months ago, there were some I-netz who were irate because they believed Park Hae Jin had insulted Kim Go Eun. There was indeed a Korean news article that had a headline about Park Hae Jin saying Oh Yeon Seo (who will play Hong Seol in the CITT movie) was a better sync with the character than KGE. Only the headline was translated to English, so gullible people passed it around on twitter talking about what a jerk PHJ was. The problem was if you read the whole article you realized PHJ never said any such thing. He even said he couldn't compare the two actresses. It was just a click-bait headline and all the k-netz wrote angry comments on the article about how false and misleading the headline was.

I have no idea what specifically you are referring to, but see this as a lesson in why you need to be cautious about making judgements if you are don't understand Korean (language or culture). I legitimately know of no scandal/ bad rumor about Park Hae Jin that hasn't been debunked by someone who knows better.

That said, I am personally super excited for Man to Man. It is filled with good actors/actresses, has a great writer, and has been releasing some intriguing stills. Ultimately, none of us know or will know any of these actors personally. I would prefer to judge them on their creative work (as long as they are not hurting anyone).

Because they understand kdrama have fangirls all over the world. So, maybe one day when we're lucky when we walking out to get some soap in a little shop across our apartement, we can see 'park hae jin' passing by. And we might just goes 'wow! That guy looks a lot like park hae jin!'
And the next day you read a new post in db that saying park hae jin shot his new drama in your neighborhood and you go "WHATTTTT???!!!"
'Park hae jin' already return safely to korea.
The end.
Fangirl and actors that coincidentally meet in unusual places end up dating then married and be happily ever after is never happen in real life because of this ?

This happened once to me! When I was working at our store a woman and a man ordered some food and I was just thinkíng, :'Huh, you know her, don't you?' And immediatly when both left i thougth:' Ah, yeah, that one drama she played XX and so on.' It's not like i liked her a lot or knew her much, but .... wasted opportunity, could have asked her about her Co-Stars (OMG!!! Still can't believe I missed my chance ...)

I was watching Seven First Kisses, and I passed out after watching LJK in the first two episodes. Came to, and went on to watch Episode 3, saw PHJ and promptly passed out again. This guy is so swoon-worthy romantic, and has that dark edge that makes him so compelling....I couldn't take my eyes off him the entire episode, such an intense, charismatic actor. So happy he's back, he's more than a goodlooking face, this guy can ACT.

His hug scene with Kim Go Eun in CITT is among the best of hugging scene I have ever watched in kdrama. JUST A HUG but so swoon-worthy and we all want to be Kim Go EUn just for that hug.

Don't feel stupid. I can't believe in retrospect that I watched all of You Who Came from the Stars and literally thought that while Park Hae Jin was good-looking, he wasn't my type. Ha! I realized after CHeese in the Trap he was exactly my type (maybe it's the whole bad boy thing). I'm at least proud that I realized he was a talented actor in YWCFTS since the whole reason I tuned into CITT was because it starred "that really good second lead from YWCFTS." (I should point out that I marathoned YWCFTS long after it aired, so I coincidentally fnished it just a month before CITT began.)

I could care less about his past or what he says. I just don't care for him much as an actor. He can only do one thing well, stare ominously. That all he's good at, luckily looks like he's taken another role that plays to his only strength. I also don't find him all that attractive. I hate his veneers.

Well you care enough to read an article about a drama he's staring in and take time to comment about how much you don't care....
But don't worry we're not going to force you to care about or like him. :)

Anyway this will be my first JTBC drama since Secret Love Affair so I'm very excited, very eager to be pleased, I hope I love it as much as SLA, and that this drama does justice to Park Hae Jin's skills. Amen.
