Buoyant atmosphere at Suspicious Partner script read

SBS’s upcoming rom-com drama Suspicious Partner just held its first script read, and it looks so cute already. Ji Chang-wook (The K2)) is starring as a prickly tsundere prosecutor—the epitome of a sexy brainiac—while Nam Ji-hyun (Shopping King Louis) will be playing his love interest, an energetic new judicial trainee who breaks through the walls of his heart.
She’s an outsider who becomes involved in a suspicious case, and together they fall in love as they work together to get to the bottom of this mystery. Previous character synopses say that she is supposed to have been a professional martial artist who suddenly decided to pursue a law degree instead. I wonder if the catalyst for her career switch may be somehow related with the case.
PD Park Sun-ho, who co-produced Legend of the Blue Sea and Jackpot, is taking the lead on this project, and Protect the Boss’s writer Kwon Ki-young is in charge of the script. Welcoming their actors and staff, PD Park said: “Making precious bonds with each other, let’s have fun on set, and let’s work hard try to create beautiful pictures that we will be proud of.” Writer Kwon added that she was honored to work with everyone that she would do her best.
The two second leads Choi Tae-joon (Missing 9) and Hello Venus idol member Nara were also present at the script read. Choi, who is real-life besties with Ji Chang-wook, will be playing his friend in the drama, who is a lawyer that grew up without a lot of love. It was reported that the production staff were surprised at how reliable Nara’s acting skills were at the script read. So it looks like Suspicious Partner is coming along well.
Wednesday-Thursday drama Suspicious Partner will begin airing on May 10.

You know there were politics involved in casting when the production is surprised about an actor's skill after casting and not before >.<
There's been a number of surprises this last year with idol casting, so hopefully Nara is one of the good ones.

Nam Ji Hyun looks so different from her Bok Shil avatar! Her smile is infectious. Plus Ji Chang Wook and those glasses- damn sexy!! They seem to make a very cute couple and Tae Joon is like cherry on the cake.

I still remember her first scene in Shopping King Louis where she appears on TV with that as-wide-as-possible smile! I became her fan with that one scene. Yes- it was like love at first smile (which is quite similar to Park Bo Gum's smile)

I totally did a double, no triple-take, cuz I didn't recognize her immediately. She looks so different from Bok Shil! But even as one of our favorite country bumpkins Bok Shil, she was charming and endearing and cute in a very simple way. Now she looks like the modern young lady she is... ??

I also hope Nam Ji-hyun's character is a bit different from her last two. She's great, but she needs more diverse roles. Ironically, the character of hers that seemed the least naive/bubbly was from Angel Eyes when she was still a child actress. I really enjoyed her playing a more prickly character there.

Confession: I stopped watching at the moment Nam Ji-hyun told Kang Ha-neul to never disappear from her side (because we all know what that's leading up to). To me, Angel Eyes is like a really short and sweet drama special lol. I always planned to watch again if the adult part was up to par, but I never found myself tempted. The first episodes were plenty satisfying.

@chandler I watched that whole show but I still consider those first few episodes one of the best mini-series ever. Kang Ha Neul and Nam Ji Hyun were adorable together! Oh now I am hoping for them to come together in a show again... Kang Ha Neul deserves a lead role now!

I dropped TK2 around episode 11. Even JCW couldn't save the show for me, cuz the logic was nowhere to be found in that series. Idk. It just didn't work for me, albeit the action part in its first episodes were kind of epic.

I hope they don't make him use his martial arts skills as an attorney. I remember during filming of K2, JCW was getting physically exhausted because of all the fight scenes. Hopefully this time he can get a break from that. He's gorgeous any way you look at him - whether he's playing a thug or a prosecutor, and in whatever he wears - whether jeans and a tank top or a suit! Keeping fingers crossed for a hit drama for him & NJH!

You had me at "prickly tsundere prosecutor". But really, everything about this sounds right up my alley: legal drama, mystery, romance, and glasses. Not to mention a female character with martial arts training. I don't care how much of a cliché it can be, I always love to see women who can defend themselves (and their loved ones) if need be. Yes! I can't wait for this. I hope the premise is executed well because I actually find the idea of the leads being stuck in the villain's own personal murderous time-loop to be really compelling.
I also love when leads are partners-in-crime before falling in love so I look forward to the romance. I really wanted a bit more working together between the leads in SWDBS. But, with the villain's amnesia, in this drama we can hopefully expect a lot to happen to our leads every episode! Lol, I probably shouldn't be excited about that, but hey, I like when there's drama in my drama.

Glad to see her in more prime time dramas. She did balance school and acting well. Since she graduated from university already she has the time to focus on her acting career.
Can't wait for Kim Yoo-jung, Jin Ji-hee, Kim Hyang-gi, Seo Shin-ae etc to be done with school so we can see more of them in dramas/films.
I love Korea's talented child actors. I've seen some of them grow up on tv into some of the industries finest young actors.
(Hi Yeo Jin-gu, Shim Eun-kyung, Moon Geun-young etc).

yay a drama where JCW isn't an undercover-agent-fight machine! I adored him in Healer but dropped K2 after a couple of episodes. Even put myself through the Lotte mini-series for him lol
