You that feeling when you found out your first love is getting married? There's this sense of bittersweet feeling you have no right to feel but you do? Even though you're happy for that person because for one thing, you're not involved with each other? That's how I felt when I found out Eric Mun's getting married on July 1st.

Well, I think it is alright that you have this sense of feeling. You are human after all. The reason I said this it is because after a while will definitely wish all the best luck for him from your heart my dear.

But I am genuinely happy for him. It just feels weird I guess. When you have liked a single person for years and you found out he's getting married. Some boundaries are made in my mind lol

Eric was on a variety show Three Meals A Day. He was the guy who made most of their dishes. His dishes were so impressive that everyone was so surprised because they weren't expecting him to be that good. :D

I also felt the same way. My friends and I used to joke about going to Korea and marrying our Oppas. One of my friend even dreamt of Shinhwa visiting us (in our country)! But then this news...and it's just sad. I think this is true for loyal fans, we want them to be happy, but we just can't help being sad.

This is a good opportunity for me to vent about my frustration of the week. Those last couple of scenes in Strong Woman Do Bong-soon! I know its all about the humor found in the reversal of traditional gender roles, but geez...Bong-bong needs to factor in her hubby's and children's well being, given their unique situation. It just gave me a sour feeling the way it played out. They could have ended on a lighter note, if she had said on the phone something like, "I know, I know, hang on, help is on the way," and then Min-min answered the door and it was Granny. Because, seriously, I would doubt that Min-min is going to last till the girls are old enough to be trained by him.

Same here. As much as I love SWDBS, the ending felt soo wrong for me. I know she felt the need to play hero, but she should also be aware of her daughters' strength and shouldn't have left her daughters for other people to take care of. And shouldn't their powers be a secret, so why hire nannies to take care of them.
There were so many unnecessary scenes with the gangs, the fake indian monk, and the hospital scenes, when they could have used those times to solidify Minmin's family background. And where are they on his wedding?
HeeJi and BongKi went nowhere. Although I liked that part where BongKi fed KyungShim during their picnic, I felt that they could have tried to create something out of that instead of the many fillers.
I just really love Bongbong and Minmin, so much chemistry between PHS and PBY so this is still one of my fave 2017 drama. I'm just sad thinking it could have been really epic if the plot is more solid.

she should have become a comic book style caper hero right after her training. the show spent too long on the injured gangsters and they had no big part to play in the end. this drama lacked concentration, it reminds me of a group of kindergardeners in the museum, their attention span is just as limited. Gong Shim had no real conclusion either. I wanted more things in Min Hyuks´ Batcave. They should have become heroes together. Like, his superwoman tunrs him into a superman.

I got very optimistic after the training episodes that the lead characters would be the ones taking initiative to drive the story forward, but then it was like the show decided to divide itself up between their romance development, the gangster scenes, and the kidnapping plot and by the time all those things came together, we missed out on a lot of what we wanted to see from the characters.

Nothing...felt very well connected in this show, especially in those later episodes. The drama's world would have completely come apart if it wasn't held together by the strong chemistry and charming writing of the leads.

Quote "The drama's world would have completely come apart if it wasn't held together by the strong chemistry and charming writing of the leads."

This! It was the H/h's relationship/chemistry and moments that carried this show.

Actually I would've liked the drama more if Bong Soon didn't have any superpower, and instead we got to see her journey to getting her cute game to be made. In this way we would've avoided all the over-the-top plot points, and the ones that didn't make a lot of sense also. There also wouldn't have been the gangsters, unless they were integrated in a different and more toned down way. We also might've avoided all the poop jokes.

Anyways SWDBS remains one drama I really like, because of the H/h and their moments. I just pretend that the last 4 minutes of the last episode don't exist, and I still get a full last episode with a satisfying ending!

Your alternate ending would have been adorable, @lizj58 ! Or even her own mum popping by to offer some help would've been nice - I still feel like mum's character was able to get away with bullying (or domestic abuse even) without much retribution, which I the show never really resolves and doesn't sit well with me (nor does it with most of you it seems, from what I've been reading in these comments!).

I agree with you. I was a little disappointed about that part as well. It totally makes much more sense that MH would ask Grandma to come and stay with them to help take care of the kids rather than the gangsters. She wouldn't be in danger of getting hurt and could give both parents some pointers. Also would have liked to see perhaps BS Dad show up to give help/ advice to MH since he was in the same position with baby BS. I love your alternative ending with BS contacting Grandma and her showing up at the door to help poor MH.

The whole drama actually pissed me off so much, I wanted to know if I was watching a different drama than everybody else because I was angry and going "wtf" a lot when most people seemed to really like it. I suppose Park Hyung-sik and Park Bo-young were cute but I hated Ji Soo's character, I hated that they wrote the one gay character in the most ridiculous caricature way possible, I mean screaming like a banshee all the time, some of the dialogue e.g. when Sec Gong said Oh Dal-pyung was wearing spoon for bracelets like an African chief, and them floating around the idea that Bong-soon's mom was physically abusive and then playing it off as a joke.

I am so happy to see this comment! I felt the same way - like I must be watching a different show than everyone else. I liked the main couple, but the rest of the show was awful. The stereotypes, the husband abuse, the stupid gangsters. It was awful. I didn't even watch the last two episodes. Abuse is not funny.

It just ain't my kinda humor I guess.

I know what you mean.....this show *smh*..... it made me first excited then frustrated, annoyed and finally disappointed. I liked the cuteness between the 2 main characters but that's about it. And I didn't even like Bong Soon completely...I have written once before why I thought this show didn't work for me but all in all...it just seemed too in-your-face with it's humor and horror (and everything else really, also the romance but that at least I didn't mind) and it also felt....somehow lazy in a way? Like there is this scene in the hospital for example, when Bong-soon is drying MH's hair where Hyung-sik makes a certain combination of noises twice lol okay let me transliterate: there was a moment where it felt like they shot the scene twice and put parts of BOTH versions into the final cut. (ep. 9, 52 min - yes, I did just went and looked for the exact moment and it took me surprisingly little time to find) It's just a tiny moment but it made me realize what I had already started to believe long before: that somebody half-assed his job on this. There was just something about this show that almost left me feeling a bit offended....like they didn't bother to put the pieces into a coherent whole but instead just wished for the viewer to do it for them.....So many times I read peoples comments on this show and thought: "Ah, so that's what the character is probably thinking; that's the possible motive behind their actions; that might be what the story wants to tell us." And I wouldn't say that I usually am bad at empathizing with characters or reading between the lines either..... It made me question a bit the priorities of the people that made this show. Well, their priorities were probably right considering it's success but at least I ,personally, couldn't get completely behind this piece of work.

For all the people who DID enjoy it: I don't mean to ruin your fun (that's why I also didn't really write anything on the later episode's recaps) this is just meant as a reply to Ek Ladhki Thi.

Hello, how are you? Yesterday I taught monoprinting to a japanese family and felt so strange - like, here I am, estonian girl trying to teach a fish to swim, people from the land that has such a rich ukyo-e printing tradition. am I insane? but they enjoyed it a lot, the little kid thanked me in english and it was aww! this is why I learned to be an art teacher.

the weather is so terrible, last weekend we planted radishes, parsnips and pak choi in snowfall and the stuff in my window boxes doesnt seem to grow any at all.

watching:
Chicago typewriter - so eccentric and kick-ass, I just love the strange vibe, Yoo Ah In´s acting, he is so dedicated but what I like most is that the drama has attitude, like it is kicking a fire hydrant and it surrenders. some kind of inexplicable pride.

Radiant office: so slow, but nothing is unecessary. All the characters still get development. everyone takes steps forward slowly but firmly. I especially like Ji Na. I want to cheer her up with something, for putting up with jerk Yoon Jae and the ungrateful work. If I were her, I would have exploded in rage already long ago, I dont have such self-control. I am only up to ep 11, hope she and Ki Taek get back together. The girl seems to be on the verge of a breakdown if she doesnt have someones´back to lean on. Ho Won has Woo Jin to confide in. We see people who are there for each other, and then we see some egotripping chiefs. this ep made a lot of good points that anyone can take along to life.

Rewatching Shopping King Louie just because. After Louie, we´ve seen a surge of sweetie boyfriends. SWDBS & WLFKBJ. Min Hyuk did remind me of Louie in a lot of ways in being so extra all the time and so supportive and warm, but he was more reserved about his state of mind in the beginning. Louie was more matter-of-fact what he was feeling, just said it without hesitation. but their common point is, both were brought up without the warmth and care of their parents, but grew a very big an generous heart despite that. It is like the theme of past season has been "People who bring themselves up well" vs psychopaths, who turn evil instead.

do dramas portray the "Millennials" now? We see different types of characters lately. They have become a bit more hipster, more independent, having learned to rely on their own survival skills, a bit more off-beat and riding a different frequency than the previous generation of characters. Young creative professionals? the new human? How to put it.

monoprinting is basically leaving 1 copy of any kind of image on paper without a permanent stencil or matrix, like painting a picture, turning it upside down and pressing it against another paper, or using everyday objects that are dipped in paint and stamping shapes on paper with them.

Hello everyone! I have been in such a drama rut since January, unable to concentrate on any new shows evee since I watched NIRVANA IN FIRE.

That show completely broke my heart and tok my breath away. I loved almost everything, the sprawling cast of characters, the interesting plotlines, the superb acting, and that heartbreaking (b)romance between the two male leads, Lin Shu and Jingyan. (I thought Goblin and Moonlight Drawn by the Clouds had the ultimate BroTP, oh no, NIF beat everyone to it).

I loved all the performances, my favourites were Jingyan by Wang Kai (who truly sold my BroTP) and Consort Jing by Liu Min Tao (non-scheming, perceptive with a hint a steel) and Fei Liu by Wu Lei (he's deadly and adorable-how did he manage to pull that off? Haha). And my OTP is Jingyan/ Lin Shu |Mei Changsu forever.

I'm on my third watch right now, after having gone through the entire fanfiction archive on archiveofourown, looking at pictures and gifs on tumblr and fanmade MV's. The last show that left me so devastated was Moonlight srawn by the Clouds.

So I would love to commisserate about this show with some kindred souls here, and if you have any cool links, recommendations, or opinions to share, I'd love to hear them. :D

I would personally recommend the Disguiser (a Chinese period drama set in the 1930s-40s during the Japanese occupation of Shanghai). It brings back Hu Ge, Wang Kai, Jin Dong (Lin Chen), Liu Min Tao ans a few familiae faces from NIF. Its pretty brilliant.

There's also Ode to Joy, Legend of Zhen Huan and Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms that I recommend . :)

Oh my goodness, I had a kdrama slump recently (Introverted Boss ended, had no time to start a new one, and the ones that seemed good were running half-way so I felt like I couldn't catch up) so I decided to watch something that completely finished airing. I knew NIF was frequently reccomended on DB so it was my choice!

I finished it in 4 weekends, haha. Everyone slowly finding out and Jingyan staying in the dark was so funny but also painful.

And YES, consort Jing is the best. I want to be like her when I grow older, haha. She stayed out of all the political fights in the inner Court when Jingyan was not interested in the Crown Prince position, but once he told her he wanted it, she got into action and was like "I will protect my son." Wew.

I like to look at tumblr gifs! I think nifproject on tumblr makes some. Also, I got through the drama by reading recaps on http://dr-myri-blog.blogspot.com and the comments!

Which pieces have you read from AO3?

Haha, I know. Every time I asked for recommendations, people would suggest NIF. I stopped watching it 3 times (I was upto episode 5), till I went back, read up thoroughly and then watched.

Jingyan staying in the dark was a bit strange. I mean they dont call him water-buffalo for naught. I mean so many bits were hilariously painful (when Changsu pulled out his sword during military planning instinctively, and Jingyan just kept looking at him in shock).

Consort Jing is so pretty and graceful, and I do want to be as calm as her when I grow up. She is actually the smartest of all the consorts, she manipulates the emperor so subtly, and protects Jingyan as well. She also protects MCS/Lin Shu as if he is her own, its so sweet to watch.

I read the recaps from that site too. So much fun and love their banter and fangirling!

I have read everything on AO3 actually. Except the fics in Chinese. :P

I've watched it twice now and read the first 26 translated chapters from Novel Updates website (Alas, she has stopped translating). It's been a while that I can't quite remember why I was so obsessed, but I plan to watch it again after I catch up on my back log of dramas... or even if I don't.

Me too! There is another group as well doing the translations, but they're on Chapter 10, I think. Even I cant realise why I was so obsessed. I gave up on this show 3 times before I said, I am going to grit my teeth and watch it. And I fell hard.

I think a lot of it had to so with the really strong ensemble, both characters and the actors who played them. In an ensemble, you tend to forget about certain characters and their impact- but NIF fleshed out everyone so well. Plus the fact that all the plotting was extremely subtle, and more like subterfuge/espionage rather than on the surface.

Also, it had to do with Wang Kai being really amazing in that role of Jingyan. I have a big thing for slash OTP's (eep!) and Jingyan's pining for Xiao Shu totally broke my heart and sucked me in. :P

If you like sickly Hu Ge, I would recommend Sound of the Desert, where his role is similarly frail. Although, its another series laced with terrible angst (Hu Ge is such an adorable human being, how the hell he pulls off such conflicted characters is a mystery to me.)

Funny how after watching a really good drama leaves that hole afterwards. Hard to settle for the run of the mill stuff after watching a masterpiece.
If you haven't already watched it, I'd recommend Three Lives Three Worlds Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. The Legend of Zhen Huan is heavy but good.

OT Week 11. What a lovely, dark, and stormy evening and day today. Between watching Master’s Sun into the morning, and my dog, Ally, hyperventilating because of the thunder and lightning, rest was fleeting. However, I don’t regret a minute of it. There’s something satisfying watching a ghost story with the claps of thunder and flashes of lightning in the background—like surround sound. Kdramas and movies have definitely eased my fears of horror stories just a bit!

So, after 15 episodes of Master’s Sun, I am officially a Hong Sisters fan. This is the second drama in which I’ve seen Kim Yoo Ri, Hong Hyo Jin, and Seo In Guk, but my first introduction to So Ji Sub. The acting is commendable by everyone in the main cast and the story, dialogue and pacing are all definitely on point. However, no one does facial expressions like Gong Yoo, no one…and if someone would like to offer up another actor that does, please do, I’d watch them. It’s been fun reading the recaps and commenters from 4 years ago. Some of you are still here! (I’m looking at you @redfox, who I hope has seen some of Star Trek because, yes, So Ji Sub is basically Spock in his grey and mustard sweaters—as logical and unemotional as he can be.)

Otherwise, I finished Legion (FX, cable) this week as well. So good, imaginative, amazing special effects and cinematography, if not a little freaky, but very engaging.

Last weekend was a family weekend and we saw my husband’s parents and siblings’ families for Easter. On the way down there, he mentions…

Husband: I never noticed how big my eyes are.

Me: *WHAAAT? Why are we talking about this?* Well, you don’t have a monolid, so they would appear bigger.

Husband: I could pass for a Korean celebrity, don’t you think?

Me: *Really amused by this point since I dreamt a couple week ago that he was Yeo Jin Goo* I’m sure you could…let me go find one that’s your doppleganger…

*Later that evening…*

Me to sister in law (who is also a kdrama fan): My husband thinks he looks like a Korean actor, we need to find his brother from a Korean mother.

Sis In Law: *not even 30 seconds later* I found him !…
Me: *Looking at her Iphone* Who is that? He’s too pale, but he looks a lot like the husband.

Sis In Law: *Kim Hyun Joong* He was in Boys Over Flowers and Playful Kiss, and is embroiled in scandals.

Me: Intrigued. *Goes to look up Kim Hyun Joong*

Later that weekend:

Me: Look at these pictures, kids. Does your dad look like this guy? *shows kids a side by side of husband 13 years ago and KHJ*

Daughter: *studying picture* They look the same. Are you sure one of these is dad???

Me: *HAHAHAHA.* Yes, honey, one of them is dad before we had either of you. *Still giggling*

Husband: See, I told you I could pass for an actor.
Me: Maybe 13 years ago…

Moral of the Story: All Asians look the same.

2nd Moral: If you want an honest opinion, ask an 8 year old.

3rd Moral:...

I love my sister in laws. This one is actually married to my husband's brother, and so she's married into the family like me. She's been watching Kdramas since she was in high school, so has seen a lot of the older ones which I haven't. Funny story, before she met my brother in law, she and her cousin were planning to go to Korea and audition for a girl group, just for fun! Her cousin, apparently, has learned a lot of Korean and can write Hangul! Meeting my brother in law changed all that though!

I lol'd at your description of So Ji-sub, but you're so right! How he conveys emotions in an emotionless way is beyond me. :p

Lovely family you have! And yes, enjoy Master's Sun. ^__^

Yes, I got my opportunity this week, and am on a deadline, so had to binge it as fast as I could, although, it wasn't very difficult. The recaps enlightened me to all the puns and word-plays that were not clear in the subs. They are great writers. Never has my heart skipped so many beats just because the main lead touched the heroine on the shoulder, LOL!

So Ji Sub in Sorry I Love You, speaking of a different kind of vibe, this older kdrama has it. Haven't seen another one quite like it, either. Here's a crossover - Im Soo Jung, the actress with Yoo Ah In in Chicago Typewriter, is with So Ji Sub in Sorry, I Love You. Let me know if youtry it and like it!

I haven't, but I will now! *puts it on Kdrama-watching list* Gong Yoo is not over-the-top, but conveys everything you need to know in one look, and he has a million "looks."

Ha..ha.. I would say the same for LSG. Hope you enjoy that drama. It's a short one, too, so no huge time commitment needed. And just like you drag your hubby to watch GY with you I do the same with everything LSG. :-)

If you haven't watched High School King of Savvy, Seo In Guk made like more than 20 facial expressions in each episode, he's such a joy to watch in that drama.

I've readily scanned the Rebel recaps on this site, but without much interest. However, I was so bored the other day I thought I might as well watch a couple of clips from the broadcasting channel's youtube page .................................... and was sucked down the rabbit hole.

First, I just clicked on every early scene with Garyung and Hong Gil Dong because Chae Soo Bin is adorable, and that had me squealing of course. But then I had to watch the Avengers slash Seven Dwarves crew do their thing because c'mon, bromance. After that, it only seemed natural to check out Gil Dong's character trajectory and how he started becoming the people's man. And on and on it went. Basically, I marathoned the drama a couple times over in the past week.

As a result, I am terribly impatient and so so excited/scared for what's to come. Historical dramas really do raise the stakes. The angst is so good, but only if Gildong and Garyung have their happily ever after!!! Writers, you can't have him lose his wife to gain his siblings, you hear me!!!

Ga-ryung and Gil-dong are my underrated couple of the year. Their chemistry is so adorable and sweet. I love Min-min and Bong-bong just as much as anyone, but this couple rivals them for me, especially when their story is turning out to be much more epic and heart-wrenching. I actually love how recent events have torn them apart because it's taken their supportive & loyal love to whole new levels. I definitely need them to end up together too!

On top of studying, I'm planning two trips in Germany the first one for a month and the second one for a year. I feel like my head will explode !!
Question : What drama do you watch for releasing stress ?
I'm enjoying every bit of Chicago typewriter and it was a long time since I enjoyed a drama this much ! I'm more invested in the family in Father is Strange than in any other family dramas. I want Ryu Soo Young's character's parents to communicate. I hope being in contact with the other family will change them for the better.

the first telenovela that estonian channels showed was Rosa Salvaje or something. Everyone watched it, but it was at 6pm and I was in evening shift at school (we studied in shifts) so I couldn´t see it. And then there was something about a girl who washed cars on the street and they called her Ash Face? truthfully I dont remember much about telenovelas.

I watched Cuando Seas Mia (When You Are Mmine), Catalina and Sebastian, the leads in these two shows had chemistry out the wazoo plus telenovelas are super popular in my country along with K-dramas. I also watched El Cuerpo Del Deseo, such a good show. I haven't watched any telenovelas since I discovered K-dramas.

Nodame Cantabile was fantastic. Has great music and acting, and is really fun. Do give it a try if you have time.

Hiyokko is an asadora (morning drama). Those have many episodes (15 minutes per episode) but are usually pretty easy to follow.

Personally, it's quite hard to find a good drama for de-stressing. Unless it's a sitcom (Like High Kick series or the currently airing Super Family) or a gem like Reply 1997 that managed to make me genuinely laugh throughout the drama. But my favorite de-stressing method is watching variety show like Knowing Brother, Weekly Idol, or Happy Together.

Hi mango,
Thought I'd mention that I'm recapping Father is Strange. Poor Mi Young, she is surrounded by difficult people that she can't avoid! I love Lee Joon as Joong Hee - his toast with Mi Young to seek revenge on those who have hurt them is quite the set up for disaster. I really love Mom's protectiveness over fragile Dad, but maybe she's been protecting herself all this time with the switch reveal. I'm living with a Korean family vicariously! here's my blog if you want to jump in with your comments!! http://www.cimiart.wordpress.com \/

My guess is that this song will eventually make it to SR's album in the near future, so to keep the music fresh to the viewers' ears, SR and us are made to listen to the raw version. And I agree with @D that the first version contains K's raw feelings (akin to how he recorded "I'm Okay" in Sorim's phone).

What lovely timing, since he has (what's hopefully) an adorable rom-com on the way! PSJ's character gets quite shouty and rude in some of the earlier episodes of She Was Pretty, but I still think the first episode of that drama had a beautiful, mystical quality to it while being firmly rooted in Seoul so it might be worth checking out! And yeah, he does have that kind of aura, doesn't he :3

Of course you fell for Park Seojoon!
I am currently catching up on Hwarang episodes, while She Was Pretty was one of my first K-drama's back then.

His quiet aura makes him a good actor for serious, passionate roles, but he can also be hilarious when and in a way you least expect it.
Sometimes I enjoyed his unexpected, unintentionally hilarious antics more than *gasp* Siwon goofing around
(and Siwon is hilarious, but that goes without saying).

Even though I have yet to have a favorite drama by PSJ, I have watched several of his dramas, "She Was Pretty" (okay, cute ending), Witch's Romance (good but drags), Kill Me Heal Me (good but wacky, he was the second male lead), Hwarang (okay with some standout moments). PSJ was very good acting-wise in all of them, despite each drama's flaws.

PSJ is the greatest! He has an very masculine kind of gravity to me while still being so good looking that he's almost a "flower boy" and also being really funny and always has great bromance. I loved him in WR the most, and Beauty Inside, and the movie where he plays a rookie cop (sorry, can't recall the name). I use his ost songs as alarms, he's divine to wake up to!

Hi Everyone! ....... I hope you are all doing well today!

Suddenly, the new cycle of animated ads, the ones that appear above "Recent Posts", are causing havoc with my laptop! Especially the "I Wish You A Merry Christmas" one. Either the site page or my laptop freezes or I can't click on my "back" button. Is this happening to anyone else??

Watched this week:

Defendant - Finally finished this! ....... But left wondering exactly why Jung-woo lost his memory, other than attributing it to the shock of the events.

Perfect Wife - Oh my goodness, when Lee Eun-hee walked in on Jae-book and Jung-hee's family dinner, when she let herself in ..... and just stood there!! How creepy was that?

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon - Half-way through ep 13.

Mystery Queen - I'm kind of curious how Seol-ok and her prosecutor husband ended up together, because even though they've had limited time onscreen together to make a real evaluation at this point, they seem like such a mismatch.

That's all for now. ....... Everyone take care and have a great Friday!

I'm stil on windows 7 so don't know how things work on new OS. The other thing you can try is disable javascript that will stop ads from loading. If using firefox then try "no script" Plugin.
Also, Check on bottom left of browser - You will see which element is loading and taking time to load [timeout]. Then bang target that element alone. I always used firefox so most comfortable with it i use various plugins to block out most of the annoying things.
You must try F12 Button and developer box will open. Then check console and Network tab. It will tell you exactly what the problem is.
