Park Hae-jin stoically endures indignities for Man to Man trailer

With a week till premiere, Man to Man has released a long trailer that gives us a better look at what we’re in for. The upcoming action-spy drama stars Park Hae-jin (Cheese in the Trap) as “a ghost operative, a shadow without a name.” For an undercover mission, he becomes the personal bodyguard of a famous stuntman-turned-actor, played by Park Sung-woong (Remember—Son’s War), but ends up in a strange love triangle with Park Sung-woong’s No. 1-fan-cum-manager, Kim Min-jung (Master of Trade—Inn 2015).

The trailer begins with Park Hae-jin as Kim Seol-woo, aiming sniper rifles, flying across rooftops, and introducing himself as a covert agent. But the next thing we know, Kim Min-jung is congratulating him for passing an interview, while he just stares blankly. In a swanky hotel suite, Seol-woo gets briefed on his next mission, which is how he ends up in the Hallyu star’s orbit.

That star is Yeo Woon-kwang (Park Sung-woong), who brags in an interview about his reasons for success: “First, because I did well, and also because of my first-rate staff.” A staff that includes Kim Min-jung, who sighs, “How can a person be so perfect?”

But of course he’s human, and we see the star making out with a woman in a car and being jerked awake by bodyguard Seol-woo. Manager Do-ha (Kim Min-jung) thinks that Seol-woo is exactly the type that Woon-kwang hates, and based on the star’s reaction, he agrees. Perhaps they aren’t allowed to fire him, because Woon-kwang and Do-ha conspire to make the job as difficult as possible to force the bodyguard to quit. Woon-kwang demands that he stay close to him 24/7, gets him to wear an embarrassing teddy bear costume, and even ropes him into rehearsing lines with him (which ends with Seol-woo declaring, “I can’t betray you, Oppa!”).

Seol-woo complains to his boss about what he’s going through, but he’s told to endure for the sake of the mission. So when Woon-kwang ignores manager Do-ha’s attempt to control his diet and runs off with a drumstick, it’s Seol-woo who catches up to him and snatches it away.

In the next few scenes, manager Do-ha explains all of the ways she finds the new bodyguard suspicious. But she wavers when he turns the full force of his charm on her, telling her that she’s pretty, buckling her seatbelt, and carrying her in his arm. He also tries to convince himself that it’s just another job and she’s just another target. But that seems far from the truth, and the trailer ends with his voiceover: “There’s something off about this mission.”

JTBC Friday-Saturday drama Man to Man will premiere on April 21.

I'm excited, hopefully it'll be good and help me to move on from Strong Woman, Do Bong-Soon.

My heart was so lonely when Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo ended. I was patched up by Strong Woman Do Bong-soon and was crushed, once again, when it ended.
If this drama takes my heart again, I can see what will happen to my heart. This is an endless cycle, chingu.

Has anyone actually figured out how this is going to work, and does this mean we cannot watch on Dramafever or Viki.......

Why Kim Min Jung??? I don't mean to sound like a hater but...oh well, my immense love for PHJ might change how I feel about casting her.

I watched her in The Merchant with Jang Hyuk, Fashion 70s and Thorn Birds as I recall. But she is quite forgettable imo. I dont think the acting will be a problem, my problem is her hair. She doesnt have to be so fashionable, but at least her hair should be done better. I dont think she pull it off this style.

She has been acting since she was 6yrs old. If you had seen her dramas and movies when she was younger you'd love her.
I'm watching for her and Park Sung-woong. I don't get the hyped over PHJ.

She's good, she was in 2014's Gap-dong, her role was that of a psychologist for inmates...and she was good

I didn't always like her but she grew on me.
She was the saving grace in her last drama even with Jang Hyuk in it imo. I liked her in New Heart too although I didn't get to finish it.

If Kim Min-jung can held her own among heavy weight actors like Han Suk-kyu, Oh Dal-Su etc then she'd be more than fine beside Park Sung-woong.

I was reading more on the release date from Netflix. It seems Netflix will simulcast it everywhere but the US. I couldn't find a date for the US release for part 1, let alone part 2. Does anyone have further information on this?

I couldn't find anything official, but the plan for the US release is for 2 parts of 8 episodes each, so they probably won't release it until after episode 8 airs, which is 4 weeks into broadcast. I'd look for Part 1 to come the week of May 14, and then Part 2 to be posted week of June 12. If we are lucky, they would put everything up the day episode 8 and episode 16 air (May 13 & June 11) I really hope they don't make us wait longer than a week after episode broadcast.

and it really bummed me i couldn't remember what is the title of that fanfic.

Thanks for thinking of me! ?I wonder if it would be suspicious if I recommended this air purifier to all my patients. The company would be like, "So it looks like that Gong Yoo kitty ad increased our sales, but a significant portion is going to this middle of nowhere town in the US. Maybe we should go there and check it out--and maybe bring Gong Yoo with us." Yes, please! ?

Park Hae jin has acted with other actresses too...in My Daughter Seo Young , he romanced two different women, and had chemistry with each. He just has a natural knack of bonding with his female lead, so no worries on that account. I fast forwarded to all his scenes in that drama...loved him there!

I AM READY (ok maybe not) to move on from SWDBS! Or at least, I need to attempt to. Is this short bob hairstyle a thing these a days, or do all of JTBC's female leads need to have short bobs? It reminds me of BS :p I can't wait to catch the first episode of this show!

Aw man, the bromance keeps lookin' better and better! I'm curious to know what the "real" mission is. When Park Sung-woong gave Kim Min-jung a foot massage, I was just like, "Oh please don't let there be a love triangle..."

2

Required fields are marked *

Yes, what is this mission that he has to put up with wearing teddy bear costumes and rehearsing lines for?!

I don't think there'll be a love triangle because Park Sung-woong's character has a first love who's married to the evil guy, wouldn't she need rescuing?

I don't have any problem with Kim Minjung. I watch her previous drama and I like her. I just expect that women (and men, too) over 30 should be level headed, rational and not chatty so I am kind of turned off if I see the opposite. Lol.
I like Park Hae Jin to bits and I actually prefer him playing cold character than romancing someone. He looks the best for that role (for me).

At first seems only bromance but now I'm curious about romance triangle and about the actress, I don't remember her in any of my drama list.

I hope they will show it on Netflix Italy. It's really hard to find drama in our country. This copyright thing it's really painfully, specially when I pay a lot of subscription (Netflix, Amazon, sky and viki) and still can watch what I really want!
