[Survey] Answer questions, win 100 Beanie points

You’ve probably heard us mention a few times now that along with the new site redesign, we’re looking for ways to grow and add new features to the site, like a store where we can sell Beanie merchandise, among other things. But before we launch ourselves headlong into new endeavors and partnerships, we wanted to ask all of you for your help in giving us some feedback on your drama-watching, drama-reading, and drama-spending habits.

So we’re asking our readers to take the short 5-7 minute survey below (or via this link), to share a little bit about your drama addiction and its accompanying side effects. To show our appreciation for taking the survey, we’re awarding an extra 100 bonus Beanie points to each and every person who participates.

(Beanie points, in a nutshell: Registered users gain points for various activities, such as writing comments, posting on your fan walls, and following and being followed by others. Earn points, level up! For those of you keeping track, 100 points is the difference between starting out as a Candy or a Jang Geu-rae.)

  • The survey will be open for two weeks until Monday, June 5.
  • If you want to claim your 100 Beanie points, please make sure to fill in the email address associated with your Dramabeans account in the last question.
  • The survey is open to anyone, regardless of whether or not you have a registered account on Dramabeans.

Thanks, Beanies!

Just took the survey and it dawned on me that you didn't ask about Variety Shows - I love Running Man, Scene Stealer and 1 Night 2 Days!!

Some dramas i wait for the recap n then decide if i wan to watch. Some r gd enuf for reading recap but not watchin. Or for the whole thg to finish airing then marathon

Watching Goblin got me interested in Quebec - I'll be visiting this summer and even staying in the hotel Kim Shin "owned". Never would have thought to visit our friendly neighbors to the north if not for that show.

Quebec is lovely. I really liked Vieux-Quebec, so historic and charming, really nice to walk through and soak in the vibe. Montreal is also very nice and worth a visit. Enjoy your visit!

Watching dramas has really sparked my interest in Korean culture. I'd love to travel to South Korea someday but I need to develop a travel group or something. My husband humors my drama addiction but I'm not sure he'd travel to South Korea with me to go get Subway.

LOL @ the Subway part!!! XD

But I'm the same. I would love to visit S. Korea and this desire grew from watching kdramas/listening to kpop. However, I'm the only one in my family interested in S. Korea.

You should probably mention to him. My husband doesnt care for kdramas but he knows when im hooked on dramas n somtym i tell him whats d latest drama that got me so wired. We visited seoul jeju n busan n it was a trip i proposed. Ur husband may be willing to travel with u, its stil vacation n theres lots of other places to eat other than subway.

I forgot one thing that now turns me off a drama: too much Subway. But clever and hilarious product placement can work in the dramas´ favor (think Maxim coffee...)
why cant they switch Subway to organic hummus or something bizarre. litchi fruit? or demonstrate eating grasshoppers as IF it was product placement?

Some questions difficult to give one answer for, because more than one answer was correct! Just gave the "best" answer for those questions (e.g., time of day watching dramas).

Your question #16 of which time of the day do I most often watch K-dramas! Haha, it starts out in the afternoon all the way into the wee hours of the morning! It’s the “just one more episode…” feeling. Also, because I know I won’t be able to sleep, not knowing what will happen next. Those who don’t watch dramas may think I don’t have much of a life, but K-drama is life! ;)

I am a south Indian (23) k drama fan/ addict for past 4 years. I just took a survey myself to know how many dramas I have watched so far which resulted 115 dramas only..... I know other beanies have watched more than this number.....
My intro to k drama was by a small dare.... I teased my friend who was watching a k drama (ofcourse, Boys Over Flowers) saying how could she be addicted to such geners (I am a huge fan of mystry/thriller), so she gave me just 10 eps of the drama to watch over in the weekend and not ask for the complete series as a dare.... ???? I did'nt have much work so I marathoned the eps and imagine my disstress the whole sunday (I did not know there were sights to see them at that time). I lost the dare and became an addict and imagine my happiness when I found City Hunter and Iris. I dont know how I manage to complete my master degree inspite of my addiction......
I was married few months ago and am trying to make my hubby a k drama fan ???

number 9 :
When I really like the drama : I watch the episode first then read recap
When I'm not excited about the drama (Hwarang, Moon Lovers) : I read recap first then watch the episode
When I don't like the drama : I only read recap

Since this is a post on survey to improve the website, hopefully this is a good place for taking in some comments I might have.

I wish the post of the recaps are more timely like before. I miss those days when the recap of an episode would be up on the same day it aired. Javabeans and Girlfriday usually did this. Hopefully I don't come off as demanding, but dramabeans is the home of recap episodes, and it just somehow disappoints me that a recap doesn't come up until 2-3 days later. I mean, most of us here watch the drama on the same day, and it's always great to have the recap up on the same day while the "giddy" feeling to talk about how awesome or frustrating the drama is still there. For example, I saw first episode of Fight My Way last night, and I kept refreshing the site hoping the recap was up since I was sooooo excited to talk about how fun the drama is, but unfortunately it's not yet :( I wish the recap is up before the next episode airs and spoils us.

I know the recappers and dramabeans squad do this on their free time, but isn't that the reason why you guys added more members in the family? To have more staff posting and keeping the website up to date. So yes, hopefully I don't get bashed for saying this, but I really miss the ~12-hour turnover of recap, and I hope we get to experience those perks again. Hopefully improving the turnover of the recaps is included in your ways to grow. Thank you for always thinking of ways to make your fans feel at home on your site!

Beanie staff should come and see this. I don't think you'll get bashed here since your comment is very genuine and sincere ;) @girlfriday (hehe I just picked one staff member so thanks in advance for reading this girlfriday ;))

Hey guys I had to retake the survey cuz I got an error. I had checked an "other" answer for one of the questions then unchecked it because I realized one of the options was an ok fit. But then the survey insisted I add a comment and wouldn't submit right. Just FYI.

Yes, done with the survey :D ! I like the survey especially the question about the color which came to my mind when I watch Korean series. I was like what? Hehe in a good way ofc.

Watching Korean drama made me cook a lot of Korean dishes! For Beanies who are into food like me, I recommend the recipes by Maangchi. She is gold. I made Bibim-Naengmyeon today and it was so good I doubled the amount I should have eaten. Apart from that, I already tried Bunin-Guksu, Pork Kimji Soup, Bean Paste Soup, Korean Pancake recipe.

I *LOVE* maangchi's site! Although my favourite bibimbap recipe is the chili bibim sauce on Beyond Kimchee - so good! Everything else I know, I know because of maangchi and it's delicious. I love the soups/stews (like the taro soup) during autumn and winter, as well as the more familiar to me through k-drama dishes like kimchi jjigae. Quick, easy and warming to the bottom of my soul!

Yes I KNOW RIGHTTTT *swoon* .. everything I tried (apart from Bean Paste Soup as I just don't like Bean Paste) was so good and I was happy to the bottomest of my soul.. I haven't tried taro soup once may be I should try it. I made Bibim-Naengmyeon again today and I ate that as my breakfast! *screaming emoticon*.

Okay, I needed multiple selections for "reasons I watch k-dramas" because although I selected high production value, I also wanted to select great story line & romance between leads as the reason...because these 3 are the actual reasons I watch k-drama.

This survey made me realized how cheapskate I am, as I barely spend any money other than for streaming drama. Even though there are lots of events in my country, never did once I attend. My homie is like 400 km away from capital city, so I always give up on the idea of attending events. I'm also not into merchandiser because they are tiny and I can't be productive if my desk is full of tiny stuffs (they said blood type B loves their desk empty and it happens in my case). And even though I would surely love to, I have never gone to Korea yet.

I don't dare to call myself k-drama fan after submitting this survey.
