[Winner] K-beauty giveaway: The fairest of them all

It was really nice to spend all week long staring at such beautiful faces on the fan wall! We asked for entries about your favorite beauty looks inspired by dramas for our K-beauty giveaway, and Beanies delivered a boatload of hilarious and inspirational posts, as always.
It probably comes as no surprise that Jeon Ji-hyun was the most popular beauty inspiration, along with regulars Song Hye-gyo, Gong Hyo-jin, and Han Hyo-joo. But I love that Ji Sung and Lee Min-ki made repeat appearances all week long. Hey, there’s something to be said for attainable beauty goals. If oppa can do it, so can I!

I might see where you are coming from, that they should have at least also included one that is actually really about the great make up look but I also understand why they evaluated them the way they did....beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it might spark some discussions if they just select one that's the most beautiful in their eyes, people might not have agreed with them at all and could have been even more "salty" in return. Also, they aren't really make up artists so to judge the look on a professional level might not work either and kbeauty in general is rather similar, that's what this Giveaway contest really showed me the most...it's mostly very light and fresh with a brighter lip and flushed cheeks. There are still some variation but all in all....there isn't that much to differentiate the looks and it just kind of naturally morphs into an appreciation of the actress/actor themselves where it's then easy to just get swayed by your own preferences and also could have resulted in arguments.
I will say though that they should have maybe done a comical turn from the start or made the requirement something like: make us appreciate beauty in all it's forms, either comical or sincerely.
To focus on beauty looks made sense though because of the prize they had to offer.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I was surprised because I was expecting to receive a lot of backlash for my post.
To be honest, I understand where you are coming from. It's true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what one perceives to be beautiful may not be necessarily perceived as beautiful by another hence this can create a huge discussion/backlash if some just happens to disagree.
HOWEVER. What aggravates me the most is this:
"We asked for entries about your favorite beauty looks inspired by dramas for our K-beauty giveaway,...."
"Contest Rules: Post a picture on your fan wall featuring your favorite beauty look from a drama."
Most of the entries above don't particularly feature a 'beauty look' and merely witty comments about beauty/makeup.
DB should've made it clear in the first place that this giveaway is just another rehash of the Goblin meme competition.

I agree with you. I briefly looked at the beanie fan posts while this contest was going on, and a lot of the entries just followed the instructions. Maybe next time, the DB staff can give some criteria as to how the winners will be chosen? I thought it would just be a random drawing, as how would they choose the best beauty look, as indeed beauty is in the eye of the beholder, unless they add a criteria. Kind of like the previous book and ost giveaway, I don't believe they posted the winners, I assumed as well it would be a random drawing as again, how could they choose the winners, based on what criteria? Best written? Most clever? Funniest? Most creative? Longest entry? Shortest? But I think our ladies just like to be entertained :-) as we do too. Giveaways are fun, and definitely make this site much more interactive when there is a lot of participation, but for whoever really puts a lot of effort in order to win, as that is a valid motivation :-), indeed maybe better instructions are needed for a better chance at winning.

I'm sure a lot of participants, not just myself, found this ridiculous. All our time and efforts were put to waste. It would be much appreciated if better instructions were given in the future.
Despite initially thinking that beauty can be subjective and wondering how this contest is going to work, I noticed that they did not mention that they would announce the winners in the original giveaway post - like the previous book and OST giveaway. So I had assumed that it would work if they picked their favorite entry (that actually followed the instructions and is sincere or something) and just privately emailed them. That way they could avoid all the backlash regarding whether a particular 'beauty look' is considered beautiful. Looks like it was not the case. Humor prevails I guess.
*I hold no grudge against the winner(s). I enjoyed their posts and they were very creative. Just displeased by this contest overall.*

I really loved seeing everyone's entries on the fan walls all week, since dramas offer such a wide range of different looks to choose from. I love that all ages and genders were represented. Thanks for including mine here @girlfriday and @javabeans, I'm always glad to amuse others.

Con con CONGRATULATIONS to @vardinihaeyo and allllllll the runners-up! I love the Scarlet Heart concealer one and lol @ the Go Ara expectation vs reality one! I was actually focusing on my fave K-drama makeup looks, so I didn't really joke around too much, but I'm glad there's so much humor in these. Humor and heart always win in my book!
