Script read clip and character stills for tvN’s Criminal Minds

We’ve got some additional stills of our main profilers for tvN’s upcoming crime thriller Criminal Minds, as well as a behind-the-scenes video of the cast’s first script read, which was just released yesterday. It’s always fun to see actors interacting off camera, and we also get to briefly see some of the dynamics at play within the NCI team.

I have to say, Lee Jun-ki (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo) looks pretty convincing in police protective gear, and while I know he’s done plenty of onscreen action in modern setting dramas and otherwise, I only seem to remember those scenes in his sageuk projects. I look forward to seeing him in the present-day with such an action-heavy character. Judging by the script read video, it looks like Lee Jun-ki’s character will also regularly clash with Sohn Hyun-joo’s (Three Days). They’re pretty much at opposite ends of the alpha male spectrum, one level-headed and pragmatic, the other hot-headed and somewhat brash.

Quite honestly, I’m much more excited to see our profilers’ relationships with each other, rather than the actual serial killer cases, though they can be compelling if well-executed and relevant to character development. Hopefully, this cast, which also includes Moon Chae-won (Goodbye Mr. Black), Lee Sun-bin (Missing 9), Go Yoon (Monster), Yoo Sun (Our Gap-soon), and Kim Young-chul (Father Is Strange), can replicate the heart-warming and adorable interactions that makes the original Criminal Minds so watchable. ‘Cause goodness knows I haven’t followed the show for 12 seasons for its serial killers.

Criminal Minds will premiere on July 26 in tvN’s spiffy new Wednesday-Thursday slot.

There's a lot of hype, but I thoroughly expect this remake to be awesome. The cast is really promising. I think this is my favourite look on lee jun ki.

I hope there's some fun cameos, it'd be fun to have some familiar faces play villain of the week

I've never watched the original because it's too much season for me (but I watch NCIS, go figure it ). Happy to see Lee Sun-bin in a new project, since 38 task force when I saw her for the first time, she has been showing potential. I'm looking forward to the premiere.

Just yesterday i rewatched Arang cause I got so impatient and restless and had a bad case of missing Teacher and wondered if there is any news but wait, they were filming already so they are only now getting around to reading the script?

OMG, yes, his voice is really sexy! I remember watching Sweetheart in Your Ear, and if I were PMY, I'd be totally head over heels just by listening to his voice.

I'm so excited but yet so worried that my expectation might be too high. I love loved the original Criminal Minds and I have to agree with tipsymocha, the character's relationships is what kept me watching for the 12+ seasons, and would love to see some of that translate to the Korean remake.

Okay I watched Criminal Minds (American version) once so I totally have high expectation for this drama. It's kinda weird seeing Lee Jun Ki without his wearing hanbok in dramas ( cause i'm like tipsymocha who only remember his saeguk dramas :D) but I bet he'll be looking good in those modern detective costumes plus badge and gun. Cant wait >.<

This must be the first time that I am so afraid to watch the drama! I won't be able to handle the disappointment! I loooove Jun Ki and even more Criminal Minds! (Morgan <3333)

WHOA Lee Joon Ki's ears are a master tier of size. I heard ears are one of the few parts of our body that keep growing as we get older so now I'm imagining him as an old man.
Well, whatever. It does absolutely nothing to taint my image of him hah.
Also.... Moon Chae Won. I didn't get far in Goodbye Mr Black and never will so my thirst is not yet quenched. She looks so good ahh

I have a middle of the road expectation because that's my k-drama comfort zone. I liked but didn't love the original (I no longer watch), but I think it is good to remember that it took more than one season to flesh out the characters especially with a lot of staff changes over the years. NCIS I think actually did it better because they had fewer actors involved. Since k-drama usually does well in this area, I am hopeful but I've been burned by stupidly written cops in Korean dramas sooo many times.

I love Moon Chae-won but her script reading was a bit lifeless, and unenthusiastic compared to the other actors. I hope it's only half-hearted in this occasion, and she will deliver in the actual drama.

I'm excited to watch this for several reasons: I love the original Criminal Minds, I'm generally fond of the Korean cast, and this adaptation is directed by Lee Jung-hyo whose previous works (Cruel City, The Good Wife) I enjoyed tremendously for the great direction. He has a knack for creating a consistent atmosphere from start to finish; he would pick a tone and stick through it till the end. Is it too much to ask for a third collaboration with music director Nam Hye-seung? They worked so well together.

Her script reading is about her analyzing the suspect's behaviour and the cause of death. Unlike the others who are basically arguing. That's what I gathered after watching the english sub.

Actually this was Moon Chae Won in character. She is basically playing Emily Prentiss who in the beginning seemed very analytic and a bit cold but over the cause of the show we got to know about her past/background. And Moon Chae Won was reading a passage which doesn't require big emotions.

So let's wait and see, right? :)

This is the drama I'm looking forward to. :D

I'm very happy to see Moon Chae Won back in a project which looks like a lot of fun for her and also for her as an actress who always wants to try something new to improve herself and widen her range in roles. She is certainly in for the character roles rather than popularity. Even though I think it'll be interesting to see how the Korean viewers will receive Criminal Minds with such a great cast.

So can it be July 26th NOW?
