Truffles or Caviar is the choice for you?! What are you? A daughter of the Khoo family?! Or am I missing some Oppa nicknames ala Apple butt?!

As for choice of irresistible men? No confusion there.. I admire all beauty without discrimination ! ;)

Hi there, fellow countrywomen!

Alas, my family name is not Khoo. I just have the luxury of choosing between two bags of Torres potato chips - Truffles or Caviar.

And I hope I'd never see a truffle shaped or caviar colored butt!

Hi Beanies !

7th week in Germany. I did my first presentation in German this week ! It was my first time doing it in front of a group of only German people and since I was with another German girl it was not as terrifying as I thought. At the end of the lesson, the lecturer congratulated me for doing it. It really motivated me to do more presentations !

An international dinner was organized last night. We had German, Italian, Spanish, French, Chinese and Turkish food :D I and my friends had a hard walking back home since we had too much food.

Funny story : My landlord is actually not my “real” landlord. He's subletting his room so there's a “big” landlord. The “big” landlord came by today at noon to give me informations while I slept in. I was still wearing my pajama and didn't comb my hair when I opened the door. I excused myself in a really bad German (since I just woke up) and he asked me if I wanted to communicate in English. In my messy state I chose English. Such an unforgettable and funny meeting for both of us !

Happy Friday :D

Your big/master landlord seems like a nice person.

I ran into the same situation a few times as well (female tenant caught in supposedly embarrassing situations when I do go back home);
if you ask me, we are just glad that our tenants seem comfortable in the house.

Enjoy your time in Germany! My German clients are really strict, but they are wonderful people.

Se-here’s promise to Ji-ho’s mom that he will not block her daughter’s path to happiness has really stuck in my mind all week. What a wise, realistic, and also surprisingly romantic declaration!!

But my life these past two weeks has blocked my path to happiness by not allowing me to keep up with all of these wonderful dramas on-air. Can I get a divorce from my real life?

I consider Dramabeans part of my real life. This is a precious community which I share my passion, joy, and occasional frustration with (hey ya all my AoY comrades) even if the gatherings only happen in cyberspace.

Isn’t it awesome to find a great space to interact with people around the world who can appreciate and commiserate together?

As much as I often like to see a hero fighting for the heroine’s affection, I actually won’t be dissatisfied if once Se-hee realizes his own feelings toward Ji-ho, he will wait for her to make the decision to come to him. I think it would be a refreshing dynamic and an empowering one for women.

True, I hope Se-Hee will not change a lot and become that bubbly smiley guy, it is not in his character, it is also hard for me to imagine him actually fighting for her, I think he would be respectful of her feelings .

200k for house isn't much. Then buying house on a loan? Then going ahead paying loan for 30+ years when you are already in your mid 30s. Who can call this living a life? Practically it doesn't yield any good returns unless you're a recluse and shower all of your affection on a cat. In fictional world hero's actions always make sense, irrespective of world build around him.

I want to build a house in a posh society. 275k alone is land price+ taxes+ 100k construction costs+taxes + furniture+ yearly taxes+charges and other community fees. But then Your own house is your own and investing 500k on your kingdom isn't much.

But does Korea really have such steep rent deposits? How do normal ppl just starting to work rent at all?! 10-20k dollars for deposit other than monthly rent seems crazy..

I had plan to buy a 2ldk flat around tokyo. Chinese saw this and bang mass-buy properties and increase the price. I find Japan/Korea cheaper than my own place.

I dislike to stay in someone's else's place so never rented a place. For the same reason i never use Credit Cards.

Deposit usually is = 3-4month(quarter) of rent. But in Kdramas it usually 10 times more than that.

I never took any kind of loan. If i ever need money then Family is there. Business proposals bring investment.
I use apps/paypal/Debit Card so hardly even touch physical cash.

Building a home is difficult and a big headache. I want to design my own home and choose every material(brand) myself. Unlike someone buying a small apartment, then going forward with a long rant which makes not much of logic.

Hi Beanies,

I need a life tip on how to put myself out there. Hmmm.
I actually just broke up with my boyfriend, we'd been dating for 5 years, but for the past 2 years, we had quite a rocky relationship and last few days were the stopping point for both of us. I've been depressed about it, but I'm still managing. Kdrama does help a bit, thank God for BTIMFL, Witch's Court and WYWS to keep me occupied. Anyway, I don't think I'm ready to be in a relationship at the moment, but it seems like I don't know how to get to know a new guy in my life. I just don't know how to put myself out there anymore as single.

Required fields are marked *

Give yourself some time love.. from experience if you try to put yourself out there so soon after a long relationship, it's gonna be a terrible rebound relationship.

Also, this is usually a good time to invest in yourself - when being in long relationships.. we sometimes tend to focus so much on the relationship that we forget a lotta things we may have wanted to do - so do try them out!

So time.. and lots of good company of friends.. be yourself and you will meet people naturally over time..

Take care and lots of hugs & kisses !

Sorry to hear about that. I don't know that I can help much, as I'm not in your situation. But maybe just focus on you and being okay with single life for a bit? I know if my husband and I ever part ways I would need to figure out how to be alone AND be okay with being alone before I could get back out there; otherwise I think I'd bring too much emotional baggage with me into a new relationship. As a lifelong single I may not be the best person to offer advice, but I hope my words can provide some comfort.

I keep hearing that it is not easy to adapt to single life again. Not only have you been in a relationship for a long time, which is completely different from being single, you also spent 5 years with one specific boy, and now you have to learn to live without his specific presence and whatever that included.

The adjustment takes time, so use it to your advantage to heal, to distract yourself with other things like K-dramas, and to think about what you want from life and relationships. I think that as soon as you feel ready to tackle relationships again, new guys will pop up left and right.

I too have my moments that I feel like there are no new guys out there, but a lot of it has to do with the fact that I have other priorities at the moment, so I do not notice guys (in a romantic way) because I do not feel ready for them.

If your problem is literally not knowing enough guys, I would suggest emigrating to Oppaland and smuggling me and other beanies in your luggage. ;)

"If your problem is literally not knowing enough guys, I would suggest emigrating to Oppaland and smuggling me and other beanies in your luggage. ;)" LOL that statement is so funny! It reminds me how much comfort oppa(s) can give. Now I can be a full-time fangirl without hurting anyone's feelings for loving another guy in my life. HAHA

Required fields are marked *

Sorry to hear about this. I don't have any advice except maybe to immerse yourself in things which you've never found time to do - a new hobby, pick up a new skill, make new friends or spend time with friends etc. It may look dark but there's light at the end of the tunnel and perhaps a swoony guy too!

5
1
reply

Required fields are marked *

There's nothing to be sorry about. :) Finding swoony guy like Rin might be my hope in the future or maybe in the past to be accurate. Haha

4
reply

Required fields are marked *

I know I may not seem like the best person to give advice but I think you can take it as an opportunity to do all the things you want to do for yourself. Because you don't have to worry about fitting to anyone's schedule or likes/dislikes. So I'd say go out there, try something new or something you've wanted to do but never had the time to. Travel even!

I think you'll meet new people and discover new things about yourself too. And as a side benefit be "putting yourself out there" as well. And who knows, like the kmovie Finding Mr Destiny, your Gong Yoo may be waiting for you! Hee. 😊

6

Required fields are marked *

Not sure if I should be giving advice given my "no bf since birth" stat but, may I suggest to give time - - for some healing, time for yourself etc. Consider, you might need some adjustments given you've been with your ex for a long time. You might have developed some habits which you might need to change now that you're single again.

5
reply

Required fields are marked *

I have nothing to add that the Beanies haven't already said--but I'll repeat a bit :) focus on you. On what you like, who you are as a person and who you want to be as part of a couple when that time comes. Don't rush it. I hear that there are people out there who like being single! Have fun doing whatever you decide to do next!

3
reply

Required fields are marked *

I feel bad that's a horrible feeling. But knowing you did the right thing to promote your own happiness will start to take the upper hand in your mind soon. And I agree with some of commenters that you need to enjoy some of the benefits of of having yourself -to yourself for a bit.

3

Required fields are marked *

I’ll echo all the sentiments above. Take time off of dating for a while, clear your head. Figure out what you want in a guy and relationship before jumping back into one. Good luck! You can guess what I’ll be doing!

2
reply

Required fields are marked *

There is no need to put yourself out there again, I guess that it is probably painful for you to even consider dating another person.

But trust your gut feeling, you will know when the right guy comes along.

Know that happiness comes from within.

Required fields are marked *

My experience is that new relationships come when you least expect them, but only if you get out of the house and put yourself out there, whether that be parties, clubbing, volunteering, classes, whatever. After a four year relationship similar to yours, my friends had a hard time getting me out of the house. New Years Eve came around a few months post break-up, my friends begged, I hesitated, then finally went with them. We were going to be drinking, and buses are free on New Years, so five of us hit the bus. Went to a party, then were on our way to another one, all of us a little drunk, when I noticed this glorious 6'3" shaggy blonde California boy type. "Where's the party?" My friend Tom drunkenly asks California boy and his friend. "Follow us," says California boy. And that's how I met my gorgeous husband of 25 years, on a bus on New Years Eve, and I almost hadn't gone.

My advice then is no matter how low you get, say yes to everything, because you're saying yes to life, love and second/third/fourth chances with every yes you speak.

Hello Beanies!

So last weekend the yearly convention for fantasy, science fiction, anime, Etc. took place in my country. There is also the chance to have a photoshoot with/autograph of attending celebrities, but I never do because I am always broke and a big chicken. There, I admit it.

James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley, Harry Potter) attended, so I planned, as I do every year, on nursing my crying heart and wallet by merely shuffling as close as possible and literally admiring from afar, without getting security on my back.

My friend and lifelong Potterhead was my saving grace by being indecisive over getting her book signed by the twins. An other friend and I had to distract/drag/push her towards the line and stay for moral support for her to make up her mind that yes, she should get an autograph.

We are in line and security comes to check us, no doubt they will throw me and the other friend out for not paying for an autograph… but no! They explicitly tell us we are allowed to accompany our friend, but obviously no autograph or picture for us without paying. Before I realize it I am standing in front of our favorite and very friendly twins.

First they introduced themselves and talked to my friend, because she paid for the autograph. The other friend and I were content to look on fondly as our potterhead fulfilled her bucket list…Until James turned to my friend and I with a “Hello, I am James!” and offered his hand! Oliver followed his example and yeah, I ended up shaking hands with both of them. My brain did not take it very well, because after saying “Hi” twice it completely wiped out. Thank god my friends fared better and managed to hold a small conversation on my behalf.

So I basically got to meet not one, but two celebrities for free! :D I am still shaking and giggling, because wow. Now I hope people will stop shouting “Hello, I am James!” whenever I pass them. It makes me feel silly about something that is kind of a big deal for me.

Hello Beanies! Happy Friday!

I'm back from my trip and back to the usual grind. 😑

But but but!!!!!!

ALLY!!! don't be too jealous ok, but on my last full day in Seoul they had a official Goblin themed live concert 5 min walk away from my hotel!! It had live music (piano, violin, cello, drum) plus multimedia video. Which basically meant I got the Goblin drama condensed into an hour and a half with live music!
😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️

PLUS! (There's more!) all foreigners got a special gift which was either the OST or the soft toy Mr Buckwheat! 😍❤️😍❤️😍

So I got the OST! Hee!!!

So it was totally unplanned but totally FANTASTIC. I bought tickets at the door and was totally spazzing throughout the drama.

Pictures and full story up soon on my blog once I get my work life balance back again. Haha.

This week watched:

Temperature of Love - I'm still in the beginning episodes and all I can say is I completely dislike Hyun-soo's sister. She should be Hong-ah's best friend then those two can keep each other company while feeling awful and bitter.

Witch's Court - It's so interesting that a show that presents very intense, serious topics such as sexual harassment and sexual assault, has managed to weave into the show several laugh-out-loud moments courtesy of our lead character Ma Yi-deum.

Mad Dog - Oh my, this little mystery is not so little! We have dead people not really dead and secrets all around. Really liking this show and the entire Mad Dog Team.

While You Were Sleeping - Just started this and I'm finding it very interesting. ..... I have to say, actor Lee Sang-yub is doing a great job as attorney Lee Yoo-bum because I've watched 4 episodes so far but I've been wanting to smack him since episode 1. He's just up to no good.

That's all for now. ...... If you celebrate the holiday, have a fun Halloween next Tuesday! Take care everyone and have a great Friday!

I haven't started Witch's Court or Mad Dog yet, but I plan on watching them soon; thanks for the info!

Watching,inno particular order:

Memory Lost (C-drama)
While You Were Sleeping
Go Back Couple
Because This Is My First Life
Temperature of Love
Revolutionary Love
The Package
Andante

I think that's it. And working a part-time job or two. So I'm watching, but not making it back here to comment. Rats! Okay, new goals... Or you know, find a life outside my house. But I totally relate to the adorable guys in It's Dangerous Beyond the Blankets.

What are your thoughts on Memory Lost? For a while I was just hanging on with it doing the more routine procedural stuff because I know it was going to get really bizarre as time went on (DramaFever is releasing one episode each weekday). This week began the move into the crazy!

I'm in a little bit of cultural shock at how they handle sexual assault. It seems everything is glossed over as males tending to their biological needs, which is hard to accept from an American viewpoint. The group of main characters are okay, but situations seem to magically resolve. I've seen it in other dramas, Korean, Taiwanese, Chinese, Japanese, and even American shows, but I'm noticing them a lot here. The male lead I recognized from Love O2O, so I'm staying to see how he handles a lead role (sorry if he's been in other stuff as a lead, just not as well-versed on my non-k-dramas).

Cultural differences are what I'm noticing, which is something that greatly interested me when I first started watching k-dramas. Watching all of these dramas has shown me that I need to do a lot of research on cultural norms and ways of thinking for each of the Asian nationalities. I grew up hearing a lot of Arabic (my dad's family) along with English, so Arab cultural norms are what I knew. I know that TV shows exaggerate those norms, but color me fascinated by what there is to learn!

Ok, I just want to say as an objective Suju fan that : Siwon f%cked up.
I hope that he does not take responsibilities that he can't handle next time, and... seriously the letter of the victim's son made me cry, I hope they stop dragging the case for his sake.

Next as an european person, I want to say how happy I am that daylight saving time is finally over this week, cause i means I will sleep more :) :)

as someone who has written 1/3 of an essay on how i adored siwon, this scandal / issue rlly changed my opinions on him and humans in general? i really cannot in anyway not hold him accountable for the death of the neighbour? honestly i think it was more of his fault than that of bugsy, and it really wasn’t right that at the end of the day he was still trying to shirk responsibility and blame other complications etc... the sincerity,,, was just not there.

Since I followed the story from the beginning I felt sorry for him when he first posted the story himself and asked for forgiveness.
But man, his father's half-assed apology, his sister's SNS picture, and then all the flipping mediaplay by his father about "not our dogs fault" made me really question why tf on earth did he not leave his dog in a professional place for dogs (and I know they exist) instead of leaving it with his family.
I was already expecting him to be more out then in during suju promos, since he's always extremely busy. How tf did he think he was capable of taking care of a dog too??
No way. Siwon's next pets for life better be goldfishs, just like Kangin better never drive again since he sucks at it.

Sorry, I just don’t get why it was Siwon’s fault if he wasn’t there, and if his dad is the one who is responsible for the dog being off-leash?

my ears hurt and my head is a little bit on the heavy side. ugh.

I have a busy week, first a movie - didn´t check how long it was, turns out 2 hours 39 minutes! Kusturicas´ Time of gypsies. Great movie though. Yesterday was a concert - this local legend has performed for 50 years and made 1200 recordings. Years of experience give him the kind of freedom to be himself that feels rare. tomorrow, workshop of stamps and a movie again. And then on monday some crazy modern opera. Dad got me crazy cheap tickets for 15, otherwise I would pay 65 euros for one.

Dramas: Witch´s court, acting is good, not sure if I care about the story much. I am fed up with Evil Overlords. why don´t we have an army of green midgets take him down and get it over with, and then spend 6 episodes cleaning Yi Deums´ apartment.
This Life is My First: the dynamics is very unique. it is a less obvious drama.
While you were sleeping: following recaps for now. Less Batman Cop & no Robin, less fizazz
um what else...
WHERE ARE THE ZOMBIES.

Question: best executed & most sensible growth story up to now for a character, main or side?

Halloween is coming. My one day a year to wear a tie. Yes, my costume is to dress up as the kind of person who wears ties.

And guys, you'll get a lot more "Nice tie" comments from the ladies at the office if you wear one once a year than if you wear them every day.

I've just read the recap and comments on BTLIOF ep.6, and boy... I guess my past-drama slump made me forgot that it's DB, and there would be such a long and detail discussion about characters and plot. I was a little bit amazed by the varied opinion because I thoroughly enjoyed that episode and didn't see any 'problem' in there at first lol. This is why I kinda love and hate watching current-airing show. Sometimes the long waiting for new episodes give room to observe many aspects in each episode in detail, and the findings can elevate or lessen our excitement towards the show.

I love Park Bo-young and know she is a great actress, but when she won Best Actress Award more than once for SWDBS made me confused. She won another Best Actress Award for The Seoul Award tonight. Even during Baeksang, she got 3 votes (very close to Seo Hyun-jin which got 4 votes) from judges. I don't think her role was that challenging that fully utilised her skills. Or maybe other nominees aren't that powerful -Lee Bo-young (I think they didn't want to give both her and Ji-sung Best Actor/Actress Award together lol), Kim Ah-joong and Kim Hee-sun (KIm Sun-ah should have been nominated as well, too bad).

Anyway, congrats to Forest of Secret for winning Best Drama. Shin Hye-sun (FOS) or Gong Seung-yeon (Introvert Boss) should've won Best New Actress Award though. Kim Min-suk won another Best New Actor Award which I agreed with, aside that he already received the same award during Baeksang which he received full votes. Yang Se-jong was nominated for Saimdang, not Duel so it was understandable he didn't won. Seems like this is also another year for Lee Hanui as she also got another award tonight (and she was freaking gorgeous too as always). I don't know of DB will cover this award or not.

I don't know about the various different award ceremonies, but I remember reading somewhere last year (my first drama year and award ceremony year) that the awards are more often than not, given to the most popular drama/drama with high ratings. So actors, actresses, directors, etc from said drama will win regardless of objective quality. Don't know how true this is though but it may explain Park Bo Young's winning? Not to get me wrong - Strong Woman Do Bong Soon was awesome, and Park Bo Young is awesome.

You're right and I also know about that. Just somehow a little confused that she was nominated and won few times for SWDBS when this drama wasn't the only one who received high rating this year.

It's all about ratings. Let say Forest of Secrets just got its rating around 2%, this drama might not be in the nomination list at all though. LOL. Among all, Baeksang probably the only award that can be taken a little more seriously than the others imo.

LOL they just needed to give Yoon So-hee an award I think. Shin Hye-sun probably will be nominated again for Baeksang, and I also think Park Eun-bin will be nominated as well for Age of Youth. Between these two, my heart goes for Park more. That's why I wished that Shin have won tonight.

Yoon So Hee in Ruler - no words.

Exactly. She was great in Oh My Ghostess but not nearly that great in SWDBS. For Seoul Award tonight, I seriously feel that it should be either Kim Ah Joong or Lee Bo Young who should have netted the award. And where is Bae Doona? She did not even earned herself a nomination. The same with the Actor's category. The moment they left out Kim Nam Gil, I already knew I could not take them seriously. Korean Awards always left me scratching my head.

Well I think it's quite a tight competition for Best Actor Award, while I loved Kim Nam-gil in LUTYN, I also loved all other nominees in their respective roles and their nominations were well-deserved imo.

I think if Kim Sun-ah was nominated instead of Kim Hee-sun, maybe she would've won. Seems like Kim Hee-sun received more attention for WOD while in fact, Kim Sun-ah and her role that captivated most of the viewers' heart. She was terrific in WOD and deserves more recognition.

I love PBY too and I adored SWDBS despite its flaws but I'm not blind. She barely used her amazing acting skills in there. Oh well. But then again, no award ceremonies has zero bias and in this case, maybe for high-rating dramas.

Could it be because critics deemed that SWDBS isn't a good drama overal, but still got a good rating because of Park Bo Young factor..(?) But my opinion could be biased as PBY is one of my fave, but I really think, SWDBS's success was due to its cast's chemistry, and the believeable acting..

Hello Beanies!

Just want to share how much I love that the actresses are ruling the screens this Autumn.

Han Ye-Seul is wonderful as Yin-Yin in 20th Century Boy and Girl, plus Ryoo Hyoun-Kyoung is so funny as her bff.
Jung So-Min is amazing in Because This Life Is Our First and lights up the screen, but actually Esom as So-Ji is my favourite
Then Jung Ryeo-Won slays it as Prosecutor Ma in Witch's Court
And don't even get my started about Lee Yo-Won and Ra Mi-Ran who are all kinds of awesome in Revenge Social Club.

And thank you to the casting directors, for putting actresses on the screen who are all age-appropriate for the roles they're playing.
(all apart from Kim Sun-Young who does a great job but is clearly too young to be Ji-Ho's mother in Because This Life... That view is probably made worse because my girl-crush on Lee Yo-Won made me rewatch some episodes of Ms Temper & Oska and she was great in that as the rushed-of-her-feet mother of a young child)

Hello Beanies!!
So, this is a thing that happened this week. And I honestly feel like this is a thing that would happen to me and an unfortunate Candy and hopefully no one else because it was stupid ridiculous.
I finally start training for the new job next Wednesday! Yaaaaay! This past like Tuesday or whatever I had an interview with a second job that would make working at the new job financially feasible. The interview went amazingly well. The supervisor said that she was going to email everyone who made the second interview the next morning and no matter how many times I refreshed my email I didn't get an invite. I finally (after wails and tears and possibly stuffed animal abuse) said whatever. Back to the drawing board when I GOT THE EMAIL! YAAAAAAY! Except. The interview was the same day as the training.
I called and explained my dilemma and the manager was all---welll.....Hmmm....I'll see what I can do but this isn't a good start, isa. So it became a decision of going to the interview for a job I'm not guaranteed to get OR go to the training for the job I HAVE but I won't get more than 19 hours a week.
While I was pacing and biting my lip over this dilemma (and possibly committing more stuffed animal abuse). I got a different phone call. This one is also a part time job but its a part time librarian position. Its working with adults which is never my favorite thing to do (I am roughly 97% less patient with adult shenanigans than I am with children and teens. Adults get my "mean librarian" look real quick. A former manager laughed at me and said that I was a mean mama to anyone over 18. Which made me try to change my ways. But its slooooow going). So again, not exactly what I want but exactly what I need right now. AND---the only day to interview is November 1st.
So, when its raining its pouring but when you're living that Candy (or Murphy's Law) life its not necessarily pouring anything helpful.
So, I couldn't move my start date. Thankfully the strength of my first interview was enough that they agreed to move it and the librarian interview can be done in my car as I'm on my way to somewhere else (yay for phone interviews)!
Beanies. Have a great weekend! I'm going to spend it binge watching the last of the shows I want to rewatch (Playful Kiss, Heart to Heart, Murphy's Law) because thankfully (hopefully) after next week I'll be busy again!
