Yoon Kyun-sang, Jung Hye-sung may be on the road to Doubtful Victory

Jung Hye-sung, Yoon Kyun-sang

If this pairing works out, Doubtful Victory will already be set for a great beginning. This new crime drama is currently courting Yoon Kyun-sang (Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People) and Jung Hye-sung (Manhole) to be its leads; it may have been courting Yoon for a while, given mixed reports back in August, but now his side has confirmed receiving the offer.

Doubtful Victory is about a fake detective who fights off hidden evils and regains his own life. Yoon is up for the title role of Il-seung (Doubtful Victory can also be read as Mysterious Il-seung), a framed ex-convict and prison escapee who is being funded by criminals to find a huge stash of money. Il-seung becomes part of the metropolitan investigation unit and is described as having street smarts; he’s fast on the uptake, and his body moves just as fast as his mind. Despite his lumbering swagger and fierce temper, he doesn’t say many words, and is a man’s man with handsome looks and a tenacity about him.

The character claims that after graduating police academy, he was immediately sent on a foreign mission and came back only recently. He didn’t even go through the regular rotation through the local precinct, and was directly assigned to the metropolitan investigation unit. And because of his strange resume, he’s been nicknamed the “alien” by his colleagues.

Jung Hye-sung, if she confirms, will play an inspector in the investigations unit named Jin Jin-young. In a career field where teamwork is everything, she has no concept of sharing or compromise. She was number one throughout her entire time at police academy, and is an all-around elite badass—smart, athletic, with an impressive performance record.

Ooh! I hope there’s a cute love line amidst the dramatic crime solving. Although I haven’t seen her recent dramas, I really enjoyed Jung Hye-sung’s performance in Oh My Venus and Pride and Prejudice, and I think a sweet Yoon Kyun-sang would be just the thing her character might need to mellow out and learn to get along with others.

There may be a Six Flying Dragons reunion in store, with Yoon Kyun-sang possibly rejoining PD Shin Kyung-soo (Six Flying Dragons, Tree With Deep Roots). Writer Lee Hyun-joo (Pride and Prejudice, School 2013) is also onboard this project, and their drama credits are making me drool a little bit.

Monday-Tuesday drama Doubtful Victory will begin in November on SBS, after the end of Temperature of Love.

First lead role for Jung Hye-sung and she earns it. 👏 This sounds like an interesting premise, and also reunion of both of them the PD (Yun Kyun-sang) and writer (Jung Hye-sung). I think this drama probably will have some comedic elements. These two seem like a good pairing as well.

Ooh.. But what about 3 meals a day? They will have to end it sooner, just like 3mad S3 when Yoon Kyun Sang prepared for Rebel and Eric for Shinhwa's comeback.. I want to see him in a drama but don't want 3mad to end 😅

3MAD is already on last ep this week broadcast, i think. Shinhwa member will be the last guest for this season.

Thank god it looks like he turned down that boring office romcom. Not the biggest fan of her :/ I think watching her on variety shows where she came across as really high maintenance ruin my ability to like her characters. I also found her OMV character really annoying so that doesn't help.

Acc to another article he hasnt turned down the other drama yet- but that he has at least two known drama on plate to consider. I thk JHS was good in her princess role in Moonlight and also her quirky character in Officer Kim. I too didnt like her character on variety.

As her older brother or friendly neighbor or teacher, anything without romance between them is fine for me :)

That would be creepy and the height difference so weird. No to this casting.

Imagine if Jo Jinwoong signs in to play a role of his awesome sunbae (even better if he's Lee Jaehan in a different timeline). I'd pay to watch that.

It’s high time Jung Hye Sung does a lead actress role. She’s done an awesome job with her second lead roles and side characters. If confirmed, I’ll certainly be looking forward to this.

Yes. Do it. I approve completely.
They are both amazing. The pd is great. The writer is great.
Please don't give this to an idol 😯😦😦

Thanks for great news, tineybeanie!

Hong Gil-dong morphs into a fake detective? I love it! Whether Yoon Kyun-sang plays a man or an alien, I love him. ;-)

This sounds like it will be a romp. After all the dire events in the excellent REBEL, I'm looking forward to less torture & mayhem, more fun.

Is anyone else picking up some SWEET STRANGER AND MEN / MAN LIVING AT OUR HOUSE vibes? Or maybe a lighter, brighter take on LOOKOUT and VOICE?

Just hold the hot and cold running serial killers, please, Show, okay?

Certainly liked what this particular PD did with Dragons and Tree. Just knowing that this PD is involved makes this project interesting. ..... Add this acting combo to the mix and we could end up with something entertaining as well. Will check it out and see what happens.

Just saw Yoon Kyun-sang in Rebel so could do with some more time before seeing him again. He's a decent actor but not good enough that I'm eager to see him again so soon.

As for Jung Hye-sung, I don't believe she has the ability to anchor a lead role. She lacks screen presence.

I will probably skip this.

If the heroine in this drama is written to be just as messed up and defiantly brilliant as Pride and Prejudice I am 100% down. That was the first time that I saw a female character be the crazy rookie who keeps pushing the buttons of her superiors but has all the skills and talent to back it up. Would love to see it again in this drama.

I love female lead in Pride & Prejudice, especially when she went head to head with her superior(s). I think after Choi Min-soo, Baek Jin-hee was the next reason I could finish this drama. I loved this drama, but the plot dragged. sigh. I can see Jung Hye-sung playing this kind of role, and she was good in her role in this drama too.

Yeah I LOVED Choi Min-soo in it. I honestly feel like the actors kind of elevated the story haha. Like the chemistry that Choi Jin-hyuk brought was smouldering. Choi Min-soo was obviously brilliant and problematic and his relationship with Baek Jin-hee was amazing because of how contentious but also protective(?) it was.

The weakest parts of the drama were the mystery (uh oh) and Lee Tae-hwan haha. The dude was cute but boy. He really couldn't act.

I think the actors saved this drama in many part. Veterans were great too. LOL agree about Lee Tae-hwan, I love him but he seriously... has that once facial expression only. Even watching him in My Golden Life at the moment, still not much improvement. That little boy probably acted better.

I somehow finished Pride and Prejudice but can't really rmbr what it was about. It was real snoozefest and put it me off both Jung So Min and Choi Jin Hyuk for a while.

I'll definitelly looking forward to this drama if he accepts the offer ! Plus, I'm in the mood for some crime dramas after Live Up and AoY ended.

Anyway, I'm already happy when I opened DB and read Yoon Kyun Sang's name in the title. It lifts my mood up and I think I'll be able to endure today's work. Aah.. The perks of falling in love with an Oppa 😄

What character did she play in OMV? I only remember her from Moonlight.

Also, I'm confused about the hero's character...he is ex convict or a policeman 🤔

I haven't watched Yoon Kyunsang in any drama for quite a long time (I just couldn't find the time and will to watch Rebel although I know it's good), so I'm really excited for this one.

Seeing him play a more serious role will be refreshing since I've been watching him in Three Meals a Day, and he's such a cute person (and loves cats! How to NOT fall in love with him?). I've never seen Jung Hyesung, so I don't really have anything to say about her for now.
