Breathtaking landscapes and gothic mystery in Black Knight teasers

Black Knight, the KBS fantasy drama spanning two centuries, has given us more picturesque teasers. The scenery shots are incredibly beautiful, as are leads Kim Rae-won (Doctors) and Shin Se-kyung (Bride of a Water God 2017). The drama is a pure love story about a man who is willing to lay down his life for the woman he loves and battles a dangerous fate.

Kim Rae-won plays the main lead—a stoic man who is hard on himself, but whenever he loves, he does it with 100 percent sincerity. Meanwhile, Shin Se-kyung plays a travel agent who keeps a positive attitude despite hitting rock bottom in her family life, relationships, and career. From the first teaser, it seems like they meet in a scenic region of Slovenia where Kim Rae-won has come as a photographer to capture the landscape. She’s a woman waiting for love, and he’s a man who wants to protect that love.

After some falling, some flirting, some frivolous (but much appreciated) showering, we find that it might not have been their first meeting after all. She angrily confronts him about deceiving her, and he truthfully replies that it was because he wanted to stay with her. The final note of the teaser ends in a more optimistic tone, with Kim Rae-won remarking happily that they indeed met again like he said they would.

The second teaser is much darker in tone, featuring two characters we haven’t really been introduced to yet. Seo Ji-hye (Jealousy Incarnate) plays a secretive fashion designer named Sharon who can be selfish and prickly, but when put into tricky situations, she finds her own unique solution. She’s associated with Kim Rae-won’s mysterious assistant, played by Jang Mi-hee (Madame Antoine), who has somehow lived for 200 years.

In the teaser, Shin Se-kyung wanders the streets aimlessly as Seo Ji-hye extends an offer to her: a reason for Shin Se-kyung to live in exchange for giving Seo Ji-hye the one thing she wants. The eeriness grows as gothic organ music plays and Jang Mi-hee states that everything must go back to its original place. Kim Rae-won seems confused by the fact that people who have slighted or insulted him recently seem to keep dying, and we see flashbacks of Shin Se-kyung in troubled Joseon times. The teaser concludes with Jang Mi-hee cackling that they’ll achieve their desires.

Hmmm, so is this going to by a passionate melodrama or a gothic supernatural mystery? We’ll find out when KBS Wednesday-Thursday drama Black Knight premieres on December 6.

Gosh, the drama had me at Kim Raewon's confession of wanting to stay with her (I... squeaked). I guess I'm an easy woman... 🙈

I'm the minority who loved Bride of the Water God. So the question is... to live watch or not to live watch. *need to resist*

As someone who hasn't seen BotWG, originally planned on it and then didn't due to the bad reviews, I'm wondering what made you love the show? :) I love Gong Myung and fantasy, so I'd sort of still like to watch it, but 16 hrs is a lot of time to invest...

Not enough of gong myung to invest 16 hours... His character was the only remotely interesting thing in the drama but every time he got around to doing something, someone else stopped him... Frustrating as hell

just go watch it and make judgement for yourself..am one of those people who loved it,if u watch it unbiased u will love it
she was great even in korea critics praised her the one that most korean/critics even i found a bit stiff was the leading ma-he did his best but was slightly overshodowed by the second lead interms of acting
but he had very good chemistry with the leading girl

it's true that Gong Myung won't be enough for you to last the drama if u started disliking it after u watch it. maybe u want to scan through the recaps before deciding?

i loved the chemistry of the leads & fangirled way too hard on Nam Joohyuk despite his inadequate acting abilities. i think chemistry is subjective, others find their chemistry lacking but i thought otherwise. Shin Sekyung was serviceable for me too.

there's too much pretty in the drama for me to be fussy. i really love the little moments between the leads. it was my crack drama despite its flaws. <3

let me know how u find the drama if u really decide to watch it? haha. (:

Interesting. Never been into the supernatural/reincarnation/reaper themes but I love the lead pair. Will wait to see if its good before picking it up.

I think Shin Sekyung is the prettiest when she's in sageuk wear. Suits her perfectly.

After reading the first two character descriptions I was thinking this sounded like 99% of all K-drama romcoms. Then I read Seo Ji Hye's character description, which basically sounds like a female version of Yoon Si Yoon in Me Too, Flower!. Then I read the rest and now I'm just confused...

I‘ve had fair amounts of “once beaten twice shy“ moments with her. She is a really pretty actress but she doesn't give as much emotional intensity as is required. Its usually very stiff romantic scenes with her involved. I hope this actor can break the norm with her because if i can't feel the emotions, i can't feel the movie

I've loved every teaser for this drama so far but I'm afraid it'll disappoint me in the long run. Dramagods please let this be a good drama. Kim rae-won is swoon worthy in every still so I'll still be watching.

Looks interesting....but with the lead actress, my interest just went down the drain. Despite being such a bland actress, she seems to be getting high profile projects.

This looks quite interesting, but I can't seem to like shin se kyung's acting when kim young hyun isn't the writer. Hope this will change my mind, but oh well....

The trailers give the feeling of two different dramas...both look interesting, though!

I am in danger of being sucked into watching at least 2 episodes for the Slovenia scenery alone.

Wow, those stills look amazing.

Tbh one of the major things that turned me off from BoTWG was the age gap between the leads. But I really liked Shin Se-Kyung in 'Girl Who Sees Smell' so I'll be trying the first few episodes out.

Funny how K-dramas tend to cover women almost up to their chin (they must thank the fashion god for the turtlenecks coming back), but almost every one of them has the male lead take a shower on screen.
