'Manhole : Jaejoong was his own worst enemy' and 'Man, what a hole' lmao xD you guys are amazing. Everything is so fun to read xD
Through this I realise I can't answer any for thriller and only watched 2 period drama (both of which are actually pretty modern? Goblin and Lingerie Girls' Generation. In favourite character section there is no Chief Kim : Seo Yul, though (he is my number one since february until now lol I'm amazed at my own love for this character).
I think seeing the current results, BTLIMF is going to sweep off almost all categories hahaha this was super fun <3

Not to be mean but why is WonSan a couple? If you want to do this at least put RinSan as secondary couple. So disappointing. 😒

Uhh, the best breakout performance is the hardest to choose from! But am glad it's best 3 for bromance, coz if I have to choose between Goblin+Grim Reaper or Chief Kim+Yul, I'd have abstained ^^
And a shout out to Radiant Office, my favorite 2017 drama!

In all ten years of my watching kdrama I haven't watched so few. Not sure about the reason... a lack of free time (but there was a time I had been even busier, but still found time to watch five dramas at once)... drama slump... being too critical... or maybe dramas are not so good as they were before (doesn't sound very convincing). I tried to vote in all categories, but some of them included only dramas I skipped. Thank you for this year anyway :)

I think we are being too critical and grumpy haha.
We have so many good dramas collected throughout those 10 yrs to compare with what is coming out now.
I think some genres are improving like crime thrillers but some are not as good and as epic as they used to be like the sageuks of old.

Honestly, I'm not too picky or grumpy. Well, the fact i love a flawed drama like Uncontrollably fond and Cheese In The Trap said it all. But really, I just one Kdrama to do one thing, focus on one thing you are good at. Korean drama this days are so hard to do that. seriously, one scene they talk about philosophy about life and reality, and then the next scene they mix it with humor and useless love triangle that has nothing to do with their narrative. seriously...

Looking back on this year, I think it was actually a pretty strong year for KDramas. We rung in the New Year with the epic Goblin. Time travel was this year’s vampires, but that’s cool. We had mature romances like Because This Life is our First, lighter rom-coms like Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (but a very creepy killer for a lighter rom-com), Fight My Way, and Strongest Deliveryman. Beautiful location shoots in Goblin and The Package. Quirky dramas that (IMO) showed more of an international influence (think UK and Euro mystery dramas) like Circle, Forest of Secrets and Rescue Me). One area that I think was lacking was something that Korean tv has done well in the past - the revenge thriller. I guess you could put Defendant in that category, but it was more like a “survival thriller” to me. The current “Money Flower” fits the category, but the hero is just too dark.

Disappointed in how the votes are going.
Strong Woman is getting tons of love. That and Bride of the Water God were the 2 worst dramas of 2017. Both were horribly written and just BAD.
Rescue Me which was absolutely amazing, well written, acted and unique is not getting much love. So disappointed.

FoS is the best case for friendship

I had trouble with the "What drama made you cry the most" question. Vote for good shows with sad scenes that might make you cry? Or vote for/against bad shows with descriptions like "tears of boredom" or "tears of frustration" ??
I'm not the type to cry watching dramas, but Ruler was awfully frustrating (until I dropped it).

Actually, this year I got by heart crashed because of desperately shipping couples that were not meant to be. ESPECIALLY in Big Hit. I was all for friends-to-become-lovers romance & their interactions were just adorable. What a pity she chose his father :/
Moreover, I was in minority but I preferred Won with San

I loved Su-ji and Sang-gu but secondary favourite couple (and primary if you put them in that category too) would quite easily be Reaper and Sunny. That love story really killed me in so many ways. Everything about them was so lovely yet tragic. They loved each other so much and yet there was so much anger/regret/longing and disappointment too. Basically if someone asked me to sacrifice every single happy ending this year for then, I’d do it in a heart beat. Thankfully I didn’t have to because KES had mercy lol.
Black is another gem. Love that drama. Same with LUTYN. I wish more international viewers watched both. They were so well done, acted and executed. Oh well...

I’m just sayin’ I would have voted Perfect Wife for a bunch of these, bc Jae-Bok was my favorite protagonist EVER, and her and Bong-Gu are in the top 5 of my couples. Also Eun-Hee was a really fun villain to watch 😮😮

I agree about Eun Hee! Was she the only female villain this year? There are tons of horrible, villainous people, but i think the big bad is usually a man. Jo Yeo-jung's portrayal of Eun Hee was chilling. I still remember how she, with a cut foot, ran after Nami at that party.
Jae-bok wasn't my favorite protagonist, but she was probably the most sensible protagonist I've ever encountered. I'm surprised we were still able to get 20 episodes of good material when she was so sensible and levelheaded.

Why is there no best ost categories? I would totally vote for the Goblin and While You Were Sleeping soundtrack, despite not being able to finish the latter.
I found that I have dropped a lot dramas this year, even the highly popular or the good ones that everyone praised (Defendant , Because
This is My First Life). Somehow I just didn't connect with them, it is just a matter of taste I guess.
And there were some highly recommended ones that I was unable to commit due to my time constraints. I am only watching live drama nowadays. I promise, I will watch Forest of Secrets and Rescue Me one day.

Dear javabeans,
Where is Rin and San in the best couple category? It is a huge joke and a subtle revenge to put Won and San in that category. They were not even a couple for a brief moment in that drama. If you are one of those crazy shippers, at least have some dignity and show your hate somewhere else.

Without no particular order my fav dramas this year [and God this year felt so long, at this point like why it's not over already, :( ], Goblin, forest of secrets, woman of dignity, avengers social club, circle[ it was caught on my radar, hated the ending though], witch's court, go back spouses, lingerie girls generation [what a short and cute romance], yang se jong in all his dramas[ just cause he's so cute!], age of youth 2, [ssong and sungmin], Black [! stupid ending], the king loves, strong woman do bong soon [just the OTP].
Bye bye dramas, 2017. Looking forward to seeing my bae Kim Seul Gi getting a lead role in any of the 5 upcoming years lol.
