Han Ji-hye, Lee Sang-woo consider Shall We Live Together

Han Ji-hye, Lee Sang-woo

It’s a quick turnaround after 20th Century Boy and Girl, but there’s already news that Lee Sang-woo is considering his next drama, an upcoming KBS weekender called Shall We Live Together. The last KBS family drama he was in, All About My Mom, was a huge ratings hit, and they’re also courting Han Ji-hye (Legendary Witch) to return to dramaland after a three-year hiatus to co-star, whose last project, Legendary Witch, was also a ratings hit.

The drama is a frank story about a multi-generational family, with the parents facing their mid-life crises, and their children who have been unable to become independent, shielded from the realities of the world like kangaroo babies by their parents. While specifics on Lee Sang-woo’s character have not been revealed, Han Ji-hye has been offered the part of a cold doctor who was accepted into a prestigious medical school. She’s uncaring about others to the point of oddity, and she’s a fiercely independent individual who isn’t interested in rumors or gossip.

Writer Park Pil-joo, whose greatest credits are weekender Bluebird’s House and daily drama First Love Again—both of which received much domestic love—will be penning the script for Shall We Live Together. Park Pil-joo will be reuniting with First Love Again’s PD Yoon Chang-beom for this project.

I’m glad that Lee Sang-woo might be returning so soon because I think he’s such an underrated actor who deserves more opportunities. As for Han Ji-hye, it’ll be her comeback after a long break, which was due to an issue that occurred as she moved management agencies. Given the experience that both actors have in this genre, I have full faith in their performances, so it’s all up to the writing and directing at this point.

Starting next February, Shall We Live Together will air on KBS, following the end of current top dog weekend drama My Golden Life.

What kind of issue knocks you out of the workforce for 3 whole years? Slave contract??? Evil plot to make it so expensive to escape slave contracts that nobody will ever try????? Am I being to cynical ????????

I don’t think they have that kind of slave contract like of those idol contract or rookies contract esp for an experienced actor like Han Ji Hye. I think it’s more on dispute in distribution of profits or maybe the agency was not good at getting projects.

Not another 50+ episode drama! ArGH! Can't we make him do another 16 episode one? Where I can gaze at his cuteness without being bogged down by a whackload of plotlines? Please?

KBS weekend drama is set for hit, so rating-wise it won't be a problem. I like these two enough to watch drama for them, but this writer's credits... I watched Bluebird House and it was so boring especially second half, even the rating showed it -I even skipped many epi. First Love Again- haven't watched it but read many frustrations on this drama - as usual for daily drama.

This drama has a lot to live up to after My Golden Life. That's a 50 episode drama which is, thus far, very well paced and is a breakout performance for Shin Hye-sun. It's a very easy and enjoyable watch.

And I can't say that this writer's previous work - Bluebird’s House - inspires any confidence that it'll be a good follow up.

Hmmm... I didn't like much Legendary Witch... and I didn't like the second half of Bluebird's House (it does have a very interesting villian and I liked his wife...but the main couple story is boring and my favourite couple Chae Soobin and Lee Sangyeob suddenly turned from cute to melo and tragic... also, it was so obvious when one actor suddenly almost disappeared when he was busy with another drama...)

I like Han Jihye though...

Omg! Finally~ I have been waiting for Han Jihye's comeback since forever! I follow her on IG & I can see she's keeping herself really occupied offscreen recent years.

But another weekender for both her & Lee Sangwoo? Argh. It's too much commitment for me. I did watch Glorious Day & Happy Home for him but failed to watch All About My Mom.

Who knows? I may watch this for them two, given that the casting is confirmed.

Thanks for the news on Lee Sang-woo's potential next drama, tineybeanie. I agree with your assessment that he is underrated. He was terrific in LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, another long series that I loved. But I marathoned it years after it aired. (Same goes for HWAJUNG, OKAJGYO BROTHERS, and FIVE CHILDREN.) I don't think I could survive live-watching such a long series. -- It would be dandy to see him in a shorter drama. Maybe even a sageuk! ;-)

All PDs be like: "If you cant find any actor for weekend drama, go call LSW...He'll accept it no matter what".
LSW and his weekend dramas and his same role all over again

Sometimes I surprise myself. I've been live-watching MARRY ME NOW? (alternate title for SHALL WE LIVE TOGETHER), and am still enjoying it after 39 episodes.

It's not being recapped on DB, but there is a discussion thread that starts here:
