New tvN medical drama You Who Forgot Poetry begins casting

Lee Jun-hyuk, Lee Yubi, Gong Myung

Casting is finally underway for You Who Forgot Poetry, the upcoming tvN drama about the unsung heroes of the medical community, like nurses, physical therapists, rehab specialists, radiology techs, interns, and other medical staff members. Currently, You Who Forgot Poetry is courting Lee Jun-hyuk (Forest of Secrets), Lee Yubi (Somehow 18, Scholar Who Walks the Night), and Gong Myung (Revolutionary Love) to be its leads. All three actors are considering the offers for now.

The premise sounds unique because at the core of each episode, there will be an encouraging poem that helps our characters move past the difficulties in their daily lives. It sounds lovely and slice-of-life, which is right up my alley! I just hope the actors will be able to carry the nuance necessary for the intriguing mix of poetry and medicine. I really enjoyed Lee Jun-hyuk in some of his previous works (Naked Fireman, Equator Man), but Lee Yubi and Gong Myung are still quite green.

PD Han Sang-jae and writer Myung Soo-hyun from long-running tvN comedy Rude Miss Young-ae are reuniting with their Drinking Solo production team for this new project. So if Gong Myung confirms, he’ll be working with the same staff that helped create his breakout role as the center of the memorable Noryangjin trio at the heart of that show.

Healing drama You Who Forgot Poetry is scheduled to air on tvN during the first half of next year.

My Yu Bi!!! 💗💖 I've missed you so so much!😢 Right now, I can watch anything with you. Just come back healthy.❤

That being said, I don't usually watch medical dramas so I am a little bit worried. Seeing it would be on tvN actually makes me relieved.

Gong Myung <3 fell in love with him in Bride of the Water God. His character was childish but somehow I did. and then again in Individualist Ji Young. I tried sticking with Revolutionary Love for him but I just couldnt. So waiting for the next Gong Myung drama!

Does he ever rest? I haven't seen all of his works, but it seems that he is working non-stop this year.

True, maybe he needs to take a break. Like Chae Soo Bin as well. But I guess both their careers are just picking up now so they have to ride the wave and rest later :) just hope they dont overwork themselves!

I love Lee Jun-hyuk!
I want him to be the lead, but I'm kind of meh about medical dramas (and other casting). GM, might benefit from the production team though- sometimes the right actor with the right production team works.

Yeah, same here. So many supposed medical dramas are nothing more than the usual trite romance story plot told once again. This might be different, but not holding my breath.

Someone finally remembers that my Lee Yubi exist! *Please be good, pls pls pls be good, for Yubi's sake, please*. And I'm not worried about Lee Yubi been able to convey the nuances and the right emotions for this type of show, as long as the writing holds up and she gets an awesome character. Gong Myung, am not familiar with.

I had no idea Lee Jun Hyuk was in FOS, just why I haven't watched it yet is beyond my comprehension!

Hard pass.

Lee Yubi is a decent actress, but really not ready for a lead role. She was outright bad in her last one. She's better as a supporting role.

Gong Myung is utter crap. The fact that he's getting major roles is ridiculous in itself. Not sure how many poor performances he'll have to put in before they stop casting him in big roles, but I'm guessing he's getting the gigs due to backers rather than what "talent" he has.

Lee Jun-hyuk alone isn't enough for me to consider this, and is the only real bright spot here in a leading role. It's a shame it has to be this drama.

Lee Yubi got a terrible role and a character even a Son Ye Jin-level actress would have trouble making into something interesting. SWWTN writing for her character was so bad, she really ended up as a damsel in distress and nothing else.

Anyway i don't believe in blaming a decent actress for horrible character writing, she is capable of much better and if people like Suzy, Hyeri and Go Ara can get lead roles all the time I don't see why this one can't.

I don't understand why people keep criticizing Gong Myung. In Revolutionary Love, he was the only bearable one! Si Won's performance there was downright cringe worthy, and yet he doesn't get as much flak?

gong myung has no charm, I've seen drinking solo and revolutionary love, his character has so much potential to be this endearing 2nd love that you would drop dead love but his performance make you realised why the lead girl can't fall in love with him, no charm, nothing interesting, just someone who is there for the sake of having an actor to do that

The two male leads are fine though I hope the drama will cast another stronger actress besides LYB. The setting can accomodate four leads.

I'd like this better if Go Ah Sung would be casted. She's a stronger actress and the role is something that requires someone with an aura just like hers, based on the released descriptions.

I love this idea but I see pharmacy is forgotten as usual =(
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are an integral part of the patient's care and we help save lives too!

I think in dramas, they forget that pharmacies do exist in big general hospitals. Seriously.

She's a good actress, she was one of the best parts of the film Twenty for me. And unless she suddenly forgot how to act or had too much work done to the point where it interferes with her expressions or speech, she should be ok. SWWTN ended up being such a nonsense drama though. I hope she gets a breakthrough next year like Jung So Min, she was just unfortunate to debut in a time where rookie actresses could never get chances to play young lead female roles.

Exactly! I think Jung So Min was just average. I feel the male leads in her two last drama helped carried her performance, without which, she would have been just below average.

But I think Jung So Min is a good actress.... having a role that's subdued or a plain/quiet character doesn't make an actress automatically 'below average'.

The guys were the weird/quirky ones in those dramas, she did well in her own roles and complemented them perfectly.

I just found her less likeable without the guys. The guys liked her, hence I like her. The guys highlight what is likeable about her and I see those qualities and like them. It doesn't work if it's done the other way around. The guys have their own charm and do not need her to highlight it and drive the audience towards them. I do not like them because she likes them. They make themselves likeable. If I was watching her alone, without the guys pointing out what to like about her, I do not find her at all interesting or anything likeable about her performance.

Her role here was hardly plain or subdued. Other characters kept highlighting that she was a beauty. There were many instances she stood up for herself and told off a good number of people.

But that is just my personal preference. I am sure many like yourself find her to be good and I can understand your point as well.

agree... and pattern with her is same since playful kiss..

she is not someone who dazzles or can give the script that uplift with her acting.. if the movie/drama is in good hands she will shine.. she is not a versatile actress either

Medical drama is not so my thing, but the premise sounds interesting. Seems like tvN already has two medical drama next year, and if Forest of Secrets' writer confirm to has a new medical drama, it will make it three. None of these casts is really my favourite, but I think they are pretty decent and their performance very much depend on the script and production. I liked Lee Jun-hyuk in City Hunter and Forest Of Secrets, so glad he is getting more lead role. Lee Yu-bi - it's has been a long time from Scholar. I think she has aconfirmed as she posted the pic of the article in her IG. Hopefully this drama would be interesting to watch. Moreover, I also love to see less-hyped casts to headline a drama because they also deserve chances to shine.

I hope this drama does highlight the brutal workforce of nurses in Korea, especially. I mean they do most of the work when their salaries are really terrible. Just they are not doctors, they shouldn't be portrayed as people without a professional ethic and hard dedication to their work.

I'm fine with medical drama, as long as is not too procedural , and always keep playing surgery scene too often, which at times is not helping the plot further.

Can we focus more on another aspect in a Big hospital? Hospital is not always about surgeon, doctor, politic, or whatever random aspect in the hospital... ..

TVN must love Gong Myung, isn’t this his 4th drama with them and pretty much back to back?

I like the idea of focusing on the unsung heroes behind healthcare (btw, what about the lab team, and microbiologists?) Anyway, I hope this drama can balance the poetry and medicine combo and not try too hard to preach life lessons with poetry. That gets tiresome after a while (BTIOFL, looking at you out of the corner of my eye).

Gong Myung seems to be the darling of tvN. This would be his fourth tVN drama in a row after Drinking Solo, Bride of Habaek and Revolutionary Love. I wonder why he doesn’t act in Public TV dramas. Nothing wrong with tvN; and he’s a talented actor; I just wish he’d grow his base audience past Cable TV. Although the ratings of Public TV stations aren’t that much better than Cable these days. Smh.
