Name That Drama: Fighter princesses and sacked slaves

Ready for another round of drama-sleuthing? Help out your fellow Beanies or email us your own questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.

  1. Crybaby fighter

There is a movie from the early 2000s whose name completely escapes me. The main characters are high-schoolers who are the reincarnations of a prince and princess. They have to marry by a certain date or else they will die. The girl in particular cries constantly because the princess always cried, but otherwise is tough and a fighter. The opening scene is her fighting a group of boys, and a friend throwing her a pair of shorts under her school uniform for modesty. The boy is new in town and his parents try to delay the marriage. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for a great series. I love reading these title searches.

  2. Friends with love problems

Recently I saw a Korean movie with no name on YouTube—the title was Japanese and had no connection with the movie. The story of this movie is about two girlfriends. One of them is married and the other one is a photographer. The girl who’s a photographer has a secret relationship with her boss or co-worker. The married woman’s husband is a cheater. The problem is that YouTube has the incomplete version of it, which is driving me nuts! Please help me out.

I think the movie is from 2002-2007? ‘Cause they were using Motorola slide phones.

  3. Getting the sack

Scenes from this drama started popping in my head but I can’t remember where they’re from! Here’s what I remember:
    – It takes place in the past (not sure if Joseon or Goryeo)
    – There are two young men: one kind and poor, the other arrogant and rich
    – The poor one’s mother is a slave in the rich one’s household
    – The rich one often uses the differences in their positions to get the poor one to do what he wants

Now here are some things I’m pretty sure I remember correctly, but I could be wrong:
    – At one point, the poor one does something defiant and his mother is placed in a sack and savagely beaten to pay for it — but then it turns out his mom wasn’t in the sack; it was just a warning. (Or maybe it was the mother who was defiant and her son was in the sack.)
    – The rich guy let someone (the mother?) die in a fire
    – The rich guy gets an official position like a magistrate

I’ve looked through the recap list on this site and nothing is jumping out at me. Please help, Beanies!

  4. Family ties

There was a Korean drama from the last few years about two brothers falling in love with two sisters. One couple is a younger male falling for an older female. I never saw anything but a preview where you meet the cast so that is all I know. Please help.

  5. Trace the message

Please help me try to find a drama. I love collecting quotes from dramas I’ve seen but I forgot where I’ve seen this particular quote or text message:

No. I won’t forget about it.
    You wanted a plan.
My plan.. is to love you.
I’ve loved you for a while now.
We can talk about it face-to-face.
I will do everything you want.
If that stresses you out at all, just ignore this message.
    I’ll be fine.
We’ll go back to being friends.
    I swear nothing will happen.
But if you care for me at all, or if you miss me, call me.

Thanks for playing, everyone — till next time!

4. This sounds like a Thai drama called Lovey Dovey. The younger brother falls for the older sister and the older brother falls for the younger sister.

Number 3 sounds like mirror of the witch... The main characters mother is an indentured servant in a rich assholes household and he tries to make money to buy her freedom

It is. I’m slowly watching it on Netflix and just saw that scene a couple of weeks ago. Show’s pretty boring. I didn’t get far.

I dropped it at episode 4 I think. I saw the signs.

I didn't actively drop it. I just read this and suddenly realised I haven't watched an episode for over 6 weeks. There's so much content to watch that I don't think it's worth it.

I also gave up a few episodes in.

Watched Mirror of the Witch back then and figured that I only liked the villainess. Nice cinematography but dropped it halfway.

I actually really liked this drama! Admittedly, the plot was repetitive towards the end, but I thought it was a beautifully told story and I was rooting for the main leads to defeat the villainess throughout the series. However, if you're looking for romantic development this certainly wasn't the drama for that. I also really like Yoon Si Yoon, so maybe that made it more enjoyable for me.

Its really sound like Mirror. I get caught in their Rapunzel-esque cinematography episode 1. The rest just Yoon Shiyoon.

3. Getting the sack
I agree with the above with Mirror of the Witch as the potential drama.

5. Trace the message
This sounds like a scene from The Good Wife. It is one of the most memorable scenes in a drama because of all the angst between the two characters. I may have to go rewatch this now. Hahaha

I haven’t seen the Korean version yet but that sounds like ‘the message’ from the American one too.

Number #4 reminds me of "A thousand kisses", but it's probably the wrong drama, because the men were cousins instead of brothers.

I also thought of A Thousand Kisses. They're kinda like brothers though.. at least koreans call cousins hyeong too.

That was my first thought as well, even if the guys are cousins... although I feel like 2 brothers falling in love with 2 sisters is a dime a dozen in weekend family dramas.

I third this. A Thousand Kisses was the one I thought of immediately I read number 4.

It's not A Thousand Kisses. It's too old of a drama. The one I'm after is maybe no more than three to four years old.

For whoever's looking for the Korean movie on YouTube (#2), if I were you, I'd screenshot parts of the movie and use Google's Search By Image function to find the movie.

Similar images from the movie will pop up or.. you can find out the names of the actors and actresses that way and track down their filmography on mydramalist or some other filmography site and narrow the search that way.

I'd also provide DB with a link to the incomplete movie on YouTube so fellow Beanies can check.

Could this be #2...the title is wrong and it’s way older than 2015 but it’s what I thought of when I read your description... http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2sng2y

So, would someone please help me by naming a song instead of a drama. There's been a song in Heart to Heart that I've been searching everywhere for but can't find it. It's not in the ost and I tried using the lyrics but no results :( It's in episode 15 and starts at approximately 32:46, the lyrics start with “I'm a bird/ you are the wind/ we need each other...” If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it :)
