I’ve been really disappointed in the direction that “Something in the Rain” has taken as the nasty, out-of-control mother storyline has sucked all of the enjoyment out of the drama. Also, Episode 13 preview seems to indicate that our main couple may be headed for a break-up. If so drama, please quit playing Stand By Your Man as not only am I completely sick of that song but it will no longer be true.

I continue to enjoy “A Poem A Day” and hope that the series can wrap up successfully in the final 2 episodes. However, I will be disgusted if Bo Young ends up with Min Ho instead of Dr. Ye as Min Ho is too immature for an adult relationship and given how quickly he can revert to childishness, 2 episodes is just not enough time for him to grow up.

So far, I’m liking “Wok in Love”/”Greasy Melo” with its quirky characters and situations. I don’t know what the love lines of this drama will be (and current don’t have a strong preference one way or the other) as I’m just hoping for a good revenge plot where our underdog restaurant crew don’t get trampled too much and the ex-wife and her boyfriend get what they deserve. I do like the 2 male leads (Seo Poong & Chil Song) much better than the H/OM (Hyung Joon & Lee Ki Woo) in this writer’s other drama “Miss Korea”. I only finished watching “Miss Korea” for the h as my dislike for the H was only exceeded by my hatred of the OM. It was one drama where I was rooting for the h to end up alone as neither the H or the OM were good enough for her (the writer forgot to write a redemption arc for these characters as it seemed we were just supposed to forget how nasty both of them had been to the h and just start liking them).

I’m also loosely following the Chinese drama “Oh My General” with it’s strong, intelligent h and its somewhat wimpy H that she was forced to marry. I have enjoyed watching the h struggle to understand relationships and the H changing so he doesn’t disappoint the h.

JHI = Jung Hae In the male lead in "Something in the Rain". He was involved in an controversy last week at the Baeksang awards when he stood in the center spot for a picture despite not winning the major award. Internet fans (anti-fans?) were not happy.

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all doing well today!

Wishing all the Beanie moms a Happy Mother's Day this upcoming weekend!

Debating whether to start Greasy Melo or not. I totally want to, but I may hold off for a couple of weeks due to the busy schedule and all.

This week:

Should We Kiss First? - Finished this. While things were dragged out about 4 episodes too long, I was glad to see the protagonists will go on living feeling a bit less tortured.

Switch - Continues to be a fun, easy watch.

Suits - Really liking this, unfortunately I haven't watched this week's episodes though .... those pesky time issues! Hopefully, I won't fall too far behind!

The Wrong Mans (Season2) - Watched the final episode. It was one final adventure, for the guys, not without some obstacles of course.

That's all for now. ...... Take care everyone and have a great Friday!

Hi @owl22!
Greasy Melo sounds pretty good .... the early comments certainly seem to be positivie. I also debated whether to start Poem or not and couldn't quite get around to it. I did manage to watch the first episode of My Mister and it was fantastic. Unfortunately, that's all I managed to watch but that's definitely a show I want to get back to!

greasy melo is an easy fun watch. It's not high quality, but the humour is there. and junto (<3) (must i say more). The heroin is likeable. Idk, its just pleasing to watch. go for it if you want something simple to relax on at the end of the day.

MR.RICK RIORDAN,YOU'RE AT THE TOP OF MY SHIT LIST NOW!

YOU RUINED THE SERIES THAT BROUGHT LIGHT AND JOY TO ME FOR MANY YEARS BY A SINGLE,ILLOGICAL,UNNECESSARY,POINTLESS DEATH!!!
AND JASON HAD NOT EVEN BEEN ONE OF MY FAVOURITE CHARACTERS.
😭😭😭😭😭
There....,I immediately felt better, though this looks sorta childish. ( Takes a deep, shaky sigh.)
Sorry beanies. Hope you're not much angry with being yelled at. I don't do things like this often. Actually (and sadly) this is my first time screaming my frustration online.

You know, about that series, I read it till The last Olympian.
I thought the series ended. But then I found some other books(supplementary series) & they made no sense to me.
So where does this one start from?

Required fields are marked *

Oh gods. You have now awaken the hardcore PJO fan inside me. Don't blame me later, hehe.
OK listen.
The 5 booked series HEROES OF OLYMPUS starts right after PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS. The books are big, fat, rich and diverse, revolving around 7 demigods including Percy and Annabeth. I loved them. But by the midst of the 4th book,we sensed something was off. Rick Riordan started relying TOO much on cliffhangers. It started losing the potential punch it could've had.

Some great character arcs were forgotten/underdeveloped. but still,we loved it. Basically it became a kdrama; making its readers still care even when everything else went downhill.
But when Uncle Rick decided to END thee series with a cliffhanger,it dawned on us that he's slowly careening toward the "milking cash cows" zone and also the infamous American habit of never-ending,multi-seasoned dramas/books.
I thought,OK,i'm done. I'd rather preserve the fond memories i already have without being greedy for More. (You now see how well I've kept my word.)
Uncle Rick simultaneously launched TWO series, one picking up from the said ending cliffhanger of the previous series, the other set around Annabeth's cousin Magnus in HIS universe of NORSE myths. Both were letdowns (but of course had cameos of our fave old heroes so to keep the old readers interested)

And i kept praying for them to be at least HALF coherent and relatable as the two previous series. Alas, they were answered, and i was overjoyed to see the BURNING MAZE (released May 1 2018) picking up its old game with gusto, until i saw the MASSIVE price i was supposed to pay. There was ONE illogical, unnecessary thing in the book; and it happened to be the DEATH of a major hero we had in HEROES OF OLYMPUS!

I wept angry tears for 2 days.
I caved in,and paid for it. All i can do now is regretting.

So don't you too. Be content with the fond memories of PJO. As for no existence,no pain.
Love.

Heroes of Olympus was an amazing series up until book 3 -Athena and then everything was kinda bland and not interesting. Magnus Chase was utterly boring whilst Apollo didn't have the same charm. Recently, Rick has been a let-downer, nothing as interesting as the originals.

3

Yeah I didn't like the series after The last Olympian.
They didn't have Percy in it & it got even more boring.
Even the original series lost it's charm because as you said, he started milking.
I somehow read till the end but wasn't satisfied with a lot of parts.

Now I won't read this new book either. Thanks for the tip 😛

1

This book-rage makes me giggle. I can relate so much to my other idol authors.

But is Heroes of Olympus worth it? I remember reading Percy Jackson and liking it years ago. I didn't know the author wrote so many books after it in the same universe.

3

Oh dear. Honestly, I think he should've stopped writing in the PJ universe, like 7 books ago? AKA at the end of the first series.

Well, I've to say that actually Heroes of Olympus worth it. There were some incidences that it surpassed even its mother series in its complexity and plot. Aand Percy and Annabeth together is the cuteness thing ever.
BUT, one thing often leads to another, and you'll find yourself not being able to let go, perhaps even caving into the next two series, leading to the inevitable disappointment, regret and pain.

Sooo, yup. I guess you should just stop where you're. Because once again,no existence,no pain.

For me part of what made the first series great was Percy's First Person POV and snarkiness therein. You lost some of that in HOO because he wasn't the main narrator, and I wasn't as interested in the other characters so I haven't read them all fully, if at all... yeesh did I read it or do I just know what happens... idk.
Plus I grew out of them some time ago, so thankfully I only have to read about the suffering and irritation it would've caused me had I continued reading them haha

2

I didn't know PJ has another book. I think I might check it out just so that I can see Percy and Annabeth again. Are they the main characters?

I tried reading Magnus and Apollo but sadly the books didn't capture me as much as I hoped. I guess my love for Percy and Annabeth are too strong anything less makes it boring...

1

Required fields are marked *

They are among the SEVEN main characters. Though everybody (including me) miss Percy's sardonic narration in the mother series, we can't hope Mr.R to write 7 heroes 7 different narrative styles, right? it'd be VERY messy, for him, them, and us. Thus, this time POVs for a change, instead of 1st person narrations. We still get 50+ something chapters in Percy's POV! And getting to hear the story from Annabeth's side too was in my dreams since the first series, and we get it too because of this new method....,so i don't complain.

Oh dear, surely Magnus and Apollo wouldn't have captured you even if they were great and strong books (which they weren't) because they're FOLLOW-UPS to HEROES OF OLYMPUS. You won't get half of the references, or worse....you'd be spoiled of the HOO series by reading them before it.
However,if you've seen my comments above, you see that I've suggested staying away from HOO even tho it was a decent follow-up to PJO.
So,if you insist on reading it,i'd advice you to NOT to get too attached to the new characters introduced there, and if you do,NOT to touch Magnus NOR Apollo. It'd be good for your sanity and heart.

I finished reading HOO last year, despite the lack of Percy as the narrator I mildly enjoyed it because Percy is still the main character. I loved it when other characters describe Percy's awesomeness (who wouldn't, he is the son of Poseidon 😁), that's why I was able to finish it.

But in Magnus and Apollo, Percy and even Annabeth are barely in the story which dampens the excitement tenfolds! Still, I read them because I miss Percy and Annabeth so much. I even watched the crappy movies just to see them. Hahaha

I wonder about the new book you mentioned in your original posting. How do you rate Percy and Percy and Annabeth's presence in the book. Are they barely appearing or are they the main characters like HOO? I might check it out if it turns out the latter.

@hikarinw
Ahaha, so this is an easy case where you're apparently not much attached to the other characters! (Lucky you😁)
I misunderstood far too much and probably embarrassed myself by blabbering to spare you of heartache!😂😂😂
Easy answer: No! They're not even mentioned there. Hooray!!!
P.s. - Glad you liked HoO simply because it let us see how OTHERS saw Percy and Annabeth. It was gratifying (and relieving) to see that it not only we were head-over-heels for them;both individual and together!😝
I didn't watch the films because;
1. A brunette Annabeth. SERIOUSLY?
2. 20 something/late teen characters in the 1st book?
3. Cabins in woods??? Duh.
Simply no.
I should've known Mr.R had gone bonkers right then, when he gave permission to such blasphemy and even promoted those on his bookcovers.

0

@hikarinw
P.s. Oh, if what you want is more of those two, have you read CAMP HALF BLOOD CONFIDENTIAL?
Now that one is ADORABLE (which i was beginning to think Mr.R was no more capable of! And it was well written. A free pdf copy can be found at Ocean of pdf.com

0

I couldn't reply your latest comments so I write it here.

Don't worry about the blabbering mess you thought you did. It is interesting to know that other people didn't enjoy HOO as much as I did (well, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first series, but still...the stories managed to awaken the love I have for Percy and Annabeth which is why I give it a pass).

I already read the Camp Half Blood, even bought the book itself. Hahaha. It has the same sarcastic humor as the first series, so I enjoyed it very much. Although the narrators varied, but since Camp Half Blood is where this is all begin, it is not bad.

Agreed with your assessments on the movies. It is such an insult to the fans. Tho I must admit I had fun watching the movies when I took the books out from the context.

Seems like the new book doesn't have Percy and Annabeth. I think I am out for this time. I have learnt my lessons in Magnus and Apollo. A waste of money as I didn't enjoy them at all. Thank you for making my life easier ^^

In the latest episode of My Ajusshi, I noticed that Do Joon Young signed off his name in Hanja. It brought to mind my recent discovery that the Korean language did not quite have its own written form until the Hangul was invented. For the longest time, I thought Korean names written in Hanja had the same meaning as the Chinese characters. It turned out that those Hanja characters were chosen because of the pronunciation more than anything else. Am I right?

The only drama i am currently watching with much interest is SUITS. loving the show. PHS looks so so different. Whenever PHS comes on screen, i am like, this guy did not play the KING in hwayugi and the genius all smiley adorable guy in SWDBS. I mean he has totally molded himself into a darker sadder character.

Jang Dong-gun looks really good despite him being over 45+ years. I mean this Ajhusshi still looks so HOT in a suit and he is so damn charming. He is slaying as the ace attorney.

As for Greasy Melo,I am rooting for Poong and Saewoo. Whenver i see them together, i dont know why, but i somehow want to to kiss. Lets be honest here, 4 episodes, and this show has more kissing scenes than in any other drama.

Hi Beanies! I hope you've had a good week. I am super behind on my drama watching and I'm hoping to rectify that this weekend. The only two dramas I've been watching with any consistency is LET'S HOLD HANDS TIGHTLY AND WATCH THE SUNSET and C-drama HERE TO HEART, which I'm mildly obsessed with though I keep thinking so many of the lead couple's problems would be solved if they just COMMUNICATED with each other. I thought it was 36 episodes, but I saw something that said it's 46 and we're only on episode 22. Thankfully this show airs everyday so yay.

Hoping to catch up on my dramas this weekend! MY HUSBAND OH JAK DOO and WOK OF LOVE/GREASY MELO are at the top of the catch-up list.

@korfan and @rket593 This is rambly so forgive my longwindedness:

I have a weakness for dramas like this so I like it, but objectively speaking, it's mediocre, the execution is clumsy, and I feel like it would frustrate a lot of people. Han Hye Jin and Kim Tae Hoon are really great (their interactions are why I am still watching and are the highlight of the drama), but I wish the story was executed better. It's not boring, but it's also not super compelling. There are really great moments that really get you in the heart, but it sort of muddles its way through in other aspects, especially when it comes to the husband. I sometimes feel there might be stuff that is lost in translation because I don't understand the husband or his motivations. He's not a bad or mean guy, but I don't necessarily understand why he is appealing. He's not written well at all. I also think the synopses I've seen are not totally accurate. They give off the idea that she leaves her husband to find true love and that is not really what it is.

I think it's for a very specific kind of viewer and if you're able to look past it's flaws, you can appreciate the emotional elements of the story.

I do like it, which is hard to believe since I've talked somewhat negatively about iit lol, but you just have to manage your expectations. And there really are great scenes between Han Hye Jin and Kim Tae Hoon. I'll probably watch many of their scenes again just because I love them so :)

1

@shekk. Oh finally somr someone is watching hold me tight. For me my attachment for the husband is fade mainly because of the actor is potraying. He is also doesn't has chemistry with Han Hye Jin, compare to Kim Tae Hoon. So it's hard to root for OTP reconcile before she dies. Haha...

Required fields are marked *

They have ZERO chemistry! NONE! I know the point is they don't have this passionate love, but there isn't even a spark. I've never experienced 2nd lead syndrome until this drama. I wish it just totally focused on HHJ and KTH because the pair of them are just lovely together. I want to watch the last 2 episodes, but I know I will be upset if she spends her last days with her husband. I need cute doctor to be there with her at the end!

1

@shek. Lol me too me too. I rarely get second lead syndrome. It might the first time I strongly dislike OTP reconcile haha.

1

@sweetiepie54 Thanks for responding! I had read somewhere (or perhaps it was here at DB!) that this drama would involve cancer, infidelity and death .... certainly enough subject matter to make it compelling. It's too bad to hear it isn't. Like you mentioned regarding the execution, when it's not done right it can negatively affect a project. It does sound like it has good moments though, so that's good.

Yeah, someone else said on another site about the show that it's plain and that's exactly how I feel. It has all the elements to it that should make it a must watch, but it's just done in such a way that your just like "oh. okay." It's so odd. I like that it's not makjang, but it needs some oomph.

1

I don't understand this about Yoon Sang-hyun too! I've seen him in a couple of projects and he's great when he's being adorable, earnest, sincere, or funny, but sometimes they put him in this "suave, god's-gift-to-women" role and I have trouble connecting. :|

Mom insists that Joon-hee is somehow inferior and not a suitable match for Jin-ah, despite knowing that he’s a good guy. Too obsessed with so called status and she’s always hitting people. Aigoo. Perhaps they’ll elope. You would think she’d want them to have a baby.

Just finished Live. Well done by all hands. Writer, director, actors, crew. Is there an award for an ensemble cast? This team deserves it. No weak characters, every actor had a story, no useless fluff. By far the biggest surprise gift drama, did not expect anything as well crafted as this.

Buwahahahaha truck of doom would be useful but too easy for her. I want everyone to leave her, so she realizes that she is a horrible person. But it probably wont ever happen. Really disappointed with the writers.

Watching a Taiwanese drama from 2015, and 30 mins into the first episode, Truck of Doom struck.

And it made me think that I hadn't seen him for a bit. Is he being phased out? Or maybe he just isn't in any of the dramas I'm currently watching.

I've seen that pesky 🛵 lots of time...

OT week 66! Summer is upon us (I think we skipped spring) and with the summer means a lot more time doing outdoor activities and not as much time with dramas. So, I didn’t really feel compelled to keep up with anything this week. And less time on DB as well, but still a nice diversion.

So, the only think I watched was A Love So Beautiful (so not even a K-drama!). Man, can Jiang Chen be any more swoony when he does sweet things? I’m in the middle of this now, at episode 12 of 24. Still just savoring it. And it’s on Netflix now. The K-dramas I was so excited about have lost their luster a bit. (Pretty Noona’s mother figure is awful, and I can’t stand watching her antics, while Poem’s ships seem to have sailed, and maybe I was in this just for that, superficially. Still holding out for a twist at the end, so may pick it up after the finale.)

Conversation time:

Husband: I’m done with Pretty Noona. I fell asleep at the last episode.

Me: Well, her mom turned into the mother-from-hell, so you didn’t miss much.

Husband: I’m definitely done then, but you watch it and tell me what happens.

Me: It’s coming to Netflix in a couple weeks, I may wait until then to finish it.

Husband: What? So I won’t know what happens for a month?

Me: Well, you could always watch it before then.

Husband: No, I’m really done.

Me: Well, then I’m probably done too.

Husband: I’m serious, I’m done.

Me: OK, I’ll wait to see it later.

Later that day:

Husband: I watched the end of that episode (the one he fell asleep while watching). How far will her mom go? That’s horrible, we need to see what happens in episode 11!

Moral of the Story: Pretty Noona, you live to see another week.

Second Moral: Is this what a slump feels like?

Third Moral: Get outside and get some vitamin D everyone!

I am fed up with that character. I hate her so much I think I could never watch this actress in another drama even if she would play a role like Kim Min kyung in 20th century boy and girl, or Go back couple.

Hi Beanies! Happy weekend! All the Beanies’ short stories with gifs have been amazing! I am a technologically challenged person especially more so since my computer is still broken(T.T) and my phone loves to freeze and lag on me. But I like storytelling so I would like to share a dream that I had a couple months ago with you all. Sorry it's long:
Scene 1
My dream begins with my mom taking me to a wedding. I’m a romantic, but I find weddings boring for some reason, especially if I don't know the couple personally. I'm in a bad mood since I was dragged into a wedding of people I don't know. While I wait for it to begin, I put on my headphones and just zone out. The bride and groom come out and I start to pay attention. To my surprise and shock, it's my two best friends getting married: the bride is someone I know in real life while the groom is none other than Healer himself, Ji Chang Wook. I'm extremely hurt by the fact that they, my best friends, didn't tell me they were going to get married, let alone to each other. I also feel betrayed because I had a not so secret crush on JCW and it was clear that the feeling was mutual (obviously this is when I realized it was a dream, lol, also T.T). I’m staring intently at them with tears in my eyes while they are being married when I hear the rumor being spread around through whispers. It's a shotgun wedding! Double wham! I'm even more shook. Her dad forced them to get married when she found out she was pregnant. They don't look happy about the wedding at all. They left me in the dark and even though I am trying to read their minds, they are purposefully trying not meet my eyes.
End of Scene 1
Scene 2
The wedding is over and apparently they booked rooms for their guests at a hotel. I’m inside a hotel room and all I want to do is sleep it off. I dream (inside my dream, Inception! lol) that JCW comes to my hotel room and finds me sleeping. He tells my sleeping self that he is sorry that he messed up and that it is all his fault. He apologizes for hurting me and for not manning up and telling me beforehand of his mistake before the wedding. He says sorry one more time followed by a quiet goodbye. He leaves me my favorite candy on the bedside table and leaves the room. I wake up from my dream (inside my dream) with tears in my eyes. I've decided to forgive them. After all they were my best friends. I'm hurt, but I don't want to carry this bitterness inside me so I have to say goodbye and wish them well. I get up and see my favorite candy in the bedside table. My dream inside my dream was real and JCW really did come to say goodbye. I go look for them, but they are gone already. En route to their honeymoon.
End Scene 2
End of my dream
Beanies, not even in my dreams T.T

Some notes:
*It's terrifying for me to post something so personal and ridiculous, but also kind of fun.😊
*I sometimes have very vivid dreams that I can remember very clearly when I wake up.

3

@delurker. No, I have, certainly, with my boyfriend at the time. Let’s just say he was more interesting than Mr. Firth. Lol.

1

@ally-le I am jealous of you for having an ex-boyfriend capable of overshadowing Mr Darcy Himself :-)) (read the book too?)

I need a better 'jaw dropped' emoji than those currently available.

3

Lol! It sounds more exciting than it actually was. But first real BF and all, I was a little entranced by him. We still keep in touch though. I had no idea how rare these guys were, and so when I met one again, I snatched him up!

0

@delurker, yes, I’ve read all of her books and Pride and Prejudice multiple times! I’ve seen all the BBC productions and probably every movie remotely related to Jane Austen. And @bbstl, Colin Firth may not have been my type, but another BBC alum, Jonny Lee Miller, who has played two Jane Austen heroes—now, he’s a fine specimen. 😍

1

@ally-le Then we have a matter of differing taste; I wasn't too drawn to Jonny Lee Miller, actually... :-) But it is probably that I liked the P&P miniseries so much; I hadn't noticed Colin Firth in Valmont before that. *plans a re-watch* :-)

0

@delurker and @ally-le Are you both familiar with Mr Thornton of North and South? Played by Richard Armitage, he's a nice addition to the Darcy-like collection of misunderstood heroes.

3

@ally-le, @delurker and @egads
oooh! I feel so at home, like we could pull up chairs and have wine while comparing all the Austen books and various and sundry BBC series 😁🍷😍 That would be just about my my idea of the best way to spend an afternoon in all the world. @ally-le, have you seen the Indian and Mormon P&Ps? @egads, I forgot that I've been told to check out Richard Armitage before, thanks for the reminder!

3

@bbstl—Indian P&P-yes, Mormon-wth?

0

@ally-le This is the Mormon P &P, it's actually very kdramaesque now that I think back on it. Colorful, funny, a bit over-the-top.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0366920/

1

@ally-le @egads North and South is on my eternal watchlist, thanks for the reminder; I need to get on with it one of these days... :-) @bbstl , I am almost a Jane Austen collector, but I had no idea there was a Mormon version :-)) Definitely have to check it out. By the way, if any of you happen to be around the UK this summer, here's a plan: http://www.austentatiousimpro.com/
I hadn't had this much fun in a theatre in a long time...

1

@delurker This looks like amazing fun, but unfortunately none of the dates line up with my upcoming trip to London. :(

1

@delurker, that looks like such a blast!
I'm almost a Jane Austen collector as well and just today got a little book called "What Would Jane Do?" from Amazon, full of great quotes. I love her ❤️

@ally, some worthless trivia: I think Jonny Lee Miller was Angelina Jolie's first husband.

@egads, have a great trip to London!

2

@egads That's too bad; hopefully they'll keep it running long enough that there'll be other chances. But you won't be starved for things to do in London anyway :-) . @bbstl , that sound like my next kindle download... :-)

Aww, Jellybn, at least you got to check out JCW up close and personal in your dream! That's a great dream, very kdrama. I also have vivid and detailed dreams, my last one crazy one also involved a Korean. Kim Jong Un was coming here to the States to work with me on designing some handbags, he was coming on his green train but it had to be kept a secret. Because of course no one would notice that thing traveling halfway across the US continent. I woke up and said out loud, "well, THAT was a humdinger " and just laughed.

@bbstl,

The funny thing is, poppyseed is a soporific (sleep-inducer). Even the golden yellow California poppy, which is in a different genus, is a lovely herb for insomnia.

As for technicolor dreams of trains, here's a couple of "tracks" for you. ;-)

1

@ PakalanaPikake oh duhhhh, POPPIES!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Love it. My dream imagery often seems drug-induced😉

2

@bbstl,

Because our discussion started out in the Kdrama & food article's comments, I'm going to also post this link http://www.mofga.org/Publications/MaineOrganicFarmerGardener/Winter19971998/BreadseedPoppy/tabid/2414/Default.aspx to a nifty article on the breadseed poppy back there.

I know you don't like eating poppyseed, but I think you'll enjoy the ethnic info in it. I surely did.

I used to grow Papaver somiferum in my garden. [See -- "sleep" is in its species name.] The flowers are magnificent, and I noticed that the petals opened during the day and closed back up at night. It was not as obvious as with moonflowers and Datura, but I could observe it. I photographed them a lot because of the incredible purple pollen, so noticed the changes in the petals. It really surprised me. In addition to the familiar black and blue seeds, there are white ones, too. ;-)

TGIF! Hope everyone had good week. Mine was not so good -I took a test where passing mark was 75%, and I got 74% -what's up with that! - so I had to take it again, meaning I am behind drama watching which upset me the most. Still I was able to finish Grand Prince. I was worried if the show would give us a sad ending because they seemed to hint that the show was based on the historical figure Grand prince Soo-yang/King Sejo who took the throne from his young nephew. I was grateful the writer gave us happy ending.

Yoon Si-yoon who played the lead(Lee Hwi) had an interview.[OSEN] First he talked about his co-stars Jin Se-yeon and Joo Sang-wook. Yoon said Jin Se-yeon is kind and warm-hearted actress. "We did shoots on some very cold day when we couldn't even move face muscle well. I saw Jin was talking to some people who were extras." Yoon said that time actors changed their outfits in warm tent, but extras changed their clothes in old weather. "Jin shared her hot packs with them. There is niceness and warmth with her. It is given people get sensitive at the set, but she is a wise person who thinks one more time before she talks. I felt proud thinking I was working with good and nice people. It is well known fact that Jin Se-yeon is nice person."

About Joo Sang-wook who played his villain brother, Yoon said "He is an actor who gives 'impact'(powerful) acting as a male lead. Joo's acting is the acting style I like. I do petty acting, while he does clean and witty acting." Yoon added "Because he does work-out and his behavior is clean, his body condition is good. So I acted immersed in Joo's acting. But once camera is off, he is very funny. Because of him, set atmosphere was good. After the last scene we filmed together, I told him it was my honor to be able to act with him." Yoon also talked about how they are different doing variety. "Joo and my personalities are polar opposite. I don't feel free but he feels free and behaves like that. I pay attention to every action and every word. That is not good in variety, so I always struggle in that area. Joo said "if you make a mistake, just apologize.", but I can't seem to do that."

Yoon talked about how his beard in the show bothered some. "I was worried a lot about having beard. It had different response- My fans told me to take it off, but older people said I looked fine. I couldn't get rid of it because of show's flow. There was Sooyeom-pa(favor for beard) and An-Sooyeom-pa(thumbs down for beard) he said. "Jin Se-yeon was An-Sooyeon-pa. She liked it when I didn't have beard, so I even said how about we have a scene where Ja-hyun shaves Lee HWi's face." The show had many kiss scenes which people noticed. "Usually I feel embarrassed when director says 'Cut' on a scene where I get worked up filming a kiss scene, but this time I didn't have chance to feel embarrassed, because once we filmed a kiss scene, beard got stuck on the face. But I think I enjoyed love...

continues.. love relationship at my heart's content."

Yoon continued. "I am trying to do my best on every project. There have been some disappointments, but results were good so I am grateful. Personally I had trouble filming ep 7. I kept having NG doing my line. I told Jin Se-yeon that I was sorry, I was not prepared enough. I had better condition shooting ep 8, but surprisingly ep7 came out well, and ep 8 I worked hard came out so-so." He said he was satisfied with the outcome overall. "I can see my weakness. But overall I am satisfied- It is not satisfaction about my acting, but ensemble/team work produced good outcome. I always do, but I think I again acted by really failing in love. The evidence showing you are immersed in the show is that once 70% of show passes, you can expect contents or lines to come. You can guess the emotion coming in your way. I am happy the ending was what I dreamed of. Ending was good except the fact that we went to mountain for the shoot. We filmed 6:30 in the morning."

Last episode 20 got 5.6% which was no 1 ratings in TV Chosun programs' history. Casts carried out their ratings promise of free hug on 9th. "We never imagined we'd get these ratings. We doubted if it could go over 5%, but I was flabbergasted when people sent me congratulating messages. I am enjoying totally." He continued, "When we had the press conference, I whined. I couldn't sleep well. I worried what if we don't have good results. When a project does not go right, I even resent myself in the end. This time I also had fear. But even with my worry, I thought when a drama finishes, there is gain- you make tons of friends. They are all nice playing jokes and eat food together." He said that took the pressure off him. "I thought I'd just do well for my 1 person share and leave the rest to others. I learned that I am not supposed to cover everything."

About his variety appearance in '1n2d' Yoon said he wants to do the show until he is let go. "I was worried about being hated, but doing 1n2d, I learned to take some burden off as an actor and I'd like to do the show as long as I am allowed. If I can't do both of drama and variety with energy any more, I think I should stop." He is still called as Yoon Dong-gu. "I was called Dong-gu when I was young. It means Dong/East and Gu/Nine- meaning is weak. It was changed after I graduated the high school, but I got attached to the name Dong-gu." About 1n2d show, he said "It looks that I can't make people laugh if I pressure myself to do it. Sometimes I am very envious of Jun-ho hyung or Jung Joon-young who have natural variety personalities. I think my role is to show myself in earnest and thankfully people seem to look favorably so far." He kept himself busy by working continuously. "After my army duty, I haven't taken a break for more than 1 week. I was dying to work when I was in the army for 2 years. I like to do something productive. If I date, I hope I have...

continues.. I have the relationship we can develop/improve each other. It will be nice if we can give inspiration to each other." Yoon is known for his love for his fans. He even produced an album. "I am just doing it for my fans. It is embarrassing(not good enough) to present to people who are not my fans. My singing scores zero. I don't like my voice so it was hard to sing. I just sang for the people who really love me."

Well, I am sorry to say this- I didn't like him in Grandprince(lacked Charisma I felt). I like him as Dong-gu. Still I am happy for good outcome of the show I enjoyed. Fighting Dong-gu!
