Drama viewership ratings for the week of Sep. 24-30, 2018

The first batch of new shows has arrived, and they run the gamut in theme and in ratings. Numbers are still relatively low (I guess we’ll have to accept that this is the new norm), but it’s nice to see that some titles are hanging in there.
First off, we have Lovely Horribly doing kind of horribly and consistently losing numbers. Monday’s episode was their lowest number yet with only 1.0 percent ratings. Its competitor 100 Days My Prince, on the other hand, is going strong, as is its leads’ budding romance. The majority of Wednesday-Thursday dramas were moved to Thursday this week, giving us two big premieres. Not only did spy mystery My Secret Terrius and medical drama Heart Surgeons bring in decent numbers, but they’re also neck and neck.
Finally, for the weekend, we have My Only Ally close to breaking 30 percent ratings. It had two new competitors over on cable, with Player beating out breezy romance The Third Charm and making it the underdog. Meanwhile, hit drama Mr. Sunshine came to an end, officially becoming another entry in a string of successes for writer Kim Eun-sook.

The player had a great start with a solid rating. I was planning not to start the show as I already have so many dramas to watch but now I want to give it a chance + the cameo done by Yoo Seung-ho.💗

It is broadcast on Wed-Thurs 11 pm KST, same timeslot with OCN's The Guest. What's wrong with MBN? TV Chosun's Grand Prince was listed though.

I started Heart Surgeons out of the new dramas and I liked it. The next one will be Player. I want action, humour, bickering between cheeky and easy-going Song Seung-Heon and badass Krystal. I'm wondering whether these two dramas will include low-key romance. Low-key romance is my favourite.

I still have not figured out who are the good or bad guys in Hide and Seek. Maybe that is the intention? So far it seems like Soo A (the kidnapped daughter) is being the real evil one here.

This year the 3 public channels have shows that are actively competing and trying to take the 1st place.
Beautiful Mind's 4% rating wasn't enough and here in 2018 we have shows who are continuously rating below 3% and still complete their run.

Lovely Horribly; isn't a bad drama per say but there's absolutely no chemistry between the leads. The romance feels forced instead of natural and it has some of the most awkward kiss scenes ever. The worst of the worst was the "passionate kisses" in the elevator where it just felt like two people fighting each other. Staying onboard to know the end... The show's very good when the focus is on mystery... not so much when it bothers with romance.
It is my first time watching Park Shi Hoo... and nope doesn't work for me.
Ghost Detective is cruelly underrated. Choi Daniel and Park Eun Bin are rocking it and the plot is tightly woven with a romance that is very very low key but man the feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeels.
Well doesn't matter as long as they don't cut this show short. Choi Daniel's rugged look is smexy.

I was on board with Ghost Detective til the tunnel scene with the shaman. That was some gawd awful trope. They could have got more info in a more tasteful way.

Wow that 18% final number for Mister Sunshine is phenomenal. Again, it's on cable; remember when Misaeng was in the 3%-5% range and everyone was so amazed? That seems so long ago now.
