Name That Drama: Unlucky predictions and K-drama trinkets

Ready for another round of drama-sleuthing? Help out your fellow Beanies or email us your own questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.

  1. Not-so-creepy crawly

You’re the only person I know who has watched this many K-dramas. I recently stumbled upon some old K-goodies I had and found a crochet caterpillar keychain. My sister and I are pretty sure it’s from a K-drama but we have been racking our brains out and can’t remember which, do you happen to have any idea? I’m sorry, I know this is so random.

  2. A falling female lead

I vaguely remember watching this drama and I’m actually not even sure of what language it is in, but there was an arrogant stuck up CEO and he ended up throwing the main girl from the first floor of his office and she ended up landing on a pile of boxes? The only other thing I remember about this drama is that he loved his sister a lot.

  3. Boy music prodigy

Young man and woman meet, fall in love one night but are separated. She has his baby but (I believe) her father tells her her baby boy died and sends him to an orphanage. He hears music in wind blowing in a field of tall grass. He is basically kidnaped by a conman who earns money from his music abilities. At the end, he escapes and composes and directs music and his parents who somehow got back together are there while he is directing the music he composed.

  4. Fake horoscope reading

Hello Beanies! I’m re-watching You’re All Surrounded right now. There is a scene of Soo-sun reading Dae-gu’s horoscope from newspaper and suddenly a scene like this popped up in my mind but I don’t remember which drama it’s from and it’s bugging me now.

There are two persons, A and B (I’m not sure about their genders and whether they are the leads or not). A reads B’s horoscope on a newspaper and then tells B to be careful because based on the horoscope something bad would happen to B. Then the bad thing happens but B found out that A lied because there is no horoscope on the newspaper. Please help me take this bug out of my head.

  5. The good old money scam

This sounds like every K-drama ever, but the only scene I remember is a young guy who gets scammed out of his money. When he goes to the scammer’s office it’s empty of desks and now full of people who were also scammed and some of them also gets mad at the young guy because he asked them to invest with him.

Thanks for playing, everyone — till next time!

No 3 sounds very similar to an english movie called august rush. Guy is in a rock band and the girl plays the cello or something. They meet, spend a day together, get separated( I don't remember why). The rest is pretty similar to what you described. Not sure if there's a drama also with the same theme.

Yes, this is August Rush. I just watched this with my daughters and it's exactly this plot.

Love Freddie Highmore in it!
I don't think there is a K-drama version of it at all. That would be straight up copying the movie.

And goodness knows Kdrama would neeevvvvvver do thaaaat! *Heaviest dripping sarcasm ever.* Check out Couple Trouble (aka Fantasy Couple) and its identical script (for the first half) as American movie "Overboard" starting Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell. But there are many more. Doesn't bother me. I love seeing the Korean take on things.

That's not what I meant though. If there was a K-drama remake of August Rush we'd know already.
(The person asking is describing the whole trailer).
I just didn't thinking they'd make a K-drama out of it without officially stating they are indeed doing a remake like The Good Wife, Criminal Minds, Entourage, Suits, Life on Mars etc etc.
Fantasy Couple is loosely based on Overboard and they were upfront about it so we knew before it came out.

Like you, it doesn't bother me but I have my doubts with some.
I've loved a few Korean remakes like The White Tower (Japan), The Good Wife(US), Mother (Japan) etc.

The plot is very fairy-tale like but it oozes love for music. Twice a year watch.

The guitar playing in August Rush brings me to tears because most of it was styled after my favorite musician Michael Hedges. He died years ago, but his guitar playing (especially live) is legendary.

4 could be from My Love from Another Star. Do Min-joon has a dream that Cheon Song-yi falls off a boat, so he tells her that her horoscope says not to go near water. Later, she tries to read the horoscope for herself, but it doesn't exist.

# 5 sounds like the beginning of Live when Lee Kwan Doo goes to work only to find an empty office and his family and friends lost their money.

#5 sounds like the beginning of Live when Lee Kwang-soo's is scammed by the company he's working for and got friends/relatives to invest in. But, it could also be lots of others...

#3 is August Rush, one of my favorite movie. But it's not a korean drama.

I thought it sounded like August Rush too with Kerri Russell and a young Freddie Highmore, who is actually in an American remake of Good Doctor, so there is a kdrama connection there. Maybe that’s why they thought if it?

One time I almost sent in an entry because it was really bugging me, then I remembered that the separated twins scene was from an episode of House Hunters. XD

Can you imagine a kdrama based on this premise though? Identical twins separated from birth who find each other after going into similar jobs, looking for similar homes in the same neighborhood and then getting into a bidding war on the exact same house! There would have to be a murder/childhood traumatic experience to tie them together as well.

They'll also fight over the same love interest!

I remember there was a beanie who turned HGTV show titles into K-drama shows.

Now that you put it like this, the Parent Trap suits to be a Kdrama!

Last one sounds like the beginning of LIVE, but it was a water business scam, pyramid scheme, that Sang-Soo worked before joining the police force.

Im sorry for hijacking but it seems like you watch indian dramas if I may ask which sites do you use?
Also if you could help me I watched this indian drama a long time ago nd never got to finish it, there was a mom with two daughters nd they moved to another city because of a scandal with the eldest daughter nd they were going to this particular house but it turned out the person they were looking for wasn't there anymore but lead guy was there nd he let them stay, thts all I remember watching I've been looking for ages, I think it was a daily drama with a makjang plot kinda... hope you know something, nd its really old like 10/12 years old :)

Well I am an Indian so I watched IPKKND at TV in our home.
But there is an apps for viewing dramas for different channels like Hotstar, and the other names I forgot LOL ... But I don't know whether they are available in your country or not.
As for your given drama's description I am truly sorry...
I can think of 10 dramas in my head where one parent took their three daughters and moved to a different city... but nothing clicks in my mind yet.
I will let you know if I find out.

#5 sounds like LIVE, during which one of the future police cadets gets scammed in a Ponzi scheme. The bottled water company was a multi-level marketing deal.
