Drama viewership ratings for the week of Apr. 22-28, 2019

There wasn’t much change with ratings this week, but still plenty to talk about. The Monday-Tuesday trinity remains in tight competition, Haechi in first place and My Fellow Citizens and Special Labor Inspector Jo alternating second and third. All the while, the cable shows have barely budged from their average numbers.
Of course, you know the drill with the Wednesday-Thursday line-up. Doctor Prisoner is still on top, though I will say that it’s barely budged from its average numbers as well, that being 12 to 14 percent. Finally, for the weekend, we have sageuk Nokdu Flower replacing the very popular The Fiery Priest. And with a nice 11.5 percent rating on its first day, Nokdu Flower is already looking like a great successor.

I just finished the first two episodes and so far, yeah it is pretty good. It is a pretty brutal time period, so this story ain't gonna be pretty.

Am loving Nokdu Flower so far. Bowing to all the drama deities for bestowing is with this cast. our lead girl is one fierce lady.

Amen to the great cast!
Finally, a leading lady who fits her character to a T in a sageuk. A business woman through and through. Gotta have thick skin and brain to survive as a peddler and as a woman at that.
The great Kim Man-deok was a successful peddler in this patriarchal era so Han Ye-ri character is not a thing of fantasy.
Yay for a competent writer.

Hi @kiara. Of course I will be making the plunge into NOKDU FLOWER shortly. I scanned WWW for the early returns. The few comments I picked up seemed positive and I am super pleased with the initial ratings.
So far this year I have really enjoyed both THE CROWNED CLOWN and HAECHI.
For some reason I am a bit ambivalent right now about the now ARTHDAL CHRONICLES. Perhaps because it will be totally fictional. (Then again one might say that about TCC lol). I will wait until it gets closer to airing.

Hi bong-soo @marcusnyc20 I'll be waiting :).
As for the ratings I think it's on a good time slot on Fridays because there is no competition and it'll be lower on Saturdays facing other dramas.
Agree, we are getting some good sageuks this year.
I don't know what to think of ARTHDAL either. We have JTBC's MY COUNTRY too and it might end up being the dark horse.

Oh yes! Thanks for the reminder of MY COUNTRY! A couple of things:
1. According to its Wiki/AsianWiki pages production has begun with an airing in September 2019. That sounds like a preproduced drama to me; and
2. Viki seems to have developed a relationship with JTBC so hopefully Viki will pick it up (and we won’t have to sweat out where MC will be available).

Oh, I have completely forgotten My Country too! I loved The Innocent Man and The Package of the PD and the writer wrote the best episodes of Inspiring Generation.
For the casting, I like the all 4 actors announced.

Thanks @kurama. Another historical drama that has been below my radar.
I am a Yoo Ji-tae fan from HEALER and MAD DOG. I loved CHICAGO TYPEWRITER so this time period is important.
A plus is that DD is on the “Coming Soon” list at Viki. (Then again NOKDU FLOWER was on that list for awhile and then disappeared.)

Haechi is pulling solid numbers and my favorite, Doctor Prisoner is doing very well in the ratings. We are seeing that our favorite doctor isn't always infallible, but he is by far the best strategic player in the game.
When I get back from vacation I will pick up Nokdu Flower.

This is nice. I haven’t seen yet ABW’s episodes 7 and 8 because I am waiting for Viki subs to be completed. For the previous 5 episodes this OCN’s drama rating were over 3% and seem to be climbing up. Credit to everyone connected to this excellent drama.

Happy to see Her Private Life rating slightly moving up ... I really like the characters so far and the plot has been fun and heart-fluttering. Really digging PMY & KJW's chemistry 😘
