Drama viewership ratings for the week of June 17-23, 2019

What’s everyone watching this week? What’s everyone rooting for? While I, myself, am not tuning in to most of these shows, there are quite a lot of underdogs that I find myself cheering on. For instance, Monday-Tuesday rom-com The Secret Life of My Secretary will be ending next week, and it’s yet to pass the 5 percent mark. You can do eeet!

Wednesday-Thursday rom-com My Absolute Boyfriend hasn’t been doing so well either, especially with fellow romance dramas Angel’s Last Mission: Love and One Spring Night taking all the viewers. One Spring Night even managed to pull ahead on Wednesday, bringing in 8.1 percent. Meanwhile, with weekend shows, there wasn’t much change — not that they have to worry with those high numbers. I guess it’s a great time to be a weekend cable drama.

The Secret Life of My Secretary definitely deserves more love than it's getting but I can't say the same for My Absolute Boyfriend. It's just not a good drama.

I am watching a surprising number of currently airing shows by my standards and wish more love for Search WWW which is truly fantastic, so far my favorite show of 2019, and I think Ardhdal turned a corner with episode 7, I can't wait for the next episode. I hope they did not shoot themselves in the foot by that overly long introduction and people will give it another chance. Why did hide their ace so long?

Second the sentiment about Secret Life of My Secretary. It's a hidden gem that deserves more love and recognition.

I’m sad that NOKDU FLOWER isn’t pulling the numbers that reflect how good it is. 😔

Same. It should be getting all the views. But I'm glad its numbers aren't low, at least.

The numbers are very low for weekend dramas but luckily not as bad as different dreams.

NOKDU won't be remembered for the ratings but quality. I just hope that the unmatched ratings won't discourage others from making more historically conscious sageuks.
I've been waiting for 4 years since JEONG DO-YEON for Jung Hyun-min to write another sageuk. With him, history is delivered in a creative, articulate, intelligent, passionate way. A real treat for the history fans.

I like fusion/fantasy sageuks, but I was getting tired of them. I needed something meatier like this.

I've just finished SIX FLYING DRAGONS so watching another drama on those events might be too much, but I'm putting JEONG DO-JEON on my list for later. Thanks!

Perfume is holding steady at a pretty good number and so is One Spring Night. They are my 'go-to' shows right now. I am a little disappointed that One Spring Night hasn't managed to pull out of the crowd, it is just that much better than the other shows.

How is WWW doing so poorly in Korea? Granted I like Spring and Angel too but WWW is my absolute must watch.

This is pretty average ratings for tvN drama without a Hallyu star. The high ratings dramas in the summer last year was an aberration. Unfortunately/fortunately tvN is still focusing of diversity of content and not what pulls the highest ratings.

Who can tell me what drama will follow The secret life of my secretary? And again why isn't Joseon survival included here?

Joseon Survival probably isn’t coming into top 20 so doesn’t get reported.

I had the same concern when Channel A’s TWELVE NIGHTS aired. There were a faithful few of us beanies who watched but it’s ratings were minuscule.
Its highest AGB Nationwide rating was 0.608% for episode 2.
Sorry for the digression.

JOSEON SURVIVAL’s AsianWiki page has ratings through episode 4 so hopefully it will be updated.

I have watched through episode four at ODK.
I am aware that the opening scene of episode 3 turned off a number of beanies to the extent that they dropped it.
I hope that scene is a one off of writer-nim/director-nim being tone deaf to how a scene like that would be perceived.
I was impressed with Song Won-Seok’s emotional performance in episode 4 I like the sweet romantic pairing of him and Park Se-wan (INAR’s Pi). I liked the introduction of his “crew”. I took a look at the trailers and (not to spoil) but it looks like the boys of Joseon come to the future to help our hero out. I haven’t given up.

Twelve Nights was one of my favorites of 2018. I wonder if the once a week format has something to do with it.

What has happened to drama ratings these days? These numbers aren't even crossing 10 percent. Have people given up live television completely?

Search: WWW needs more love. The whole show is awesome and particularly I'm so glad Im Soo-Jung took on this role, it fits her so well.

Perfume's rating is going steady. Hopefully it maintains within the range or better if it goes higher 😊.

I think MBC's new 9pm timeslot is working for them, considering the ratings are picking up.

However there's this article that discussed is the new time slot really working (https://n.news.naver.com/entertain/article/057/0001361174)? According to the article, One Spring Night and Investigation Couple 2 were expected to rake in high ratings due to Pretty Noona's popularity and also Investigation Couple 1's popularity. Both dramas were expected to win the ratings game even if they were aired at 10pm against other dramas. In conclusion, the timeslot is still in experiment stage and MBC experimented with sure-hit dramas. It will be interesting to see how the timeslot will work with relatively less popular dramas.

Well..I think the 9pm timeslot will stay for now. It's not bad to have different drama timeslots..more options for viewers. Regardless..I don't contribute to ratings anyways 🤣

It seems the 9pm timeslot of MBC is working. Their shows even managed to lead the ratings. Oh well all i care is one spring night. The show just gives me all the feels. I hope the last 6 episodes will deliver.

Hi Everyone,
I am a University student doing currently my dissertation on how Korean tv drama influences potential tourists to visit Korea. I would be glad, if you could complete my questionnaire. It takes around 5 minutes to complete. Thank you and I appreciate it in advance. Please share it with other drama fans 😊
