Lee Min-ho goes from MoonSun to Rooftop

Okay, so this, I’m excited about. One of the standout actors from the childhood/teenage era of the hit drama The Moon That Embraces the Sun — Lee Min-ho (not to be confused with Lee Min-ho, natch) — has joined the cast of upcoming SBS drama Rooftop Prince, starring Park Yoochun and Han Ji-min. It looks like he was right when he considered Moon to be the last of his childhood roles, and well, no one’s really complaining around here that he’s graduated.

Rooftop Prince is a fantasy romance drama that stars Park Yoochun as a Joseon-era prince who tragically loses his princess bride, played by Han Ji-min. He travels forward 300 years to the present (because that’s how long it takes to get over your first love in Korea) and then gets a second chance with her present-day doppelganger. Or something. Jung Yumi will play the present-day love rival, and there have been rumors about Lee Tae-sung (Playful Kiss) joining the cast, but the reports are still unconfirmed.

Lee Min-ho will play the prince’s teacher, a genius (of course) named Song Man-bo, and the youngest man in history to pass the civil service exam. It’s pretty much his buddy Yeom in Moon, right? Except in this case he’s actually younger than the prince he’s teaching, which should make for some funny reversals. His character apparently has a photographic memory, which I don’t think counts as genius, but whatever. I just hope he’s along for the ride into the fourth dimension. I mean, you need a geek onboard to operate the time machine, right?

Rooftop Prince airs Wednesday-Thursday on SBS and premieres March 14.

News starting with Lee Min Ho is always thrilling, but this was only until I looked at the photo. I was fooled te first thing in the morning :) He might consider adopting a stage name.

I wonder what kind of geek will he be - the one to explpore te modern world for the prince or the one that will hold onto traditional views no matter what happens?

The problem with the stage name idea is that this Lee Min-ho actually debuted five or six years before the other one. It's just that the other one got a lot more famous. It's the Jung Yumi problem -- which one do you insist needs to change the name? Or do you just deal with the confusion?

I'll take this Lee Min Ho over "the other one". This kid is talented, humble and respectful. Love how he handles the anti-fans who are mostly the other LMH fans.

Naah, just deal with the confusion guys ... All we have to do is just taking time to read the whole article or look at the picture. It won't be fair to ask any of them to change his name. Besides, up to this level all news about either LMH seems worth to follow ^_,^

Maybe one could simply go by "minho", without the lee. Don't a lot of actors take up 2-syllable names? Like jisung, hyunwoo, woori, gongyoo, hyunbin, wonbin, jaehee, kimbum, shinae, sooae, gosoo....

eh...just tried to search on soompi and it turned out to be a comment on the article saying Kim Hyun Joong (no, not the singer) changed his name to Kim Woo Bin.

Seriously, fans should stop commenting on it. As if he's doing injustice to the name.

oooooh, nice!!! :D Just the other day I read that this LMH had to apologize to LMHot's fans coz they got irked with him abt what he said in the interview when questioned how he felt on recently being more popular than LMHot. They wanted him to change his name or something....that was one of the most bizarre-o things I've heard. These cray crayy fans take obsession to an entirely new level.

I am now officially very, very, VERY excited to watch Rooftop Prince :D!!! I love Lee Min Ho's acting because it's just so natural and effortless and now I can't wait to see him shine in his first adult role.
And it seems like the name Lee Min Ho is very popular (isn't Boom's real name, Lee Min Ho?) but I hope he doesn't change his name due to anti-fans since he did debut first

Ooh, i was originally going to tune in on rooftop prince but this is like the cherry on top! Just yesterday I was moping about how lee min ho was no longer on moonsun. The heavens are so generous!

About the name change -- I personally don't care about them having the same name. I dont get confused to the point that it bothers me. Usually every article has a piece Of info that tells you which One theyre talking about. Names are an identity. If the guy chooses to keep his name, so be it :) LOVE BOTH

i was really impressed by his acting in moon... i've seen him in roles here and there over the years, but i think moon was where he finally shone.

by the way! he's still totally recognizable as little jung-bae from the soonpoong clinic sitcom! (that's also where song hye-kyo started getting popular) i grew up with that sitcom, so it has a special place in my heart :) hehe

in the US screen actors guild, a new member has to change his name if an existing member has that name, thats why Michael J Fox always uses the J. How do you market yourself otherwise? That's why Rain could not use the name, because an obscure beatles tribute band in America is called
Rain. (Although few Americans ever heard of them)
