Call for minion applications: Recap for Dramabeans!

It’s time for minion tryouts! I can’t believe it’s already been more than three years since our last call for applications. (Where does the time go?!) Try as we might, we haven’t had the capacity to cover all the fantastic dramas out there. Join the Dramabeans family and save a show from languishing in obscurity!
If you’re passionate about dramas and would like to be a part of our crazy family, we want to hear from you. We’re mostly in search of recappers, but are also interested in news writers (news requires literacy in Korean). We do pay after an initial training period.
Instructions for recaps:
- Write a sample recap of an episode not recapped on Dramabeans. Make sure to include a comments section. No screencaps necessary.
- Tell us about you and a few of your favorite dramas. You don’t have to write an essay; we just want to know a little bit about you and how your tastes run. Also, let us know if you need subtitles, or if you can recap raw episodes from Korean.
- If you have a blog, send us your link. This does not replace the sample recap step.
- Email your sample to hello @ dramabeans.com. We’ll accept Word or text documents, PDFs, or recaps written into the body of the email.
Instructions for news:
- Select a news article from a Korean source, on something we haven’t written about on Dramabeans. Write a news post and send us the link to the original article.
- Tell us about yourself and what areas of news most interest you.
- Email your sample to hello @ dramabeans.com.
Deadline: Midnight on Tuesday, August 13, 2019
Tips:
- Make sure your sample is proofread and ready to publish. (We won’t be publishing them, but we want to see a finished product.)
- You don’t have to recap the first episode of a series, but they are easier to follow. You might have better luck with a first episode than one in the middle.
- Spend some time on the comments section. Pretend nobody’s watched the show yet, as though you’re recapping it on the day it aired.
- Don’t worry about sounding like us or using our lingo; we want you to sound like you.

Did you ever read the ones that JB and GF did? Were they randomly watched an ep of different variety shows. They were so fun because of the cultural and personal context they could add about the personalities.

I started watching RM after those but loved going back and reading them as I hop scotched through eps.
This is the Variety Roulette they and another did. I read them all cause just fun writing, but still haven't seen many of the shows. Just linking here in case any new readers want to go down memory lane.

They mean your personal comments about the ep you recap. All the recaps have one at the very end. It is just where the recaper puts some of their personal opinions, reflections, and predictions.

As @pakalanapikake states, time is the issue. If I could operate on 3 hours of sleep a night, maybe. But I already have two jobs I get paid to do and another that volunteer to do, and two kids and a hubby in the mix. If I were retired, and my kids were self-sufficient, definitely. So if kdramas and DB are still around in 15 years, you guys know who to call! 😜

Is it just me who arcs up at the term "minion"?
For me, they were always contributors, recappers and that is something to be respected and I am always astounded by their skill and insight.
I never want to think these brothers and sisters are here to be servile. Sure, we see things differently sometimes, but no-one ever disrespected those who work so hard.

It is just you. If I recall correctly from my fuzzy memory, the word started being used around here years ago when dramabeans only consisted of Javabeans (and Girlfriday?) as a humorous and endearing term. Nothing beyond that.

What I wanted to do was a news outlet of new kdramas coming in...the famous Press Conferences!!! Love fashion and also the questions, chemistry between co-stars, and pictures!!! I once e-mailed dramabeans, but never got a reply...maybe because they probably won't accept news posts about Press Conferences only.
But, I wish all of the beanies good luck!!!
Meanwhile, I'll use my Fan Wall for fashion posts about Hotel Del Luna. Maybe I'll start using it for Press Conference fashion posts too, who knows!

Hey no, the comments section is the recappers own thoughts. You would see on recaps here after the recapper is done recapping the show, they would then comment on what they felt about it, like 2,3 paragraphs long. You will find that in every recap, it is not the readers comments.

Hello ,I can write recaps of kdrama with English subtitles. I am currently watching hotel del Luna. My favourite dramas are the legend of the blue sea,memories of the Alhambra,secret garden . I like watching fantasy dramas and I understand Korean UpTo some level
