Ji Chang-wook and Won Jin-ah thaw up in teasers for sci-fi romance drama Melt Me

When a cryogenics project goes wrong, the lives of two individuals go completely awry. Ji Chang-wook (Suspicious Partner) and Won Jin-ah (Life) play the two people who participate in a televised experiment that’s supposed to have last for 24 hours. Ji is a famous PD who’s known for his fun variety shows. The televised experiment was supposed to be his latest hit project.

Instead, when they wake up, they realize that 20 years have passed. The recently released poster shows the two characters staring at each other intensely while the copy reads: “33 degrees Celsius, the moment when we were the hottest.”

We also have two character teasers, one from Won Jin-ah’s perspective and the other from Ji Chang-wook’s view. The teasers both begin the same way, with the respective characters seen frozen and unconscious. Even the voiceover begins the same way: “Cryogenic human project. They promised to unfreeze us after 24 hours…but we awoke 20 years later.”

At the beginning of the teasers, the timer in the corner starts counting from 12 a.m. on September 28, 1999. It suddenly begins speeding up as each respective character awakens to present day, 12 a.m. on September 28, 2019.

Then we see both characters sitting alone in their respective rooms, staring outside. This is where the character teasers diverge. Won Jin-ah lets out a huge hopeless sigh as she stares off into the distance and asks herself, “What do I do now?”

Ji Chang-wook yells into his phone, “2019?” in an unhappy are-you-kidding-me tone. Then the phone slowly slides off his ear, and he also lets out a sigh as he thinks, “I’ve been asleep for 20 years.” He looks confounded as he sighs to himself, “Aish, 20 years.”

Saturday-Sunday sci-fi romance drama Melt Me will begin airing on September 28 on tvN.

Ji Chang-wook, as tempted as you may be, don't go picking the nose of someone else...I hope his finger at least smells nice for Won Jin-ah's sake.

I'm cautiously optimistic that it will be a better outing than K2 for JCW. I'm happy to see Won Jin Ah again. She was just a rookie in Just Between Lovers, I think ... but has been headlining shows since.

I like the last image in the previews with JCW looking out and WJA doing the same in the 'upside down' in mirror image. Yes, their lives have been turned upside down in tandem, indeed! I wonder if they'll get any proper compensation ... 🙄

Can you imagine if this was real life? The law suit, lol.
Anyway! Looking forward to this one. I wanna see how these two cute ducks navigate a new pond together and individually.

Just curious -- if your hair is frozen on your head for 20 years, does it still come out looking lush and beautiful afterward?

if it's kdrama land, the answer is yes! you'll also wake up with a face full of make-up too

Though in their defense make up would make sense since this was for tv lol
I don't think I'll try out that experiment on my hair though...

Well, I think being cryogenically frozen isn't the same as being put in a regular ole freezer. I don't think one is supposed to get icy or anything...

Just looked it up and apparently there are ways to lessen or avoid ice damage so it depends on which way they did it for the show.

Hugely excited to see WJA again and totally expecting her to kill it in this show. Cautiously optimistic about JCW and the overall premise of the show.

As long as there's no Passengers-esque "Sleeping Beauty" twist somewhere in there... count me INNNNN!!! Just finished Suspicious Partner and was about to go into Ji Chang-wook withdrawal.

Still have a month to wait but at least there will be no availability angst. MELT ME is on Viki’s “Coming Soon” list under the title MELTING ME SOFTLY.
Welcome back Ji Chang-wook.

Honestly, when I read the part where they wake up 20 years later, my first thought was, "How many awesome dramas do they need to catch up on?"
