Happy Friday, Beanies!

Just dropping by here on OT to congratulate you all for making it through this week! I know it might be hard for some of us but those little achievements we had this week are a big step!

This is coming from someone who never knew taking things slowly and appreciating yourself will actually benefit you (it did took a while for me). And also, please don't forget to drink lots of water!

Let's encourage one another. Thank you, Beanies, for being the most wonderful people on the internet!

I was also having the same week but I remembered that what I need the most right now is encouragement from myself and everything suddenly became a little bit better. I wanted to see some encouragement and I know many people, like me, needed one so I posted this here ❤️

I hope we're all going to have our upcoming weeks to be better to compensate for this tiring week! Fighting!

Can I say that I am trying to keep a positive/philosophical eye not just on the upcoming weeks, but the upcoming several years? (Taking the long view, lol.)

My mother told me that this year I entered samjae, the three years of bad luck (in Korean horoscope). That's right, three years. So depressing & unnerving. Thanks, Mom. :(

Can I ask how she determines that?

I would be all....Dont tell me that. Even if I dont believe it I will now think of it. Everyday.

0

@bcampbell1662, it is based on your Chinese horoscope birth year or animal sign. In every cycle of 12 years, each animal sign will have 3 years of samjae. My samjae ends at the end of 2021 (which feels like a long time from now).

Funnily enough, I think she was alerted to it at the back of her Korean telephone book, lol. I don't know if it was just general information or an advertisement for a fortune teller in her area.

It's pretty commonly known (superstitious) information, but I really didn't want to know! Or at least I wish she had also gotten a talisman for me from a fortune teller to ward off the ill luck... ;)

1

@jamieopso I didnt know about the 3 years bad luck part of the Chinese zodiac. I dont want to know about my sign's. Nope.
I dont know how much I believe in horoscopes, but last year I read them at Lainey Gossip. Her mom did the readings. Looking back on it it was fairly accurate in some aspects, so then this year I was like....do I want to read it, lol.

1

@bcampbell1662 Yup, I did not want to know. And she keeps bringing it up!

Right now it makes me second-guess taking on new challenges and also makes me feel like I am in some kind of grueling endurance contest, lol. I must be more susceptible to this kind of thinking than I thought!

1

@jamieopso she is probably more worried than you. Poor mom.

1

True. She is worried. So don't find out yours! Ignorance is bliss. :)

0

Will this bad luck come whether you believe it or not or do you have the power to stop it by having faith and speaking against it? Whenever i get unnerved or depressed i try to look for videos that counter my basic foundamental fear. Can you find a video of actors or celebrities who had good luck in the supposedly bad samjae years?

0

@scifiwritir Depending on who you listen to, you can only try to mitigate your bad luck by avoiding certain situations, certain actions, etc. Or by buying good luck charms! :P

But of course there is always confirmation bias in how we respond to these predictions. You could have 10 good things happen to you, but the moment a bad thing happens (which is inevitable, right?) you or someone else might say, "See! It's your bad luck!"

1

I have Vietnamese and Chinese friends who mention similar belief, although for them, the rough part is "only" a year long, not 3. Also , the tough year is during your your year (i.e if you were a dragon, each dragon year could actually be rough) -- unlike for the samjae that seems on a different calendar (based on the first article that showed up on my Google search).

Regardless, I don't believe in it, but I do believe that my life isn't always smooth sailing and that some years are tougher than others...

1

@halfmoon I wish it was "only" a year! Then it would be half over already. And then I could stop hearing about it from my mother when the lunar new year comes (and also stop secretly & irrationally worrying about it myself). ;)

And yes, I think some years are definitely smoother sailing than others!

0

Same to you @sensationalfantasy!

I've been happily figuring this out with a semi-retirement plan in place. Yes to self-appreciation and drinking water! More sleep too will be best, but the battle is real between sleep and dramas. 😂

Hello fellow Beanies, hope you'll have great weekend.
I have mini weekend yesterday due to national holidays, spent day with highschool friends and had really fun time.
But now I feel like dark cloud looming over, following world news and events at Hong Kong and Kashmir make me feel angry and helpless and I'm so fed up with celebrities blind nationalisms.

I’m also fed up with the mass cyber bullying. My poor Mr. Temp’s IG was under attack because he liked a friend’s picture that supported HK and weibo drama translator are going to boycott all his dramas until he makes a statement. WTF? He’s Korean, not Chinese! He owes Cnetz and CCP no apology. 🤬

He’s also old enough to have lived through the martial law days of SK so he’s probably relatable.

Case in point, here’s another bad guy actor (child abuser in Mother) saying I don’t give a f*ck.

https://www.soompi.com/article/1345957wpp/kang-han-na-oh-hye-won-apologize-for-behavior-during-a-play-son-seok-gu-denies-any-bad-behavior

3

@geliguolu I don't agree with cyber bullying. C-netz going after Korean actors who voiced different opinion are ridiculous. They have more than 1B people who support their government and still feel insecure over 7-8 M people who don't like Beijing presence.
Yes probably, but HK situation now is not the same compare to South Korea under military regime.

1

@geliguolu, thank you for the link! I had no idea ha has and instagram, second I'm happy DS:60D crew get along so well, third it obvious he has very little exposure to pissy netizen, hope he won't have to apologize for this later.

1

Beanies I knew I could count on you! I was trying to get Google Translate to do his post and it was not working plus my regular searches weren't hitting any news items (wow Google must not index Soompi...) to explain what was going on. Big mwah!

0

Sigh. There isn’t any winning for the celebs also. Support China and be labeled a traitor and money grabbing. Support the protests and lose your job and get blacklisted.

I think the saddest part of this is that Humans are causing other Humans so much hurt. Why? Why must such things happen. Why do we do such things to each other. In the end, we all bleed red.

Jackson has it hardest. I wish he could give up China market. He’s being bullied by Knetz and Hknetz and of course if he didn’t repost the flag guard hash, the cnetz mob will escalate his silence and force him to take a stand more visually and verbally. Sometimes it’s not as simple as giving up his personal earnings from China. See what they did to the Twice girl.

Jackson made his choice few years ago when stopped identifying himself as "from Hong Kong". I, in some parts understand him, but will not excuses, because in the end it was a choice, and he made his.

@shach I am praying Elkie and ViVi do not sell out Hong Kong like Jackson in the future.

0

I agree @michykdrama. Humans are the ones who are not flinching while causing their fellow humans harm. It worries and shocks me how people forget that they too are mere human beings and what they are doing to others could happen to them too. Wars and protests always make me worried for everyone but to more extent women and children. Because harming them for the perpetrators is nothing more than showing the others that they have control and they can suppress. Hopes and prayers for everyone's safety.

A few years ago, Jackie Chan's son was arrested during a major drug bust. My personal feeling is that he was charged and let off with a light sentence. If the Chinese government wanted to, it could him with dealing then sentence him to death. Whether Jackie Chan had actually helped his son or not, he "owed" the Chinese government.

Other celebs likely "owed" Chinese government in some ways too. It won't hesitate slapping a serious accusation on anyone, including celebs or their family members, then make them "disappear".

My issue is that lately Viki is not doing subs very well lately. One of my shows is a full week behind. Translators should be paid for their work; if volunteers are busy or don't want to work on a show that isn't as good as they expected, I completely agree with them! But I'm paying Viki a premium membership (w/ kocawa content) they should pay for translations.

One thing I don’t understand in the Viki business model is why Kocowa dramas that air on Viki are being subbed by Viki volunteers when the dramas are already being subbed by Kocowa. That doesn’t make sense to me. WELCOME2LIFE is an current example.
Save Viki volunteer subbers for non-Kocowa dramas.

Happy weekend Beanies!

Turtie has another introverting weekend to enjoy! It is cozily settled between two birthday sleepover weekends, which makes it even more enjoyable to relax on my sofa with my laptop for a bit before I am off again.

Yesterday was also a national holiday, so I had Wednesday evening and a whole Thursday to spend on my chores, and Korean class and Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung with my friend. It has a lot of pretty…storytelling. ;) We are watching episode 3 tonight, but first I need to finish my Korean notes and homework this afternoon, so that I can hopefully enjoy some Special Labor Inspector Jo or other K-dramas this weekend!

Volunteering is going good. I volunteer with children twice a week and sometimes with adults in something like a 'course' a few times a year. It's great to be with different people, to share and to listen and to grow together. However it takes my personal time to prepare, so I need to put my me-only drama times aside sometimes and focus on giving.

Continue from Last week -

Protest here, protest there. Protests Everywhere.

China - Hong Kong, Taiwan - trade wars.
India - Almost same as China now.
Russia - seasonal Opposition protests that yield no results whatsoever.
Middle-East - done for
Arabia - yemen - Iron - done and dusted
Poor african countries - civil wars. poverty. already torn
South America - drugs, mafia, violence and protests
USA - Election - North Korea, trade wars, Iran
South Korea vs. Japan - Trade boycott

2019 surely is showing the new political climate. Chaos. Lively.

Then we Brexit too. @boughtabride I disagree on Voters. These politicians are part of society. They are here to attain power, win elections. They will use whatever means to appease the audience. Right Wing is speaking the language of majority of them were unable to say out loud in public. Right Wing and SNS gave them a platform to broadcast their extremist views and form groups. Right Wing parties didn't brainwashed them. They just brought people bigotry on surface. They took advantage of people anxieties, insecurities and global economical environment played huge role in amplifying all these -ve emotions.

they do have to take responsibility (voters) and i'm not sure what my last comment said. the onus is not on the voters, though, it is on the levels in which the voters are manipulated into it.

for every person who made a poor voting decision--no matter who they were or what demo--there's the problem with racial voter suppression. abrams would have won in GA, ostensibly, had this not happened. the people with less power cannot be held responsible solely for those in power. responsibility can only go so far when a system is purposefully set up for one outcome.

it's not as if any of this is new. i'm young, but i've lived in the US (as a citizen, i've lived other places) my whole life. i am a black american woman with a father who is an [nigerian] immigrant. i can tell you, this "great america" hasn't been so great to my people--before or after tr*mp.

also it's not just conservatism. neoliberalism is a plague. there's no one reason for these outcomes, there's several but as much blame is on the voters there's also the lack of education and/or the CLEAR racism, misogyny, etc. it's not so black and white.

@boughtabride Wonder if you have read The 1619 Project in the New York Times Magazine.

From Race/Related in the NY Times: "It tries to show that, in America today, everything from the absence of universal health care to our dependence on sugar — even traffic — is in some way connected to slavery and its legacy."

In case you haven't, here is the link to The 1619 Project: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/08/14/magazine/1619-america-slavery.html?te=1&nl=race-related&emc=edit_rr_20190817?campaign_id=37&instance_id=11720&segment_id=16254&user_id=8c661bde19530a03fc4693cabc758254&regi_id=7708499720190817

Here are its opening lines: "The 1619 Project is a major initiative from The New York Times observing the 400th anniversary of the beginning of American slavery. It aims to reframe the country’s history, understanding 1619 as our true founding, and placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of the story we tell ourselves about who we are."

Politicians everywhere are the same. Where there are humans there is greed that leads to corruption. Not even human gods can create a perfect world with no vices or desires.

@shach @geliguolu trump is less harmful among his comrades from other countries. You don't want to cross paths with Putin, Erdogan, duterte, xi xinping and modi like people( they and their blind followers can kill you any day)(not like trumps followers are any better).

This quote became popular in past few years - nationalism the last refuge of the scoundrel
(These politicians have no ideology. They don't even care about their own parties. A party is just a mean to attain power and centralisation of it)

You can raise your voice in USA. In other countries you might end up facing the wrath of state.

@geliguolu Exactly those checks and balances are saving the general populace. But not from trump. from those who are using Trump to shoot.
Trump isn't the danger. the danger is the path he has opened/created which will be effectively used by someone more Competent and vile in future. Trump at best is an experiment. A successful experiment. Via him the limits of every independent Institutions are being tested and then majoritarianism gonna strike.
@stpauligurl we all are responsible for it to some extent. We always try to distract ourelves from rhe realities of our world and when those hard winds start to strike us we get worried and by the tome we stand up we learn that every sensible voice is getting drowned in Noise pollution.
We all are voicing ourselves online but we all know that we have missed the timing.

6

@catocat
"Trump isn't the danger. the danger is the path he has opened/created which will be effectively used by someone more Competent and vile in future. "
You are absolutely on point with those words...

Actually I only say that I watch the dramas to stop being so upset. But I'm very political and waste no time telling people to VOTE - but more importantly to vote intelligently - not just how their parents or spouse or bf votes.
However, the Republican party in the US has become so vile as to manipulate the last elections so it's hard any more to feel like my vote has any meaning any more.
sigh - but I won't give up....

1

this is why we need to get rid of the myth of less harmful tbh.

1

for @stpauligurl, in the US specifically (if we go by the west/more "democratic" countries) it is really hard to stay positive about the state of voting because of the electorate. our voting system is so bizarre!

to the rest of the thread/@catocat -
there's no action without consequence. whether we get something "worse" or not does not lessen the immediate effects. what he has done, much like reagan's era, will negatively affect us for YEARS and YEARS to come. we need to coterize and uphaul; it isn't just the GOP or conservatives in this party/the world. can't really get into it but conservatism, neoliberalism, the myth of partisanship etc

i'm not sure how far this personal responsibility argument can go but i don't think it matters at this point. there are lots of reasons why people do not pay attention though i believe a working knowledge of social justice, politics, and history not only expands your mind and makes you a better thinker, it vastly helps with empathy.

however, some people do not have time. the mainstream media is VERY irresponsible. most people do not understand the 'c' word, the 's' word, what exactly is wrong with these systems, and the systemic issues with them. it's very surface level. on one hand, we are selfish...on the other it's warfare. people need to survive, make money, they need to breathe. overloading on information, misinformation, constant trauma allows people to be complacent or think it is normal (IE working so hard you're physically sick yet still go to work and we think that that's "hard work" as oppose to a gross misuse of power and exploitation of labor.)

yes it is imperative to know more and do more. i think to live in the world period we need to care about everyone in our world and take care of the disadvantaged first. i believe in very radical movements HOWEVER--not to mention that although people may have just begun learning (and it depends on your privilege, at that)--people have been fighting for years.

grassroots organizations, those who believe (if misguided imo) they can change things from the inside, whistleblowers, artists. it exists, it has exist, and it will continue to. i cannot speak to pessimism or optimism (google afro pessimism and afro futurism!) but there has never been a time where people--most notably black qu**r people with whom credit doesn't lie--have NOT stood up for themselves or gained the knowledge to understand they are worthy of dignity, humanity, peace.

there are people risking their lives (what i know the most of is brazil and that series of events and glenn greenwald's coverage that is literally costing him and his colleagues their lives.)

2

would also like to mention that the US and many other countries have less staunch rules about dissent but all this means is that people will literally fight to the death for their future and their life and the rights of others. some will take that chance.

that being said, there are PLENTY of functions to silence us as well. free speech is a myth. many black activists have been murdered since the start of BLM (post- ferguson) and hav ebeen flagged by the FBI as extremists. this has happened CONSTANTLY and is exactly how fred hampton was murdered bc of the FBI and COINTELPRO. just like the president and the FBI at the time of MLK tried to get him to commit suicide

tactics are tactics and will be used to suppress by any means necessary. like how now, in 2019, in the USA! abortion was literally banned and a potential shakedown of roe v. wade but in SK in 2019, a way different and sexually conservative society (and during all the burning sun shit!), abortion is not illegal. things are easier to speak for sure in the US but it's still awful. or for example the anti-BDS bill stating you literally cannot even support boycotting divest sanctions, which means supporting anti-apartheid efforts, without jobs being at jeopardy in some (2?) states. and people STILL do not understand what these issues are because they are framed incredibly poorly and falsely.

we will find ways around restricted speech and bring light to just how that speech is restricted via media, laws, policy etc.

also, again i reference optimist/pessimism. what i really mean is what if we stayed practical and realized that there are no limits to what we can do. i choose to believe this world will be better in someone's lifetime. because this is not the way we should live and this is not true human nature but indeed the lies we have created surrounding it. our societies, our world, could be holistic and beautiful because there have been times in history of beautiful harmony or true democracy and an expansion of society for better, happier, cleaner outcomes.

2

He is less harmful because of forefather instated checks and balances and our long history of calling out politicians. Still he is constantly trying to push the limits of his powers. He is no better. I can’t imagine how it would life be if we can’t speak up against bad politicians.

In my country, police have no power against the so-called Cadres, they even slap them on public. They are above the law

3

Yes we are lucky to live in a democracy that allows us to speak up - but that seems to be changing.
Probably one of the scariest things for me about tRump is that he really does not seem to be aware or intelligent and creating so many more problems as a result. Because he is surrounded by corrupt politicians who will not hesitate to use his idiotic ramblings and tweets to move their own agenda.
So tRump isn't the worst leader, but he is no less dangerous imo.

This is why I watch foreign dramas about fantasy, romance and silliness - it keeps my mind away from rl which is very frightening right now.

I was just reminded of Aziz Ansari's open to SNL after the election and how he cant believe it made him a little wistful for George W. Bush.

It's been a short work week over here but new projects are coming in. It's all good, except that I'd like more time to just vegetate with dramas.

12 episode series are pretty OK. There's still enough time to develop the plot and characters if they keep it relatively simple, and useless fluff is done away with. More series would benefit from being edited and made much shorter!

Happy Friday beanies! Finally have some time to start a new drama. Class of lies, moment at 18 or the one about the timoanist ( can’t remember the name) help me out!

By chance, I watched the debut of LITTLE FOREST, the first variety/reality show replacement for early week dramas. The premise was fairly standard: have four single celebrities with no child rearing skills run a nature camp for five kids (aged 4 to 7). It was good. But the problem for the network is that the little kids are the stars of the show.

And that is a problem - that the kids are the stars? Frankly I LOVE it!!!

I was wondering about this. It got better ratings than the scripted dramas, so now I’m thinking the networks may go the way of US and put more variety in place of dramas in prime time, as it’s easier and cheaper.

Happy Friday, Beanies!

I had a great week - ditched the boys and went on a vacation with my gfs!

It's strange that I was away just over 5 days and I feel kinda disconnected when I came back. Maybe it's because I am hardly watching any show at the moment. The only drama I'm watching is Watcher - other than the weecap thread, no one is talking about it.

I'd probably try Let Me Hear Your Song and A Moment At Eighteen next. Am I making the right choices? I like what I am reading(just a quick glance without spoiling too much) in the comments on these two shows. On another note, I saw the comments on HDL and I'm glad I am not watching the show.

On the issue of lack of chemistry between IU and YJG, Jin Goo's lack of personal romantic experience has always been blamed. Does the actor need to experience something before he acts it out? I think most of the time, actors take on characters and act in situations which they have not personally experience. Is this what acting is about?

Hope you had a great trip Outie!

Definitely recommend M18.
Am watching hear your song - it’s worth watching. I won’t say it’s great but it’s intriguing. And with classical music as backdrop I like what am hearing.
Am also enjoying Rookie Historian.

Thanks Blue, I had a memorable time.

Hear Your Song- I'm glad to read that Kim Se Jeong is doing quite well. I liked her in School 2017. And I heard the PD is the one who did Tomorrow Cantabile? That's a show I enjoyed and the music too.

I will pick up Rookie Historian again. Maybe I'll watch it concurrently with these two!

I think he’s doing fine. It’s not a full on romance between them. He will eventually have to part with her so an all intelligent and high EQ guy, as his character supposed to be, shouldn’t make her fall in love. The relationship is platonic so even at the moment they confessed their need for him to stay with her forever, they didn’t kiss and he simply gave her a hug.

Oh, it's platonic? I never minded if there's no romance. I was watching Dr Qin S1 in my gym session today. I love that the dynamics among the threesome in there. We don't need romance or full blown romance every single drama.

@outofthisworld Glad to know you had a nice break.

I'd recommend A Moment at 18.

I like Hotel (de la) Luna because with the help of others I'm getting more out of the show than a mere 'normal' watch elicits. It's very rich, with lots of connections and clues to garnering more info on the characters, but needs one to have a watchful eye and a great memory to piece parts together. However, just a normal watch is fun too.

Yeo Jin Gu is better here than he was as a robot. I'll let the experts discuss if experience is all that essential ... maybe in the area of portraying emotions in a heartfelt way, it might be?

Thanks for affirming A Moment at 18.

I was totally burnt by MAB. I thought it would be better to avoid HDL or just try one ep because I really didn't want my opinion of Jin Goo to slide further.

I'm no expert either but I observed that some actors tend to go into this "portray the emotion" mode as you aptly called it. They shouldn't think too much of how they should portray the emotion and just be the character and react as the character would.

I actually feel that Jingoo is growing better at interpreting his characters. I remember the horribly forced romance in Reunited Worlds and the the sweet but weird robo-love in Absolute Boyfriend. His romance scenes were so disconnected to the plot. I hated it. Then in Crowned Clown, as much as I hated the writer for killing my true king, he the clown was very convincingly in love.

When I watched the bts and IU asked him to cry with her, he insisted no. I’m like... my boy finally learns that tears aren’t the only way to portray sadness.

They are both on my must watch list. I go back to work on monday (love my job, but you know its nice to be home) so dread it but these shows are on monday so excited, lol.

Moment at 18 has some beautiful acting and realistic characters. Some you will want to hug close, others you may despise, and some that you maybe hope will be saved. The first quarter is tough , but some wonderful splashes of heart and humor and then the emotional weight of the show doesn't dim, but becomes more balanced.

I Wanna Hear Your Song: You have to at least try it. Go in with no expectations. We seem to be a bit divided on whether the 2 male leads are more creepy or more compelling. I know nothing about classical music but it is gorgeous in this and watching that one actor conduct is a joy. Plus, the Beanie discussion is really fun so far.

Hi Everyone and Happy OT!
To Beanies of India, Happy Belated Independence Day!

I've been generally happy and somewhat healthy except that I am tired at the end of the day, and it's because walking is painful (heel spurs) until I get the right shoes. It disappeared for a few years, but lately for reasons unknown, the pain has returned, but only in 1 foot (I thank God for that blessing!)

I used to be able to walk around barefoot or with thick socks on, but I don't think I can anymore. On the bright side, I can now say to my husband, "No dear, you go ahead without me, I'll sit and rest my foot." And then get to watch a bit more of my dramas!!! Heheheh!

On to some shows … well I'd like to continue with most of the shows I started and add on a couple more as well, but with a new work project and 2 new volunteer projects, I really cannot split my brain and time. *Much sighing*

Hotel (de la) Luna - The anticipation is building. If we get 2 characters reborn who belonged to the past life of the Lead, does that mean we get the 3rd and likely most hated character anytime soon? Or has show trolled us completely and had that hated character come and gone without any fanfare or notice from us? Or worse, will show never have him traipse across our screens in the present time at all? (I can hear the protests already) In the meantime ML may end up in danger as well and not be on hand to stop FL from being a danger to herself!!! Nail biting wait ahead! (24 hours before episode airs and counting)

A Moment at Eighteen - This is really a great show, so true to youth, so full of feels and bringing back those bitter-sweet memories. Character growth is wonderfully evident. I finish episodes with a satisfied sigh for the nice kids and with worry for the kids with lousy parents. And I care enough to want to know how they'll turn out. That's more than good enough for a youth drama!

Doctor John - I am surprised that I find this show pretty compelling. Definitely with much thanks to @michykdrama for her great Medicaps as well!! I guess there's enough of a human element to get me invested in the main characters, and even some side ones, and there are interesting diseases to diagnose and find cures for. The rest of the show pretty much continues with the usual tropes, which is not a bad thing, because I know what to avoid and what to pay attention to. I have to admit that watching Ji Sung makes me slightly envious of his wife LOL. It's lovely watching him move. And I'm not a particularly mad fan girl of any actor actually. 😂

Ji Sung has that compelling aura around him. I can’t exactly say what. The way he talks, moves everything has a seductive quality? Is that the feel.
Anyway. Am enjoying the show even though it feels way over dramatic. And @michykdrama made me realize the medical stuff was pretty well researched and reasonable accurate. So am trusting the show better now.

Dearest Beanies,

I am having a not so great week. 🤪
Some may know but I’m going for major surgery at the end of next month but the journey to get there has been less than smooth sailing.

Turns out my case is not simple (the kind that gets presented to the whole department for discussion!) and I’ve been repeatedly seeing 2 different doctors for second opinions.

Basically I can’t get everything I want, I have to be resigned to be stiff and potentially have shoulder imbalance, or more flexible but have 20% chance of worsening in the future.
And it’s a 12 hour operation either way. 🤪🤪🤪

I’m scared sh*tless.

You know those cases in the medical Kdrama that everyone oohs and ahhs about and the geniiius surgeon comes and saves the day?

I’m that patient. But I don’t know if I can find a Yo Han to give me anesthesia (Doctor John) and a Teacher Kim (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim) to operate on me. 😂

So. No bandwidth or anything else other than turning up for work, going to see the doctors and preparing meals for my Boy.
Who I’m trying to spend more time with.

And I’m trying not to be morbid but I’m writing a will, doing an AMD and writing letters to people to be read if I die 😅 Morbid I know. But I can’t help it. And while I’ve never been depressed much before, this is pretty much there I think because I’m not quite ready to die just yet. Because I think my Boy will be quite sad. And I don’t want to make him sad. And I think I’m crazy for thinking that way but I can’t help it.

I don’t know when I’ll have the bandwidth to do the Medicaps till I settle the final date and type of surgery I’m having, but I will once things settle down. It’s a great distraction and you all have been nothing less than lovely and supportive.

And on the upside I have 2 months of medical leave after the surgery so... think about how many dramas I can watch during that time! Hahaha. Silver linings always.

Have a great weekend everyone! And thank you for letting me unload here. ❤️

@michykdrama,
So sorry to hear of your need for surgery, but glad that there is something that can be done for the condition. I don't blame you one bit for being scared out of your gourd at the prospect of 12-hour surgery.

As for making out your will, writing letters, and arranging an Advanced Medical Directive, I don't think you're being morbid -- you're being responsible. And of course you are concerned about Ryan. That's normal.

I wish I could give you a hug. A virtual one will have to suffice, along with prayers for peace of mind and heart for you and Mr. Michykdrama and The Boy. If it's possible, try to have some fun with them, even if it's just going out for a walk in nature. ;-)

Glad you could do some unloading here! It's really hard to prepare for major surgery, I got hyper-organized and didn't think about much else in the weeks ahead of my recent knee replacement. It was exhausting. I think it's commendable that you're writing letters for people, at the same time I worry that doing so is making you more depressed. You may want to send the letters to your dear ones after the surgery anyway. I'm glad you are busy and have your job and family to occupy your thoughts. It's going to be fine, the surgical team will knock themselves out for you and when it's done, you will be SO glad. And less than thrilled with the nitty-gritty of your PT 😮
I hope you can stay positive as much as possible! I'll wish for you to have great after care and cute, funny PTs with dimples!
