Kim Hye-yoon rebels against her storyline in Extraordinary You

Coming-of-age teen drama Extraordinary You (originally known as A Day Found by Chance) has released a hilarious new teaser. Kim Hye-yoon (SKY Castle) plays the protagonist, an ordinary high school student until incredible things start happening to her as we see in the teaser. She suddenly has gaps in her memory, sees things that shouldn’t exist in reality including her own future, and her own personality changes in unexpected ways.
It all begins making sense when she receives the hard-to-believe explanation that she’s in a comic book. But what comic book is complete without the requisite group of pretty flower boys? So we have Lee Jae-wook (Search: WWW) playing her fiance, Kim Ro-woon playing a mystery influence on Kim Hye-yoon, and Jung Gun-joo (Drama Special: The Tuna and the Dolphin), Kim Young-dae (Item) and Lee Tae-ri (Search: WWW) making up the rest of the A4 gang.
After she finds out that she’s not even the main character of the comic book, she decides to rebel against the story line that was written out for her. In the teaser, we have flashes of Kim Hye-yoon’s character, Eun Dan-ho, putting her head on a fellow classmate’s shoulder as a voiceover says: “For me, it’s the first time I’ve met a girl like this.”
Various other scenes of school drama unfold including one where she looks like she’s given up on a track field, but then is back again cleaning her classroom with friends. She asks what someone would do if he could see the future, and the boy replies that what can be seen may not be everything in the big picture. This is followed by scenes of conflict like fighting and doctor’s office visits. But the teaser ends on a positive note because with the last statement of the teaser, she says: “I’m me, Eun Dan-ho. I am real.”
MBC Wednesday-Thursday miniseries Extraordinary You, co-written by Song Ha-young and In Ji-hye and directed by Kim Sang-hyub, will begin airing on October 2.

I think when my annual renewal comes around I'm going to drop Viki and get Kocowa ... probably. The subtitles situation has been really bad for months now. At one point my show was 2 full weeks behind in subs.

@alessar wish I could do the same. Viki has good C-Dramas too and they’re the only one next to YouTube that picks up good ones. When K-Dramas fail me, I watch C-Dramas. Netflix licensed a whole bunch of C-Dramas but like they’re super makjang. I ended up watching them now my life is so depressing and my emotions are effed up. I wish Netflix has a good eye for C- Dramas 😞

VIU also does a good job releasing subtitles in the same day yet again I always DL my dramas(in on going episodes) and subtiles so till now i always watched most of the kdramas in the same day,at most the next one if the drama wasn't that much of a buzz and the srt was released a bit later

I have Viki plus but still don't get all Kocowa content. Am not willing to spend any more than this now.

@miky88 Viu isn’t available in North America 😨 I wish they would expand their region. I know they have a fast turnaround as well.
@mayhemf yeah Blue, same. With Viki plus we get Kocowa videos but not its subs. Viki does them still. So I still have to get a Kocowa subscription to watch a drama on the same day. I cancel my subs if I’m not watching any Kocowa dramas or if I could wait for Viki subs.

Hotpot TV which was launched last March. I believe I read that it was started by former DramaFever employees. Its webpage has a DF look to it. Info here:

Okay I gave in to the temptation and started reading the webtoon. It is sooo much fun!! Our leads are basically the extras in the webtoon. Not even supporting characters but extras! Lol Hye Yoon’s character likes her fiancé, one of the A4 boys, and Ro Woon’s character has a much smaller role in the webtoon that he doesn’t even have a name *sad*
When Hye Yoon’s character becomes aware of her situation - that she basically is a character in a webtoon world and plays the role of however her authors want her to do. She then wants to live a life of her own and starts deviating from her original purpose. Since she is in the world of a romance webtoon, she’s decided that her first goal is to find that person she truly likes (instead of what her authors dictate her which is her fiancé) and she’s found that person in another extra character who doesn’t even have a name. It is very hard to meet her first love because they do not have a lot of scenes together, so when she is not needed in a scene, she runs around school trying to find him.
What I find mostly intriguing are the heads and tails scenes. “Heads” are the events being played out in the webtoon that are created by the webtoon authors. “Tails” are the events these webtoon characters, who are aware that they are indeed characters in the webtoon world, create that are not known by the authors. Kim Hye Yoon’s character forces herself to create tails scenes to meet up with her first love. Her first love will not remember their meet ups because it was not part of the plan (“heads”), but he eventually becomes aware of his own existence, remembers Hye Yoon and goes extra miles too to meet her. They’re cute.

LOL yes and how she’s always at the hospital in the later part of Season 2 and hated every moment of it. I cracked up so much when she gushed over Haru - “my hot pink 😍”
Also I got emotionally invested in the main OTP line too! Nam Joo’s secret 😵 and how Ju Da genuinely helps him out. I feel bad for my boy Do Hwa, but I ship Ju Da and Nam Joo. Damn creators!
Haru’s situation breaks my heart the most. Especially that scene when he’s stuck in the classroom because he’s finally got a line... and it wasn’t a good line 💔

I’m not sure how this is gonna play out in the drama, but Ro Woon’s character did not appear until a few chapters later in the webtoon. He doesn’t have a lot of scenes because he’s a nobody, a nameless character that’s just drawn by the author to make up for the number of students in class.
Lee Jae Wook’s character is more fleshed out. We know about his dysfunctional family background, he’s a tsundere boy - he’s in that zone of “I care or I really don’t care about my fiancée”. I think this will be a good role for Lee Jae Wook; it’d be interesting to see him be conflicted with what is real or not once he figured out that he’s a character in a webtoon who follows a script and freedom isn’t an option.

I felt the most sad about Haru as he is indeed nameless,how horrible and scary must have been for the poor boy to realize he is just there without name,no one really knowing him not even himself,no family,home etc. just waking up in class over and over again...At least the others resemble more like normal people...

The way they call the boys A3/A4 reminds me of paper size. You guys are getting printed on. HAHAHAHAHA. I don't even remember the boys being called that on the OG webtoon.
Anyway, this looks like a fun take to July Found By Chance (original title of the webtoon) and the teasers are fun so far but be reminded that you need a box of tissues with this show. Hehe

Not yet sure but the webtoon is shaping up to be sad. There's a high possibility that this drama will branch out in the middle but seeing scenes with Danoh wearing hospital gown and some familiar scenes indicates that tissue is needed for this show.
Also, Danoh is going to have some amazing friendships with Dohwa and Joodah so don't you worry. Her comraderie with Dohwa is cute.

I’m caught up with the English translated chapters. I can’t really see a HEA for this. I have to remember their lives are controlled by their creators and there is only so much they can do for their freedom. I feel bad for Haru the most. There’s only school for him and he can only wait until Dan Oh returns. It’s scary to think what if she never returns *knocks on wood* That scene where Dan Oh tells him they’re going to the sea and turns out it’s the sea from a page of a picture book hurts. 💔

What's really scary is that Haru might know what will happen in the mountain trip (you know he ripped that trip poster on the bulletin board) and then the translated chapters kind of ended there and I don't understand what is happening in the latest chapters in Daum...
As far as my knowledge in Hangul goes, all I know is that what's about to happen is sad and involves some blood...

I think Haru has finally got a name that’s why he’s not responding when Dan Oh calls out to him. I’m dreading what’s happening in vol 5.... I got goosebumps when Haru told Bae Kyung that he cried 😰 and Bae Kyung’s inner thoughts on people he cared for leaving him and it’s gonna happen again 😢😢
