Happy Valentine’s day beanies!

I am planning a 2 week vacation to the Greek islands in May. Hubby is concerned there’s not much to see except beaches in the Greek islands. Has anyone been and do you have any advice?

I know Santorini is beautiful, so we’re definitely going there for 2 to 3 days, but what other islands are worth checking out and how long should we stay in each? I’m hoping there are more than just beaches to see.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

if you’re into archaeology at all you’ll have no trouble filling the time....I spent six weeks all around Greece (for study, mostly on the mainland) and it was amazing.

Crete as someone else has said is lovely (and has sites going back to Bronze Age if that’s your thing).

Interesting February.
That trump tweet after winning the already won battle was cringe and hilarious. You do need something light in present world to remain upbeat. What trump has done is beat the status quo and openly flaunt the fixed matches of both parties. In the end all of these politicians from both spectrum are just one big team. Milk the system as much. hehe at taking sides when you are always walking on wrong path. You can see trump the fool revealing tricks of his own team and reality of efficiency of institutions.

Forest fires are necessary part of whole ecosystem. And this political fire is needed for the cleaning the political system.
Trump for the 2nd term unless someone can outdo him.
Be happy Xi like personality isn't president of USA. Trump walked the open door and no new president will let go of that opportunity. They gonna flex their authority and that's how you become farcical democracies

duterte vs. trump - noise pollution.

What if today was 2015 and everything around was more at quiet?
Xi must be thanking all the fictional gods now for the state of world right now. That's the problem with authoritative rule - no credible information ever comes out and no way to deal with corruption at lower level. Xi is learning it.

This question always confused me and i get irritated over this confusion

Romantic drama - any demography( a bit more visible in asian dramas)

ANY - Hero/Heroine - wishful thinking - having kids
SPECIFIC - side character fiance - i don't want genes of a daughter of a bad person (this one look too asian)(tomorrow's post)

Why do you want to procreate? Why always have talk about having kids? You want to protect you clan? keep alive your family tree? forwards your genes? Why not talk about adopting kids?
Does having your own blood make you a parent? this gives you this gives you true sense/feeling of being a parent?
Those who adopt kids are not parent?

You want kids - There are millions of kids seeking family of love.
Its win-win situation for both. Why not adopt?

We are all human persons, with a natural drive to procreate. And when you love your spouse or partner, you naturally want to grow your family with children. For most couples it's a common sense decision to have bioligical children, wherein you control the number, frequency, and almost every other aspect of the development of your family. When you chose to adopt, it's a long, difficult, costly process that is mostly out-of-your-hands, until the child is placed with you. Others decide and control the whole process. My husband and I have 2 wonderful kids we adopted from Korea. We are blessed to have them in our lives, just as all parents are blessed with their children, biological or adopted.

@becky you said it well.
When I was first married I thought I was supposed to get pregnant and have babies. But we couldn't and we too ended up with two babies from S Korea (who are now both adults). I had NO idea what being a parent meant until I fell in love with my first son - and I mean a different kind of love from anyone else.
People used to stop us and say how wonderful we were to 'rescue' those babies from another country.
I always said they rescued me from myself and made me grow up.

couples like you and your partner are a blessing for babies that need homes! my sister adopted from south korea also in the early 90s -- this niece is a blessing for our family. and as it turned out, our daughter did the DNA testing and it stated she is 2.3% korean (the rest japanese).... interesting...
; )

1

@spazmo interesting you should say that. I don't remember when, but at one point we did wonder if there was some Japanese in my oldest son's bloodline. I don't remember where that idea came from, but I still wonder....
to this day - in the 80's that is where it was easiest to get an infant. I thought if we adopted I wanted to start with an infant if possible. There weren't many infants in the US at that time.
But anyway - he changed my life in so many ways....

procreation is every species natural right. That's mother earth's engineering for you.
>> wherein you control
have ur own blood to have control over various other things doesn't look like a common sense. I find it just an excuse. Why not go ahead and just confidently say you want to carry forward your clan?
>>Regarding adoption - i agree with you there. But Laws and regulations are for the protection of kids and more for foreigners.
I'm thoroughly at odds with everyone who puts control mechanism as a fact for selection among two.

That supposed "natural drive to procreate" is falling apart all over the world, especially in Japan, Korean, Taiwan, and the big one - China. At the present rate Japan will have 40 million less people by 2055, and China will have 300 million less. If interested in some deeper insight, see https://youtu.be/qaGfP5sk7z8

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly, spazmo. But this started back when Nixon was President, then Carter's reelection was manipulated by Reagan. But the real beginning of the end was in 2000 when the Supreme Court elected Bush II. Now the Republicans don't even want people to have the right to vote. We should be out in the streets like Hong Kong. I must say I admire the South Koreans immensely, they know how to Impeach and Remove their President.

I don't think any country is doing well under any system. But still there are countries that don't do anything at all for their citizens, so there is a something is better than nothing line there.

Not specifically talking about America but the whole world generally and I think the countries that are doing slightly better might be the Nordics.

On the list of happiest countries in the world, the Nordic nations rank high. The U.S. keeps dropping. The country I'd love to emigrate to, Canada, isn't that bad either. If I were younger I'd leave the U.S. in a heartbeat.

Happy Valentine’s Day and a happy weekend to all my lovely Beanies! ❤️
There is a Valentine’s Card for you all on my fan wall that accompanies my Love, February post. I rediscovered my inner poet this week, which made me enjoy writing and our beanie community a lot more.

This year Valentine’s Day went from uneventful to heartwarming in the blink of an eye. My god siblings (and my sister) unexpectedly gave us a heart shaped box with chocolates (dad) and some bottles of our favorite beer (mom) to celebrate Valentine’s Day and to thank us for the good caregiving despite our bad health during the past few weeks. As a lover of Disney and mugs I am now the proud owner of a Frozen mug with Elsa, Anna and Olaf on it! I’ll give it until next Wednesday, before my goddaughter claims it as her own! 😄

A few hours later I received a text from my friend to wish me a Happy Valentine’s Day with an invite to celebrate together with an extra Coffee Prince episode! How did I not think of this brilliant idea sooner? 😊

This week was uneventful and I could not be happier. I really needed a break. My parents are not fully healed yet, but they are able to resume their responsibilities at a slower pace with lots of rest. The godsiblings were also here for two days, but they are healthy and in good spirits, which makes caring for them a lot easier. It helps a lot that I am getting more or less used to the unexpected chaos in our household.

So I am proud to report that I spend a boring week preparing and submitting a few interesting job applications, studying my Korean lesson and spouting poetry on the fan wall, with some Dramabeans recaps and No Second Chances episodes in between. It was nice to have all that free time back and actually use some of it to apply for jobs. Some employers even confirmed receiving my application!

If the weekdays are busy, the weekends totally make up for it. Relaxing Coffee Prince episodes on Saturday and Sunday evening with my friend and our Korean language study sessions and chats together on Sunday afternoon. My friend might not make it this weekend, but in that case I would not say no to camping out in my room with books, K-dramas and movies!

I have two issues this morning, Beanies
Issue 1
When I talk about my mom theres a certain pattern of language that I fall in to. I always say, "it was like her body was waiting for a diagnosis for permission to start falling apart".
I don't have any new diagnoses to report but its like ever since I had that really big panic attack a few weeks ago I feel like Im having a low key panic attack ALL THE TIME. My heart is beating so fast, I can't breathe, my anxiety is through the roof. Its getting so bad that I hate waking up and getting out of bed because I know when I leave my house its going to be worse. And its making me late. Ive been late to work SO MANY TIMES since I had that first bad panic attack. I think being late is one of my triggers now, but I cant get out of bed to leave earlier so I'm running late because my anxiety is absolutely out of control.
Issue 2
For the last maybe 2.5 years I've had this...post nasal drip, is what the internet says. Theres a steady stream of something going down the back of my throat. And I'm constantly snort, snort, SNORTING. Dozens of times an hour. Sometimes it leads to coughing jags and I hack up grossness. Its annoying and sometimes painful and terrible for the people that I work with. I've gone to urgent care and they tell me to take mucinex and neti pot and allergy meds. I've done the Mucinex and the Allergy meds but not the neti pot (its expensive). I was supposed to go to the doctors office this morning and meet with a doctor and --of course--my anxiety couldn't get me out the door. The last time I went to a doctor (the last two times, actually) for a physical they wanted me to come back and get checked out for two different kinds of Cancer. Call me a coward but I don't want to go and get told that again living by myself in a new city. So I called to reschedule and was told that since I didn't give them a 24 hour notice (which IS standard practice but isn't written anywhere in the confirmation email that they sent me) that I can't reschedule, or have an appointment with ANY of their doctors EVER. Which seems extreme, but also like those doctors are jerks.
Im still snorting every 3 seconds. I still have a sore throat thats hurt since the middle of December. Maybe I'll go to another UC today.
Any advice?

What type of allergy meds did you take ? Try a nasal spray. And if you notice that you have seasonal allergies, start the nasal spray before the season if you can.

Use the Neilmed nasal bottle instead of a Neti pot (here's my girl, CC, showing you how: https://youtu.be/OW7-psFueNw). It's usually 5-7.00 over the counter, and you can make your own saline rinse with distilled water, sea salt 1/4 tsp and a pinch of baking soda. Use it EVERY night. Then use a non-scented nasal spray (flonase/fluticasone has a perfume which can make you worse if you are sensitive to perfumes like me!) Budesonide/Rhinocort or Nasacort or Flonase Sensimist all do not have perfumes. Use this after your nasal rinse every day. Typically, at night. Stay on an antihistmaine (cetirizine or fexofenadine daily). This is my 1st line treatment for both allergic and non-allergic rhinitis--use for 3 months or more if you need it-- you can do it daily. If you need more than this, then I would recommend you see an allergist and get allergy testing done to see if you might need to be on (gasp!) allergy shots to decrease your sensitivity to what you might be allergic to.

Why sea salt? *imagines the minerals and sand that are in mine*

1

@ndlessjoie It dissolves well and there's no iodine in it like we have here in the states (iodized salt stings more). You can also do Kosher salt.

4

Honestly, Ally, at this point I just want to send you my insurance card and copay! I'll do it. Health for Valentine's day!

5

*copy and pastes this information

3

I agree with Ally, the Neilmed nasal bottle and the packets that come with it really help--however, you can start to get really dried out nasal passages. I had allergy tests to see what I'm allergic to, and had shots to desensitize me. Some people also produce more mucus when they eat/drink dairy. Keep two sets of pillows and rotate them--keeping the set you're not currently using, in a freezer for at least a week to kill dust mites. The winter time is when our house's dust and dander can be high, along with mold.

2

@kdnomore has great advice too! You can also put your pillow through a dryer weakly on high heat and wash your herd ding weekly to kill dust mites-but that would involve isa having to go to the dreaded laundromat. Allergy covers on the mattress and pillow are also researched to decreased allergy symptoms die to dust mites. And yes, you can take “drug holidays” if you feel like you’re getting too dried out. And spray the OTC nasal spray away from the nasal septum to prevent nose bleeds.

2

Using my googling skills I would guess that you might have chronic non-allergic rhinitis. Drugs generally don't help a lot, if at all, and I read the best advice for self care is rinsing your nose with saline. You might try boiling a litre of water with two teaspoons of salt and let it cool completely before slowly drawing it into the nose.

@isthatacorner—I'm so sorry to hear about your panic attacks. As a woman of color, I am particularly concerned for the health of my black sisters. It's my fervent hope that you have an advocate who can give you the support you need to make these critical doctor appointments. Being a black woman in the USA already puts us at a health disadvantage, regardless of education and class.

Did you read this extraordinary April 11, 2018 New York Times Magazine article "Why America's Black Mothers and Babies are in a Life-or-Death-Crisis?". It's a compelling read because it highlights general issues applicable to black women's health—not just pregnancy.

Being black-balled by your clinic for a late cancellation seems unduly harsh and puts you at risk. Does this clinic have a hospitalist or ombudsman that can help you cut through the bureaucratic bullshit? If not, I hope there are other clinics you can go to.

I hope you're able to find people to help you advocate for yourself. As terrible as your panic attacks are, it's critical to get your condition properly examined. 2.5 years of post-nasal drip is f*cked up. Your chronic inflammation indicates underlying issues! Even if it's "just allergies," it's better to know what you're dealing with. The thought of cancer screenings are overwhelming, for sure, but don't immediately think you hear zebras when it might just be horses. Don't be content just to treat the symptoms with over-the-counter meds without investigating thoroughly with a GP, allergist, nutritionist. As you rebuild your health, don't underestimate the importance of a healthy nasal and gut microbiome either.

Continue to treat yourself with love and get help advocating for yourself. Fighting!

Note:
I enthusiastically second Dr. @ally-le's recommendations. I found Netipots to be horrific. It's like waterboarding yourself. The NeilMed Sinus Rinse system is superb and easy to use. As she said, be sure to ALWAYS use distilled water; our sinuses can't handle the organisms in regular tap water our stomachs can.

I'm not a doctor like @ally-le. My mother was a Registered Nurse who taught me that communicating with my healthcare providers was a two-way street. It's important to advocate for yourself and your family.

I also speak as a parent raising a lovely boy with a learning disability and allergies. After four years of immunotherapy and enough sinus rinses to fill a swimming pool, our son is thriving. If we don't advocate for ourselves and loved ones, who else is gonna do it?

Happy Valentine's Day Beanies!

Crash Landing On You is ending this weekend and I'm not ready to say goodbye. I've really enjoyed this drama and I was fortunate enough to live-watch it with people who love it as much as I do.

Monday is a holiday so that should give me enough time to mourn and be relatively ok by the time I go back to school on Tuesday. I fear a slump is coming my way so I hope someone out there makes a drama good enough for me to sink my teeth into in the next month or so.

I worked really hard this week. Didn't watch a single show 5 days in a row. I've realised I've become an addict. Controlling was a real struggle. If only I had started this stringent control 2 weeks back I would have gotten a lot more work done. Now I have incomplete shows and theres a voice in my head saying "Complete them, catch up!!" They are not even the best shows or anything so why am I so hooked on them?
I think after working so much this week I deserve to complete Stove League! :P But everything else will have to wait till all my work is done. Let's see how long this resolve lasts! :P

Well it works sometimes for me anyway.

Hi Everyone and Happy Weekend!
I hope everyone's fine and healthy as we continue in the thick of COVID-19 news, concerns, little alarms and an undercurrent of tension. Yes, this has been my main focus and interest in the last 2 weeks, and shows, no matter how great, have not been able to supplant COVID-19-related news and messages.

The uncertainties with COVID: we think we know, but are not sure exactly in how many ways the virus can spread. And so, so much added (and seemingly unnecessary) caution is applied to everything and everywhere. Disinfection, temperature taking, cancellations of many events and (a lack of) masks everywhere. So much time and expense is spent on prevention, just in case, because we do not know for sure.

More uncertainties: we don't know how long the virus can live outside the body, or when a person is infectious and who may have it in our circles of contacts.

Other than that, it's been great working from home, eating at different places and taking walks out to try and get 3,000-10,000 steps done, to get Vitamin D and to keep the butt size from ballooning! (It's easy to just sit at home 'working' and not move for hours!)

As for shows, I'm happy with Crash Landing and the OTP. I like the he saves her, she saves him: he gives generously, she reciprocates... they even take turns to get shot to save the other 😆. I like that overall, she gets to be the same bad-ass lady she ever was, and yet is able to bend and warm up, to help herself and others, to change and grow.

I've somehow ended up watching the cdrama, Ever Night 2. There are things about the characters I just don't get as I did not watch season 1 or read the story, but there are other factors that keep me watching. Aside from times when parts slowed down inexplicably or where once again the FL is down and out being sick, there is enough change and nuance in all the many characters who have a part to play and a decision to make on who they will ultimately fight against and for what reason, to intrigue me.

I'd really like the unconcerned, ever hungry Sage to hurry and step up to do something, since he is super powerful and people seem to look up to him and count on his decisions. Why he keeps doing nothing much, when his disciples have done all they can, and need help, is a puzzle to me. The changing scenery and the various relationships plus the intrigue, make the show interesting, without being too confusing.

That's it for now. My thoughts and prayers for all who are battling the virus and supporting the medics and the sick. Fighting!

Crashlanding on you is arriving to my region's Netflix on February 23. Really, Netflix? Oh well... I'm on episode 12 now (don't ask me how, probably my laptop is home to millions of trojans and assorted viruses). Anyway, I must say that, while still enjoying CLOY, it kind of deflated for me when the action moved to South Korea, it feels like some of the quirkiness got lost. Fortunately, the second leads are still in the village and these days I find them more interesting than the OTP.

I just can’t understand Netflix. It happened the same with Life last year and it’s algo right now with Itaewon Class.

We get it week to week so, as usual, there's someone typing up rights in your region so Netflix can't release it until it's fully aired.

I don't understand it either. I too got CLOY weekly, but there was some other kdrama that became available like 3-4 days after it started everywhere else.

Itaewon I'm getting weekly though.

Where are you? Maybe there is a lot of competition for streaming rights in your country/region which is why the release may be delayed.

I guess that there's not enough viewers here that can make Netflix be arsed to pay for the rights of all the biggest airing shows... They did stream When the Camellia blooms, Rookie Historian and My Country while airing (with some weeks delay, though...)

I love noona(jiejie) romances. It's one of my catnips, despite the fact that only a few are my favorites or can even be considered good. But it's taken me a long time to figure out why I like them so much. Because when it comes to the real world I would never want to date someone younger then me (a couple years younger could be ok, but not more than that). But I've come to the realization that the reason why I love them so much is because it's intimately tied in with my other favorite trope and probably my biggest catnip, which is the guy falling first and pursuing the FL. 95% of all noona romances have this trope and I think I started associating guy pursuing girl as just noona romance. So now I realize that it's not the noona romance that is my catnip, it's the guy pursuing the girl that is my catnip. It's only taken me 10 years to come to this realization.

But on that note, I'm loving the jiejie drama Find Yourself. He Fanxing is an intelligent, successful and dedicated boss, but she is cute and weird in the outside world and completely ignorant on how to date. I think I like her because she reminds me a lot of myself. But the poor fox cub, Yuan Song, has a long and hard journey ahead of him in dating this naive woman. I am 100% on the fox cub ship. He is such a rascal and confident but also vulnerable. He is willing to do whatever she asks of him if it means he will ultimately end up with her. His character is sexy and swoony.

Most of the characters so far are interesting and quirky. I love her twin (the talented Zhang Yujian) and so far the old fox, Ye Luming, is weird and interesting. But I really don't like Melon. Her voice is the most obnoxious and grating thing. It's hard to see her character when you have to listen to that voice. But overall I'm really enjoying this cute jiejie romance and really suggest it. Though I must say the first couple kisses were awkward in that typical cdrama fashion where the girl looks confused and forced into the kiss. Thankfully the few I've seen after have been much better.

Have a wonderful Valentines Day my lovely beanies! ❤️

Fight For My Way - Friends to lovers, but people who acknowledge they don't have to tick ✅ sexual intimacy just to transition to being partners

Just Between Lovers - the little things you do for love, but the kisses too.

Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim - a couple that are willing to learn from one another & won't let hierarchy come between them. They're also very confident in their partner that 3rd party feelings don't affect their relationship.

SWDBS - Waiting & willing to support your girl, a man not afraid of emasculation.

Come & Hug Me - Love conquers tragedy & social stigma

While You Were Sleeping - Love takes responsibility, it inspires courage & growth.

If We Were A Season - Love can take mature decisions. Even if the love isn't realized into a relationship, it's still love.

The 2nd couple in DOTS & Temperature of Love

As CLOY is ending this weekend, I want to note that the cast and crew went to great lengths to finish the series (wrapping up filming on Feb 13). I calculate the average time to film a single episode was 12 days, which is extremely long for an normal K-drama. It shows in how worn down the cast looked the past few weeks. Hopefully, we will get a fun finale.

Hello all:
How goes? My doggie died at the good old age of 14 and i was devastated. Am holding up now. I hate death so much. But he's free.

I had this dream about him on the 12th so i figured he wasn't long for this world.

It was a good death if one can call any death "good." Hubby and i had just taken our communion. We made a hamburger for doggie and i gave him a bit of chicken. Strange how the body can still have an appetite when the spirit is leaving. Then hubby helped him to walk back from the kitchen to the yoga mat he slept on. He sat down and was slumped over so i asked hubby to lift his head because it looked uncomfortable. He lifted his head. And placed him flat on the ground. Then there was an expiration of air or a sigh. Then another breath. And hubby and i looked at each other. That was that. I may be anthropomorphizing but when we would go for a walk he would stop and look at the kids in the school yard. I had a feeling he either wanted to play with them or he was taking in a long heartfelt wistful view of earth before he went to heaven. I always thought that. We cleaned up where he died, cause he had pooped as he died, and then hubby put him in a tablecloth and put him on the porch all night. I couldn't sleep of course. Worse than usual but i had two little dreamlets where i found i had made a mistake about him having died and discovered he was very much alive. All night i listened for his footsteps.

When my doggy whom i had as a teenager died, i wasn't in brooklyn. i was in college in another county and he was with my mother. We came back to the house and found him missing and mama said he ran away. But sometime after we returned, who came jumping onto our bed snuggling but his ghost? That was the last time we felt and saw him.

Hemo was a valiant brave little soul who always tried to seem strong. We called him a pitbull wannabee and all the vets who have ever met him said he was the sweetest dog they ever met. I suspect Gabe will breathe a lot easier because Gabe isw allergic to dogs and cats. Our first house had mold then we got a cat then doggie then the second house we had mice and doggie and this house we had only doggie. So Gabe will be breathing easily for the first time in his life.

Hubby took him to the vet and they gave us a choice of having his paw print on a plaque or his ashes in an urn. Hubby chose paw prints. Which is a good idea. I would've made the urn into a shrine and who knows what kind of spirits i would be attracting pretending they are doggie. Ever be careful of portals ya know. I do hate death with a passion, and sickness but now Hemo is free from all that pain. I'm sure if we ever need doggie protection God will send him down to chase away potential thieves. I made a little design to honor him which incorporates the footprints the vet gave us. The design represents all the times we walked. https://www.spoonflower...

Happy Val-(Gal)entines Day, Beanies! If you have a special someone, tell them how much you love them today! I'm late to the OT because I'm a single mom this weekend and had some extra things to do. Thank goodness for curbside pickup for everything!

Watching RTDK2 and CLOY right now. I like the first enough to keep watching, but not enough to watch it as the episodes come out--I'm one behind. CLOY has my heart, though, and I'm going to miss it when it's over. Did you know that one of the writers is an actual N. Korean defector? I saw on Twitter that someone was going to be interviewing him and was asking for questions to ask him via Twitter. I never thought of a good question, but I'm hopeful to read some of the answers he gave. I'm glad to see that there is some truth to what we see about N. Korea in this show.

Lastnight, I let my daughter sleep with me and the two puppies we have. Oh, my, that little black dog loves to snuggle under the blankets. Anyway, she was telling me about Candy-grams you could buy for friends and others at school.

Me: So do you have to give Valentines to your class this year?

Daughter: No, but you can buy Candigrams for your friends as a fundraiser. No one knew what it was until I told them.

Me: Are you going to buy any?

Daughter: NO!

Me: I remember in high school when all the cheerleaders would get flowers and candy all day long, like 6-7 of them and I was jealous of them. Then I realized they were all just buying them for each other!

Daughter: Aw, poor mommy.

Me: I wonder if you could buy them for your friends, you know, Math Genius and S.

Daughter: No! Mom!

Me: Or your brother. You should say "From a secret admirer!"

Daughter: Oh no, I would never do that to him. He'd end up belligerently asking everyone who gave it to him!

Me: HAHAHA! But it would be so funny! His reaction would totally be worth it! He'll think that that "annoying" cheerleader gave it to him.

Daughter: I'm not that mean, mom!

Moral of the Story: I'm not that mean either, but really, it would be something out of a scene from a Kdrama.

2nd Moral: Defect from N. Korea, write for an ultrapopular Kdrama.

3rd Moral: The sun is out (see my wall post) so I'm going to enjoy today and I hope you do too!

Every year when I was at school, my best friend would give me a Valentine's gift and send the serenading group (we have no real word for them here, it's not even a regular tradition) to sing to me during lunch.

After school ended I found out half the class thought we were a couple and I had no idea why. Looking back... I think I can see why.

Maybe Love(less) February has made me a bit nostalgic, maybe it's just made me maudlin. But of all the friends I've lost contact with, he's the one I miss the most.

Watching everyone get sung to in All The Boys I Loved Before 2 last night, it made me think of you. I still miss you in my life. I hope you're doing well.

Your post reminds me so much of my first childhood crush, the boy across the street. I've always wondered what happened to him, and a couple of weeks ago I got the chance to find out. I do a lot of genealogy research and am fairly good at finding people. While doing some research I randomly typed his name into a search engine, and was delighted to find pictures of him from his high school annual. So I kept on tracking him and found his older brother, and a phone number for him. I'm not one that fears calling someone out of the blue to ask them if they're the person I'm looking for. After an opening discussion of why I called him and establishing that he was in fact a member of the family that lived across the street from me when I was 10--I asked what happened to his brother. Sadly I found that my first love is in a nursing home suffering from Alzheimer's and has also had a stroke. Immediately all the wonderful memories I had of him vanished, but I'm working on getting them back.

I rage quit right before the last episode because the way it all went down in flames was just too infuriating. I was already frustrated with it by a bit past the midpoint - the ableism as you mentioned, but also just the inability to actually do or say anything with the actual story. Like, I try to remember what the show was about and I can only remember bionic arm, security couple, and a lot of stupid.

So. Much. Wasted. Potential.

2. The location (Incheon Airport) was unusual;
3. It did a public service on opening up a conversation about handicapped persons in society;
4. Paraphrasing a previous comment of mine, the drama moseyed along like it was a 20 episoder and the at around episode 14 realized, “nope, we have to wrap this thing up in 2 episodes” and it showed; and
5. Highlights included the performances given by Kim Kyung-nam and Lee Soo-kyung who worked together on the airport security team. They were lovely together.

Note: some discussion with spoilers for Little Women. I never read the book or watched the other versions, so my views is based on the 2019 movie only.

First let me start with my favourite quote from the movie:

'Just because my dreams are different than yours, it doesn't mean they're unimportant.' - Meg March

Personal review (number of watches: 1, where: cinema)
I watched Little Women today. It used lots of time jumps and flashbacks which made it confusing to me, who is not familiar with the source material. It gave me MoA flashbacks when I watched *shudders*.

Eventhough my eyes did brim with tears because of some sad moments, I was not able to fully connect with the characters. Maybe If I read the book before watching, it would be easier to understand the story.

I didn't know the characters were supposed to be young teens. How can I possibly think the characters were 12-16 when I know how old Soairse(25) and Emma(29) really are. I also thought Beth was the youngest, not Amy. When I read their ages, it unfortunately didn't make me view their actions from a children perspective and understand that they were kids at that point of time. Instead I got Heirs dejavu where the 25-ish yo cast played 18yo teens. Sigh.

I disliked Amy when she decided to burn all of Jo's notes, I didn't like Jo much either because of her hotheadedness at random situations. But I did want Jo to be super angry with Amy though. From my pov they were adults in that timeline when Amy burned all of Jo's notes/novels (repeat: I didn't know Amy was 12, Jo was 15). Amy was my least liked sister. I didn't warm up to her. After her burning act, she was not apologetic at all. She just 'whatevs' the situation. Her and Jo's reconcilation felt abrupt. There was no sadness in Amy for what she did to Jo. Only Jo felt sad for being a bit mad at her. Plus I didn't like it when mum says to Jo don't be mad at your sister. Jo can be mad all she wants, not only her novels were burnt, she didn't get to go to Europe even when she was offered first. Amy said she lives in Jo's shadow, but imo its actually the other way round, Jo's life circles around Amy. I'm glad Jo found her footing in writing. It was sad seeing her being lonely, at least she has her writing to soothe her sorrows.

I didn't understand the romance. The 2hour long movie did not sell the romance aspect to me. Also I didn't know how old the men were, just like I didn't know how old the ladies were. The jumping back and forth between timelines made it harder for me to gauge how many years have past, how long they've been away from each other, it made the distance feel short and emotions less touching/engaging. And imo the March family didn't look poor eventhough they say they were.

The ending was a mashup of fiction (the original book) and a tribute ending to the writer. When I watched I noticed that Jo said she didn't marry any of the characters. But the...

....publisher told her to make her character a married woman, so she did write that down. The lines between both endings were blurry, I read the explanation for the ending after I finished the movie.

All in all, I found Little Women confusing and the emotions were not heartfelt. I think it's mostly because of the non-linear storytelling. I do think it would be loved dearly by those familiar with the book and probably those who are fans of non-linear storytelling. Unfortunately the movie did not make me want to read the source material. But it did make me google some background for the story.

This review: https://www.jacksonville.com/entertainment/20191220/movie-review-little-women-features-big-confusion-in-scattered-script, mirrors my thoughts for the nonlinear storytelling and the acting.

I think watching the 1949 with Elizabeth Taylor movie and the 1994 Winona Ryder movie ( with the most spectacular soundtrack) is called for! The book is the best, though.
This new movie, well I liked it well enough and it did a decent job of telling the story not in cHronologucal order (a new twist), but a comparison of all things Little Women is called for to get the true, deep feel for the story. I also read a cool book titled “Marmee and Louisa”, by Eve LaPlante that was excellent. I’m such a Little Women fan that once I get going there’s no stopping me!
