I saw the show's character chart on JTBC's Instagram- there are many characters, including members of a book club. How interesting!

I'm bracing myself for this drama to be slow (read: boring).

It sounds more like a J drama than a K drama.

Where are the love triangles , the bitchy mother in law to be, the stalkerish chaebol heir from Seoul that tracks PMY down ?

J/k. Is PMY going to start playing Ahjumma roles ?

LOL I was laughing so hard at your ahjumma comment. I wish I could be this youthful and pretty in my ahjumma age :)))

Bitchy mother in law is more with K drama or C drama than J drama. Most J dramas do not even have parents involved.

I'm interested in this. I can see it being slow, but I don't mind slow if characters are developed, not only the leads but the various town characters.

Viki uses volunteers to do the subtitling. This means a delay of a few days. On the other hand, the subtitles are often better because those volunteers frequently understand the context and nuances of what they are translating.

Many of us do not have access to VIU, which is a shame.

Oh but that doesn't seem to be the case here. Viki will release the episode on 26th which means that they'll start subbing it on 26th. I used to think that maybe we'll get it full subbed if there is a delayed release but they have done this with another show too otherwise the raw would have been available on the site. So most probably there will be no subbed episode available by latest Thursday because they'll only release the raw on Wednesday. I think they don't have the primary lisence to it, which I guess viu does (hence the delayed release) and Viu should really expand their base, they end up having so many drmas but to so limited regions.

I agree that VIU should expand.

They rate of subtitling on Viki varies from show to show. It only seemed to take a day with HOTEL DEL LUNE but with STOVE LEAGUE it took as much as four. It is frustrating but ultimately a better product.

It's mostly about how many people gather for each show to do the segmenting and after the translating...Usually the hyped out show end up having been translated in a matter of hours...U are right about VIU,sadly it is very small if u stricly wanna watch online,if u watch downloded stuff it's easy as subtitles are easy to find...

I like both lead actors. The trailer has cozy, warm feels. I don’t mind slow drama. Since ML owns bookstore, I am hoping drama would be sprinkled with poetry and literature something like A poem a day.

As much as I would love another kick-ass KSJ drama (after WATCHER) I will still be watching BEAUTIFUL DAY. Park Min-young was a big part of my first kdrama so I am wishing her well. Speaking of my first kdrama maybe HEALER (Ji Chang-wook) can make a cameo and Jazz things up.

I remembered first seeing Seo Kang-joon as the 2nd male lead in Cunning Single Lady, his acting was so so and had zero chemistry with the female lead. It made me questioned the casting at that time. Plus the extra screen-time incident towards the end of the drama Cheese in the Trap, he left somewhat negative impression on me since then. Heard his acting improved significantly in Are You Human? though. May give this drama a try if I hear good reviews, since Park Min-young's charisma is always enjoyable to watch.

Seo Kang-joon was only 20 when Cunning Single Lady was on air and he did win Best New Actor award for his part in that drama. It's been a long time since I watched that but it seems I rather liked his character. I wanted the main leads to get back together on that one, so as second lead I didn't want Seo Kang-joon to have as much chemistry with her. It seemed his youthful passion for her was enough and fit the character. But, I could be remembering it all wrong. I think I need to watch that on again.

I haven’t watched cunning single lady and I know not everybody is a fan of SKJ, and that I have a thing for him...
I even liked him in Cheese in the trap and Entourage, and probably I’m a minority. His acting has grown and got much better. In Are you Human too I was surprised by how he played the double character and all the slights differences of the two characters he played. And in Watcher... wow... you should watch it!
(Yes, I’m a big fan!!)

We saw the first episode to night and it was slow but pretty good. Someone said it sounded more like a Jdrama than a Kdrama and in fact it does have some of that vibe to it.

If it's like slice-of-life Jdrama, I definitely am going to watch. I'm watching a crime thriller right now, so this will be a nice one to pick up.
