Drama viewership ratings for the week of Mar. 16-22, 2020
by SailorJumun
There were a lot of finales this week, so let’s get right to them. Up first, in the Monday-Tuesday slot, the thriller The Cursed finished its 12 episode run with a high of 6.7 percent. Then, midweek, the rom-com Forest finished its 16 episode run with 5.3 percent — not its best but definitely not its worst.
Once we got to the weekend, we had to say goodbye to Beautiful Love Wonderful Life after a whopping 100 episodes; the family drama hit 30 percent back in February and hit it many times again afterwards. Itaewon Class proved to be a popular drama as well, having been in double digits from its third week to its last.
Backtracking a bit, we also had a premiere to replace Wednesday-Thursday drama The Game: Towards Zero. Newcomer Find Me in Your Memory came in with 4.5 percent and stayed within 3 percent the next day. The numbers are still pretty low but normal for this particular timeslot. At least Hospital Playlist is getting some love.

Kim Dong-hee does not know failure. He went from the most-viewed web drama "A-TEEN" to the highest-rated cable drama "SKY Castle" to the second highest-rated JTBC drama "Itaewon Class." He is four for four.

He knows how to pick a drama. LOL.
Now if he improves his acting, he can do much better.

I am waiting for Kim Dong-hee to pull a Seo Kang-joon and Ahn Hyo-seop (Was Ahn Hyo-seop always a good actor?). It truly feels like vindication when the pretty boys learn how to act (Cheese in the Trap, Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 2).

Ahn Hyo Seop wasn't always a good actor, but it helps when veteran and more experience actor Han suk kyu helps out.
I remember stories of veteran & experienced actor tend to be harsh with their rookie actors & actresses' acting. Hell, I remember Song Kang Ho scolded Siwan alot about his out of place acting skills when they filmed the movie together.

Memorist is also based on webtoon, yet it doesn't do the numbers like Itaewon Class.
I’ll Find You on a Beautiful Day is still not doing good at JTBC. Yikes.
Find Me in Your Memory will probably do better in upcoming week against its competitions.

Also, A Piece of Your Mind for next week feels like I’ll Find You on a Beautiful Day. Both long and melodrama type.

I hope not. I'm looking forward to A Piece of Your Mind because I like the lead, but I didn't like the first episode of I'll Find You on a Beautiful Day (too slow for me).

How come I'll Find You on a Beautiful Day is not doing well locally? It can't be the lack of star power, right? The setting and cinematography is beautiful. Maybe the story is too slow-paced?

Looking at the ratings for their last dramas, the ratings are similar. For Park Min Young's last drama "Her Private Life", the lowest rated episode was 2.3% and the highest 3%. For Seo Kang Joon, I will exclude "Watcher" since that stars a more famous actor (Han Suk Kyu) and go back to the ratings for Seo's last top-billed drama "The Third Charm". Lowest rating: 1.795% and highest rating 3.3%. For When the Weather is Fine, lowest rating so far is 1.5% and highest rating so far is 2.5%. So if the rating increases to 3%, it will be on par with their previous dramas.

Interesting... a certain actor might make me tune in to a drama, but if I don't care for the story an actor isn't going to make me stay unless it is some sort of bravura performance. It just seems odd that an actor would get the same sort of ratings no matter what the quality of writing, directing, genre, etc...
