Hi beanies! Quarantine is extended, and it looks like it will be like this for a while. Hope everyone’s safe!

Who else was surprised with the appearance of javabeans and girlfriday on The Swoon youtube channel? (THEY HAVE REAL NAMES?????) I am seriously considering to watch The King: Eternal Monarch because of that video. And I am kinda hoping and wishing that they start a drunk kdrama podcast on Spotify. I’d tune in every week.

Anyway, the last episode I watched of I’ll Find You on a Beautiful Day was episode 4, and I haven’t watched since. I am also watching A Piece of Your Mind but I don’t feel the urge to watch the latest episode. I also haven’t checked out the latest two episodes of A Couple’s World, mainly because I don’t want to get stressed. I am watching Hospital Playlist and am loving it. I have Hyena (🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰) for binge-watching, and Prison Playbook in the background when doing chores for rewatch. Hi Bye, Mama! ended last week and I realized I have nothing to look forward to this weekend.

What currently airing dramas (or recently-ended ones) are you enjoying? What upcoming dramas are you eagerly waiting for? And which dramas do you think have high rewatch value? :)

That was my first reaction too, wow you guys have real names too. And even though they were born and bred in American, since they are Korean I just always imagined them having Korean names (which I think they might have too).

An old interview from 2014 called javabeans and girlfriday by their real names. It's a long but really good read.

https://charactermedia.com/dramabeans-duo-spills-the-beans-on-k-dramas/

But Sarah and Jen have a simpler explanation for the worldwide, meteoric rise of K-dramas. They believe it comes down to the fact that each series has a set number of episodes (usually between 16 and 24 for weekday prime-time miniseries), meaning there will always be a beginning, middle and end. “I think people want the answer to be Confucianism and family values, and we’re just like, ‘It’s format, buddy,’” Sarah says.

At first I thought it was an accident lol.
I miss the bloggers from those days.
I loved it when they would do guest reviews on each other's blog. MrX and Thundie were some of my favorites.

I came across the teaser for Mystic Pop-up Bar on the fanwall, and it looks interesting! The premise reminds me of Hotel Del Luna and Midnight Diner, but the tone seems more comedic. 20 May feels so far away.

Indeed it looks great, like the Bar inself is on another plane but because of some kind of accident it can be seen to the eyes of special humans( ex.Yuk Sung Jae) who mistakes it for a normal one and enters it without realizing he entered in a portal that took him in a dream made by another human...That's were he encounters our heroine who was busy granting that human his wish asking him amazed what he is doing in another person's dream...Looks like there they actually grant people wishes and now they are faced with doom as a greater superior Deity tells the 2 heroes and human helper that they will be greatly punished if they don't get to fulfill a x of wishes till the plane open between the two worlds closes as it could somehow be a mistake...
At least that's what i've got from the teaser jajja

I'm finally picking up 'A Piece of Your Mind' again after stalling out around episode 6. In the intervening time I watched the really excellent Jang Nara series 'VIP' from the end of last year. It would be a good series to watch along with 'A Couple's world' and 'My Wife Is Having an Affair This Week'.

Slightly concerned that my drama slump has been ended by The King: Eternal Monarch, but when you have three close friends and family members watching, you have no choice but admire Woo Do Hwan in a dual role.

Also, I always forget how tall Lee Min Ho is.

@hotcocoagirl Yes! Now that I mentioned YKS, I remember while watching Pinocchio I thought LJS is quite petite because of his scenes with YKS. Then I saw him in W and was quite confused that he had grown taller at his age! LOL
It wasn't until I was rewatching Faith in 2018 that I discovered how tall YKS is.

This week:
All of my friends at my old library system were presented with Furlough letters
My dad called and told me to tell everyone he loves them when he dies. He's fairly sure that he's going to survive corona now, but when it comes back in the Fall--he's going to die. Thanks for the warning, old man.
My library director announced yesterday that she's having an emergency meeting on Monday with the board. Everyone is now convinced that we're all getting Furloughed on Monday.
And I'm the only person who does not love A Piece of Your Mind. Thats fine. This cheese will stand alone. I love the quiet moments between CSB and JHI everyone else can go quietly jump in a lake. No splashing! And this is what I've chosen to fill my mind with because Im finding it impossible to work with a possible furlough hanging over my head. Again.
Also, JB has bias wrecked me. Ive had close calls but none close enough to officially call it.
I need more oranges.

I hope you're wrong about the furlough. Some governments are asking people to take unpaid days (once a month or several weeks a year) in order to not have to cut or furlough employees. As businesses lose money, so too do government agencies.

And you've just reminded me to add oranges to the grocery list! :)

Hi Everyone and Happy OT
This may be old news to many of you, but it was a happy discovery for me. JB and GF got onto Swoon on YouTube a couple of days ago and it was hilarious watching them, watching Lee Min Ho. It is great seeing them again (as Sarah and Jen) and listening to them talk about The King. Reminds me how much we miss them!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAKPrvxRk2g&t=107s

I've been trying to catch up with the last few episodes of I'll Find You on a Beautiful Day. It's such a very different kind of show, because for once it does not revolve around just one person or a couple of protagonists, it's not largely just about one main romance, and it does not sidetrack side characters. In the end we get a more in-depth view of the microcosm of a little village town, with its myriad inhabitants finding their ways to healing.

I like the vlog entry of Ep 14 - "There was a time when I thought life was the process of finding one’s place. A place where it’s okay for me to exist without bothering anyone or being bothered. Finding a place where no one would refuse me. That’s what I thought life was. But now, I’ve changed my mind. Wherever it may be, the place where I am right now is my place. As long as I live as my true self, I believe it will be okay for me to exist in this place..."

Hi @growingbeautifully. Your paragraph on WEATHER (for me) otherwise known as I’LL FIND YOU ON A BEAUTIFUL DAY is spot on. I will wrap it up by watching episodes 15 and 16 today.
I have felt almost from the beginning of the drama a connection between Seo Kang-joon’s portrayal of Eun-seob in WEATHER and his Joon-young in THE THIRD CHARM particularly the last half of TTC. He plays the quiet guy beautifully.
(Now I am hoping for his next project he leaves “nice” and gets “rough” again a la WATCHER. I recall in AYHT he also showed what being “nasty“ was all about, lol).
Finally o/t I will be scrolling through today’s comments for one positive BORN AGAIN comment. I really want to support a favorite, Jang Ki-yong and and a slot has opened for me now that WEATHER has completed its run.

Hi @marcusnyc20 Glad to read ya!
Yes, there's something about the way Seo Kang Joon portrays Eun Seob,... just calms me, and makes me feel it's all going to turn out fine, no need to fuss. Like in Ep 14, the way after he was woken up by Hae Won and then just went back to sleeping peacefully.

Although I like sci-fi and fantasy and time travel stories, Born Again gives me pause. I'll have to watch not only Jang Ki Young, but bear with Jin Se Yeon who gives me negative vibes. Also, watching it means having to juggle more than one show with that premise.

For now, The King will be more than sufficient, not only for fantasy parallel universes but likely time travel and time-loops. I think I can take just 1 such show at any one and the same period of time. 😅 😂

Take care and stay safe!

Hi @Flightey Gazelles
Yes, it's been a while. I've been watching very few shows, and maybe it's a good thing, but I've not been missing them much. That means, to me, that RL is full and fulfilling, (I hope). Also it means I'm slowing down somewhat, and so am more busy trying to keep up with other things.

I like the vlog entry that I quoted... it shows a growth from being someone kinda self-centred and entitled ... as if he just had to find his comfy spot and stay put without caring about anyone else... to realising that wherever we are can become our life and home, and it's up to us to both give and take and to make the world change a bit while we change ourselves to fit. However, that does not mean to compromise on what is right and true!!! Only that we need to see where we can give at any place instead of only what we can get from it. 😃

@growingbeautifully, really glad to hear that real life has been going great. I, on the other hand, have found myself escaping more and more into the world of books, movies and dramas. Not that anything particular bad has happened( aside from the unfortunate global pandemic we're all dealing with).

I'm going to find time to watch The Seo Kang Joon drama, it helps that it's Park Min Young. She really picks good to great dramas, I've reluctantly fallen for her( it started with Healer's Chae Young Shin). It sounds so introspective.

It's funny to watch Hospital Playlist because they are a lot of cameos. But today I had an illumination! At the beginning of the drama, I remembered Jung Moon Sung who plays Jun Wan's resident (cardiology), was the big brother of Jung Hae In in Prison Playbook but he was Jung Kyoung-Ho's subordinate in Heartless City too! They already acted together . Choi Moo-Sung playing the husband of IJ's patient in the last episode was in the Prison Playbook and Heartless City :D

I'm always up for time travel/alternate universe type stories where there are massive cultural clashes, bewilderment, and miscommunication. Having been raised in Japan by a half-Korean half-Japanese mother and American father and then returned to the US in adulthood, cultural clashes are the story of my life and I can relate deeply to such storylines. I'm not at all disturbed by the antics of a king finding himself in a democracy and behaving like he's got a screw loose. I'd give it a little more time to see how it turns out. If anything he's adjusting to things way better than someone would in real life.

What a great surprise it was to see javabeans and girlfriday this week! I hope we get to see them more frequently in the future!

This week:

I'll Find You on a Beautiful Day - Myeong-seo's pain is just so, so sad. I'm hopeful that as things ended, she'll finally be able to find some peace.

365: Repeat the Year - Exciting!

Welcome - Week in and week out, little kitty showing everyone how things are done.

A Couple's World - Like a bad accident, you just can't look away with this one!

Born Again - Gave it a try but couldn't finish the first episode unfortunately.

The King: Eternal Monarch - Had to try this one, because, well, you just have to! *laughing* A little confusing with the whole time switching situation in episode 1 ..... or maybe I was getting a little distracted with, you know, that guy from the royal security detail. Heh!

That's all for now. Everyone take care and have a good weekend.

Hi everybody! I'm happy to announce that lockdown in Spain is starting to easen up due to the hoped for flatenning of the curve. This means that after 7 weeks of strict lockdown, from monday on we can at least exercise outside, and the over 8 million children in the country will finally be allowed to go outside. We're quite excited just anticipating the runs and rollerblading outings for next week... Baby steps!

On the drama front, have the last 2 episodes of When the weather is fine on hold... I know what's going to happen and just don't feel like going through episode 15 to get to the happy ending. I'll get to it soon, though! A piece of your mind will finish next week too, I'll miss that pair of cute bunnies and their banbogi meetings...
But the drama wheel never stops, and I'm on board of The King and don't mind if it turns into a trainwreck, because that crack is just what my numbed brain needs right now!

Besides these dramas on air, I've been watching Memories of the Alhambra. Don't know why did it take me so long to start watching this, Netflix has been peddling it to me for months on end. The algorithm knows me better than myself, I'm loving it! Characters aren't great, but the plot is twisty and keeps me thinking of different explanations for what the hell is going on, well done!
Also, this week watched US series The Boys. It's wickedly fun: unvoluntary and very intended horrifying murders, strong european accents, ridiculous superhero uniforms, flying dolphins, weird sex and a very evil corporation...

Happy weekend Beanies! Keep Beaning On!

Sooo…life is getting back to normal here despite the lockdown. My niece is back in our care until the kindergarten reopens again, which keeps me busy from now on. From May onwards I might be able to go back to my temp job or start looking for a new one again, which would keep me even more occupied from that moment onwards. I have basically one week or so left to finish up stuff and to cut down on my watching time…

The perfect moment to start a new K-drama, is it not?😂

And I was doing so well Beanies!🤭 Watching two Sassy Go Go! episodes with my friend every weekend and only some movies on weekdays whenever I did have an extra hour or two to spare. There were certainly never enough hours to binge watch a K-drama before, but here I am, anticipating Choi Ma-Dol’s arrival for his epic love rivalry with Top Star Yoo Baek.😂 I still do not know what possessed me to press play last night and watch the first two episodes, but the damage is done and I am enjoying myself and despairing at the same time.😂

When this crazy situation began (I’m talking about quarantine), I didn’t have a proper place at home to work. I had to use the kitchen table as my desk and I had to eat seating in my coach because I didn’t have another table. Notice the “didn’t” because this lockdown has bought to this beanie’s house:
- a desk.
- an office chair.
- a paper bin.
- a footrest.
- a laptop stand.

Required fields are marked *

Well it's rare for me to say in the negative about an actor's skill. Regardless of what I think. Like even saying so and so person's acting isn't as good here is something I only did recently. Cause I wanted to say that not every comment is harsh. I don't get labeling every person as haters just cause they aren't all praise. I only really starting appreciate good acting since I joined DB. If someone says so and so is average in acting, I think maybe so but I don't dislike their acting so it personally doesn't matter to me. Extreme comments annoy me too but sometimes people take arguments over that too far.

Required fields are marked *

Oh I agree not every criticism are hate comments. And I personally have my own qualms on some aspects of the show. It’s the offensive comments that I can do without. Also I would understand people would watch the premiere episodes and maybe even up to the second week. And it won’t be to everyone’s liking. Which is fine. But I’m baffled when those who hate it would watch the entire drama hating it. For me, that just seems like a waste of my time watching a show that I hate. What would be the point of watching? I would drop shows on the first few minutes if I don’t find it enjoyable.

4

@mei123db Oh I don't get that either. I don't hate watch myself. That would be a real waste of my time is what I feel. Atleast never did that for kdramas.

3

Hoping it gets better but being disappointed it doesn't, does happen to me though. But hate watch no.

4

@amy1009 I’m trying not to expect anything from it, I expect to just have fun. It’s working so far. I don’t know if it’s just me, it seems like KES is intentionally poking fun with the way she wrote this drama. I mean, the similarity people say the ML character has to her previous work. I didn’t see that though I’ve seen some spoilers.

Thanks. You are right. Also there is this. If you watch only two episodes of a drama and complain some get angry and say how can you judge the actor/character/plot by just two episodes. Some will say why watch it at all. Someone one will say you have barely given the drama or actor a chance. You dont watch most of it and complain about some aspects there are even people who'd say you didn't watch the whole thing, you can't judge (yes I have seen some people say such things). You can't please everyone so do you just say nothing at all? No.

So I will just share what I personally do as I find the virtual to be very similar to the real world :)

If I am really passionate about something I speak and then even if people (friends or foes or nobodies) attack or disagree it is ok.

If I was impulsive and wrote something that people are reacting to... And I mind Their reactions then I just don’t speak up there. There are different spaces for venting So why stick to one?

Also, in the end it is just a drama. You haven’t written it but u just have an opinion and ... opinions are weird spaces. Art aesthetics have so much about it— is art about the creator, the audience or the medium.
I mean, I like a drama so I want other people to like it too but they may not. So it doesn’t mean I am right or wrong or they are right or wrong Because there are no absolutes.

I have a friend who has a ten minute film rule. If a film captivated him within 10 minutes he sits through it else he is the most distracting element and the worst person to watch the film with. He might miss out on great art which takes time to build but he has made peace with it— there is enough in the art world to please everyone. Gut feelings should be trusted :)

I don’t know if any of this speaks to you but at least in that specific comment section, I think, people want the drama to be a hit because they are really possessive about one factor. People could watch something for that one factor and it might be a hit while others might skip the same because of whatever reasons. Don’t take it to heart. (I hope I didn’t sound too preachy or weird!)

No you don't. I totally understand. I didn't have have just a single actor or anything as reason for watching just the fact that I like most Fantasy dramas. I actually even liked 'The the bride of Habaek' which a lot didn't like.
Also that's why I like the four episode rule a lot of people use even though I don't really use it myself. I don't exactly have a set rule. If it gets too much whenever that might be that's when I would stop watching, despite my insistence on finishing dramas once I started them.

1

Awesome, so u see you know what your boundaries are. Don’t be bothered by others, write what u need to :) freedom of speech. We could get into law and liberty here >haha... I was thinking of JS Mill<

I don’t follow any rule either. After all this is supposed to be an escape from life, no?

The World of the Married (Couples) - Some shows are just too addicting, this is one of them. Note that all future episodes are being rated as MA19.

My still current hate watch - Fatal Promise - Never have so many stupid people been inserted into one horribly written drama populated by actors that cannot act (or choose not to).

Chef Moon - despite it's many flaws, still liking it. I dunno why.
Rugal - Kind of given up on this, too predictable.

In one recent episode of a popular drama eating and/or food was mentioned about 350 times. And then of course everyone proceeded to not eat the food on the tables.

It's a film/tv thing in general, too. Food continuity is really hard to maintain between takes and can get expensive (having to buy a dish for every retake) so it's best if the actors don't really touch it unless absolutely required. It does get to looking pretty silly though for certain scenes lol

It's funny because when I started watching dramas I was surprised at how often they actually eat the food. I was so used to western dramas where no one actually took a real bite of the food.

Western drama productions actually have cafeterias and such where they feed their crew. Koreans don't; and I've often seen actors in behind the scenes footage saying they hadn't eaten all day. It must be a lot harder to keep them from eating the props.

One of my favorite behind the scenes scenes is from Hello Monster where Park Bo Gum in his hospital room set gleefully welcomes the arrival of a tray of food, saying "Yay, I get to eat today!" By the time filming is done he has managed to eat every single last crumb!

That’s a running joke about PBG-the boy loves to eat...in every show. It’s like they’re starving him or something. On Lee Hyori’s Homestay show, he ate in between doing chores all the time. It’s adorable.

2

I will watch the final episode of I’ll Find You on a Beautiful Day tonight. For me it became an unfolding of relationships as the truth was slowly revealed. In a way, the pain of truth for Hye Won was spread out, and as Eun Seob explained, the aunt and mother keeping the truth hidden was one way of delaying the pain. Luckily the aunt reaffirmed this, which salvaged her relationship with Hye Won. Though Hye Won said she needed time and space first. And that’s where we are...how will the mom, aunt, Hye Won, and Eun Seob end up?
The King Eternal Monarch is typical Lee Min Ho fun. I’m in. He and Kim Go Eun was interviewed this week on E News Exclusive.

Close friends are occasional Kdrama watchers so when the quarantine/stay at home/lockdown started, a close friend started watching.

She watched DOTS first then CLOY, so I recommended Goblin (she liked it and found Gong Yoo cute!). She watched Hi Bye Mama on her own (progress! she finished it first while I'm stuck at ep14)! And I recommended I’ll Find You on a Beautiful Day , I was a little worried that it might have been a little slower for her. But thankfully, she's enjoying the drama.

I'm happy that I have someone in real life to discuss dramas with.

Hi Beanies! Our efforts are not in vain! My area has done a great job #flatteningthecurve that our hospital is opening back up again, doing elective procedures, seeing more patients, and most importantly, doing more COVID19 testing. I'm so humbled to have been a part of all this. And, yes, I'm sleeping better.

Otherwise, been making it through Hi! Bye! Mama and on episode 14 (midway point) now. It's just so heavy to watch all at once I've found. Still behind on Hospital Playlist--but I'm looking forward to getting it back on the rotation. Did manage to watch both episodes of The King Eternal Monarch, and I kinda like it? At least I like it enough to laugh at the jokes an into it enough to see the bromance between LMH and WDH. And love my girl Kim Go Eun--like love, love love.

Otherwise, something funny happened--

I subscribed to Eric Nam's phone number a few weeks ago. I get texts from it--probably not his real number--although he says it is--more to notify fans about stuff he's doing.

Well he texts almost daily-- and I got a notification the other day.

Then, my husband has the audacity to borrow my phone.

And sees Eric's name on my text list.

"Who's Eric?" he asks?

"Oh--someone I sent the dog's birthday pics to to see if they would help out the rescue we got them from..."

"Oh, ok."

Totally NOT some random kpop star that I don't even know one of his songs but thought it was interesting he would share is number on Twitter so I wanted to see if he would answer me if I sent some cute pictures of the dogs.

Moral of the story--I should of put "Rescue benefactor" as the name
2nd Moral-- We're going to win this COVID19 war.
3rd Moral-- Stay safe and healthy, Beanies!

I wish the COVID 19 testing was less restricted so more people can get tested.
Yesterday we had over 500 test kits and only a little over 100 were able to get appointments.
The only time we are busy is between 9 and 11am. We hardly have anything to do for the rest of the day except help people who comes without an appointment get one on the same day.

Ally I'm glad you are doing well!

In our area, you only need one symptom! Have a cough? Get tested! Feel a little short of breath because you’ve been on the couch for 4 weeks on lockdown and desired to actually walk? Get tested! Your allergies bothering you? Get tested! I had four patients a couple days ago that all got tested for coughing from other providers. All negatives. It was due to allergy season starting.

Dropping shows left and right lol. It's still better to drop shows when you think this isn't for you, (probably what I'll be doing for TKEM, still sticking through but it really isn't for me). But when a show decides to mess up things near the end ahh I feel like dropping at the last 2 episodes is doing disservice to the show I greatly enjoyed. I was about to do that to Hi, bye mama but still made it through all 16 episodes, first completed show of the year, yay. I haven't continued Weather since ep 12 because it drains me and real life is already very draining rn. Even though I love Weather and it's a calming story but it discusses heavy topics and I need to watch sth light now. I'll get there show, I'll get back to you but I keep hearing that you disappointed some beanies a little so I'm more reluctant to press play. Need some flowers, rainbows, butterflies and some good laughs. Where are you show?

I can’t say that Weather gets any less weighty, but I can say that the progression is done in. Satisfying way and it’s believable. That’s what I think I like so much about the show - the underlying human stories are relatable and transcend culture and time.

Oh I love Weather. Actually when I see it, I feel it's anything but heavy. But when I'm not watching it, it feels like the next episode will be intense. I mean it's weird, it has a weight attached to it but it's directed amazingly, that such heavy topics don't feel that burdensome. I just think I got out of that mood and I'm waiting for it to return to complete it. Weather definitely transcends culture, place and time.

I don't think I have ever watched as many Kdramas at once, in over a decade of Kdrama watching. It's not because I have loads of time, because my work is crazy busy right now, but because I am avoiding the news for the sake of my well-being and my blood pressure. So How many shows?
- Just finished Hi Bye Mama, and I am glad it's done because I was becoming more and more annoyed with the rivers of tears, the manipulation, the dropped plot points. I am free at last!
- Just finished Mr. Sunshine, and adored it. WOW. It goes right to the top of the list of my favorite KES dramas, even surpassing City Hall and that is saying something. Unfortunately, the blazing, dramatic ending coincided with--
- the bloated yet shallow yet confusing opening of The King, which suffers greatly in comparison. LMH keeps reminding me of Gilderoy Lockhart, with the preening self-importance and the embroidered velvet coat. I fervently hope, when this thing has ended, I'll be able to say more than "well, at least it was better than Heirs..."
- Weather was fabulous, and I am going to wait a week or so and then marathon the whole thing.
- Hospital Playlist; I have resigned myself to the fact that this is not going to be another Prison Playbook, and have decided to like it on it's own rather shallow terms. That's OK, if I want deep character studies and plots to mull over for days I can always turn to--
- A Piece of Your Mind, my favorite drama right now. Love everything about it. I am also watching:
- Find Me in Your Memory but bogged down in the stalker bits,
- Kingdom but needing to work up my nerve for daylight Zombies,
- Should We Kiss First but I am dropping it because it is that rarity, Kim Sun Ah stinker.

Hi there Beanies!
Happy Friday - right, it's Friday? The only way I can tell what day it is now is looking on the calendar.
Since I got laid off almost a month ago, I've struggled to keep busy looking for remote writing jobs and working in the garden. Then the weather turned cloudy and rainy here. But that's good for my allergies.
On the upside - it cost me less than $20 to fill my car with gas - but on the downside - I had nowhere to go but home. Then on the upside - I probably won't have to fill my tank for another month!
Oh - and rest assured I won't be injecting myself with Lysol or Clorox. This American beanie is so very embarrassed at the current leadership that she can't hardly watch the news anymore...

So after I do my requisite job search, I've been watching I"ll Find You in My Memory and LOVE it. I'll miss this show.
Also loving Memorist - this show has more twists and turns and has left me quite confused. But it's good.
Watching and enjoying Welcome Meow Boy and appreciate the fluff that it is.
Watched Tiger King on Netflix - what a hoot Joe Exotic is definitely presidential material! *wink wink*
In the process of watching One child Nation on Amazon. This is a documentary about the one-child rule the Chinese nation implemented for many years. It's well done, but hard to watch listening to what the doctors were forced to do to women. I still haven't finished it.
Without Hyena this weekend I'll stick with Married Couple as my crack show.
Will also try the next two episodes of The King to see how it goes.

Overall I am bored and lonely and struggling with being even remotely productive at home. Thank goodness for all you Beanies around the world!
Stay home, and if you have to work outside please stay safe. To those of you who are out on the front lines - thank you so very much!!!

Watched hyena from episode 8. Will watch hyena, piece of your mind, shattered dreams, malmoe, mystic cafe after 21st May. Reading lots of korean manhwa. Difficult to find translations but fluff stuff is awesome for these days. Oh and I go and watch takers sato’s short clips from Koi Tsudu... every now and then. It's now been 6 weeks at home for me and I live alone, so some days are harder than others.
Still - I've been trying to get out with my camera - and cleaning out all my external hard drives, and cooking/eating then watching dramas.
Been watching two on Monday-Tues and Wed-Thursday nights. Tried watching a j-drama this week that was only 6 eps long. thank goodness it was so short. Hey Sensi Don't you know? - awful, but I still finished it. Jdramas are really hit and miss for me.
What can we collaborate on together? hmmmmm I'll think about it.

1

@stpauligurl
Don’t! We all have ups and downs. The paychecks you are getting are from the tax you paid. Maybe on a more personal messaging service tell me about the kind of jobs you are looking for, can’t promise but people tell me am good at finding things virtually :)
Sometimes vacuums are for introspection. Photography sounds nice. We could make some sounds together? We need to find a common thread, then picking a medium to create should be easier :)
Open letters, photo dialogues, short audio diaries on time/life/death :)

Maybe not thinking about tomorrow’s and just being happy that we are healthy+doing something nice might help ease the guilt?
Oh and a note of appreciation: you sound disciplined. My days merge and I never stick to one or two dramas on a day... I am inert. If I am watching a drama, I want to finish it then. Tomorrow is another day but it might not also come :D

2

Hi all:

What a great week! For dramas at least!
The finale for Nobody Knows was perfect. It's been a while since i saw a finale that i didn't quibble about. So sweet. Nothing could wipe off that grin off my face. Hyena also had a great ending too.

Born Again reminds me of a really old drama i saw back in the day. Four or five people rotating through life, always with alternating relationships and love issues, never quite getting it right. I think they went through the relationships permutation about 5 times. There was an actress in it who looked Thai (or darker) than the typical korean actress. I got bored with the same folks always messing up and constantly not working out their karma. i wish i could find the name of it. I think it was a 90's or 00 drama. My big hope is that Lee Soo Hyuk gets the girl. At least this life around.

Find Me in your memory. -- i know the psychiatrists mean well but dang i hate it when people get intrusive about how other folks lives with turn out. One good reason you shouldn't tell your therapist everything and shouldn't befriend them.

Repeat the year -- why do kdrama people keep secrets to such a dangerous degree? I wish our hero had told his best friend/serial killer that the reason he came back was to save him from dying. I understand that secrets are the mainstay for dramas and that he didn't want to upset his friend but even if he didn't know he was a serial killer, he should've told him that his death was coming on a particular day. It'd make the plot a bit harder to write because serial killer would have to save his friend and be more conflicted in order to save himself but...aargh, ah me.

Eternal Monarch -- i saw the gorgeous Lee min ho looking like a model and every shot like a pose and i couldn't do it. I hate it when dramas go overboard wish fulfillment escapist like that. It just feels that the writers are out to impress netflixites and aren't letting the main character breathe or be more than a pretty face. Just my rant.

Held in a lonely castle -- ah me, supposedly the book is entirely from the daughter's pov. the writers took the book and totally created a story from the king's viewpoint. Not liking that but all that said, it's a lovely and great drama.

Beautiful Day, Rugal, and Piece of your mind are sweet but aren't irresistible crack to me as Nobody knows and born again are.

Legend of Awakening -- why does my sweetie Arthur Chen have such a godawful wig?

A great weekend, all. Keep safe. Don't go injecting yourself with sunlight.

I ignored most of how The King: Eternal Monarch looked on horse or standing or whatever, and am watching this to catch all the clues that I can about the logic of the parallel universes and the magic flute. It's kinda fun doing it with like-minded folks on the Bitches blog. We're getting way ahead of the plot with our guesswork LOL. Kim Go Eun, Woo Do Hwan, Kim Kyung Nam and the rest carry the show well.

I also finished, "Dr. Foster," and I much prefer the Kdrama version. I thoroughly dislike the trash talk in most American/BBC television series. Think that's why I gravitate to mainly Kdramas. I'm going to start "Queen In Hyun's Man," today. Stay safe and well, isolation isn't so bad if you've got lots of Kdramas on your "to watch" list.

I'm watching Once Again and am absolutely loving it. All the characters (apart from the mother-in-law) have got good and bad qualities. They are both endearing and annoying in equal measures. People get divorced, make tough choices, try to life their lives to the best of their abilities.

In fact, I like it so much that I checked out what else this screenwriter had written and it all made sense: Oh My Ghostess, Weightlifting Fairy, Familiar Wife. And now a weekend family drama.

I think I'm in for the long haul....

Me too.. Currently I m watching Once Again and The King. While the latter one has turned out to be a meh, Once Again is successful in keeping my interest alive and I m loving it.It is such a light and fluffy drama. The characters are funny and everyone has got their own story. Lee Min Jung has great chemistry with her on-screen partner although she is married in real life. I m not saying that married women can't have chemistry. It is just that I can't help but ship them which I know is not possible in real life. Whereas there is zero chemistry in The King and that put me off cause so far the story looked decent to me.
In Once Again I loved the siblings' bond and the life values. When the youngest daughter was feeling low they encouraged her so adorably.
I think I will watch it till the end (Can't guarantee about The King though).

another week in quarantine and another weekly kdrama rundown. i hope you guys are safe and healthy. lets ger right into it :))
1. starting with '365: repeat the year' WOW WHAT A TWIST I didn't see it coming at all, and it does seem a little weird, like there were other people who were more likely to be the killer.. but okay? I mean i don't hate it but i mean... kind of a let down?
2. i'm slightly more dissapointed in 'Memorist' as we still dont know the exact killer, but we are getting closer, but now everything is just so confusing and I can't tell who is who and who's bad and who's good and what name refers to which character and the complexity is frying my brain, i'm watching cuz its still interesting but really i just want the leads to kiss already.
3. 'hospital playlist' literally has my enitre heart, it's such a wholesome drama with a beautiful display of the medical world and such honest and well written characters, and even minor characters get good stories and plot lines. 10/10
4. Of course i cant leave out 'THE KING' i mean sure, i guess it's okay, these weeks episodes at least showed some growth? I don't know, we see some more plot in the time stopping thing? and I guess since tae-eul is in this world we will see more plot development? the thing that really annoys me with this drama is just the premise of the romance though, like where is the chemistry? where is the moment and the scene where he falls for her? why are we getting cheesy lines and director cuts of them lovingly staring eachother in the eye when they barely know eachother?? It's just, not hitting all the right spots romantically, and the plot is still weak so idk
I REALLY WANT A GOOD COMEDY DRAMA RIGHT ABOUT NOW anyhow let me know what you guys thought :))
