First Script Reading for tvN’s It’s Okay to Not Be Okay with Kim Soo-hyun, Seo Ye-ji

The cast and crew of tvN’s romance It’s Okay to Not Be Okay (formerly Psycho, but That’s Okay) were recently gathered for the drama’s first script reading and stills have now been released. Present at the reading were lead actors, Kim Soo-hyun (The Producers), Seo Ye-ji (Lawless Attorney), Oh Jung-se (Stove League), and Park Kyu-young (Nokdu Flower).

The drama stars Kim Soo-hyun as the character Moon Kang-tae, a caregiver in the field of psychiatry. Yet, in contrast to his job, he is someone who rejects love in his personal life. And he internalizes his feelings of emotional pain and loneliness so that others cannot see his struggles.

Enter Seo Ye-ji playing Ko Moon-young, a children’s book writer who suffers from antisocial personality disorder. As the two form a connection, they find support and comfort in one another and their relationship blossoms into love.

Oh Jung-se plays Kim Soo-hyun’s older brother, Moon Sang-tae, who struggles with Autism Spectrum Disorder. And Park Kyu-young plays Kim’s co-worker in the psychiatric unit, nurse Nam Joo-ri.

Supporting actors who were also at the reading included Kim Mi-kyung (Hi Bye, Mama!), Jang Young-nam (Find Me in Your Memory), Park Jin-joo (Her Private Life), and Kim Ju-heon (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 2) among others.

Writing for the drama is Jo Yong (Jugglers) and directing will be helmed by PD Park Shin-woo (Boyfriend, Jealousy Incarnate).

tvN’s upcoming It’s Okay to Not Be Okay is currently set to air in June, taking over the weekend timeslot following When My Love Blooms.

This really doesn’t sound interesting at all. But it’s also KSH and he’s prob the only one in the entertainment world that I’d watch practically anything for. So here’s to hoping it’s good and not The King. 🤞

Same. Put Kim Soo-hyun in it and I'll watch it. I remember all the characters he played so far. How they are all distinctly different and yet played by one actor. The guy is amazing.

Have you watched the script reading video? Am already in for the bromance. The dialogues between brothers are fun and witty. Kim Soo-hyun and Oh Jung-se has natural chemistry, and it's only the script reading.

Please drama, don't disappoint.

Just saw it!!

I didn’t understand the dialogues but looks like KSH won’t have any issues adjusting to acting. Even with the very long break, he seemed so into it lol.

Very excited overall suddenly. Here’s to hoping!

Questionable character descriptions (really want to read a children's book written by someone with ASPD now lol) but it's ma girl Seo Ye Ji, so.

I'm so glad they change the drama title. We don't need to attach derogatory term to mental health condition.

Really looking forward for KSH return to dramaland 😘

I like the change in the drama title so much, especially when it deals with mental health issues or emotional well-being. Saying “it’s okay to not be okay” is healing and therapeutic, and what people need for self-care and forgiveness, whereas “Psycho, but that’s okay” just wrongly perpetuates all sorts of social stigmas.

And having Oh Jung Se on board too! He can make me laugh in one moment, and cry the next. I’m already excited for this! (Least to say, Kim Soo Hyun heh)

I like that he's a caregiver and not her psychiatrist. I also like everybody in this.

Trying not to get too excited.

Kim Soo Hyun \o/ I missed him! I think one of my favourite drama of him is still Producer, the one with the worst ratings :p But he was so funny, he really had a good comedic timing.

Seriously...I loved him in Producers more than in any other work.He was so cute and funny in it.The ratings of Producers were actually not that bad but yeah if we compare it with his other dramas then they come out to be low.He even won KBS Daesang for it.
Seo Ye Ji😍😍.. Can't wait to see her. These two will make such a lovely pair .KSH had great chemistry with IU in producers as well.
I just hope unlike other healing and slow paced dramas this one gets high ratings and good feedback. These days even starpower can't save a sloppy script.

Seo Yeji was awesome in Rescue Me! The contrast between her ethereal looks and her grit, wow! She really pulled off what could have been yet another meh damsel in distress.
This drama doesn't appeal much to me, but I'll check it out just because of her and Park Jinjoo

I like that Kim Soo Hyun always try something new in each and every role. Not only are his characters vastly different, but his acting is also distinctly different like how he speaks and uses his eyes. I still can't believe Do Min Joon and the rookie in Producers are acted by the same person.

Same. It's even more amazing when you add Song Sam Dong to the mix. From village bumpkin, to...well, everything else.
I'm on a MLFAS and Producers rewatch, and the difference is so clear! Even his smile as Baek Seung Chan is different.

Kim Soo Hyun is enough reason to check this out. Then you add in Seo Ye-Ji and I am done. This is now the drama I am most eager for, even though I am lukewarm about the premise.

Seo Ye Ji is ♥. Kim Soo Hyun was pretty good in the 3 roles I've seen him in, he's one of the 2 Hallyu stars whose popularity I totally jive with (the other one being Hyun Bin)

I liked Jealousy Incarnate & Encounter, so hopefully the director will do well here too. Haven't seen any of the writers works 🤞

The drama sounds promising, though I'm not sure how okay I am with the psychiatrist x patient angle. Hopefully she isn't his patient, even though she's been diagnosed with a disorder.

I'm excited for this, can't wait!

I'm a fan of Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Ye Ji so I'm really looking forward to this drama. I love them both when they're doing comedy so when I first read that they'll be together, I kinda hoped that it'll be a funny one. Based on the details, though, I don't think I'll get what I want... But it's okay. haha

And i'm also really glad about the title change =)
