Summer Heat - 40 degree celcius. too much. time up. I don't want to compete. Little Boy is also feeling a bit of heat.

Little Boy can do 515k next week? 575k - 15th july. Let's see.

Heatwave gonna send me to St. peter before anyone other comes into play.

2019 summer suffering experience aka soldier training came in handy. Have comment - 2019.
Everyone has their living preferences and levels set. I only consume mineral aka alkaline water of a specific brand.
Big no to government provided tap water.
Because of lockdown i was in deep pinch. I had limited quantity of water. All other water sources i rejected.
No adapting to situation or circumstances.
No compromise with level set
I had only 1 litre of water per day. no sweat aka no precipitation.
Body getting heated up. fatigue high level.
Near heatstroke. sheer stupidity. total suffering.
But mind kept on saying - This is real test of your mental state.
Seriously, I'm about to meet St. Peter and here mind is busy playing games. and the topup was no fan usage. I had to raise white flag.

And because of that white flag and my mom - I'm alive. You play idiotic games, win stupid prizes.

Though, I'm happy that i didn't give into any temptation and all that working over dozen of months has mentally prepared me to face anything and everything with calm and to maintain my own set rules and principles. But that's extreme too and Extreme is always dangerous.
Those who are too kind, always can turn into too cruel.

Only if XI was USA president. It would have turned into much more fun. It took him half his life to get what he has now.
You have to appreciate his patience, courage and planning. You can see qualities of a real human in him. Its not like he was born like that but cruel winds of real life turned into him what he's now. And he doesn't feel any remorse about his decisions and acts that bring havoc on weak. But that's how this world works.
To beat the enemy -
You become strong
You weaken the enemy
If enemy is also progressing then you will never catch upto them. You have to deal both blows and that takes huge resources and time.

Xi's competition is Putin
and Trump needs PR agency of Modi.

I don't suppose there's anything anyone can say to stop you engaging in this self-destructive behaviour. This has nothing to do with mental strength, it has to do with basic physiological needs. If you don't give your body the water it needs it won't function properly. You should be drinking at least twice that amount when it ISN'T 40 degrees.

Denying your body water is not a sign of strength either mental or physical. Dehydration is serious business and limiting your intake of water in that kind of heat is dangerous. I'm not sure why you are playing this game with your health but principles are meaningless when you are you are about to cause permanent organ and brain damage.

Hi beans~ I hope everyone is healthy and happy 😆.

I have no new airing drama to watch yet after TKEM ended 🥺. Kairos will air in October, which is about 4 months away. In the meantime I decided to rewatch Trot Lovers 🤭.

I watched the squirrel video and it was so funny and kinda educational. I love the squirrel picnic table 😄. For those who haven't watched it...enjoy the squirrel video too: https://youtu.be/hFZFjoX2cGg 🌰🐿🌰🐿🌰🐿

I don’t know what to feel by Mystic Pop-Up Bar ending next week. I am not ready to let it go... Hands down, the best kdrama of the first half of 2020 for me and it looks like it’s gonna be my fave fantasy kdrama ever.

Happy midsummer's eve, fellow beanies!

I got stuck at episode 15 of Eternal PPL. I really hope it ends well and that I won't stay away so long I find out by accident. But there are so many shows to watch! Started Extra-ordinary you, Netflix released Hospital Playlist in my region and When the weather is nice is adorable. And even My Fellow Citizens is in danger of being dropped on account of negligence. I'm stuck on Marriage Contract since a year with one episode to go. Why do I do that? The final two episodes of any show are a hurdle nowadays.

Started my vacation yesterday and have identified this year projects. There's tile to replace and wallpapers to put up but the most interesting one will be to master meringue. Beware, friends and family and neighbors if you dare, there will be a lot of pavlova and Italian meringue buttercream coming your way.

Mastering meringue - an unexpected goal I’ve never considered! Wish I was one of the family, friends, and neighbors recipients of your efforts! I do have a goal this summer that is underway, and that is to paint with acrylics again. It’s been a while. My makeshift studio is up in a corner and I’m off to pick up ordered supplies to fill out my stash. Here’s to all of our goals underway!

Happy Friday, Beanies! Was it Love wasn't originally on my radar (I don't like love geometry/ "who's the husband" setups), but my friend sent me the latest trailer, and I really liked the way it's framed from the female lead's daughter's perspective. Come to think of it, previous single parent dramas I watched featured much younger children, and I'm curious about what an older child could add to the story. (Link to said trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYGJhj_l71A)

Mystic Pop-up Bar: Heading off to a strong finish! I like the way Weol-ju's discovery of the Crown Prince's identity panned out, with an effective use of flashbacks for emotional impact. I do wish our villain character(s) were better fleshed out though.

When the Camellia Blooms: The Joker plot stretched way too thin with the 4-ep extension, but this was such a warm and unforgettable show. The main and side characters had layers and layers that the writing patiently revealed. My favourite character reversal was Gyu-tae. He started off as a creepy landlord, but turned out to be the kindest, very much self-aware wimp.

Totally agree about the MPUP reveal! I've been noticing all those little hints, so I had an idea who the CP was. Props to the actor! The way the edited it into a full montage to build up the realization was perfect.

Hello all:

I've been walking and walking, attempting to lose weight and get healthier. Other than that, am just aiming to protect my plants from the cute little bunnies, chipmunks, raccoons, possums, etc. I planted three avocado pits and ALL three of them were stolen from the flowerpot. Apparently, although the skins of the pits are poisonous to chipmunks, the seed itself is a great treat to them.

Sweet Munchies -- i keep trying not to watch this but i end up watching. Dang Jung Il Woo is good! He was always a good actor but this soft, quiet, shy side of him (or a character he plays) is great to see. I'm so good he got a great role to show us his acting and cooking skillz. Kinda connected: I'm hoping Flower of Evil will show Joon Gi's deeper talent too.

Old School Intern -- That big reveal! I haven't been this surprised by a twist in ages! A fun touching clever and well-written drama. The male newbie intern is interesting. He can turn on a dime into a super nasty vicious person. Anything for a job. The desperation is visceral.

Mystic Pop-up Bar -- I love Hwang Jung-eum. She often seems to play the same characters, or maybe she plays all her characters the same way but i can't help it. i like her a lot.

CDRAMAS
Missing Persons -- Intriguing, confusing, good.
Romance of Tiger and Rose -- fun banter, although the banter isn't as fun as in "I've Fallen For you." Good fun.

Have a good weekend, all.

You can start your avocado plants inside the house! Use 2-3 toothpicks to balance them at the top of a jar or glass full of water (I use filtered, less chlorine). The roots will come out first, then the stem. Saves them from the chipmunks.

But @leetennant, it just means more avocados for you. We can coexist peacefully, well, except for the crunch of my celery that is.

Hmm... this is an excellent point @egads...
More smashed avo toast for me!
Maybe our friendship will survive this.

I recently learned that squirrels dig where the dirt has been recently disturbed (not sure about other rodents), so if you can disguise your newly-planted avocado pits, you might protect them from getting dug up? Rocks, mulch, etc?

Happy weekend Beanies and Keep Beaning On!

It is my birthday today! 🥳 🎉Which means lazy weekend with good food, presents, loved ones and maybe some movies and/or K-dramas?😆

I confided in a super-organized friend about my routine and jobhunting motivation problems and she suggested a week schedule trial until July. I had been cramming stuff without any importance or deadlines into a daily schedule and it made me feel unmotivated, bored or exhausted at the wrong moment or for too long. After a few days I am tentatively hopeful that a week schedule will work in my favor. Some issues are dragging on because of external forces, but most things could be done whenever I felt in the right productive mood for it, which was way more often than I originally expected. A week schedule also creates more opportunities for a few days off like this birthday weekend.📅

Fortunately, I did keep my promise last OT and did not touch Mystic Pop-up Bar episode 6 until Monday evening.😆 I had also been gobbling up episodes to catch up when the timing could not be any more off, so I am trying to spread it over a whole week now to decrease boredom. My curiosity suffered of course, but one episode every evening was a nice reward for running the week schedule trail all day. It is probably because of the angst phase, but at the moment I am more invested in our Pojangmacha than in Hari’s journey to motherhood!🤫

Also, on schedules - I make a daily list, divided into "Get 'er done" and "Possibilities". If I get a couple of things done from the first category, get to choose something from the second. I'm also forgiving with myself about moving things to the next day. Sometimes you can only make so many phone calls or be on hold for so long - that takes a lot of emotional energy.
Good luck with the weekly schedule!

Binged 1N2D S4 this week. It feels like I'm travelling SK. How I wish I can visit the places they went because it's so pretty but every time I check the map, it's faaaar. With House on the Wheels airing, I'll probably end up marking every city in SK. I did try to go as many places as I can on my first visit, which I plan to do again next time. *sigh* I really want to travel, I know it's impossible and might be a little selfish considering what's going on around the world but I miss going out and just walking around.

So these variety shows are giving me life. I might end up rewatching Grandpas Over Flower and all the YOF installations for the nth time in the near future.

The internet is a swamp of K-drama misinformation. Until recently, articles continued to state that Son Ye Jin and Kim Nam Gil's next project would be the Pirates movie sequel even though years ago both actors said they would not do it unless the entire original cast would return. But the idea of their return kept the idea (and possible investor interest) alive for the production for the past several years.

It only took this week's final announcement that EXO’s Sehun would join the Pirates 2 cast with Chae Soo Bin, Lee Kwang Soo, and Kang Ha Neul, with filming is set to begin in late July, to stop the SYJ and KNG reunion rumors.

Just about any fan post now can generate "news" articles in foreign press sites. CLOY was such a hit that a fan dream of a second season has grown into an unconfirmed "confirmation" of a CLOY season 2.
Part of this may be the misunderstanding on how streaming services like Netflix and American TV shows are developed for multiple seasons. In Korean TV and film is very rare to have sequels (most of which are only driven by a huge success of the original production).

6

But yesterday he came to me saying he isn't able to stay active since 4 days ago, no matter how hard he tried sometimes it is just for a few secs and he'd go limp. Since I'm still on a C-drama watch marathon...I spent the last week watching Arsenal Military Academy and finally finished it!
Anyone looking for a well made, female badass power casted show should definitely check it out. The story is set in the 1930s China where Japan has occupied various cities - I learned a lot about the China/Japanese war and history. The female lead disguises herself into a military academy. It also helps the male lead is so drool-worthy (Bai Lu). Apparently the pairing is famous from a previous drama, so I'll probably check that out next!

Hi beanies! Is that screen cap from 30 but 17??? Is that my adopted son, Chan? It’s been so long since I’ve seen him, I might have to do a rewatch!

On the drama front, I finished Find Yourself, the cdrama noona romance. This was really good by the end. It approached a lot of topics well and especially those involving social expectations and women, not just in China, but I felt like it was cross cultural. A lot of times, I don’t like Chinese dramas because they seem too propaganda-ish, misogynistic, but this was refreshingly feminist.

And I finished Where your eyes linger. Shoot. I have to find new dramas with these two guys. They played their roles so well.

And still watching Romance if Tiger and rose. Got a bit dark fo me this week. Pei heng goes rogue. I was worried for a split second about the attempted rape scene. (No means no, people.) Now, waiting patiently for next week when I can watch the conclusion.

I promised a story...I found out last week that Math genius has a crush.

Me: (to kids) What did you guys miss about school ending classes early?

Son: Science Olympia was cancelled.

Daughter: I know, we worked really hard, or maybe not that hard. The boys in my group kept talking about who they liked and I’m like—YOU’RE ONLY 11!

Me: Wait a minute. Isn’t math genius in your group? He likes someone?

Husband: *side eyes me*

Daughter: Oh yeah, S....

Me: Like your friend S...? I thought she was annoying?

Daughter: Yep. But she’s more mature this year than last year.

Me: Don’t you play video games with her and Zoom her every day? Have you said anything?

Daughter: No?

Me: *!!!!!* Well, why dies he like her?

Daughter: Mom! I don’t know!

Husband: Stop giving her the fifth degree. I know what you’re up to.

Me: Well, that would have been my first question if a boy I knew liked my friend.

Moral of the story: With great knowledge comes great responsibility.

2nd moral: My daughter is the “friend zoned” second lead.

3rd moral: They’re only 12 now. I think S... is still 11.

Personal News: my father, who had heart surgery little bit more than a week ago, is out of intensive care and doing a small recovery in a normal room in the clinic.
We are very happy although very melancholic because all his children live very far away and none of us could be with him. He is only being under the care of his partner and we only receive messages through the phone.
Still: those are good news. He is 62 and had been healthy all his life, except for his heart. So, he can live even longer than me!!! That's good enough for me, although it sounds dramatic.
Thank all of you, beanies, who had been asking me or praying for us, or sending me beanie love and good vibes.

Now I have wi fi again, by the way, so I want to resume watching some shows or have already started others!!!
Bad timing, I even found another part time job, there is another one on the line... the new apartment still needs arrangements and I really want to lose 4 or 5 kilos, maybe more.... 🙋
Life carries on... Even a person who had lost her way, just like me...
Please keep cheering me up... There is a lot I want to do for my dad, my sister and for myself, other than paying big bucks, since they don't have a dime.
Love you, guys!!!!!!😍

Good to hear your dad is doing better! It’s probably ok that you are not near him because with COVID19, you may not be allowed in the hospital even if you you were there. Love you too!

I was not able to actively keep up with your father's surgery this week, but he was in my thoughts and I am relieved to hear that he is recovering!

I'm sending my extra energy (from another 62-year-old) to your dad for his recovery. And know that just loving your dad is the important thing - big bucks are nice, too, but love is key. I'm sure knowing that you love him is helping him get better every day.

Happy JUNETEENTH America!!

2.5 years after Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, Union Major General Gordon Granger and his soldiers landed in Galveston Texas to announce the end of the war and that all slaves were FREE, 155 years ago...

let's ignore Trump's ridiculous claims to have promoted the holiday, and let's hope all those people that attend his rally (after signing waivers not to sue his campaign if they catch the coronavirus - how nice, right?) do not get sick and infect thousands of others because of their stupidity.

should be an interesting example of natural selection in progress....

Hi beanies!

My friends and I are planning to go to Korea next year (when things are better) and I would like to ask for your recommended stops and other tips for travelling. Thank you!

my family stated that their favorite thing about south korea was going to Jeju Island... we stayed 4 nights in Seoul prior to that. i recommend you include Jeju on your itinerary, it is beautiful and the grilled Black Pig, abalone and local seafood (sea snails, the sea urchin seaweed soup) are literally to die for...

walk the Olle trail if you can -- we did the vicinity of Seogwipo because we stayed on that side.

if you want to hike Hallasan, you'll need to dedicate a whole day to do so.

it is a beautiful/gorgeous island that should be seen on any trip to South Korea, in my humble opinion.

If you are in Seoul, the subway is a great way to get around to all the places of interest and neighborhoods. The subway maps are in Korean and English. You can buy transit cards at convenience stores (which is also a must encounter on the variety of things it sells).

OMGosh, I've been surfing around cyberspace to find something to watch for the past week. I watched everyone of Ji Hyun Woo's dramas I could find, and boy did he play a very sad character in, A Thousand Kisses! It's no wonder he won an award for that role. I must have tried five dramas since June 15th, none of which I could get interested in, so I decided to look for ones my favorite actors are in, and I'm finally on episode three of, A Piece of Your Mind. Stay healthy, wealthy, and wise everyone.

How are you finding A thousand kisses?
It was on my ‘plan to watch’ list but the reviews are so bad that I didn’t even bother checking it out.

Of all of Ji Hyun Woo's dramas I find it really good, but like I say I felt so sorry for his character, that I cried for him through most of the episodes. I would rank the dramas of his I've seen in this order: Awl; Wanted; Bad Thief Good Thief; A Thousand Kisses. I'm looking forward to his new drama, hope it's good.

It's Sunday here, and I always listen to music on my computer while I'm doing research. I've been listening to the OST all day long--the piano music is so soothing.

So excited to see Moon Jung-Hee in a cameo in Mystic PUB (episode 9)! I started tearing up as soon as I saw her - memories of I'll Go to You When the Weather Is Nice. And her story in Mystic is full of sadness and melancholy.
Skype visits with my 4-year-old grandson are getting harder. He's just so tired of the lockdown (Ecuador), and no visits to look forward to. At least he gets to see his other grandparents (abuelitos) on weekends. But now that he's old enough to understand time periods, he doesn't get to anticipate our next in-person visit. It's just "maybe when the pandemic is over." So proud of him for wearing his mask (without complaint) for a visit to a park (first time in 3 months).
The library where I work is talking about opening to the public in mid-late July. Staff are worried about trying to make visitors wear masks. I'm totally willing to stand at the entrance with a big poster of my grandson and say, "if he can wear a mask, you and your kids can wear masks, too."
Hope everyone in drama watching land is doing well and staying safe.

It’s Saturday morning here. OT has been my usual place to read and share things and I hope this will continue for a long time too.
I didn’t watch any drama this week but I watched Heart Signal season 3 from Youtube. I didn’t know K reality shows to be this impactful to me, to be honest. Shipping people can be one thing but watching people interacting is just interesting to me. The background music is one of the essence of the show, too.
Then, there is premiere of It’s Okay not to Be Okay, this weekend! I’ll watch it before reading any recaps or reviews or anything. And I’ll hope the drama will make up for my anticipation.
Have a wonderful weekend, beanies. Cheers!

Hi beanies. It's been a very weird week for me and I'm still dealing with it. One of my favourite Bollywood actors committed suicide this week and it was honestly very hard for me to watch the coverage of his death so I didn't. It was very strange for me. The moment I heard of his death all I could think was " If you only knew how much I loved and adored you'. His death also sparked a discussion on how Bollywood intentionally excludes non industry people from film projects and this one actress released a video holding the industry and it's nepotism accountable for Sushant's suicide. She was right to a very large extent but the way she talked about the issue was so off-putting. She made the video less about Sushant and more about her long-standing complains about the industry and it just left a bad taste in my mouth. He had so much of depth and it just hurts that I won't get to see him again. What hurts even more is that he was suffering so much. It feels a bit ironic that in his last movie, he played a father whose son had attempted to commit suicide and he was telling him how suicide wasn't the answer. I just miss him you know. I hope he finds peace. I am so thankful of the lovely memories that he gave me.

@manichan—I was stunned to read of Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide this week. I saw Raabta just a few months ago and was utterly charmed by this beautiful man. This is terrible.

I'm a bit behind on the K-drama news but I was shocked to learn Kang Ji-hwan, the lead in the late 2018 series 'Feel Good To Die', is now in prison serving two years for sexual assault on two employees of his talent agency. That's an eighteen year career flushed down the toilet. This all went down when he was in the middle of filming a TV Chosun series. The studio had to swap out the lead actor 10 episodes in to keep the series going.

You are describing the events surrounding JOSEON SURVIVAL which was a nice fusion sageuk from little TV Chosun. There were a few faithful DB fans who were enjoying JS when it all went to hell because of the ML. I give credit to the production company for finding a way to finish the drama. I do not give credit to ODK (of which I am a subscriber) for stopping to sub it after episode 8.

Something has been on my mind for quite awhile and I'm wondering if any of you feel the same way--there are a lot of Korean actors/actresses that I think look enough alike to be siblings. For example: Park Bo-Young & Park Hye-Soo; Han Ga-In & Kim Dong-Joon; and Kim Soo-Hyun & Jung Hae-In.

An update to anyone who took the time to give me advice or share their experience, about if i should keep seeing my therapist who makes me uncomfortable or not. I end up cancelling my appointment, and i feel actually so much relieved. I'll stay with myself for some time and will try probably to find another therapist later. Thank you all for taking the time to reply !

It's all about your therapist being a good fit for you. They should never be rude or make you uncomfortable. Unless that style somehow works for them but it doesn't sound like it's good for you. When you do find the right person to counsel you it's great. Personally I needed someone who was a good listener, supportive, and made me see things from a different perspective. When my therapist told me the point of counseling was not to need it any more I was crushed. I understand it but felt like she was breaking up with me. I still remember her fondly.
