Little Boy - 1175k - 1st week November

1215k - 19 November

Busy - too many shows and movies at hand. I can get throw all of them if keep following the rules designed. Good to see quick translations of almost all airing Japanese shows.

This week stock market was hectic but far far far more fun. All the ups and downs, managing positions. This week mostly was saving your investment as well as whatever return you get than making profits.

What won't be Accepted as an Actor -

This might look unprofessional to many but everyone has there own set of rules and its upto them to keep them or not. Either you lose a good project or maybe other party accept your demands. Its also about how much leverage you hold.

1. No drinking or smoking - no no no.
2. No gambling scene - not at all
3. No kiss scene - use CGI or body double
4. No weapon scene - barehands fight acceptable
5. No no-more scene - you are alive
6. No conjob role
7. No violent or -ve role
8. No rash driving scene - no to traffic violation
9. Food acceptable - Nutritious food, no to any fastfood scene
10. No to kings and queen nonsense dramas

and few more - but that's enough for now.

Happy Friday.

My region is being attacked by early snowfall and I'm going to use this as an excuse to hermit under a blanket and maybe catch up some dramas and reading. I mean, not that I haven't been staying home for the last seven months to avoid covid, but the snow and ice are making this forced sequestering slightly more in the "normal" range of life.

Anyways, have I mentioned that you should watch Into the Ring? It will make you smile and laugh, and best of all, you can watch the whole thing in one big gulp. Feel free to thank me when you finish.

Stay safe and healthy beans. Treat yourself to something delicious, and maybe reach out to someone who might be quietly struggling during this weird and awful time.

Ooh, I think you had recommended Into the Ring before, and then I forgot, because my capacity to focus is apparently even worse during a global pandemic. And I'm sitting here watching the snow fall too, thinking dark thoughts. Time to activate the Happy Light 6000 and take some vitamin D ... urggghhhhlelhglshd it's still. only. I loved Into the ring so much, that what it ended I enthusiastically recommended my sister to watch (she never live watches any drama, always waits until they are over and asks for my opinion). I was devastated when she told me she had dropped on episode 11 because she found it... boring!!! How come??
I almost didn't talk to her for a couple of days. I felt utterly betrayed.

btw @leetennant I was just thinking that if you haven't already, I think you should try Steins;Gate (don't ask me why it has a random semi-colon in the middle, I don't know) - but I think it might fall into the Dark part of our venn diagram. It's a time travel anime, and the first few episodes are weird, but give it a bit and it all comes together. (Be careful not to confuse it with its sequel, Steins;Gate 0, which is also gjldflkjbo.)

2

I love Steins Gate! Can’t recommend it enough! Lovely anime with lot of heart!

I was really enjoying Into The Ring then I just ...stopped watching? I don’t know why, it’s just one of those years. I need to pick it back up.

I’m glad we’re coming into summer here. Winter is so depressing. My snow story is that my 3yo saw all the blossom was gone from our fruit trees and said “has it stopped snowing?”

Having said that I feel guilty for staying inside watching dramas when it’s sunny and nice out...

I try to keep up on k-entertainment trends. But recently I have found that many celebrity fans have flooded my feeds with a monsoon of misinformation. When I open YouTube, there are dozens of fan created gossip or shipper videos. When I open Twitter, there are fandom conflicts over a celebrity's "best" OTP. They are not based on facts but personal opinions defended as only truth.

There are now weekly social media polls on who is the best celebrity. It has come to the point where people are creating photoshopped Dispatch style "dating" pictures or reading imaginary tea leaves to predict the future marriages. Fandoms take these so seriously it is like they are at war with potential rivals. Things get so heated that hate comments begin to flow into the actual celebrity's IG or Twitter accounts.

I know fan is from fanatic. I know fans are passionate about their favorite actors and idols. I know there are anti-fans who troll others to cause conflict.

I find this incredibly unfair to the actual celebrity, whose image, especially in Asia, is a key component to their ability to work or get endorsements. Agencies tend to manicure an artist's reputation. Artists are encouraged to interact with their fans. But on social media, one rumor that spreads like wildfire can cause actual harm (professionally and personally). I find this a disturbing trend.

I think that to be a celebrity, actor, actress or any public person you have to be so mentally strong in today's world. People are brutal especially on the internet (apart from the lovely Beanie community as I found out) and there is no way we can change other people. The awareness campaign about commenting kindly might help, but I truly think that those public figures have to be very mentally strong.

Upon watching Dear My Youth (Coffee Prince reunion), the actor who played Ha Rim talked about by being an actor one needs to know that one is on the receiving end: Be it love, roles or anything so one needs to be approved to get those things. I actually felt sad for them, really. It seems like they have to make the public approve of them all the time, and we all know that the public is pretty crazy these days.

5

Required fields are marked *

Agreed but dare I say something a bit controversial? They have to speak up. It's not just about avoiding fake facts and stalkers, they have to keep private lives apart and stop feeding this kind of thinking, this culture of being a part of the private. They gain from this but it has a heavy price, while they are not willing to refuse the gains they will keep being charged the price.

4
1
reply

Required fields are marked *

I agree with your points. They do gain something from providing what the public wants. The price is pretty high though and brutal in a lot of cases. In this case, I think that by drawing a clear line as many acting professionals do will help.

However, I do realize that actors are also artists. I believe they are quite sensitive people. Many people rely on other people’s approval and believe they’re as good as other people think they are for all their lives. It’s sad but true that many have grown up believing this. I’m afraid some actors or public figures might have been like this and they will suffer a great deal from being public figures.

A big hit by IU two years ago was the song 'Bbibbi' where she literally tells intrusive fans to back off and don't cross the line. As the song progresses her comments become increasingly brutal 'til she's straight-up calling them stupid and uncultured. And her fans loved her all the more for it.

8

Required fields are marked *

I LOVE that song. I believe she wrote the song because of the tragic incident that happened to her dear friend. It’s true that netizens should learn to respect other people’s private lives and I was actually happy and thanked IU for providing this lesson to people in the way she is most brilliant in.

Required fields are marked *

Many, not all, Korean netizens tend to be quite unforgiving when their idols/celebs turn out to have feet of clay. Recent controversies surrounding the military reality show Fake men and its instructors (past & present) have snowballed with some unfortunate consequences.

2
reply

Required fields are marked *

Unfortunately, irrational ardent fans can be part of a celeb management's plan generating hot topics and perhaps a false impression that the celeb is more popular than they actually are.

Celeb management might be more involved with fan clubs/support groups than it should. I read about a couple cases where such relationship backfired on the celeb when they did something that turned their fan leaders/fans against them.

Unless management from the very beginning set out and enforced boundaries on fan behavior, trying to rein them in later on is not easy.

4

Required fields are marked *

So in short, you had better choose to be with a good management company. The ones that only look at profits their artists (and their so-called fans and anti-fans) make will no wonder do anything and everything in their power just to make them able to gain profits.

5

Required fields are marked *

The Stan culture/idolatry is rampant and it gets to a point where it's just too much. I feel like in the West, celebs/public figures are able to have that boundary between their fans/public. But in Asia, it's more pickier and judgy on their actors. Some singer said that even if they try to ignore the rumors and such on Naver and etc, that they would get alerted by family/friends about it, so its never ending and hard to not think about it :(

In Korea, actors/actresses can't disclose their partners b/c their privacy will get out of hand and they can't settle down until later. It's really a mental game at the end of the day, some stars who are Hallyu stars have a strong mental stamina/endurance to be able to handle fame.

Amy Adams once said something that stuck by me, "Actors have to vulnerable in order to act, and relate to their characters. But at the same time, they also have to be tough in order to protect themselves from fame and rumors." Seems like a tough/uneasy balancing act to be in the public eye ://

Happy weekend Beanies and keep Beaning On!

My social network and I are healthy for now, but some of my loved ones experienced scary things in their own social network this week. My K-drama friend had to wait a whole weekend to find out that she had tested negative. My goddaughter had to stay at home a few days because her kindergarten teacher had to wait for her (negative) test result after a colleague had tested positive. My sister has been social distancing in her day care center, but a couple of parents tested positive and had to quarantine their young children as well. The worst one was the sudden disappearance of a good friend of a relative, who died an accidental death and was found a few days later. I cannot help but feel for those people in my social network. How horrible it must have been to wait by the phone the whole time for confirmation on whether they or their loved ones were still in good health or alive!😨

I do feel sheepish about making a fuss about that job offer the past few Open Threads now.😳 At least I still get to be here in good health, no matter what the outcome might be. I also got the intel that state departments usually take their sweet time with recruitment affairs, and the stricter corona measures cause them more delays nowadays. So I started my long overdue break this week with little guilt, books and some movies from my list.📚🎥 My frenemy Time will take care of the rest as usual, I just need to make sure that I am not starting all the K-dramas and fun projects that I stumble upon at once.😂

I am a bit sad knowing the age (in the show) of ML of DDSSLLS. The show has been very cute from the beginning. I don't want to feel this way, but I can't think of how Ra-ra will feel once she finds out about this.

I don't know how to explain this but I'm feeling like I can't enjoy their cute relationship to the fullest; He still hasn't told her about this, so she still has no clues. Somehow, I even feel like Dr.Cha is the more suitable choice if this happens in real life.

Ohh.. my heart is so heavy. 😔

I understand you. It was a total shock for me, and that's the reason I decided to stop watching.
But regarding Dr. Cha being a better choice, I disagree. Dr. Cha is problably 15-20 years older than RaRa (I guess he's in his early 40). No, not a good choice at all. I hate age gaps whatever direction they are when there's no balance, and there's no balance in that couple.

4
reply

Required fields are marked *

Now I think I understand myself a little bit better: Perhaps it’s not the love Jun has per se and the age gap between the leads, but the fact that the missing piece of information could have played the big role in determining in which direction the relationship would head (especially on Ra-ra’s side) is making me a bit anxious. I would have been okay if she knew the truth from the beginning and them falling in love no matter what. But this!

Here is hoping that the drama will have a satisfying solution for this quite unnecessary mess. He is still a high schooler, not even a high school graduate!

Hi beanies. It's been a rough week for my family here. We lost a family friend to Covid. He was the husband of my mom's friend. His elder son had been in UK at the beginning of this year for his postgrad and was diagnosed with depression. They had gone to the UK and got him back and did not got covid then. It was so strange that the dad contracted covid at home. We're extremely concerned about the family because we haven't been able to get in touch with them.
In other bad news, my grandmother, who had been staying with my uncle, who is in another state, before the pandemic began and is still there, slipped in the bathroom. She got stitches on her head and has injured her 7th vertebra. She's currently on complete bed rest. Stay safe and take care of yourself beanies

Sometimes, life can be a very bumpy road.

I too was diagnosed with a mild depression. That was why I never got to finish my second LL.M. at a university in London. I think we can say that the son you mentioned and I are pretty much the same. If you can, please tell him that I understand what he has been going through. Together with a loss in a family, it’s hardly not to think that their family must have felt so broken. But you know, sometimes, the best people can face the toughest situations. Hang in there, please?

I learned that by having any illness, be it physical or mental, doesn’t mean that our life has ended or we cannot live a fulfilled life OR you’ve done something wrong. It just happened and that’s it. Be vulnerable as you should be: Express your positive and negative emotions in the proper way. Oh! Another thing is that I learned that there is nothing unconditional love can’t cure. Together with proper medical treatment, if he knows that he’s still loved and respected all the same he won’t feel like much has changed. I think you can do that much for him.

Sending you and your family’s friend’s family lots of positive energy from here. I helped a blind student today, so I can send you some of the positive energy I got.

Good way to get your job done when you have to attend meeting as an observer tho. lol

- I starts rewatching Record of youth but not feeling it.
- I watched Search and Startup too. Havent decide on those 2 shows but I did laugh when I saw Dalmi holding a dior bag when she cant afford a new high heels.
- Alice is just... I lost even tho I'm watching that show ngl. and give me more Minhyuk you coward 😡😡

So right now the only show that I really like now is just 18 Again tbh.

I was upset about Zombie Detective. I think because not only ratings, but disastrous performances by its cast and confusion of same name Kim Moo-young and dad Kim Moo-young.

In the downfall of ratings, after last week, it reached the highest rating peak by episode 8 where Moo-young's mom/grandma died (3.7). But this week, the ratings got darker. The ninth episode sank to 3.1 and by the following episode, it collapsed back to 2.0. I think my fave Zombie Detective will be flop if it couldn't get surpassing 3.7 above by the next week's finale. :(

In my opinion, in the aftermath of episode 8, the cast were not happy at their acting job at all with poor dialogues and underperformed because making funny, hilarious scenes beyond episode 8 are unlaughable. But again, in my opinion, my only cameo who did a great job was the real Seol Chae-hyeon (https://asianwiki.com/Seol_Chae-Hyeon_(1985)) by himself (episode 9). All newbies of episode 10 with the regular cast were truly disastrous so this week's episodes were ended up my disappointment.

I'm checked at its Asianwiki page that I didn't think and I confuse that Kim Moo-young and Kim Moo-young are same name because I hope it would be ML/zombie-and-dad connection so let's see my predicted connection will be correct.

I think Shim Jae-hyun (https://asianwiki.com/Shim_Jae-Hyun_(director))'s PD job will not be do well if Zombie Detective will be flop if the last two episode's ratings didn't go past 3.7. He was the PD of all KBS drama shows... so one out of three didn't go forward with the production yet. I wondered for me what happened to his previous KBS drama PD project Wings, Fly Up (taekwondo drama), it's because for me, the principal photography was halted because of Covid-19 and he was forgot! I hope if Zombie Detective will flop in the end, then Shim will not be duplicate his success from another PD project (The Producers, 2015).

Meanwhile, I need more action scenes/crime scenes for that Zombie Detective write. I blame it's my fault on returning spoofs and comedy this week's episodes and I knew the Zombie Detective writer will be disappointment and I hope to need another try for new drama writing so I beg this writer.

Good morning Beanies,

Last Friday was sad/happy Day. I voted and we went to funeral viewing of my grandma. It was funny. As I could not find the ballot box during day time. However, when it was night time. I find ballot box. I am very proud as my daughter behave at church that night. That morning was my grandfather reburial. We could not go there.
Therefore, yesterday, my uncle post the video on fb. It made me cried again as I was not there. On Saturday, last week, was burial for my grandma. It was really hard to say goodbye final time. My youngest aunt took it really hard because she lived with my grandma. I am very proud of my daughter as she he have those two days. The only strange thing are to my families wearing mask. Therefore, I have not seen much dramas.

RIP Grandma. Be happy in Heaven with Grandpa and uncles. I love you.💕❤️

Be safe and healthy every one!!!

Aaaaaa.....

2 more days to Kairos!!!

Excited and worried! Worried I'm too excited 🤣. Anyways...lately I'm busy playing trivia and collecting virtual halloween monsters and also trying not to look suspicious in Among Us. I'm getting distracted from dramas because...mmm...I'm a gamer now 🙃.

Hi beanies! I hope y'all happy and healthy!

Been a rainy and stormy week, literally here in the pearl of the orient seas! 😅
I've watched finale of 2 shows I've been watching: Age of Youth S2 and DYLB. And boy was that satisfying! Haha. But deep inside, there is that little feeling of loss every after kdrama ends, like everytime! 😄😄
I plan to start new shows soon I get over this feeling! Most beanies recommended Start Up and I plan to watch this sooon!

On the other hand, I busied myself trying to be in shape. I mean its hard. Coming from years of dedicating myself to work then suddenly having to be on a break. 😅 Currently, I enjoy boxing! Not that I am near good at it but I am learning each day through google (ha! Can't bring myself to gym yet and thankful for I have jumping rope, punching bag and gloves here at home! 🙈) It releases stress and gives me a feeling of being strong! 💪

Attended my very first webinar that is work-related and things looked a little favorable with the processing for our deployment, I think I'll be back in the field soon 🙈🤞🙏

Keep on beaning!

Can we talk about Do do la la do do sol and how Ra-Ra stalker knew her from way before! Also he just gives me the creeps especially when she was talking about having more students and he freaked out. I just know he is going to hurt the little kid ( I think preview confirms this)
Also that kiss! I thought I would be more weirded out but I’m actually ok with it. They make a cute couple. I love it when he says no to ra ra but does it anyway.. like that salad. Also loved the way she shot down dr cha so completely. She is not that ditsy. I think she has a deeper understanding of people’s feeling it’s just she has a care free positive attitude. At least we know the dr is her benefactor, but still a bit odd he waited so long to tell her and encouraged her to go to that town.

P.s sorry for spelling I’m on my phone and auto correct hates me lol
