There are times when things pop into my head for no apparent reason. When reading last week’s OT New Year’s greetings, this hit my frontal lobe: Kdrama contains “Karma.”

Start of the season and woah little boy is happily active and with full momentum. World still in wide disarray and expectations of human blood on cold streets being managed somewhere. That's how this season goes almost always. Way more true for last 10 years.

Change is imminent but way more difficult to see and accept and implement in your life.

I like to be clear on things - more confusion, less accurate decision making leads to more errors and defeats. Properly defined things helps you make fast and more reliable decisions and actions taken are less vulnerable to faults.

In 2021 i had 1 post on dating and date and what i think what it was and how saw it as - Someone had replied how what they didn't saw as their date turned out to be a date for the other party involved. So it was clear cut and properly made framework what and where the line and limits are.

The same way i normally get confused with Crush, Like, and Love - Ofcourse you can google and can find dozen things on like vs. love but i do feel that again depends from one human to other. This is why i for most part don't get romantic couples in media -
Crush - i always added into lite and light physical attraction - whereas in various media i saw crush shown as way more serious business.
Like - After doing everything in the relationship - its mere a like. a relationship of years. More serious but not as much as >

Love - After so much time spending together like is love - and that too the person is assuming and knows nothing about,

I think i love you - What does this even mean - Where is your surety and how your reached that decision - What's the criteria - Without reason and rational nothing happens - what's logic behind it? Why Think? If there is fall in then there is fall out - then where Love comes into pic? Was it not that from the start in the relationship? feelings grow n fade - n there are numerous other things you can talk.

What's he couple objective? - all comes down to mother earth's engineering, isn't it? forward the species.

You know how we said ages and ages ago life should really just leave an isa alone every now and again? Life did not listen, as it rarely does. But thats ok. So, here is a little life update.
I resigned from my job at the end of November. My last day was the end of December. It was all hectic and stressful and so unnecessarily mean. But, its over. Im in the middle of a well earned vacation (which is why I had all the time in the world to post obsessively about Meeting You Loving You) and on Monday I start the hard work of looking for a job while also working through some work books to see if I want/need to change careers. And also looking for a pt job so that my savings will last longer.
I have an interview this afternoon for a job that I have no idea if I want. Or, I do have an idea and that idea is--no? Not really? And Im not trying to rush into another job for the sake of having one--something I've been doing for the last forever and ultimately intensely regretting it. I applied for a job that I thought that I super wanted--had a banging preinterview that went so well the hr rep I interviewed with applied on my behalf for another job in addition to recommending me for the job I interviewed for and I didnt get invited to interview for either! :( But the job just became available again and I reached out to the hr person I interviewed with before and she said that I didnt need to apply or interview again that she would pass my name and the notes from our initial interview on to the branch manager and we'll see. The job sounds like a dream job, and its not as a children's librarian. So, I dont know.
What I do know is that Im going to take my time, this time. Ask more questions, talk to more people. Dont leap and dont accept a position out of fear. And in the mean time, Im going to enjoy this time off as much as possible. And hopefully find another gem to binge.

Have a great break and I hope what comes next is good for you! Work is somewhere we spend so much time, it doesn’t necessarily need to make you jump with joy everyday but it shouldn’t actively make you miserable - so remember that you’re interviewing them to see if you want to be there as well as them interviewing you.

Since I started reading again and managed to read a lot in the last 3 months I felt confident enough that my 2022 Goodreads goal is a 1000 books and I am already at 25 and while that's mostly comics, I also started 5 books all at once. It remains to be seen how crazy that decision is lmao.

This doesnt feel as encouraging as I was trying to be. Here are some exclamation points to show how enthused Im trying to be.

I would be lucky if I read ten books last year 😅 unless I am counting the books I read to my kids, and even then I’d have to be allowed to count every single time I read them or I would get stuck on one number for ages (they have their favourites 😂). Good luck!

I am starting off this year with a goal to only watch shows I actually want to watch. The past few years my interest has waned when it comes to the dramas I have watched. Mix in with depression and my interest hasn't been the same. Gonna use this approach with work as well. Only doing projects that I want to do and learn to say no more.

It's Summer here. I think this is my first proper post. Thank you to everyone working and the community for an engaging site.

Currently watching Bad and Crazy. First time I'm keeping up with shows as they release. iQiYi app is trying to force a subscription but NGL, I don't mind watching with ads. The story is the story and good enough to keep me watching.

I've been reading stories here for quite some time silently. I never would have imagined to actually write my own.

There's not much about me to talk about.
The reason i got into kdramas was because sk makes great thriller/mystery/cop dramas. Signal, Tunnel, Life on Mars, Forest of Secrets, Liar Game, etc. Those kind of dramas are one of few reasons for me to... stay alive?
But last year, i couldn't watch any dramas in that genre at all.
Beyond Evil, Mouse, and Flower of Evil are still on my watch list, but i have no idea when or how i'm going to watch them since i experienced a lot of mood swings last year.

I think i just got too personal. Is it okay to be like this?
Anyway, my wish this year is to be able to watch those dramas and find joy in them again.

I think it’s really normal at the moment, life’s been really weird for the last couple of years so a lot of the dramas that used to interest me just don’t grab me in the same way anymore. (For what it’s worth, I really like Mouse, but it’s the only one of those three I’ve seen - also I don’t tend to be a thriller watcher so probably watching something outside my usual helped).

Last year i decided to watch something light and warm like Vincenzo, Homecha, and Happiness.
All three of them are shows i usually skip.
I often dislike romcoms, i find most of comedy in kdramas make me feel secondhand embarassment, and i don't watch anything with zombies in it... until Happiness.
And it's quite interesting to find myself enjoying all of them. Happiness is my top watch, it has its own league

I have yet to check out Happiness, but it’s on my list. I started a lot of dramas last year but I didn’t finish many 😅 hopefully my follow through /choosing of dramas will be better this year.

You should check it out. It only has 12 episodes and our leads are so likeable.
I also started a lot of dramas last year, in effort to get out from slump, until i don't even remember which one has which storyline cuz they're blurred😂 for me first 2 episodes are enough to decide if it fits my taste or not.
I also hope this year we'll get lots of great dramas

2

If ever you feel you have been too personal: you haven't. Beanies are cool and caring. And if ever you need reassurance of that I have had so many meltdowns here you are welcome to come to my wall, make yiurself comfortable and read all of the overshares Ive given over the years.
Youre fine! Youre amongst the Beans!
I hope you find something you enjoy watching. Every time Im slumped or life is just too much (and it is often too much for me. I may have a low tolerance?) I like to rewatch dramas that brought me comfort.
Im glad youre alive and I get to meet you.

I'm currently rewatching Suits for Park Hyungsik (and also cuz i unintentionally forget the storyline almost entirely) and sometimes rewatching several episodes of Happiness... also for Park Hyungsik and the otp's chemistry.
I'll make sure to visit your wall whenever i have a hard time and i'm glad to meet you too

I have. I actually discovered Park Hyungsik earlier, in The Heirs. His character was a ray of sunshine while other characters were so frustrating. I felt like i want to save him from them😂
His charm was truly shined in SWDBS but, maybe cuz i don't really like romcoms, i think SWDBS doesn't do justice to his talents?
It's like his character can be so much better than that.
Maybe it's just me.

But i agree in SWDBS he was so dreamy. I envied Park Boyoung so much at that time

Welcome to the world of Non-lurking! And don’t worry about getting too personal, Beanies talk about everything.
Many Beanies go through slumps on kdrama in general or on their favorites kinds of shows at some point(s). I’ve been through many where nothing is appealing. Luckily, some show always comes along to get me started again. Like isa, when that happens I watch old favorites that feel like I’m visiting good friends.

I've been in kdrama slump for 2 years. In 2020 i think i only watch FoS 2, Start up, Hi Bye Mama, Train, and Stove League.
I watched Stove League a bit late but it was the only one exceeding my expectation.
Now i'm considering to watch FoS season 1 cuz i miss Hwang Shimok's stoic face and his... antics(?)
Also probably watch old kdramas that i haven't watched yet. Dramas from 2013-2014 maybe

@laeonni,
If you decide to venture back into my favorite genre (cops/crime mystery) jump back to 2020 which I consider an outstanding year for dramas in that genre.
In 2020 12 of my beans were in cops/crime/ mystery:
THE GAME: TOWARDS ZERO, NOBODY KNOWS, 365: REPEAT THE YEAR, TEAM BULLDOG: OFF-DUTY INVESTIGATION, THE GOOD DETECTIVE, TRAIN, FLOWER OF EVIL, FOREST OF SECRETS 2, MISSING: THE OTHER SIDE, ZOMBIE DETECTIVE, SEARCH and KAIROS. I enjoyed them all but if I had to choose 6 I would recommend:
NOBODY KNOWS, THE GOOD DETECTIVE, FLOWER OF EVIL, FOS 2, MISSING: THE OTHER SIDE and KAIROS.
For 2021 BEYOND EVIL is in the same league as the above.
Good luck!

Nice to meet fellow Beanie who also like crime mystery/cop genre!
Thank you for your recommendations!
I already watched FoS 2 but honestly it's mostly procedural and politics unlike the first one, so it's kinda easy to watch... but also a bit boring cuz i don't understand anything😅
But it's not bad at all. I still love the duo prosecutor-cop. I like that they're so reliable.
I've heard lots of good reviews about Kairos. I didn't do that well in sk but lots of international fans love it, so I might watch it one day.

I actually prefered the second season of FoS because the story was more credible for me, it was a lot about the characters and their actions. The first one was more spectacular but very drama-esque too.

I agree that season 2 provided us more about our leads motives, especially Han Yeojin and Seo Dongjae. We can see their values through their actions in season 2.
Season 2 also showed us much interesting dynamics between our leads.

I hope they'll have season 3. I wonder what they have in store for us.

I also tend to watch crime mysteries too (both the police and the legal ones), plus is that this is the only genre that my hubby watches with me. For western shows, this is almost exclusively what we watch. For K dramas, I would recommend FOS of course, Nobody Knows, The Good Detective, and Beyond Evil. Mouse is good too though I think they stretched this story too much but it was fun seeing dark Lee Seung-Gi. For the 2021 shows, I actually finished Chimera. It went under the radar, and while, yes, the big bad was underwhelming, but the crime method was interesting. If you want to venture into legal genre - i'd recommend Law School. I grew up watching Law and Order so this is why I gravitate to these stories but you are right, sometimes, I also find that my state of mind is not ready for it.

Required fields are marked *

I don't know much about Nobody Knows and The Good Detective but since other Beanies also recommended them, i'll try to check them out.
I intended to watch Chimera few weeks ago cuz of Park Haesoo, but i saw not many people talked about it. So i guessed it's not as good as people hoped for? I'm still torn about Chimera.

I want to watch Mouse but so many people around me gave me spoilers about it that i lost the excitement to watch😂 i hope one day my mind and soul suddenly forget all those spoilers so i can give it a go

Law and Order was one of the shows i regularly watched back then until one day i decided it was getting too hard for me to watch. You're right. When you're in good state of mind, these stories are exciting to watch. But if you're not, they can be very heavy and depressing.

Chimera is not bad. but I think you can skip. i dont think the production team ever did market it.. i sort of heard somewhere that it was already completed in 2019 or something but got shelved for some reason. i watched it for Park Haesoo too.

It’s summer and school holidays, I might have time for dramas again once the kids are back at school? In the interim I’m doing all the new year things about being enthusiastic about Exercise! And Cleaning the house! And doing Activities with the children! I estimate this will last approximately two weeks.

I’ve also been rewatching Mystic Pop Up Bar at a couple of episodes a week with my sister (who has not seen it), it’s still lovely.

Happy weekend Beanies and keep Beaning On!

My K-drama friend is coming over this weekend for a belated new year celebration. We aspire to organize one sleepover every month in order to take care of our mental health and to continue with our Disney Classics marathon. We already virtually meet up every weekend to catch up or to watch K-dramas together, but more is necessary.🎥

The year 2022 is a big question mark for both of our futures. Our goals will not be met this year, but it would be nice to have some confirmation that we can work towards them in 2022 and that it will actually amount to something in 2023 or later. Our frenemy Time will tell.🕰️

Fortunately, we can confirm for ourselves on the smaller things, so we have already picked our next K-drama to watch together and ordered some new books!📖

Post new year work-rush got in the way of my drama watching this week. Finally got around to watching the first episode of Ghost Doctor today and I have a question. Finally made my DB account after snooping around for years (man I used to read My Love from Another Star recaps here when it got too boring to watch). 2022 has just begun and I have already started and completed Dae Jang Geum/Jewel in the Palace, my first ever 50+ kdrama while also rewatching Healer. Planning on watching another Sageuk with Run On rewatch.

I do the occasional family drama with 50+ eps but I’m really heavy on the fast forwarding of storylines that don’t interest me 🙈 but I feel like for sagueks I actually have to pay attention 😂 ….so binging that many episodes just isn’t going to happen. I got halfway through Six Flying Dragons and then never got back into it even though I was loving it, so I should try again.

True that! You really have to pay attentions to Sageuks cuz they almost always have politics going on. They are so pretty and on a different beat compared to contemporary dramas that they pull you in but require focus (I still don't know what the heck happened in Tale of Nokdu even though it's on my 'completed' list)

Ooooh! I have opinions on Ji Jin Hee! Why was he wearing the hat ALLL THE TIME, inside houses, buildings and even while eating? And he fit those historical costumes so well. He was a puppy character but I liked that they didn't compromise his respect.
It was great! I watched it for her journey and I was glad that that was what we got. Though I would've accepted simpler episodes as well than a lot of consecutive plotpoints. Oooooonara Onara! Also listened to Song Sohee mashup and it has not left my playlist since.
